The Bar Method Southlake is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles. Not only does it reshape your entire body, but it allows you to channel your inner strength and leave class feeling strong, confident and poised. Highly-trained instructors customize the exercises to ensure they are safe and effective for any age and every body, including modifications for pregnant women and students with injuries. The best workout EVER! I love working out and i hurt my L4 and L5 4 yrs ago and I was having a hard time finding a place that I would get a great workout and not have pain afterwards! Updates Dec 2024:
This review marks 13 years of Bar Method and nearly 8 years at this amazing studio. I hit 2,063 classes as of yesterday and will continue on - because the Bar Method NEVER gets boring. It always challenges you and innovates each year. It is SAFE - show me a workout you can do for over a decade - 3-5x/week, get results, and never get injured? You won't... at least I have yet to hear of one! :) Anyways - this last year was different: I lost 60lbs of postpartum weight since my review this time last year. I actually have increased my muscle mass while getting back to my healthy size. This workout lowers my blood pressure to be a calm Mom to 3 kids 4 and under, has been a huge part of getting my confidence back and healing from PPA. I'm off all my thyroid meds, my inflammation markers are back to normal and honestly? I think my body is STRONGER having gone through back-to-back HARD pregnancies and c-sections (including one set of twins) than it was before babies. Thank you, Bar Method Southlake for encouraging me more than you know. I still love calling this my 'happy place' - because it is!

Update Dec 2023: still here and still loving the workout that changed it ALL for me! 12 years of Bar, 5 years of owning a studio and taught for 6. I’ll always say this is the best place in Southlake!

I'll shoot you (aka whoever reads this review) straight: my sister Nicole and I used to co-own the studio, so we are not 'just biased' - we're downright deep in a long-term relationship with The Bar Method to the tune of 10+ years.

If you want to know why 'the method,' and this studio in particular is special, just walk in the door. Come in and say hello, get a tour, call the front desk. Better yet, sign up for your first class. Every single Instructor and member were you reading a review like this at one time. That's really all it takes...a few clicks and you're in the door to try something that could (and most likely will if you stick with it - I challenge you to ONE year of focused consistency) change you. Or better you. Who couldn't use a little of both depending on the day, the year or the season of life?

Inwardly if you're unsatisfied mentally and physically, we have a place for you to find healing, strength like you never knew and a team and community of members who want to walk alongside you. The workout is designed in a way that changes YOUR mental toughness as much as your body. And it does it FAST. Best part? You can literally do this for a decade+ injury free and always be challenged.

DECEMBER 2024 UPDATE:
Almost 1700 classes in and Bar Method Southlake remains my favorite workout bar none! All the instructors are excellent and always seem to find ways to increasingly challenge veteran clients while still offering a workout that is approachable for beginners and those needing safe modifications due to pregnancy or injury.

DECEMBER 2023 UPDATE:
What else can I say? Going on six years as a Bar Method Southlake client and still as addicted as ever. Since my last review, the Bar Method has continued to evolve and improve their already challenging yet rewarding exercise regimen. Bar Cardio has replaced Bar Move for a truly heart-pumping sweat-fest, and the line-up now includes a Bar Strength format, which incorporates weight work throughout the entire class to increase bone density, boost your metabolic rate, and more deeply engage your muscles to—you guessed it—improve strength. Further, the instructors now have more latitude to vary the sequencing and content of the signature Method class, which keeps this Bar Method veteran continuously challenged and coming back for more.

DECEMBER 2022 UPDATE:
As I approach my five-year anniversary at The Bar Method Southlake, I have taken over 1000 classes and I am eternally grateful for the myriad benefits I have reaped both physically and mentally thanks to the amazing instructors and the tried and true method upon which each workout is built. I love how in each class I am inspired and supported by such a fabulous community of members - some of whom I’ve worked out alongside for the past five years and others who have more recently caught on to what I continue to believe is the best safe and sustainable fitness regimen out there.

AUGUST 2021 UPDATE:
It’s been over 3.5 years since I began my health and fitness journey at The Bar Method Southlake, and I would still recommend it as strongly as ever. Just the fact that this continues to be my primary workout regimen is telling — the Method is not only safe and sustainable for my body over the long term, but it continues to challenge me, both mentally and physically, day in and day out. This past year saw an ownership change and I am happy to say that everything I loved about the studio under Erin and Nicole is still intact, while new owners (and long-time instructors) Elizabeth and Ashton continue to build and improve upon such a solid, wonderful foundation. The Bar Method Southlake continues to be my happy place!!!

Sure, some things have changed: more class times (no excuse not to make it there), a couple new instructors (who are AMAZING), and even some new class formats and exercises (which are KILLER). However, other things remain consistent: a clean and welcoming studio, an incredible group of dynamic and passionate instructors who will challenge you to push yourself, a friendly community of inspiring and supportive members, and classes thoughtfully crafted with safe yet effective exercises that help transform your body and build mental fortitude. Over the past couple years Bar Method has proven to be the optimal workout for me to strengthen, tone and elongate my muscles — and lift my seat! — without aggravating but rather helping stave off old running injuries. This was also the only workout that I was able to do safely and comfortably through my entire pregnancy (even with the necessary modifications, I always got a killer workout) and the first one that I was eager to jump right back into afterward. Everything about the Southlake studio is AWESOME!!! Owners Nicole and Erin are so genuine and friendly — as are all the amazing instructors who never fail to make classes challenging yet fun. While you can’t grab a cocktail or beer at this local “bar,” Bar Method Southlake is THE place to go if “you want to go where everybody knows your name.” ;)

Knowing that it was time for me to change my fitness routine as my body was screaming at me to stop pounding on my knees, I found a Groupon for The Bar Method Southlake and thought I would give it a try. I am a lifelong "jock" and gym rat, so I my expectations were that this workout was for dancers, and would be more grace than grunt. Well, I was wrong. Yes, it's absolutely more graceful than banging out the rower or the treadmill. But its focus on form, posture, and physical therapy-related exercises was precisely what my body needed. My knees no longer hurt, and my lifelong basketball thighs are leaner than they've ever been. Two and a half years later, I have found a home at Bar Method Southlake. The instructors are the best in the business, bar none (see what I did there?). I cannot recommend The Bar Method Southlake enough, and am so thankful that I found them!

