Most people just sit and look at their phone instead of working out. Hydro massage machine is constantly broken and only one of the two has worked since I joined. I've contacted planet fitness headquarters and never recieved a response. I have been informed that the hydro beds have been constantly broken for the last 3 years.

People do not rack their weights and leave them on for the next person to remove. Many people will take multiple sets of dumbells and sit them next to where they are working out and many will just leave them.

I was a trainer at presidents health club in Arlington when I was younger and occasionally worked out at Metroflex. Both very different, but both had structer and gym etiquette in place.

The gym is generally clean and the staff are friendly. But their selection for equipment is very limited when you compare it to other locations in the area. Also, it takes them FOREVER to fix a machine if it is broken. I’m talking like a month or two when it should be fixed within a week. ¡No bueno!

Rude staff, went there 07/23/25 and was met with a very rude, disrespectful club member, not sure what his name was but he came off really aggressive when he confronted me about wearing Yeezy slides. However, I was already told before by a pf trainer there that I was not allowed to wear Yeezy slides and that I was okay to workout the rest of the day wearing them; however, 10 minutes after that interaction another member bursts around the corner and started to demand my first and last name over and over while stating I was already told about this rule and then proceeds to lie and say I’ve done this before? I don’t go to this pf since I was visiting a friend who wanted to work out there with me. This is how you lose members who pay to go to these gyms.

Up until Texas Family Fitness in Garland closed, I would not discover Planet Fitness. I like TFF, that's why I stayed w/ them for 5 yeads. But PF is amazing, it's so comfortable, bright & lots of better machines. Staff are wonderful. I'm starting to enjoy & feel comfortable.

I visited this gym at 1:00 in the morning this morning March 3rd 2025 the locker room was dirty. The showers don't get hot. The staff was less than friendly and it's lacking equipment that I see at other planet fitness gyms. Overall this Jim gets one star. They need to do a better job and training the staff. I didn't have my membership card with me. The app wouldn't load up on the phone but I was still able to go into my account to prove to them that I had active membership and I was fully paid enough to date. They still wouldn't allow me in the gym. I had to call customer service to get them to navigate allowing me to use the gym. This was not my home gym but still my account should have still been able to be accessed manually through their Network to show that I was a paying customer. The way they were looking at me you would have thought their face was glued to the floor.

I have to go in today to cancel my membership. I can't drive to the planet fitness 2 minutes away from my house though, I have to go to the one that's 20 minutes away. My $27 I was paying changed to like $33 and I don't even have childcare anymore which is the only reason why I had TFF. So why did it go up even if by a few dollars? My husband had a PF black card and he was paying 20. I didn't sign up to TFF just to be automatically enrolled in PF a few months later, this is complete BS. So today I'm taking my toddler and my 8 month pregnant self and inconveniently having to go cancel before my money keeps being taken.

Wow, what a great gym. I’ve been dropping in at a lot of different planet fitness gyms and this one hands-down has the most TVs and the most running elliptical treadmill exercise devices than any of them that I’ve seen. Maybe it’s just the way it’s laid out but it looks huge really awesome. Not crowded at all even during peak hours. They do have the 30 minute workout zone that seems to be pretty updated and nice. They do have the updated stretching areas with abdominal and hip machines which is really great. Also, probably the most machines I’ve seen out of all the gyms I’ve been to for planet fitness. The facility was very clean and it looks like it’s been here for a little while some of the equipment was older style, but very functional and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The energy drinks and waters are as it should be not expired clean And fair priced. The Jim location is just right off of a Kroger‘s and off of two major roads with an abundance amount of parking due to it being attached to so many other businesses makes it easy to find a parking spot and not have to park your vehicle where it’s not visible from the gym. The restrooms were very clean and up-to-date showers seem like they have been updated newer type doors not just a drapery hanging and the locker room was very clean plenty of lockers all in all just a nice bathroom and locker area better than a lot of others. The only downfall I found was that the black card spa area was closed due to renovations, but I’m sure they’ll have that up and going as quick as possible and I look forward to coming back and checking that out. All in all one of the nicer and bigger planet fitness gyms I’ve been to Definitely worth a dropping in if you’re in the area.

Update: now being charged 3X what my membership was and being held hostage that “we don’t cancel memberships by email or phone, you have to drive here and cancel or mail us a letter”. I never agreed to pay $92/mo! My membership was $35!!!

My Texas Family Fitness membership was transferred to Planet Fitness. Planet Fitness has no childcare offering, which is not at all the SAME as the services I had at Texas Family Fitness. Because the personal training sessions were predicated on me being able to pick up my daughter from school and take her with me.

So, I called. Because I had invested $500 in personal training sessions I didn't receive (the "new manager / scheduling coordinator" was new, and then she was out of town and then she was in training - but I wouldn't lose them! GUESS WHAT) and then there was the membership fee I was charged on 12/15...the notification my club was closed came on? 12/16. 12/17 we were notified by Planet Fitness (and this is the one I was unfortunately transferred to - not the one closest to me, as I was promised) that our memberships were virtually the same. And then there was a note at the bottom: No childcare of any sort is provided.

