I am older, headed into my 70’s , and joined Pure Barre because I want to continue to enjoy life - travel, hike, bike, ... And to avoid injuries - back pain, knee pain, etc.
In short be “functionally fit”.
At Pure Barre I am getting all of this and more.
The classes people of all ages and abilities so any initial awkwardness was quickly dispelled.
The instructors are all professional and highly trained. The first thing they ask is about injuries old and new. They have the knowledge and experience to safely guide you through the exercises.
There is an emphasis on your entire core - abs, spine, pelvis, glutes and all of the muscles I’ve neglected from sitting at a desk for 40 years.
After six months, it is working. I can see and feel the difference . My balance and posture have improved, my knees and shoulder no longer bother me. I can haul luggage up broken escalators at the airport and get my bag out of the bin without my shoulder shouting at me.

This is my first month with Pure barre and I really enjoy
Pure Barre is an amazing workout that truly defines and empowers you. It’s low-impact but incredibly effective — the small, precise movements target every muscle and make you feel stronger with each class. The exercises can be challenging, especially at first, but that’s what makes it so rewarding.
The instructors are motivating, supportive, and always help you push through those difficult moments. Even though it’s tough, you’ll enjoy it — there’s a great sense of accomplishment when you finish a class.
After just a few sessions, you start to notice better posture, more muscle tone, and a stronger, more confident version of yourself. The music, the positive energy, and the community make every class enjoyable.

Pure barre is my place of Zen. Not only the instructors are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable but also the barretenders.
I have to mention Kyleigh. In my opinion she is the best barretender there is! She is the reason I got hooked up with barre. She is an amazing person. She is my biggest cheerleader in barre. Every time I see her at barre it gives me the motivation to push myself a bit harder. She will never forget to celebrate your birthday or your achievements. She will assist you anyway possible. The Define format at Pure Barre has been a total game-changer for me. It’s the perfect blend of low-impact strength training and intentional movement that pushes you beyond your comfort zone—without ever feeling overwhelming.
Since adding Define to my routine, I’ve noticed I’m not only physically stronger, but I feel more grounded and confident in my body. The focus on controlled, functional strength has improved my endurance, posture, and overall muscle tone in ways I didn’t expect.

I've done Pure Barre for 9 years now, almost 2,750 classes in, and people always ask me how I haven't burned out. A big part of it is the varied formats, always keeping me on my toes (literally and figuratively!)
Classic - super challenging but low impact, creates long lean muscles, and always changing choreo keeps it interesting. I definitely recommend anyone new starting with classic, and try to master the Pure Barre technique!
Empower - I have so much fun doing the moves, while simultaneously hoping they're almost over. The fast pace makes class go by SO fast, and I love the way it feels to get my heart rate up. It also is a great workout for toning, with a lot of the components of classic intertwined at a faster pace. (See: very few breaks haha!)
Define - this class is the epitome of 'as easy or hard as you want to make it' (depending on what weights you chose, there are people in class using 5 lb weights, people using 20 lbs, and everywhere in between! which is great, because everyone can find their perfect fit. Define has challenged my body in more ways than I knew possible!
I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite format, because a medley of all 3 is what makes Pure Barre effective, and fun!

pure barre is like a home away from home! not only are the workouts amazing but so is the entire team! The instructors make it a point to correct and really teach one on one to best benefit each individual! My favorite style is empower because it is so high energy and I love the music being loud! I began my Pure Barre journey in May 2022 after randomly winning a drawing at a school fundraiser. After my first foundations class, I knew this was the format for me. After many years of doing fitness on my own with online videos, etc, I never felt stronger or honestly, like I had a good workout. But after each and every Pure Barre class, I am stronger than I was the day before and in better shape than ever. I love all the formats but my favorite still surprises me to this day (after avoiding it for over a year) - Empower. I feel like I can take on the world after each and every Empower.
Fitness is a personal journey, and I am so glad mine took me to Pure Barre-The Woodlands.

I love the community at Pure Barre The Woodlands—it’s encouraging, welcoming, and keeps me coming back even on the days I’d rather be horizontal. I love all the Pure Barre formats like they’re my children—but lately, Align is the one letting me sleep at night. With some lower back issues flaring up, Align has been the gentle hero I didn’t know I needed. This Pure Barre location is awesome!!! I am working a summer internship in Houston for the summer and was worried about finding a new location here, but the instructors are all fabulous! My favorite type of class will always be Classic! It is such a fun way to learn about how to isolate and activate your muscles. I’m absolutely obsessed with Pure Barre — this location is incredible! Every class challenges me in the best way, but Align is definitely my favorite. There’s something about the flow that feels graceful and fun — almost like a blend of exercise and ballet. It’s low-impact but still makes me feel strong and centered.
Lately, I’ve been loving the Define + Align combo. It’s the perfect balance of strength and movement, and I always leave feeling refreshed. Highly recommend trying it if you haven’t already!

