I had a really disappointing experience with Rival Cheer. The coaching was subpar, with the two main instructors showing little interest in helping us improve. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of communication. The organization was chaotic, with frequent last-minute changes to schedules. Coaches never had time for parent meetings, or wanted to hear our input. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone looking for quality cheerleading. It was a waste of time and money. We left the season before it was even over.

Loved this gym with our whole hearts and watched our daughter thrive for her first season... This last season was an absolute train wreck. Music didn’t come in until months into the season, uniforms never did come in, most of the comps were cancelled last minute, and there was zero communication until it came time for an excuse or to tell parents we needed to stop bugging them. Their instruction in tumbling was good and our daughter adores the coaches, but we won’t support a business that is so poorly run.

Last review I gave this place was in order to help the “Gym” because the owner asked us. All I have to say is unless you want your kid to develop trust issues, anxiety, and carry a lot of stress this is the place to send them for “cheer”. Everything from this place is inconsistent from coaches to classes, and just receiving any general information. Save the headache and look for alternative gyms to enroll your child. Believe the one star reviews most of the good ones are fabricated.

So I know for a fact that majority of these good reviews are because the coaches told their parents to go on the site and write good reviews 🙄. And also as of recent we have had several friends who have left Rival due to unprofessional conduct and unfair treatment and false advertising basically. By the coaches. And they have they emails and text messages from these coaches and employees of Rival so they have been seen my many. There is More than enough proof! I won’t be applying or referring anyone here. Their treatment of these parents and families and these kids is unethical and has recently been reported to the BBB. I’m sure this review will get deleted or hidden somehow. But the proper channels have been notified of all of these issues and official reports have been made.

We have been with Rival for 6 years. Wouldn’t even consider another gym! The coaches are fully invested in the kids. They truly care about them. They go above and beyond to make them better. Never had a bad experience at this gym.
I’ve ready every review on here. Don’t listen to the haters! They’re either from another gym and trying to bring Rival down or they’re just sensitive. Don’t be fooled. RIVAL IS THE BEST!

Our daughter has cheered at Rival for 6 years. Rival is more than just another cheer gym; Rival is a family! We did not want our daughter to be a "number" lost in the shuffle of a large gym and we've never doubted our decision to stay with Rival. The coaches at Rival have been there for her (and us as parents too) since day one. They are invested in these kiddos lives and want the best for them inside & outside of the gym, on & off the mat, in the present & for their future. We are Rival for life!!! We have been at Rival for going on 4 years, we love the environment and atmosphere! Taylor is driven, skilled and born to win! Houston is funny, loving and great at coaching. He gets them to respect him so that he can show them the way. Lexi is the happiness of that place, she is always there, always happy, and she is always cheering and dancing and is every athletes hype man. From the time we walked in the door in 2020, Rival felt like home, these coaches pour it ALL into these kids, from cartwheel fundamentals to character building. My daughter has THRIVED In every aspect with this gym. I know they care about my child's well being in and out of the gym.! The morals they are teaching these kids can't be found just anywhere! There was nothing personable about this place. My daughter was in beginner classes there, fell a couple times and the coaches never once asked her if she was ok or even helped her up off of the floor. Canceled my membership in January yet I never received responses from my emails and they continue to charge my card.

I can not express enough how AMAZING Rival Cheer Academy is!!! This is my daughter’s 2nd season at Rival. Thanks to the GREAT COACHES and such supportive athletes/parents, we began to see improvements in her skills immediately! This is our second year at Rival, my daughter loves it and we couldn’t be happier!!! Our coaches are amazing, when my daughter was struggling with a decision the coaches felt was best for the team, she got upset. Coach Taylor, let us come in and he talked to her personally ,and help her understand! Her coaches help her get back to where she needed to be ,to do what she loves!! Other gyms would have said ,bye and replaced her without a second thought, not ours though, they loved and help her through her struggles!! Our coaches expect 110 percent and I love that, cause anything in life with less than that won’t be successful, and thats what they are helping us teach our daughter at a young age!!

My daughter does not go to this gym, but I was at a competition this past weekend where Rival was. I cannot believe how I heard a coach talk to his team. I cannot believe parents would allow a coach to talk to their athlete like this. Plus be aware who is around you children and how they are being coached/talked to. This method might be okay for some parents, but I was embarrassed for the team.

