Being a paying customer and having to wait for a machine for 20 minutes because the high schoolers get to workout for free and use each machine with 3-5 people taking turns is RIDICULOUS. This place always has plenty of staff. Staff should be monitoring this and addressing it. Also, to make this a more smooth process, consider having certain hours that high schoolers are able to come during to reduce this crowding.

This Planet Fitness is a disaster. There are Walmart plastic buckets scattered around the gym to catch rain from the leaking ceiling—seriously, it’s like working out in a janitor’s closet. Floors are wet and slippery, making it unsafe. Meanwhile, the guy at the front desk is glued to his phone, completely unbothered.

Machines are out of paper towels, so good luck cleaning anything. The equipment is outdated compared to other locations—no lying chest press machine, and the Smith machine racks are crooked, making it a nightmare to set up properly. How does this place even function? If you’re expecting the usual Planet Fitness standards, prepare to be disappointed.

I’ve truly enjoyed going to Planet Fitness. Not being a gym kind of person, I’ve found the environment to be very non-intimidating. I go in the mornings when there is a low crowd. I’m typing this out as I sit in their lobby.

I came into the Temple Planet Fitness to sign up for the Black Card and see if there were any promotions I might be interested in. The lady at the counter was more interested in chatting with her coworker, and after a few minutes standing awkwardly at the counter (I had already located the PF App, downloaded it, and begun signing up for the membership unprompted) she awkwardly asked if we needed anything. At that point, was able to reply “Actually no, I think I’ve got it from here.” As I type, she is quickly running through basic amenities with another customer but no tour, no offers to walk through the gym, and no talk about plans or pricing.

I know my local gym is friendly, so I didn’t mind completing my membership. But, if this was my home gym, I would leave and join Crunch. Your counterstaff isn’t needed to check in, (thank god), so why don’t you at least train or expect reasonable customer service and membership driving? How does this experience build confidence your staff is knowledgeable or helpful moving forward? I am definitely not sold on Temple PF, Should I ever encounter a situation where I would need to use the Temple location as a home gym, I will cancel my PF and use virtually any other gym in the area.

Update: I did as I was asked to reach out to them as the owner replied beneath this review and two days later I have not heard a single thing from ANYONE representing PF. My guess is they comment beneath posts to make it appear as though they’re interested in fixing the issue when they have no intention on doing so. Also, the gym is STILL closed.

Currently using this location mainly for the convenience. It’s not far from home, across from HEB, decent enough hours where I can get a decent workout in before work. However, it’s ALWAYS closed for some reason or another. It’s actually ridiculous. They tell you to send complaints or feedback to HQ, and HQ replies and says reach out to your home club 😒. I have personally emailed the manager and HQ 6x over the past week and HQ has been no help, the local manager has yet to respond. As much as I do not want to cancel my membership I am left with no choice at this point. Poor people skills, poor business skills, lack of communication and it’s really bizarre to continue to charge people’s accounts for membership/club fees without allowing access to the club. If I pay for goods or services, at the very least I expect to receive the goods/services. If you cannot uphold your part of the bargain then we begin looking at breach of contract. Why are you charging me for a service I am being denied access to? Very frustrating.

The first time I wanted to use the showers, there was thick black mold all under & around the shower mats. They cleaned upon request, so I used them. I continued to shower there until I caught a very resistant strain of a fungus called jock itch. Tinea cruris. Never had it before in 60 years; 3 months later I still am dealing with it, even after 2 urgent care visits & dermatology. Do not shower there.

The gym is great for the purpose designed. The constant closures seem frequent, but it needs to be resolved. I paid for a year upfront and will not renew once it is expired. There is ALWAYS something wrong with this location. Currently there is no working water fountain, only water bottles and Gatorade for purchase. The fountain has been out of order for 4 days in a row and none of the staff have any information about when it will be fixed. On top of that there is always leaks from the ceiling and buckets placed in awkward spots in order to catch the water. The equipment is fine and in working order, that’s what my 2 stars are for.

I'm a traveler, so I visit a lot of PF on the way. This planet fitness is just ok. They are not 24H. Many buckets on the floor to get the water rain from rooftop, the equipment compared to others PF are the old ones. Good thing is they are next to a mall, so many things to do after a nice workout. And plenty of parking space.

It’s not the worst gym by any means but I find it outrageous that a major gym like Planet Fitness doesn’t have free weights for something as quintessential as the bench press or squats. Instead, they only have smith machines, which every true gym rat knows don’t provide the same workout as free weights. If they replaced a couple of those smith machines with some actual free weights then id be happy. But as of right now I’m most likely going to switch over to Crunch.

Since I can't get a response from management, posting here. I had a membership to this gym but then moved for work. I was told I could not cancel over the phone, that I had to either come in to the exact Temple location or send in a letter, requesting that my membership be cancelled. I sent that letter in October of 2023, but my account kept getting charged. I called back in to be told that it had to be sent via certified mail. So I did that. My account is still being charged, and it's almost March of 2024. I called back in today to be told by the front desk that no manager was available to speak to me. I gave her my contact info, never received a call. I called back in about 7 hours later, only to be told Management had gone home. Maybe if I write a terrible review, I'll actually hear back from management. My two cents, do not get a membership. They make it a nightmare to cancel.

I am an OTR driver. ZERO parking chance for truck or withTrailer here. I'm an amputee. I was hoping they'd have a cable cross station but they don't. It was empty which I like especially because I'm newly cut. The AC runs to cold, it was hard to build up a sweat. The carabiners were not correct. They were tiny. I know this because before my diagnosis and for most of my adult life, I've worked for gyms across the country. The dumbell section is small with not a lot of seating. Other than that it's okay.

Lrage, clean, well maintained gym. Feels safe and welcoming. My only complaint is that the 30 minute circuit needs better signage/monitoring. I would 99% of people that use the machines just wander in and do whatever. They are then when you ask them to move. It's sort of infuriating.
