Yes this a run of the mill gym, but it gets the job done. I want to personally thank the front desk staff Emanual. He has talked to my husband multiple times and even asked how I was doing after my surgeries. I am met with a friendly face every time I check in and that makes me satisfied.

Update: the HVAC has been out since June and it’s going into November now. I haven’t seen anything to accommodate the paying members nor an urgency to have it fixed. Can the club manager let people know an update?

I would give it zero stars. NO MANAGEMENT AND NO OWNER TRANSPARENCY...AC has been out for over a month in middle of summer! It's hot and humid and does to feel like a safe environment. Front desk employees are nice but don't know anything; my husband and I asked to see the manager and she told the attendant to find out what we needed and if it's about the AC she doesn't know anything...Really? Didn't want to be bothered with paying clients asking about ladies room soap dispenser that's been broken and empty for months, no soap to wash hands; we insisted on getting an update and once she emerged she indicated that "we are doing our best" and have limited access to soap, lol. She had no idea the status of the AC.
This place has no management, owner is obviously no in picture nor do they care about their run down club. All reviews have a response "from owner" asking to email a social account, what a joke!! PF, DON'T ASKE ME TO EMAIL YOUR SOCIAL ACCOUNT, RATHER GET YOUR OWNERS TO SEE REVIEWS AND ACT ACCORDINGLY.

Hi. My name is Patti. I have been a member of Planet Fitness on Louetta Rd in Northwest Houston for the past 6 years. I have been a member of various Houston gyms for the past 40 years, and this is by far the best one that I have ever used. All of the staff (especially Michael, Charles, Laura, Chelsea & Immanuel) are very friendly, highly professional and quick to help me when I have asked. Every time I enter, everyone at the front desk greets me (several know my name) with a hello and a smile, and they also say goodbye and to have a nice day when I leave. Everything (equipment, floor and bathroom) is always clean!

A couple of weeks ago, I dropped a small metal part as I was walking from the restroom to the doors to leave. I needed to get a duplicate of it at the Ace Hardware store next door for a home repair. I spent about 30 minutes looking for it and then asked Michael if anyone had turned it in, which no one had. I looked again for a few minutes and then left. About 10 minutes later and before I had gotten home, Michael called me on my cell phone to say that he had found it. It had rolled underneath a treadmill. He had taken his time to look under them with a flashlight. I went back for it right then and then went to Ace. I was so grateful for his help!!

I have taken training classes from Charles 2 to 3 times a week almost every week for at least the past three years since being diagnosed with borderline osteoporosis in my spine, hips and arms. He designed a workout program for me that targets all these areas with the goal of improving my bone strength and stopping further bone loss. He is very friendly, caring, professional and knowledgeable about the body. He makes sure that I am doing each exercise correctly and safely, which is a top priority for him, and which I appreciate so much. Each year, my bone density tests have shown improvement! My doctor is very pleased with my progress. I am so grateful to Charles for helping me to achieve these results!!

As a retired Pro Rodeo Cowboy of 27yrs, and a US Marine I have always set standards for myself. My Planet Fitness at Louetta St. in Houston helps me reach my standards & goals. The staff in the evening are Great, and helpful in every way! My only distain is for those that come into the gym and falsely claim to workout, and then do a set and then Set there for 10 or 15 minutes scrolling through their IPhone, that really Hacks me off and, others that suffer also. That`s why I come in at around 10- 10:30 Pm because my workouts are intense full body workouts that take me 21/2 to 3 Hr`s, and I don`t like delays during my my sets, and in my older age of 69 my patients only goes so far. Besides I enjoy having the gym all to myself, leaving me with my own thoughts all to myself. Yes my gym at Louetta St. is a fine gym.

I was excited because my health insurance was paying but they said I could upgrade to 14.95 a month. Then I got home and saw that girl didn't even look that my insurance was paying. Dear new manager of the Planet Fitness on Louetta and Grant, please do me a huge favor and actually enforce the sign in the 30 minute express area. It clearly states that area is designated for express workouts only and it is monitored by staff, but it isn’t. Every day when I am there multiple people come over from the main gym just to use one or two pieces of equipment in the express room and they do 3-4 sets and camp on the equipment for 5 minutes plus. This really interrupts people’s “express” workouts. The only reason I joined was to do the 30 minute express workouts during my lunch hour and still have time to grab a quick bite after. This isn’t happening because the rules aren’t being followed or enforced. Please do better.

Update: changing this to a 5-star bc Marissa was helpful in assisting me with this issue today. She’s aware of the situation and attempting to enforce the gym policy that the circuit training area is not for overflow traffic from the main gym and reserved for express training just like the big sign says that most people walk past and ignore. Thanks Marissa and the rest of the staff.

I enjoy this gym, it has a good amount of space for the number of people who attend. However, it doesn’t have a hip thrust machine like another planet fitness that I have been to, and I really think they should get one because many members try to do hip thrust with either plates on their thighs or with the smith machine, and neither of these options are comfortable because if the bench moves back as you do the thrust the bar or plate will fall on top of you and that is likely to cause injury

Moved to Florida in May. Called them in August to cancel. They wouldn't let me cancel; said I had to come in in person to cancel. Told them I don't even live in the state any more. Sorry...can't help me.

