Charge cash only to see my daughter compete. Don't understand why they wouldn't accept credit, venmo or any of method of payment. Seems shady.

Coach Hannah and Coach Guy have been so kind and patient with my kids. My kids love their class! We switched from another gym and have no regrets. Much happier at River City β€οΈ

I used to go to this gym and all of the coaches and gymnasts were rude. The coaches had favorites and if you werenβt a favorite then you will probably be told to shut up by the coaches.

My child is a current gymnast to this establishment and it is wonderful! I love the staff and how they coach their gymnasts. The coaches are very interactive with the students and help them if they are struggling! The activities and a wide variety of classes they provide help your child learn body awareness. Some classes set your child up for competitions. The owner is very lovely and is very nice! If I could rate this amazing place a 10 I would. I love river city!!!

Terrible experience with the ladies at the front desk. I believe one of them was a manager, or possibly even the owner. Extremely rude and not very welcoming to other gyms during competitions. Hopefully our gym skips this competition next year so we donβt feel compelled to pay entry fees to someone who is so disrespectful. At the very least, Iβd recommend paying the entry fee for yourself and your athlete. Leave the rest of the family at home for this competition so you donβt have to pay entry fees and concessions.

Looking forward to meeting Sandy. When an owner goes out of the way to hire a cleaning company or says a lot, she cares about the well being of the athletes and staff plus the appearance of her facility. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to possibly service your establishment π

I put my daughter in the summer camp program a few years ago. While they did have plenty of activities to do it was a bad experience. The staff was very rude, I think they were all teenagers with a few adults and no one said hello, I would be the one making eye contact saying hello, introducing myself. My daughter would tell me how she was picked on by other kids there and the staff did nothing about it, she was even scratched by another kid much older than her, she told someone and they did nothing. Teachers would snack on her food i packed her without asking her permission. She said there was a male coach there who would come in and tell them to shut up etc. quite strict and rude. Which may be something you want for your children but Iβll pass. I was called one day while I was at work that my daughter was sick so I went as soon as I could to pick her up. When I arrived the building was locked and everyone left to a field trip. The owner came back from getting a lunch I suppose, saw me there, I asked her about it and she told me something like oh well too bad...I literally started crying. I think I told her she was rude and then they decided to try and help me. Overall bad experience for me and my child. They need to be more professional and polite with better customer service and much better discipline of the children to make sure bullying is taken care of immediately.

My daughter has only been attending River City since the beginning of January and we love it. Her teacher is amazing and very thorough with the girls. The owner and all the other staff is very friendly. Don't let some of these reviews scare you away. Go see it for yourself. They are very dedicated adults investing in these children. Even only being there for a few weeks now I can see this without a doubt. We love River City!

I like that the class my daughter is in is smaller compared to other gyms she has attended. The class seems pretty well rounded with a little bit of everything. The staff all seems pretty nice. I wish the waiting area was a little more spacious but itβs not a deal breaker. We pay about $75 a month for one class, one hour long each week. Itβs actually the best deal we found compared to other gyms.

Would recommend this gym, above all the others. Owner is a good Christian women, who has dedicated her life to helping children. Their more then just gymnastics and cheerleading coaches, their a family. With good morals and ethics. The gym is very clean, and the staff is friendly. If your looking for a gym to take your children, this is definitely the best one in the area.

We were with the gym for two years, the staff and owner are rude and unprofessional. The owne'rs own training philosophy is to yell at the kids and if they don't "get it" to physically abuse them.

This establishment needs to teach manners to its employees !!!!
The way they speak to customers is absolutely unacceptable!!! The owner cares nothing about customer experiences ... I am actually in shock !
While addressing what they said was a general βruleβ , they centreded me out Infront of everyone. If it was a general concern why arenβt your address the whole visiting group?
Also ... While working around kids having all kinds of tattoos visible is just wrong !!!
And yes this place is exteeemly dirty !!!! Their personalities match the cleanliness of their facility !!! Itβs perfect if thatβs what your looking for ....

I donβt know how this tiny gym could be for gymnastics but for competition/meets, it really SUCKS!!! Itβs too small and they charge too much, which we donβt mind paying, but they could at least invest in a good PA system. We can barely hear them and understanding is difficult.

I'm glad I did not let the previous reviews scare me away! We are new to TX and my daughter has been with the gym for 4 months now. We are beyond happy with her coach and teammates and how they have welcomed her. She loves it here! The gym does not smell bad and the staff is friendly. The owner is very involved and comes to the competitions. They also have fun team outings with the girls. Gymnastics is a tough sport and coaches have to be strict sometimes to get the gymnasts to focus and avoid injury, so please don't think staff is mean because of that. My daughter's skills have improved and I highly recommend this gym.

This place is a dungeon for kids, I had afunny feeling when my son screamed he didn't want to go back, it was the after school program to be exact, and he was 6 at the time. So a year has passed and I was going to put him back in for summer camp, he is turning 8 and he said no please no! nobody pays attention to any of the kids and they run around wild ,he almost had tears!! I felt so bad. So just FYI, But he does love jisd aventure camp!

I'm rating this high. After reading the other reviews I feel bad. We first entered this gym, it was pretty tight in there, but I asked about their trial class amd right away the owner signed my daughter up. She introduced herself and i really praise good customer service. If it wasnt for her greeting us i might have turned away. I was worried too many kids in a class but the tumbling class was great! We chose a later time for the class and my daughters class of about 6 kids were the only ones in there and that coach was awesome! He really kicked her butt and taught her ALOT in one class and she has been tumbling for a few years. We are still looking at other gyms before choosing one but this one might be the one we go back to so far. The drive was a little far for us but when u find the right coach and class it's Def worth it.

