3 reasons why I'm cancelling my membership to Rock Gym
1) No 24/7 hr gym... Please make it, I'm joining Planet fitness just for that reason.. 😭

2) The Rock gym in the South is lacking many gym equipments

3) Women's Rock.... I keep seeing men inside.. I'm not sure if it's the owner, managers, or workers but it's uncomfortable.... I'm paying extra for a only women's gym...it's not a real problem for me but I have heard other members complain about it 😕

Hate to be a Karen ,but the service today was horrible. I was going to write a long paragraph but I’ll just try to keep it short. Not greeting us for 10mins is lack of professionalism/customer service. A simple “I’ll be right with you” would've been great. Btw I may not be a member but my mom is, in which she was there with me. To add to that, Im supporting the gym by purchasing shakes there. Telling me that “just next time you have to be a member or have a day pass” because “they’re going to get mad” is required to get shakes is just plain rude. It was my treat to my mom which is why i was paying(non-member). Never again coming here. Shake was very watery too btw, try adding a bit more ice.

Do not get a contract membership with them, you are signing your life away. They will not let you cancel for any reason. You need a doctors excuse or proof you no longer live in Laredo. I wanted to cancel mine and my girlfriend’s membership for PERSONAL reasons but that isn’t good enough. It’s ridiculous. DO NOT DO IT!!!

I will say watch what you sign for here. If you decide to cancel, you have to pay the remainder of your contract, for every month. I just went in to cancel my
Membership since customer service failed to call me about my cancellation. Apparently they are going to charge me for the next month because it’s less than a 30 day notice before the next payment date, which is just a dirty way of extracting another payment. Then they never gave me the free month I was promised when I signed up. I asked when I first signed up about the free month promotion and they said it will be tacked on at the end of your contract, dirty I thought but whatever. Now 18 months later when I ask about that free month it was never applied because apparently someone never put the name of the person who originally referred me to get the free month. When I clearly mentioned the name the first time. I also don’t believe that the free month required a referral but it was offered as perk to signing up. This is the shadiest company I have ever seen, professional scammers. If you do sign up with them, don’t sign up for a long term contract, you’re better off signing up with any other gym place. I feel so disrespected. Their response was they couldn’t cover the free month because it doesn’t show any notes in their end. So I pay the price for their employees mistakes. Unbelievable.

Becareful when joining this gym. I no longer was under contract. When I canceled they made me sign a paper to pay $45 dollars cancelation fee. My contract was over and they made me sign another document which makes no sense. I fulfilled my 2 years of original contract I should be able to cancel without being charged. They greedy company. Now they sold that debt to Aldous and associates and are charging me $255 dollars. Go elsewhere.

Solid gym with a great floor plan of machines and free weights. They have a variety of machines for just about every muscle group and plenty of benches to go with the free weights.

My only 2 complaints:
1. The dumbbells are a hot mess! It’s easy to work around this, but when 1 person refuses to read the sticker that says 50’s and they put the 20’s there, it’s just a domino effect after that. So may the odds be ever in your favor when seeking your proper dumbbells. It’s similar to a game of where’s Waldo.

2. I called ahead 1 time and I spoke to a front desk clerk about my situation as far as my length in Laredo - 10 Days. Both times I was told the same thing as far as my 10 days for working out. I could use a 3 Day free trial, and then buy a 1 week/7 day pass. This was perfect for my situation!

The reason why I gave them 4 stars is because they falsely stated the criteria of the 7 day/ 1 week pass. This in return made them charge my buddy for an additional week, when he still had 3 days left on his first 1 week pass. He purchased his pass on 7/27/23 which should have been good until 8/2. However, on 7/31 they said he needed to renew cause the 1 week pass is only good from Monday to Monday. < I’ve never been to a gym that does this.

No matter what the truth is, the staff need to get on the same page as their management and owners, this way they can publicly advertise what’s accurate, and not change the criteria of a pass, just cause.

Overall I would return again.

