I visit this Planet Fitness when I am in town and love the layout of the gym. The staff is always welcoming at the door. The gym itself is very clean and kept up very well. I assumed it was a fairly new location as the equipment is all in working condition. I was surprised to find out that they have been open for 2 years. I highly recommend this location!

I'm not sure if I can compare gyms to go work out and feel right at home. But this Planet fitness is to me, uncomfortable feeling, even the parking lot. I must walk past several times a week and I can't wait to get past the building.
That spoken, I finally called the place to see if they took insurance such as Medicaid. 'No.' the lady on the phone said.
Now I am comparing this place to Crunch way across town for me to go. Crunch is my favorite gym. It's like stepping into a pristine sterilized clean place, but not uppity. They take my Medicaid, and I love everything about the place, especially the staff.

I came in as a guest about 2 weeks ago and needed to use the showers. There wasn't any hot water and the drains were clogged with hair it looked like a dead baby squirrel came out. I mentioned it to the night time staff "Donovan" and his co-worker were rude and didn't seem to be to concerned. I went In today same issues no hot water and rudeness. I don't think I'll be getting a membership.

This facility has improved recently over the past months. The staff is attentive. They do not show favoritism. The facility is always attended to and kept up with to a high standard. Their restrooms facility is clean, decent and sanitized to use; despite other customers that are dirty, unclean and inappropriate. I recommend this facility. Now all they need now is to update their Black Card zone. Replacing items, such as the massaging chairs, to an upgrade. Like other facilities are.

This is an amazing gym that I would recommend to anyone who doesnt want to be in a "roid rage gym rat" gym. Here is a list of pros and cons;
Pros: Nice lay out of equipment. Excellent cardio to strength equipment ratio. Nice size locker rooms that aren't cramped. Adequate showers that are relatively clean looking. Great Black Card perk machines.
Cons: Water fountain water tastes horrible. No lounge area in BC area like other locations. And this con is not something they can really help, but the parking lot floods easily making it a pain to go to the gym without soaked feet when it rains.

Today I had to make my last day at the Staples location. I used to go to Crunch, but I came to Planet Fitness because it’s cheaper. Well as the old saying goes “just because it’s cheaper, doesn’t mean it’s the same”. Women here are so afraid to smell like sweat that they put perfume on before working out. Well people like me cannot handle the smell of perfume when it gets heavy. It chokes me out too much. I told the staff at Planet Fitness to about this too. Well today did it for me. Some lady next to me had perfume on. I am on the treadmill and trying to breath. I already can’t breathe through my nose for medical reasons. Well this perfume made me dizzy and sick to my stomach. I am not taking this anymore. If women are too afraid to smell like sweat, come to planet fitness! I will not come here anymore.

This has to be the best run gym I've been to in a lonnnggg time. Everything is clean. The staff are out and about taking care of everything and not huddled behind the counter to themselves. The manager is very nice. The locker room is well kept and clean. I wish I lived closer so I could make this my home gym.

I normally visit this location and give it 5 stars previously. Unfortunately, the AC hasn't been working for I know 2 weeks. I think you should put a portable fan for the time being and eventually add a ceiling fan. Corpus Christi is very HOT this time of year. I would hate for numerous people to go to Freedom due to the AC situation. Freedom allows silver sneaker and other to attend as well.

The Apple Watch integration on equipment has been shoddy since opening. The staff told me it was a known issue every time I asked, but clearly either Matrix or the techs can't get it solved. One day any machine I choose works, the next, it takes 4-5 different machines to find one that works. The latest issue is a disconnect 2-4 minutes into a workout, which is incredibly aggravating.

Closings: They have had a LOT of closings for being a new facility, and are not upfront about the reason.

Parking Lot: Don't go when it is raining, or hope it isn't when you leave, or your shoes will get soaked if you are parked in 75% of the spots. Draining is terrible and a majority of the lot ends up with standing water during rain.

Checking in ( has since calmed down): There was a period where the staff must of been required to hold the scanner to your tag/phone instead of you just walking up. No problem when they aren't busy, but it is annoying when it is placed behind the counter and you are forced to wait to get to your workout. This has improved recently.

Overall this is an OK choice if you have a good membership cost, but if things don't improve I will look at the several other options near by.

Will revisit this review closer to renewal, if equipment starts working right every time, no extended closures, and they continue to leave the scanners on the desk so check in is easy, I will revise my rating and the review.

