Although I love the staff and the workout areas, the locker room (old and dirty lockers) needs much attention. The shower area is usually wet and smells moldy, especially when compared to other PF locations with remodeled (nice) shower stalls, which is much needed here and overlooked a few summers ago for a remodel that mostly was for new wallpaper.

I've been lifting for over 25 years, and I must say, this Planet Fitness exceeded my expectations. It’s got everything you need for an efficient, no-nonsense workout — tons of machines, a nice selection of dumbbells, plenty of cardio options, and you don’t have to fight for equipment. On top of that, they’ve got hydromassage chairs, tanning beds, and a red light therapy machine…where else are you getting all that for $25 a month. The gym was clean, the layout made sense, and the staff actually kept things picked up. For someone getting back into training and trying to stay injury-free, it’s perfect.

Overall, this is a decent Planet Fitness. The main problem is that when equipment goes down, it stays down for a while. The tricep extension machine has been down for over a month or so, and still nothing. And there are at least 2 others that are down. I don't see any urgency from them. It's also really hot in the gym, not sure why they don't keep it cooler in the summer. It's already hot when I first walk in.

Overall, good gym. Never too crowded and busy, bathrooms kept pretty clean, rarely see any machines down/not working. If they break, they tend to get fixed fairly quick! Staff is friendly as well. Only minor complaint (which is out of this specific’s store control) is the Matrix machines, specifically the treadmills. While they’re newer and I do like the ability to connect my Apple Watch to the machines to track my workouts, they lack any cushion like higher quality machines so spending too long on these treadmills tend to make my feet hurt. I don’t have that issue on the previous machines or at other gyms. Also the emergency stop switch is SO sensitive. Can’t tell you how many times a workout has been interrupted cause the switch randomly goes down. I also don’t care of the rolling hill program on these. Otherwise, every other machine is fine in the facility.

Contrast this to the New Braunfels location where there are 50 open cardio machines and there is always a wait to get on a smith machine. There are multiple machines always down.

It is frustrating to pay for a membership and not be able to even use the machines at this gym because it’s been overrun by high school students. In the summer, high school students get a free pass to workout. It’s great they’re working out but can you all at least limit the times they are able to use the gym so those that pay for their membership can actually work out? I went to workout on Monday and the crowd meter showed low but when I walked in, the gym was packed! Most of the machines were being used, weights left all over the floor! When I tried to give the employee at the front desk (Torion?)who is always on his cell phone feedback, he told me to just find another time to workout! I want a refund for my monthly membership for wasting so much time and not be able to have a quality workout. I filled out a survey that was emailed to me and asked for the manager to call me back and have yet to get a response.

They have equipment that works, the times we've gone in (5am) it's not crowded so we can get in, work out and leave. We were going to the one in O'conner but either people would sit on the equipment on their phone in the 30 minute work out area or they don't move when it's time. We've said something to management a couple of times but it was still happening so we decided to come to the Kitty Hawk location. It's further away but we can work out w/out issues.

It’s got all of my fitness needs. Free weights, machines, cleaning supplies, clean, restrooms, and showers. There are many other features that you can get with the black card, but even a basic membership is sufficient. The staff is very friendly and always greets you when you show up. I’ve been coming to Planet Fitness for over a month now, and I have to say, Will, Anthony, and the front desk girls are always so friendly and welcoming. After our workout, my friend and I always ‘bother’ them for the Black Card spa perks, like the hydromassage (my personal favorite), red light therapy, and the wellness pod. They’re always patient and have such a great attitude!

I was a member of another gym down the street for over a year, but I never truly felt welcomed there. That’s completely different here, thanks to Will, Anthony, and the awesome staff. The gym is also consistently clean, including the restrooms, changing areas, showers, and workout spaces. I highly recommend this gym 100%

I am doing one star because there’s nothing lower. My brother who is a member at planet fitness died on December 24, 2024. I called with all of his personal information and attempted to cancel his membership. I was informed that I would have to send a death certificate or a certified letter in order to cancel his membership. How ridiculous is this to cancel a $10.83 monthly charge. I spoke to the owner and he said well it’s just our policy. now that is great customer service..NOT.

I used to enjoy the cleanliness of this gym however for the past year and a half it's been terrible in the bathroom/locker room areas. There have been plumbing issues with the toilets, for months, making rivers in the whole area. I've started looking for a new gym. Sad other PF branches are so clean yet this one is terrible.