I happened upon the review that I wrote 8 years ago after attending classes at Pure Barre The Woodlands in Hughes Landing for 5 months. I loved the results I started seeing almost immediately. I felt stronger and more confident than I have in years. 8 years later, I still feel this way. In addition to the great workout, you become part of a supportive community, too. Try it! I also want to add that Pure Barre has many different class formats - I take them all, but Classic is my favorite. Hope to see you at the barre!

This is the first workout venue I've been to where the staff really is friendly and non judgemental. They take effort to get to know my name, remember me when I come in, know my sister who also works out here, and helps to correct my exercises if I'm doing something improperly.

Interacting with this Pure Barre was a different experience. If you're not willing to tell them before you come that you're going to book a membership with them. They are kind of upset.
I was honest and shared I currently go to orange theory and I wanted to see what there classes were about and they basically didn’t want to work with me since I was already paying a membership else where. I don’t know if I would want a membership with a place. If I never experienced the place. What happened to letting me experience the class and let me see if I enjoy it so I can figure out what I need to do for my health journey.

If you’re attending through ClassPass beware that sticky socks are required not recommended as it says on the gym information posted on app. If you don’t bring your own they charge $16.50 for the cheapest pair. Seems like something they could update as I’m sure I’m not the first ClassPass member that didn’t want to spend extra money for a class that I’ve already paid for.

The Woodlands locations-Alden Bridge and Hughes-landing are fantastic! There is great encouragement and accountability. I've been doing barre for about a decade now and previously went to a different gym. PB provides a far better workout challenge that my prior experience. I have been working out at PB since this past November and feel stronger than ever. The instructors are very attentive to injuries and provide modifications as needed. The barretenders learn your name and always make you feel welcomed. The Hughes Landing location can present a challenge with parking at times so providing enough time to part and get inside is critical to prevent a missed workout. I'm so glad to be at Pure Barre!

I initially signed up during a summer promotion where I was able to sign up for a discounted price. I was pushed to sign up on the same day after I came in for my complimentary class which was a nice opportunity to get a feel of what the class consists of. I specifically asked if this was a contractual agreement and I was told no, I will be charged on a monthly basis. The classes were great for the first month but I couldn’t commit to taking classes for 3 months due to personal reasons. I reached out to the regional manager to cancel my membership and I was told “your contract states that you are tied to 3 months of membership before being eligible to cancel. This is part of the 20% off your first month of unlimited special you signed up on 6/14.
If you are unable to come to class at the moment, we can buy out your contract for the 3 months and move your class credits to the fall. Otherwise your last day of membership with us will be on 9/13.”
Like I mentioned prior, I don’t recall signing a contract nor do I think it’s ethical to have a prior customer pay $368 if they’re no longer interest in moving forward. This is a scam and I regret signing up with Pure Barre.

I tried the first week trial for free at first and I admit the first 2-3 days left me feeling exhausted and sore but if you really are looking for a low-intensity yet still a good workout like me who’s had injuries from sports in the past, try PureBarre. Classes are only 50 mins and fast-paced but with awesome instructors, great music and friendly community, you’d be glad you tried it and you’ll eventually want to come back for more.

I am a Pure Barre newbie and overall I think the classes are good. So far, the classes have good tempo/flow and are challenging. Some instructors are better at providing guidance and corrections then others (try Megan if you want assistance with form). I wish they offered a class a little bit later in the evening once a week as it is hard to get there by 630PM post- work.
Also, they do not keep a stock of the 'sticky' socks so make sure to buy some beforehand.

I'm loving Pure Barre - The Woodlands - Hughes Landing. The instructors are well trained and hyper focused on form, and all seem to be genuinely concerned with the client experience. I think I've had 4 different instructors and they're all very good. Some are even excellent. They offer modifications for injuries - just ask! I've been missing my former barre studio since I've moved, and I think PB will work for me. The vibe of the place is welcoming and calming. I wish there were a location closer to me in the Birnham Woods area (hint hint).