If you do go here, just be mindful of what you are purchasing and ask the right questions as far as your weekly, monthly, or yearly membership.

Please avoid this place at all costs !! You’re better off going to another gym. I’ve been having nothing but a bunch of bad experiences in this gym that I never had in past gyms. 3 issues. First my contract was for 1 year and then when it is about to expire supposedly it turns out it was 16 months so now because of a mistake that an employee did and never sended me a copy of my contract at the time, now I have to pay for that employees mistakes because the staff doesn’t want to be responsible. What kind of business is this ??? Secondly, unless you’re a woman you’re not allowed to use many of the equipment here like the pool, studio, spinning machines,etc. But many times half of the machines here are broken. Last but not least, due to a recent accident we had I can’t put my membership on hold even if I bring a doctors note but to cancel I need a doctors note ? Staff needs to be more professional when providing information and need to take responsibility when they commit an error, because it’s not fair that I have to pay since they were the ones wrong. As soon as my membership expires I will never spend another dollar here!

The ac at the women center has to be out of order for more than 2 weeks.

I thought they would have fixe the ac by now. Considering we have reached 120 degrees in laredo daily.

When I called management, they said they do not know when the ac will be fixed because it is pending insurance... like how insane! For the price that they are charging us monthly, they cannot even bother to fix the ac.

If I wanted to work out in an oven, I'd have signed up for crossfit.

The staff is friendly,the gym is always clean and i like that they have a place to make their shakes. The machines are great,nothing too old and a few new ones as well. The music they play is doodoo and so loud I can’t hear from my own airpods in peace. The folks are nice at least. Though they need to look around if there are people using two machines and I had a chick tell me that she was using the leg press even though she was already using a leg machine herself. I didn’t care and used another similar machine but it was kinda annoying.
Case in point they need to lower the volume and bass. That’s all, haha.

I am having a bad experience with the Costumer service.
The last month of my contract (April)I had called to cancel. The lady on the phone assured me that my contract would be cancelled and I would no longer get charged.

4 months later I'm checking my banks statements because my budget wasn't making sense. Turns out I had been getting charged at a higher rate.

When I spoke to a manager about it I was told that I had to mail in a written notice & that it was my fault for not reading the contract. While that is true, I should have been advised & told about it when I called to cancel.

I read the contract and in fact it does state that I had to MAIL A WRITTEN LETTER to the gym 30 days prior. If I would have been told this over the phone there would have been no problem but I was misinformed and assured that my contract would not be renewed.

Manager's tone was a bit defensive about the situation I'm guessing thinking that I would claim a refund but I did not. I wanted them to be aware that their employees are either not properly trained or misinforming other people or just misdirecting them like I was.

I'm upset because i had to go and read the fine print rather than have them be transparent or helpful and tell me the right procedure. That just gives me a bad business impression. They don't look out for their members experience.

I understand that a contract is a contract, that's why I didn't ask for a refund I wanted them to take accountability for leaving out those details that in the end only hurt the consumer.

Like I said, if I would have been told about this procedure since the beginning I wouldn't have had a problem but things were not clear nor transparent.
I wish they would have looked out for me and mentioned the right procedure for cancellation. Instead, i paid over $200 which I will not recuperate :/

This place was solid back in the day, i called their offices for several months asking for prices to join. Always a girl saying they call me back and no response, had to join another gym. Then i called to ask about just crossfit membership the guy i spoke with says they cant give me a price unless i show up in person and they sell me on the spot. Told them i was out of town and commute between laredo and other cities, needed a crossfit gym and was wanting to join (since they had good coaches back then). The guy kept insisting the "owners" want you in person so you can be pressured into signing up on the spot. This is shady, obviously they dont respect the public to give out a simple price, they need you cornered. For someone who puts up so many biblical stuff in their business, they obviously cant be outright and forthcoming w something as simple as a price. They lost my business and my companies business going forward. Shame they used to be good.