This location is just the best. The club manager Arthur Dotray has a great staff who will always greet you personally and ready to help with questions or answers. I've been coming to PF in Universal City for a couple yrs now and have been working out on my own .Two and a half months ago I started taking classes with trainer Rebekah Petty and she is a fantastic trainer. She has me achieving goals that I could have never achieved on my own in this short amount of time.This is customer service at it's best.

I enjoy the atmosphere and the variety of multiple equipment pieces...I didn't give a 5 star only because the lack of a scale. The idea of a judge free zone is a great concept BUT how do I hold myself accountable? People judge...that's what they do. I judged the fact that tootsie rolls are on the counter, felt counterproductive, but I made the choice to walk away. I think you should incorporate a scale in a secluded area if being judged is the concern.

They could refill spray bottle and paper towel dispensers more often but giving 3 stars because they make you sign up online, and auto pay your account every month, YET to cancel a membership, there is not an online or in-app option. You can't even call to cancel. You MUST physically go in-person to cancel or send them a notarized letter or something silly like that. In this day and age, it feels very much like an artificial barrier; like some douchebag thinks making it harder to cancel will prevent cancellations. It does not. I am cancelling because I not currently using the membership, but knowing there is a barrier to cancel makes it so when I want to be more active again, I will remember being inconvenienced and just go to one of the dozens of competitors gyms in the area.

Ive sign up this gym when I arrive at texas for the first time. This gym has been on top of their game. Especially Rachel. She will greet you by your name and a warm smile. I went Today and I dealt with a young lady who was incredibly rude. I asked a very basic question. She was very sarcastic and rude and literally told me you can go online and read. When I told her OK, that’s no problem, but I don’t understand why you’re being so rude and disrespectful. I’m a customer. There’s no reason to treat people like us. She rolled her eyes grabbed a card slammed it on the counter. I said there’s my manager and walked away. I am in shock And disbelief I decided not to work out, and just leave not fully believing that I was treated in such an ill manner for literally no reason at all I started going to planet fitness because they advertise a comfortable welcoming environment. That was not how I was treated today.

The workout area is pretty decent...as equipment is usually available and just a couple of machines out of order (but have been OOC for a while). Some of the leg machines are relatively small for taller folks. The biggest issue here is cleanliness of the men's room. I have been going pretty much every day for the last month. The area around the urinals are ALWAYS wet...ALWAYS (see photos from other posts). Not sure if it is a water leak or combo of water/urine (most likely), but the smell of urine hits before walking into the locker room. It is also starting to collect in the toilet area. As people use the urinal/toilet, you can see them footprints tracking this through the locker room. I informed the front desk a few weeks ago, and still no resolution. They really need not only better housekeeping to clean up the mess, but also better maintenance to repair the issues. Please call maintenance soon...!!!!

Called to inquire about becoming a member as well as obtaining a personal trainer on 1/2/24 at approximately 6:05pm
Phone was answered by a female who mumbled like she was disappointed to be there.
Her name was unclear and didn’t seem interested in answering any of my questions or be helpful at all just rude and oblivious.

So I call True Fit Athletic club and the phone was answered by a gentleman who seemed delighted to answer the phone ,very respectful and responsive and answered all my questions.
On my way there now.

Sorry planet fitness but if that’s what you offer at your front house I am not interested.
May I suggest coaching your front of the house staff.

Also I have noticed while reading all the PF responses to the bad reviews it seems as if a general replying/ apologizing asking for the user/reviewer to reach out to XYZ to report the problem.
Please don’t ask me to escalate my experience to a higher authority as that would fall under your job description.

Rebekah has been INCREDIBLE as my trainer. Under her direction, I have achieved things that I did not think possible for a 67 year old man. It's been a gradual process. But just today, I was able to do 2 sets of ten reps lifting all of the weight plates on one of the machines in the circuit room. Are you kidding me? Old guys are not supposed to be able to do that. She also set me up with a plan on the treadmill that do 4 times a week. My right knee was injured a number of years ago. It was swollen at the end of every day with fluid. But, it was not injured bad enough that surgery was necessary. By building up my leg muscles, the swelling is almost gone because the increased strength in my legs have taken pressure of my knee injury. Thank you for everything Rebekah!