When I disputed the charges with my credit card company, they claimed I didn't cancel. Well...they REFUSED to let me cancel. What am I supposed to do?

They also make sure the workout equipment are clean and placed back where they belong. The attendees are majority older people, but they always have a good vibe and are respectful. There are No windows, besides the entrance doors , ceiling lights are blueish so it felt a bit dark. Enjoyed my workout. Women's locker room reminded me of h.s. gym lockers. CARD area was small. Gym was small. But enjoyed the staff and had a good workout.

The price is right, and for me, so is the location. My biggest gripe is that it seems like about a third of the treadmills don’t work properly. They don’t start when you press Go or you can’t accelerate or decelerate with the buttons near the handle (which is a big deal if you’re doing anything other than walking). The worst part is they aren’t marked as not functioning properly, so it becomes this whole thing where I’m hopping from treadmill to treadmill to test them and losing a lot of my momentum in the process. I’ve told employees about this a couple times, and I totally get not being able to fix all machines right away, but I really wish they’d mark them.
BUT gripe aside, it’s still a great deal overall in terms of membership price relative to amenities and convenience.

I have been a member of the Louetta Road Planet Fitness for 2 years. The things I like about it are (1). It's clean! They clean the equipment daily and also the floors and bathrooms. (2). The staff are very polite and professional. (3). The assortment and amount of equipment is excellent. Wait times to use equipment even at peak periods of the day is minimal. The things I DON'T like about it are: (1). The music is more than awful and is blaring incessantly. This morning I listened to 4 minutes of a song with this repeated lyric: "I'm drunk, I'm high, and I am in Chicago." Really! Why not come into the 21st century and do away with blaring music that appeals to no one? People who want music bring it with them on their device or headphones. (The ones who bring their own can't enjoy it because of the blaring music in the background.) The people who don't want music are forced to listen to the "sxit" on Planet's playlist that is just pure mental torture. It just can't be described any other way. By eliminating the canned blaring music entirely, everyone would be happier. So be warned: the music is LOUD, OBNOXIOUS, and CRUDE. Why Planet just does not eliminate it is beyond me. (2). They let street people come in and use the bathrooms and showers. That's every night because some of these people are living in their car on the parking lot. When asked, the staff says that these people are paid members. I doubt it. They are slipping in at 2 or 3 am when there are not many people inside, not during the day. If they were paid members they would not slip in at 2 a.m.! And even if they are paid members, they come in only to use the bathrooms and showers with no intention of working out. It's a bad business decision. I did not join with the intention of sharing bathroom facilities with street people who come in nightly. So, I rate them with 3 stars because of the above. The overall facility is clean but I wouldn't use the bathroom or showers if my life depended on it. For these reasons, I rate them only "3".

It's a decent gym if you just need to get in and get out, however, I wouldn't recommend getting the Black Card membership if you're going to workout early in the morning. There's rarely anyone working the front desk from 3:4-5 in the morning. Apparently that's break time and they like to hide in that little room on the right hand side as you walk in the door. Funny story! This morning when I went to the gym there were two people working the front desk. I thought "FINALLY". Sure enough by about 4:15 the female went to the parking lot and never came back and the male went into the side room on the right hand side when you first walk in for his break? Then I saw a member get so frustrated because he wanted to use the amenities. He looked for the staff member, walked back into the tanning rooms and came back out. He then got annoyed enough that he actually knocked on the breakroom door several times. He knew the staff member was in there hiding and but he never came out! NO MASSAGE FOR YOU MY FRIEND. He then got so ticked off that he left! I had called and asked about the lack of staff a few months ago and I was assured that they were fully staffed and "the staff member was probably cleaning and away from the desk". Cleaning? In one room??? That must be the most sterile room on the planet! Maybe that's why the call it Planet Fitness! Anyway I am cancelling my Black Membership today.

UPDATE! You have the PAY to move from Black Card to a standard membership but you don't need to pay to cancel your membership all together! I chose the later

I joined Planet Fitness a few years ago during the pandemic because it was nearby my house. In June 2022, I called this location on Louetta Rd to cancel because I had moved out of town. They refused to cancel and said that I had to cancel in person. I asked if I could cancel at a local gym, and they said no. I had to do it at the gym location that I had signed up... I described how this is very inconvenient since I moved out of town. I have no reason to go back other than to cancel this. Their response, "yeh, that's the point." I called multiple times to speak to other people, the manager, etc and always got the same answer... Finally happened to be in town today, over a year later. It took 30 seconds to cancel. It was essentially me electronically signing a screen... As if I couldn't do that remotely. Very unethical business practice.

Not enough lanes open for school starting back. Not enough paper in stock. Seemed a bit off putting. Processes need to be re vamped. Hired people stand at a door to check receipts, yet there are no registers with hired people. If you expect people to ring up their own stuff, then expect them to be honest. Stop the madness.

love the place, thanks for letting us teenagers workout for free during summer, it’s has inspired us to continue working out and continue using planet fitness to stay in shape

This gym is gross ,it ran out of paper towels and the amount of people there at one time seems over crowded, way too many teenagers working out for free. I pay,sounds like age discrimination might look into how legal that is.The management seems to be lacking, you think the franchise owner would be more attentive other then responding to reviews.