Taking my girls to this facility has been the best thing that has happened to my girls. They absolutely love the art of gymnastics. I strongly believe the teachers had a major influence on my girls growing passion for gymnastics. I would highly recommend this place. My girls have learned so much in such a period of time and it is amazing how much confidence has been instilled in them since learning gymnastics.

Bought a groupon for my two kiddos and they had their first session today. They loved it, and I loved it. My smaller one was really nervous and the coaches had to give her some extra needed attention. What impressed me was that even though they had to "baby" her a little they were firm enough with her to make her do everything the other girls did. This is important to me because I am paying them to teach my kids and I expect them to do exactly that. Props to them for nailing that perfect balance between being firm but compassionate, and going the extra mile to make sure she learned something that day. The owner happened to be out there with my kids' class and she came out into the parents room to tell me (I'm paraphrasing here) that 'my little one was nervous but don't worry with encouragement she'll get it.' My older one took to it like a fish to water, and had a great time! The first thing my kids asked me when they walked out of the gym was "can we come back!?!" We have three more sessions included in our groupon and I'm looking forward to them as much as my kiddos. I read the other reviews about the coaches being rude and the gym smelling bad. Like I said we have only been there once and so far the coaches were great, I hope I can still say the same later down the road. The parents room was a little warm but I thinks that's because so many people were in there. When I went earlier in the day to sign them up it was nice and cool in the front. The gym does smell like a gym. But I didn't think the smell was too out of the ordinary nor was it overpowering or unbearable. It just smelt like a gym.

My daughter was only here a short time, but in that time she absolutely loved it! The gym does smell a bit funky, but I expect that. I have never had a poor experience here. The coaches we're great with my daughter. And I'm actually thinking of bringing her back! The only other thing I will say is this, to everyone writing a negative review, please keep in mind that these reviews can do some serious harm to a business. If you have an issue, please take it up with the establishment first. Try to act like an adult, and if you feel you can't get anywhere that way, then do what you have to do. Just my two cents.

River city has really excellent programs for kids as well for parents with toddlers. We have an outstanding after school program for elementary school age children as well as a summer camp program. We have wonderful staff who coach the classes as well as the staff who the front desk. Sandee takes pride in her gym and loves all the kids who walk in the door.

It smelt like mildew in gym. Most employees are students get paid very little and do not seem happy or enthusiastic about being there to teach the kids . They charged me coach fees and meet fees even though my daughter wasn't going to attend. They flatter you about child performance than when kids are comfortable they raise tuition. Then they move child in "prep team" anyone can get into but makes it seems like it is due to child performance but it is just so they charge more.

Wow!! now I am second guessing the after school program. I enrolled my child today. some of the things said here are true. the gym does SMELL, really bad. with my child's allergies, im not sure that is such a good environment. there has to be something you can do to keep a place like this clean!
I will try it this week, if she doesn't like it or I prove some of these other allegations to be true, I will definitely pull my daughter out.

I would highly suggest NOT going to the 3-4 preschool gymnastics class they offer with your little one. The coach that instructed my 3 year old on her "trial" day was so rude. My little one was extremely enthusiastic at the beginning of class when a different coach lead the warm up, she would wave to me while I watched her from the observation room, she'd skipped around and talked to the other kids and coach. But once the preschool coach took over she kept pulling my 3 year old by the arm making her stand wherever the coach wanted. I've been in cheerleading so it didn't bother me to bad seeing that my little one didn't react. But then she made my 3 year old cry several times trying to force her onto the bars or to do a handstand. Clearly on her trial day she wouldn't know how to do this and I am upset that a different staff member brought my crying little one to the lobby to me to say "she's in trouble, she didn't want to stand against the wall" WHAT?! She's 3 and it's her first day, gymnastics is supposed to be fun and energetic. That coach sucked and didn't even bother to talk to me about the situation. Maybe there could have been something my little one could have worked on at home or that the coach could have done to make the experience more inviting, but nah that would require her to be a good coach which she is clearly not.

My daughter was a participant at this gym for a year. In that time I heard the owner call people out for past due balances multiple times in front of everyone. I saw coaches interferring with other coaches' teams. I even had a coach approach my other children who were not enrolled there and yell at them. The owner frequently talks about other people's finances in front of others, which is why I know that she was willing to forgive a $1,000 past due balance from a parent who worked there, but wanted to kick a single mother of 2 out for a $400 past due balance. There is favoritism that starts with the owner - cheerleading is not as important as gymnastics and that's obvious to everyone. Oh - and be warned - the tables at the location are highly valuable treasures...if your 2 year old misses the paper and gets crayon on the table, there will be yelling and you will be kicked out.
Oh - and if by chance the owner makes you an offer you can't refuse (generally around $9.hr) - you should run away fast - she has famously run off every good coach that she ever brought in. She uses them and then tosses them out. She kicked an entire cheer squad out before their last competition of the season because she decided they weren't as important as gymnastics and took up too much of her space.

My child has attended River City for almost 2 years starting when she was 18 months old. In my honest opinion, River City is a positive learning environment. It is not the same as a public school or daycare. It is a competative environment and requires kids to adapt to the challenges. They are expected to work towards improvement. I always stay and watch my daughter and observe the other classes going on and I've not seen anything that I wouldn't see at another facility.