(January 3, 2025) Warning..Think twice about this location!
I have never had a problem with planet fitness until I moved to corpus. You will not be allowed to continue to come to this location without putting a second card on file. I have planet fitness linked to my bank and I am never late on my payments. When they did not allow me any other options I was cornered (with extreme pressure from the assistant manager EMILY) into canceling my membership if I do not give them a second card. Emily began by introducing herself as the manager. Emily is in fact not the manager, she is the assistant manager. Kristen is the actual manager) To be clear, I never met Kristen and I never spoke with her. She has nothing to do with this interaction. EMILY told me I can’t cancel my membership without going to my old city to cancel. NOT TRUE. My home location, which I love and miss dearly, helped me solve this problem in 10 minutes on the phone. They transferred me to what was now my home gym in corpus. I turned around and then walked inside to cancel. I was greeted by EMILY saying “ok perfect!” after I told her I got the transfer to cancel here.

Planet Fitness: First, Emily is the reason I am canceling my membership. She gave me no choice because I didn’t put a second card on file.
Second, Emily never gave me this option to transfer and cancel, she only gave me the run around.
Third, Emily needs to be reevaluated. It would probably be helpful for her to take a de-escalation course, along with a few hospitality and problem solving classes before putting her in a leadership role.

I'm a nomad and frequent many many many planet fitness. This one is by far the cleanest one I've ever been to. I always get disappointed when I walk into a different location and can SMELL the slime mold from the showers. This happens a lot but NEVER at this location. They always have someone dusting and wiping down the machines. Shout out to all the employees who actually take pride in their job at this location. Truly truly appreciated.

This was the gym we came to after spending some time in Corpus. We frequent the Annaville and Portland location often. This one is not that good.

For starters they went with Matrix equipment. I don’t like “engineered” gear that puts my heavy a** body into a machine for a five foot nothing, 85 pound person. Some of The machines felt cramped. Plus I can’t figure out how to enter my information for calorie count, for example on the treadmill or stair master. don’t need the machine to keep count of my workout- I just want equipment that is geared for everyone to use. Hey maybe it’s me? I am a big, guy, but that’s why I started coming to the gym.

Second- it is small. Yes I will not use all the equipment but even on an empty day I felt I was running into people. It’s a shame they could not lease or buy a bigger part of this HUGE building. But hey, I don’t know anything about leasing or business, so I digress.

Other than that, it’s planet fitness. It’s good for me but I will use the other locations and bypass this one. Thank you.

Super clean and awesome staff! Great to see its 24/7 unlike the Little Rock, Arkansas location I frequent where I live. Only problem I had was that treadmills could use some calibration. No way I’m going 4.0 mph on a casual walk, and the distance shown is wrong. Several treadmills did this. All in all very clean and the gym goers were very friendly with working in between sets. Will most definitely return!

This PF has some issues. Not horrible but parking lot is beat up and unkept weeds and there is an AC issue they addressing with 4 or 5 giant 3ft wide AC tubes pushing air in as you walk-in. It was a cool day so ok.

Light crowd Sunday afternoon. Gym & restroom clean but several pieces of equipment in 30 minute circuit need some maintenance…
1) Bicep Curl, pad is worn down to underlayer not comfortable to rest your elbows on.
2) Seated Leg Curl foot roll is bent…it’s higher on the footroll on the left leg side than the right side…noticeable slant.
3) Seated Row needs lube or a fix, weight stack chatters and stickers when it comes down. Other stations weight stacks feel like the are stacking as weights come down as well.
4) Seat mechanism on Tricep Dip in 30 min circuit also seems to be sticking.

The pieces I used in the main gym area mostly the Jungle Gym cable station and Ab bench seemed fine.

Cancelled my account but after nearly a year got a charge on my card from here. Called them for help and the lady couldn’t even help me, she deadnamed me and kept misgendering me, my account says my legal name and preferred name, the guy who helped me sign up showed me (I remember because I got excited when I saw my preferred name on my account on the app). Well even when I stated to the rude lady that it was my deadname she continued to deadname but she added in extra misgendering. Oh and she said the only way to cancel this account (that I was previously told was canceled BEFORE I moved away) was that if I drive the hour to my nearest location just to cancel it in person or I have to send in a letter to this location stating I want to cancel my account because they couldn’t do it over the phone.

So if you’re in the LGBTQA+ community avoid this location, definitely not inclusive as they try to advertise they are.

And if you like receiving help or customer service also avoid this location.
If I could give negative star ratings I would.

I have been going to Planet Fitness for about a month already and I enjoy it more everyday that I go. The staff are extremely nice there, Dan is especially the nicest staff that Planet Fitness has to offer. Planet Fitness has a lot of amazing amenities for the Black Card membership and even with the regular membership planet fitness you still get a lot of amenities. The best thing about the Black Card is the free training sessions. The trainer, Germain has been the best trainer I have ever worked with and I have seen results fast for the goals I have been setting. I highly recommend going to his classes if you have free time and/or are wanting to get physically fit. Additionally, every time I go to Planet Fitness I am kindly greeted by the staff and the whole gym is clean. Planet Fitness is beginner friendly as well, the staff offer quick lessons on the equipment if you ask. Overall, Planet Fitness has been the best experience for me, the staff are amazing and I highly recommend coming here to get fit.
