Honestly? This gym is not very great. After having a membership at Freedom Fitness in Corpus, I have to say this gym is pretty bad compared to that. The machines are in need of repair or update, the AC doesn't work and the fans are often off or broken by another member or just by being so old. The place is filthy all the time, even though the staff cleans it maybe once a week. I will say the staff is friendly enough, but that's the only good thing about it. I would have joined Planet Fitness, but they are too small and did not have free barbells for deadlifting.

Been going to this gym on and off for a few years now and the only reason I give a 4 star and not 5 is because the gym staff can do a better job at keeping the place clean. The floors need to be vacuumed terribly. Can’t even sit on the floor to do any sort of workout without getting human hair and pet hair on my clothes, along with other stuff like dust, tiny shreds of paper, etc. yes I could use a yoga mat but those are also disgustingly dirty and turning black from the floor being dirty and people not cleaning the mats after they are done using them.

I joined Rock's- Portland a couple weeks ago because it is only a couple minutes from my home. I had been a member for a few years at a franchise gym in Corpus Christi. I've been able to find all the equipment my previous gym has and the cost is the same. I like how there are plenty of spray bottles and clean microtowels for all the members to use. No more back and forth to get the spray bottle and paper towel dispenser. There's also child care available which the national chain gym I was at didn't have. It took me a few times to get used to less TV's than where I was before, but now I realize how distracting they were. Whether you are a beginner just needing a little cardio and light workout or a serious competitive body builder they got you covered. If you are in the Portland area definitely save a trip across the bridge and give Rock's a try.

Rocks gym has so much potential if they maintained and fixed things in a timely manner. The whole reason I decided to come to this gym is for the sauna, and here we are a month later and it’s still broken. Everything takes at least 2 - 3 months to get fixed.

I love this gym, really had that old school powerlifter/bodybuilder feel. Tons of iron and steel great variety in machines and different bars and grips. The outside is perfect for alternative lifting plus they have the strong man stuff! Some of the staff are super helpful and always friendly and making they’re presence know and keeping things clean. Its unfortunate the younger staff seem to just take selfies and talk behind the counter without doig alot else, ive also never been to this gym and seen the weights racked i dont think its a employee problem because i see them try, there are also signs literally everywhere i think thats more gym patrons just not caring which is a ego problem not a gym problem. Overall though one of the best gyms ive been to in the country keep it up Rocks!

Best gym I have ever been to! Plenty of cardio and free weight equipment, everyone is very welcoming. Child care is AMAZING! Both of my kids are special needs, and they absolutely love coming here and the staff is wonderful w them. That has also helped me stay consistent with training and continually improving myself. I love this gym! It caters to the newbie, the bodybuilders, and everyone in between. While there are quite a few people that know what they’re doing, everyone I’ve ran into, staff and guests, have been really friendly. Mind you, the traffic times Google suggests are pretty spot on: Mondays at 4-5pm can get packed but peak time trickles of over the course of the week. It’s got an outdoor workout area, daycare (don’t use so I can’t speak to it), theirs bathrooms are clean and they have a sauna in the bathrooms! My only critique is that some of the treadmills don’t work all the time. Other than that, this gym is awesome and worth trying!

I switched gyms as my prior gym didnt have personal trainers nor the equipment I wanted for the next step of my fitness journey. As I had some spare time, I got a personal trainer who showed me the gym and guided me to improve my form and confidence in the gym. I highly recommend Emily as she was kind and encouraging throughout training sessions and remained fully engaged in improving my workouts. She sent my progress afterwards with videos of my form so I can continue to improve in the future!

The workers will answer any of your questions.
The workers keep everything so clean there.
When you walk in you have access to a towel and disinfectant for the workout machines so that’s a plus.
Access to a huge bathroom with a sauna also showers. And massage chairs that I use often.
For you parents, they provide child care here.

It is yout typical backstreet gym with all the equipment you need. It reminds me of a mini version of Golds Gym in Venice Beach, California ( The Mecca). The staff was professional and there was more than enough equipment options to meet my needs.

I love Rocks Gym. Some of the employees are helpful, while others don't talk to you, and just sit behind the desk in the office texting or hiding. At least those, some employees that are helpful, they're also keeping the Gym clean and making themselves known to the customer in case questions arise. Rocks could do better on there hiring.

Facebook comments were turned off after they were called out for playing gangster rap at high volume in a " Family Friendly " gym. Staff ignores customer concerns if they do not fit their narrative. I was a member under the old owner and had hope that it would improve under the new management. Alas it has not. I cannot recommend a gym that forces music on you that you do not want to hear. The music was 84db on a sound meter at 36ft away from the speaker. When I asked them to turn it down it was turned up and attitude was given to me by a staff member. As bad as the old owner was this was never a problem before. Sad. They also delete comments that shine a negative light on their practices on FB ( hence comments being turned off ). I wonder if the owner is aware of this?