Then, I can't use it. So, I called. The billing people had "no idea" what was going on, but they'd get back to me. 12/31, I was charged again. Um, hello, for what? So, I called again today 1/2, and spoke to someone who basically told me Texas Family Fitness doesn't exist as an entity, and (wait for it):

1 - my contract allows them to just start charging me for the Planet Fitness membership (fine print, supposedly, according to the rep)
2 - they can't do anything for me, all I can do is dispute my CC charge (for the personal training I never received)
3 - I can't cancel my membership to the FACILITY I NEVER SET FOOT IN w/o going to that club's location and terminating my membership on site.

WOW. Here you go, friends, don't you just want to run right out and be a member, now?

Hi, i just got stolen from in place yesterday. Someone came in the male changing room and yanked open the locker door. Which is poorly installed, they just pulled its door latch out while my own lock was still on it. He/them took all my cash from wallet but leave papers and cards behind. So, I started going to the gym recently with some friends recommendations.

An old friend of me warned me about planet fitness strange policies and even contracts.

Something you should know is that they are franchised. The only way you have any concerns or issues is to speak to a manager at the gym (if they are there).

I had some issues and had came to the gym 3 times at this location and 2 times at another location to get my transfer done, but I was told incorrect informations.

I ended up canceling my membership after I wasn’t able to resolve my issue by the General Manager. Then I was surprise with a large bill at the end for their hidden fees.

• bring along a large magnifying glass 🔎 to read the contract when signing up.

• take a Intro to Contracts Law Class to actually understand their contract.

• record all conversations with management or staff so they can’t go back on their words. It’s a one-way consent state, so you don’t have ask for their permission.

I left a review on the planet fitness email link. And the owner came back to me saying I gave incorrect information. Let me tell you what I experienced.

I came to workout at this gym. It had great hours which is the two stars. The gym insit had all the equipments I needed. When I went to go Stretching and sat on the mats in the abdomen section, there were bed bugs crawling on the ground. I got freaked out and left. Called in and told the front staff and they said okay.

Came in again. Same thing in the same area happen. So I left a review stating maybe the staff and owner does not care about sanitation. The gym itself is dirty. Very dirty for my liking.

The owner emailed me saying she has a schedule where her staff goes around and clean every 30 min. That is a lie. For the couple times that I came before the bed bug incident, the staff have not moved out of the reception area in the front at all the whole time I am there. I am there for at least 2 hours. For her to say her staff cleans and wipe down the place is a lie. The equipments does not seem to have been wiped down at all. It just shows another business owner who is so quick to defend herself and call out the reviews when she herself cannot go to the franchise and see for herself what the customers are saying. Some people I met there have said the same thing regarding the place being dirty.

This owner needs to get up and take a walk around this place. See for herself. Instead sitting on her computer and writing reviews when she is not understanding the concept.

I'm also not the only one that have said this place is dirty. Check the other reviews posted.

Don't take your kids here! They play a lot of very inappropriate rap music, loudly. Recent renovation and decent equipment. No paper towels in the bathroom, despite having them all over the gym for wiping equipment. No free weight bench press, not a "bro" gym sadly, but the price and the hours are right. I decided on the Black Card Membership in anticipation of the Rowlett store opening near my home. I decided to go to the Garland store to take advantage of the "work out at any of the 2300 locations" option. Naturally i checked on the app to be sure they are open on Black Friday, it clearly show open and staffed 24/7 so i drive over only to find THEY ARE NOT OPEN. I looked for a corporate number to call and indeed asked ONCE I GOT TO THE PLANO LOCATION!! There's not a number to call. That my fellow fitness members and potential members is a clear, designed alienation of the customer and corporate customer service. You can get mad all you want and there's no one to make it right because there's no one to do it. The staff at the next gym are just sorry that you've wasted time and resources to go to a closed club and that it happens all the time. This is amazing for a fitness company that has sooo many people that they can't manage their app to LET PEOPLE KNOW the club they may be going to is closed. This is not professional nor is it respectful of people's time. Shame on you Planet Fitness. I expect more from you, i do not want this to happen any more.

I would highly recommend NOT using Planet Fitness, especially the Garland location at Belt Line and Duck Creek. As gyms go, they're OK. But as a corporation, they are rude and totally unaccomodating. I canceled my account 3 months ago in Dallas, or thought I had. I gave written notice that I wanted to cancel my membership. No one at the Skillman location bothered to tell me that I had to go to my "home gym" in Garland and cancel there. My membership was on auto pay and I just didn't pay attention to the fact that they were still charging me monthly. When my debit card was compromised last month it was canceled and I was issued a new one. I didn't think I needed to update PF since I had believed my account to be canceled. This morning, though, I got a notice that the monthly due was unpaid, so I called to find out why I was still being charged and how to cancel. I was told that I had to go into my home gym in person to cancel my membership, but that I had to pay the $42.00 annual maintenance fee before I could cancel. Nevermind that I haven't even used their gyms in 3 months since I bought a total home gym. I wasn't asking for my past 3 months dues refunded (although they should be since I provided written notice of cancelation back in July). I wasn't even making a fuss about having to go in person to cancel (thankfully I haven't moved out of the area or this could be a major inconvenience). I simply asked that the $42 maintenance fee for the upcoming year (that I won't be using) be voided. But no, they wouldn't even consider it. And the lady I talked to was incredibly rude and dismissive. Nevermind that I've been a loyal member for 5 years. If a company can't be a little more accommodating, they won't be getting any more of my business, or my referrals