The business currently does not have a mask mandate in place. I have been a loyal customer of Rock gym since 2010 but I will no longer return to this gym anytime in the near future. Instead, i recommend Abien Energy it is a smaller gym which currently has more customers than Rock’s gym due to their mask mandate. I am sad to permanently leave Rock’s gym and it also makes me sad to see the gym that is usually rustling with people as empty as it is. I will be cancelling three memberships today and all my family will be moving to Abien Energy. Furthermore, the customers are not following proper social distancing while also not wearing masks. Prior to this, I sued to see many people with special needs attending the gym. However now i do not because Rock,s gym is a secret hazard. I will be sharing my experiences with my friends and on social media. I hope Rock gym comes to their senses but after seeing the gym’s true colors I do not plan on returning.

Yo pago por mes por qué viajo dos veces al años osea dos meses al año no puedo ir al Gym,,pregunté que si podría poner stop Ami membresía de un año o de 18 meses cada que salgo fuera de la ciudad ,DIJERON QUE NO,así que me obligan a pagar 65 al mes más 5 de guardería,es demaciado caro, deberían tener un sistema donde a las personas que contratan por un año o 18 meses si salen de viaje puedan detener esos meses que no estarán en la ciudad y así no perderlos y regalarles el dinero.comparado con los precios de otros lugares es demaciado caro ,así como también muchas máquinas por ejemplo bicicletas no funcionan.

Visited this place while visiting family in Laredo. Relatively small place, but the equipment is very well picked out. I particularly enjoyed the Arsenal leg equipment, which is rare to see in gyms. The weekly price is very fair. Staff was friendly as well.

This gym has it all. Weights, cardio equipment, clean facilities, large aerobic movement room with lots of mirrors, cycling. A huge plus is that it has its own juice bar for protein shakes and healthy juice drinks. Any NPC member with a valid membership can come to gym for free to workout if you’re in town.

I like to go to the gym and it's a nice one at a cheaper price. I feel that they can improve on their cleanliness (primarily in the bathrooms, locker area and showers) and to not have so many machines out of order. Definite go-to for anyone that is a regular gym goer. It's an excellent substitute for anyone looking for a cheaper gym with a wide variation of fitness classes. Time schedule from opening to closing provides flexibility for both casual gym goers and fitness enthusiasts. Maintenance and atmosphere in the gym are a 10/10. No complaints whatsoever.

My wife canceled her membership after the end of the contract and they kept charging me for a second person. Due to my busy schedule I did not go to the gym for a while, and whenever I call they say the manager will call me back but never did. Finally I was able to go to the gym to speak to them and they refunded me, and after 2 months they started again charging me double. Its very frushtraiting custimer service, and very unacceptable.

The women's gym is nice. They have upgraded machines. Can get packed around the later hours of the day when people get out of work, but I've never had to wait to use a machine. Machines are usually very clean and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Rock fitness co-ed gym is a great facility. They have a very complete free weights section integrated with many cardio and accessory machines. I also know they offer several classes as well as an all female facility across the parking lot. In the co-ed gym, The 1st floor mens restroom and upper facility mens restroom could definitely use more paper towel and hand soap stations. There is only one for each floor, which can be quite inconvenient at times when there is more than one person occupying the hand wash area.

This is an ok gym. I like that there are very few people there early in the morning (6am). The biggest issue I have with them is that they DO NOT MAINTAIN EQUIPMENT. Of the 14 treadmills, maybe 4 work correctly. There are numerous damaged machines (broken seat adjusters, worn down padding, bent structure, etc; and it does not appear that they are planning on fixing them. I also noticed that they do not organize free weights. By and large all weights are scattered with no sense of order. The staff is not out in the gym improving the atmosphere. They are typically hanging out in the juice bar (really just a small space where you can buy protien). They are nice, but won't engage you during the workout or organize the mess of a weight rack. They enjoy playing oldies instead of pumped up gym music. I also see that women have an exclusive gym that is seemingly better maintained- but men are not afforded such luxuries. They have also developed a smell issue these past few months, likely due to a lack of cleanliness.