It's a great workout, really pushes your limit if your not coming in physically fit. The atmosphere is encouraging and positive. The workout targets your core, thighs, legs, and arms. This is a low impact but really gives you a sweat. I also didn't feel like it went on too long, there were change ups which kept the momentum going. 😊

I absolutely love Pure Barre. After 3 kids it is the only thing that has transformed my body back into shape. It is by far the hardest workout I have ever done (and I was in the military), but the results you get after a few months are worth the pain. It will take a few weeks before you get the hang of it so stick with it and you won't regret it. The staff is unbelievably nice and helpful. It is the first place I've been to where I feel like they care. I cannot say enough positive things about my experience here!

Midway through my first class I thought that this wasn't for me. Despite a fantastic instructor none of it came naturally to my inflexible, uncoordinated self, but by the end of the class, I could tell that I just had a really great workout, and I should probably give this a go. Within a few weeks I noticed significant improvements in my flexibility and strength. By the end of the first month I was hooked.
The instructors are motivating and encouraging. I love the location. The workouts change all the time so it's not repetitive. I was concerned that in time it would become easy because so much of it relies on body weight; somehow it's just more challenging. I would encourage anyone thinking of trying it to go ahead and do it, and give it a few classes.

I am new to Barre and the ladies were welcoming and fantastic. I wasn't too good at Barre during my first class. Let me tell you- I was struggling! However, the instructor (Lauren) was encouraging, positive and helpful. They said not to give up if your first class wasn't the best- as you continue to take classes, it will become easier! So, we will see where this journey takes me!

I love the community at this location first of all... Everyone is friendly, uplifting, supportive, and authentic. The staff is amazing, they are always warm, welcoming, and they always try to elevate you to reach your full potential each class. I appreciate that they take the time to learn your name and a little about you. During the class each instructor moves around the room helping you perfect your form. There are plenty of class times to choose from to fit anyone's schedule. This studio hosts a variety of events to help you stay engaged. This class has become a major stress reliever for me and I look forward to going. I have been a member for a little over 2 months and am very pleased I look forward to a long relationship with Pure Barre Woodlands.

Pure Barre has definitely changed my body. I am so much stronger and I have tightened and lifted areas that I thought were hopeless like my rear. If you have any thoughts about trying PB, just do it. Pros: Classes were organized, timely, fast paced. Energetic teachers. Facility clean.
Cons: Soon after taking classes, I started having low back pain. I expressed my concern to an instructor and one of the co-owners at different times. I was advised to stay more tucked and to inform the class instructor so she can correct my form, if needed; which I did. As a result of continuing classes, my back pain became so bad that I couldn’t bend forward or sit for two weeks. My doctor determined that I should no longer participate in Pure Barre classes due to my body mechanics. Even with a doctor’s note and the knowledge that I hurt my back from the classes, the owners insisted that I pay a $275 cancellation fee. If you scroll down to the bottom of the agreement, you will find the following terms: "Cancellation Policy: I acknowledge that this agreement may not be cancelled for any reason WITHOUT FULL CONSENT AND AGREEMENT of Pure Barre The Woodlands & Hughes Landing. Client may cancel contract by paying out additional monies owed in full and a $275 Cancellation Fee”. ***The cancellation fee was increased to $500 on May 1, 2016! From my experience, these owners will NOT CONSENT to waiving the $500 cancellation fee regardless of the circumstances. Note that this agreement states you could also be held liable to pay “additional monies owed in full"—yikes! Buyer Beware!

I tried out a PB class for the first time a couple of weeks ago! I was quite surprised by the workout! I was pouring sweat by the time the class ended. With the unique movements and techniques I worked muscles that typically do not get worked with my current workouts. My muscles were pleasantly sore the next day (thanks Christy). On top of all of that, the atmosphere is great including the warmth of the co-owners, the instructors, and the other PB members! The studio in Hughes Landing is also REALLY nice. I will certainly be going back and using this great workout as a supplement to my other workouts! Do yourself a huge favor and give it a try.

What an awesome experience! This was my first Pure Barre class and wow did it kick my butt in the best way possible. I loved the warm, friendly atmosphere and the instructor, Christy was uplifting and encouraging! This is a great low impact workout that had me feeling good right after and sore the next day which let's me know I was working something right. Can't wait to go back and try platform. First time taking Pure Barre and although it was really tuff it was totally awesome! I loved it and will definitely be going back! The instructor Christy Abrams was fantastic, she gave hands on instruction and really tried showing proper technique, she also made me feel very comfortable. Loved her! I am sore all over and feel that I got an amazing workout! If you're considering taking the class don't hesitate, take it!

Pure Barre is an amazing workout -- no muscle goes untouched. My first class was kind of shocking because it's so different from other workouts, but once you know what to expect it's really a great way to get in shape. At Hughes Landing, all of the instructors are excellent, and they switch things up to keep it interesting and to keep the body from adapting. I really enjoy it.