This is my daughter's 2nd season on a All-star team at Rival cheer academy, 6th year total on a competitive team. She adores her coaches and LOVES her team. She looks forward to practice even when she was out injured and could not participate. Is RCA perfect? No. No gym is "perfect." But, Rival cheer academy is perfect for my daughter!!! In her 6 years cheering, this is her favorite team and the happiest she has ever been in her cheer home.

We tried the gym. It's nice but needs better coaching and coordination. During a recent competition, the team competed without a complete routine. Probably not what you are looking for if you want to compete with highly experienced gyms.

Update: My daughter was dismissed from the team 10 minutes after this review was posted due to my honest review. Additionally, while researching the gym I found the registration for the Rival Cheer Academy LLC "involuntarily ended" due to franchise tax issues in January 2016 according to the State of Texas registration.

I now wish there was a half star.

Would not recommend. Bad experience for my step-daughter, she WILL NOT ever ever be coming back unless there is a change in the staff.

UPDATE: I will not be in the system sir, because it's my "step-daughter"... both of her biological parents are still in the system I assure you.. God Bless as well and going forward I pray you learn how to speak to these children better because they do not deserve that kind of treatment.

This is our 3rd season with Rival. My daughter had never cheered before but was welcomed and taught what she needed to know. The coaches are knowledgeable and caring. They do push the kids to do their best and strive for more. The other athletes are warm and caring, they build each other up and can be seen encouraging and cheering each other on to be their individual best.
No gym will ever be 100% perferct every single area, but communication is open and the spirit here is loving. My daughter knows I will take her to any gym she wants and she CHOOSES Rival. She has gained a ton of new skills and loves being at the gym so much we almost can't get her out to go home. 5 stars from us.

If you are serious about competitive or school cheer this is your gym. This is our second season at Rival Cheer Academy and my daughter loves being a party of their family.
Yes “family”.
Like most families there are good times and hard times. If you put in the work and time, your child will succeed at this gym. The coaches push these kids to be the best that they can be in cheer and at school. Real Champions.

My daughter has been at Rival for almost 2 years now, with one of those being on a competitive team. While over 2yrs we have seen a couple miscommunications (hey, none of us are perfect!) we have always just asked questions and been met with complete understanding. I’ve had opportunity to speak to accounting, the owner, and the coaches, and they’ve all had very welcoming and open communication when I’ve needed it.

I’ve read through previous reviews about closed practices, and I felt I should point out that all tumbling classes or prep classes that my daughter has been part of are open to parents. The competitive team practices are the ones that are not open to parents. My daughter came from a competive gymnastics team, where this is a very common practice with a sport that requires extreme concentration and focus to prevent injury to oneself or others.

As with all sports, it’s important to talk to your kids about practices like this and keep very open communication with your child in the event you or your child is uncomfortable with something.

I’m so thankful for the coaches and staff who have done a fantastic job with my daughter’s team. It’s a physically challenging sport, but my daughter is already looking forward to tryouts and the next season!

My daughter is in her 4th year of cheer and her 1st year at Rival. Moving to Rival has been one of the best decisions we made! It is her favorite place to be! Taylor and his coaches are awesome and work so well together. They push the kids as any coach should while encouraging them to be their best in everything they do....even school! One of my daughters favorite things is how all of the coaches actually tumble with them to show proper technique (they are amazing!). It has been so much fun to watch her improvement since she started at Rival, with both stunting and tumbling. We’ve been to places in the past (before moving) where the staff is so kind and they know all the kids etc. defiantly not this place. Some of the coaches are rude!

My daughter was with Coach Taylor before he started Rival Cheer. I have seen nothing but growth in her abilities and her character towards coaches, team mates and others. Taylor puts Christian values in everything he does with the gym. If your kid is serious about competition cheer or school cheer Taylor is the right coach and Rival is the right gym. I wouldn’t want anyone else teaching my daughter. I recommend Rival to anyone who asks.

Over the last four years my two daughters have been a part of the Rival Cheer Academy. I am so pleased to see them grow their skills in not only the sport but as strong Godly children being that the gym is christian based.
The staff and coaches are very attentive to each athlete. The owner is always giving his all has the best attitude, with class and integrity. I am thankful to the Rival staff, coaches and Rival parents.

I love Rival, this is where I go for cheer and tumbling Coach Taylor is kind hearted, God loving, and a very athletic person. He has done everything in his power to encourage kids to come learn, grown and mostly have fun. I loved all the friends I have made the past 3 years. The coaching staff is amazing they are always there to help me. We have a prayer as a team before practice which gets us up beat and ready.