Cons:

1. If your water fountain is broken, you should not charge people for water bottles IMO.

2. With construction going on, the right thing would be to give members a reduced rate during construction, especially to Black Card Members. Black Card Spa is not usable and some of the other work-out areas are not usable as well. Everyone is more crammed and less equipment available. They will say "Go to another location" We don't live near that location or else we would have already been going there.

3. IT IS UNCOMFORABLE HOT. I could not even work out for an hour yesterday because it was just too hot. I don't think it's right for you employees to be in that heat all day either.

4. Please know that, even if you sign up during a 0$ enrollment fee, there is still an annual fee that soon follows.

Pros:

1. Staff is very friendly

2. Clean, well the constuction makes it a little more dirty but usually it is pretty clean. Members are pretty good about sanitizing after themselves.

3. I actually did hear the alarm go off there once on someone that was being obnoxious..that was pretty funny.

Very busy place but everyone is respectful and nice. Most Planet Fitnesses have rowing machines. Unfortunate that this one doesn’t. Otherwise a solid location.

Signed up a few months ago to try it out.
When I heard they were closing down for a few months to remodel I told them I wanted to cancel my membership.

I cancelled last week and asked the girl who cancelled for me if I would get charged the $40 annual fee and she clearly said "no", because I was cancelling a week early.

I checked today and I got charged the $40. When I called up there they told me they wouldn't refund because it was a FULL week (I cancelled on a Saturday). Except on my cancellation paperwork it says I owe ZERO dollars.

Shady billing, like most gyms. Don't trust what they say.
It's disappointing too because I would have came back after the remodel, but not now. They get my $40, but they lose years of my membership. Short-sighted company.

If I could leave zero stars I would last week I was approached while on the machines by a rude guest I was called a racist name when I went to the front desk a young lady that was nice apologized for her actions. As we were speaking she said she would speak to the manager. A young man named Joel pretending to be the manager addressed the woman who you could see arguing with him. He came back to the desk only to tell me he is pretty sure that she didn’t call me anything racist. Thank God for modern technology. I was on the phone with my airpods and it picked up the entire conversation. Not only did the racism hurt but to have someone at a planet fitness deny it happened. I came back yesterday to speak to a real manager Gabbi asking her to rewind the tape and watch this woman walk up to me she never called me back. This is sad and disappointing in 2022.

So far nice experience. I started at the Garland location. GM was very professional but I needed a 24-7 location. So I went to another store and signed up. Kaitlyn was friendly and beautiful. Abby was informative and professional. Ashley was supportive and spunky. Great group. Site is immaculately clean and well organized. The equipment is all in good working condition

Even though this is an older facility you don't have to worry about people staring at you and making you feel comfortable and the staff are very friendly. Also they are truly 24hrs, one on forest in Dallas isnt!!

Needs to be updated. Equipment is constantly broken. We pay a yearly maintenance fee but something is always broken. Also why am l forced to pay during the summer and have to put up with the teenage crowd. That get to work out for free. When they do work out it's more of a social gathering place for them. These are just a few of issues with this gum

GABBI IS THE GENERAL MANAGER THERE , NEVER HAVE I EVER BEEN SO HUMILIATED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE BY A CLUB MANAGER. EVERY PLANET FITNESS HAVE A " NO CTRITICISM " RULE. SHE PURPOSELY DISOBEYED THE POLICIES OF THIS WONDERFul CLUB PLANET FITNESS. After TRAVELING FOR NEARLY 3 years OVER THE ROAD IVE NEVER HAD A CLUB MANAGER TO BE so Racist and CONTROLLING
towards thier staff. I asked GABBI's staff to intervene on my behalf to calm her down and she dictated and manipulated them. I told Her ( you're making me feel uncomfortable and you're making me feel like you're a racist) she told me ( you can leave)...... she
Has a bad temple. I had a good spirit with the entire staff up until she ruined everyone mood. I wasn't forced to leave the property I was just HUMILIATED so badly by this beast.

Absolutely love the staff! Ashley and Abby are the most helpful and friendliest staff members hands down. The Walnut location is a great, clean environment to do my work outs.

zero management. You go after 4pm and every squat rack is occupied. People leaving machines for 10 minutes and putting towels and water bottles on them. Dumbbells go to 65 or 75 lbs. The lunk alarm should be pushed all the time. Guys posing in the mirrors, blocking the lane for the dumbbells, leaving weights laying around. Just lazy people standing around the counter but don't really do anything to manage the club - not their fault - just zero management from this organization. If you need many gyms around town, Planet Fitness will get you by. The other gym brands ar better. Some planet fitness are about average or above. This one is unfortunately not.