Bar Method is my crack! Keeps me sane, strong, and most definitely prevents injuries as I combine it with other activities like CrossFit and cycling. I used to have a new injury every few weeks and I haven’t had one since I started Bar, 7 months ago. My flexibility has increased, and I definitely notice an increase in toning. Bar Method Southlake has been one of the best things I found in 2023. After years of running since middle school, I found myself in a lot of pain after a half marathon in February and decided to take time off of running. I didn't have anything to replace that activity in my life until a friend introduced me to The Bar Method. Every time I take a class I leave feeling stronger and more empowered. The instructors always find ways to encourage during their cues in class and make me want to push myself to stay in the shakes longer.

The thing that has stood out to me most and I tell all my friends is how intentional everyone at Bar Method Southlake is. I wasn't sure that I would join and keep coming back once my friends and my trail period ended, but knowing every time I walked into the studio I was greeted by name and known made me feel less like a number and more like I belonged in the community. Where to begin? I had participated in another type of exercise class for the first 4 years of moving here until I injured my knee from all the running. A friend of mine introduced me to Bar Method. I had taken one class a million years ago in CA. I started off with twice a week only to increase this to unlimited so I can go 4-5 times a week! I am addicted for so many reasons! The worst experience ever!

You have no rights to register some classes you wanted, even though you signed waivers. Be cautious when you purchase!
And I felt discriminated from my personal experiences with the studio, they neither respect nor know the clients, but tell you what you can or can’t do!!! Like they know your body better than yourself??? And point back at me that I am not grateful by asking about my own rights???!!!

Update:
I’ve been coming to Bar Method off & on since 2017. In 2019, I decided to purchase the Club Bar Unlimited Membership. BEST DECISION EVER!

With my severe RA, I’m very limited in my range of motion & my joints are very tender, but with modifications & the carpeted floor, I am able to enjoy a workout I never thought was possible. I have been attending more frequently & have noticed a major change in in my body. One major symptom of RA is fatigue. My fatigue has pretty much gone away! Yes, gone away!!! My energy level has shocked not only me, but my family. Since 2019, everyday tasks have become a lot easier to manage. The fabulous instructors at Bar Method have continued their encouragement for me since 2017. I can’t say enough of such a great group of instructors & the Bar Method of Southlake community.🤍🖤

Being a more recent member of the Southlake studio, I still feel so at home. I moved at the beginning of 2021 to TX and knew I needed to keep up my routine at The Bar Method. I had taken class at the SLK studio a few times prior when visiting the area, so I was familiar. Where do I start??? This place is hands down the best barre studio out there. I have been doing "Barre" classes for years of various franchises. I moved to DFW and discovered The Bar Method 2.5 years ago. You have not truly done a barre class until you have taken The Bar Method class. All of the instructors truly care about form to prevent injury. They know your name, and they get to know you as a person. I have made many friends since embarking on my The Bar Method journey summer of 2017. They will modify exercises if you have any injuries or are pregnant. I did The Bar Method 5-6 days a week during my 3rd pregnancy and took class the day before I was due lol....I was back into my pre-pregnancy clothes 4 months after baby number 3 and have put on muscle mass, toned up, gained core strength, cross trained for marathons, and can almost do the splits now! To this day, i continue to attend 5-6 days a week. Seriously take a chance. You won't regret it! It's my happy place!

Bar Method is changing my life. I’ve been a client for a year, and in less than 4 months I went down an entire clothing size (with no dietary changes). But more than that, I became stronger and more flexible with every class. I can actually do push-ups and split stretches! (Which was not the case when I started) These classes are perfect if you are looking for low impact but high intensity training with lots of juicy stretching in between. My daughter and I feel like we have found what we’ve been looking for!! Nicole, Erin, and Alex (I haven’t met the rest of the teachers yet) are incredible as instructors, encouragers, and as role models.

First of all, the program is solid. Adjustments to each person’s form are done safely, individually, and somehow in the middle of counting, teaching, and encouraging each person by name.

Second, the studio just has a great feel. Cutest merchandise, lockers, and even socks 🧦 if you forget yours.

This place is incredible. I have bad knees and thought I would feel self-conscious around so many smaller or more fit women, but they're all too busy pushing themselves to their limit to look at anything but a mirror. I have some joint injuries from high impact sports and I have had no issues with them while taking classes here. The classes continue to challenge but not in a impossible way. “Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name.” Everyone has an innate desire to be seen, to be known. The fitness aspect of The Bar Method Southlake is top of the line. But the former characteristic is ultimately what keeps you coming back again and again.

It’s not just the owners, sisters Nicole and Erin, who make you feel like they are genuinely happy you are here. It’s the entire culture of this place. When you walk through the front door, everyone (from the front desk to every single instructor) seems to light up like you’re the most important person they’ll see today. They call you by your name from that moment, all during class, and as you’re leaving, they seem sad to see you go. No, not like The Illuminati, lol. It’s not a cult-like, syrupy counterfeit hospitality that you may have experienced elsewhere. It’s authentic and it’s something this Seattle transplant could see through in a heartbeat, if it was anything less than real. I love it!

As a bonus, which I guess would be the first reason for working out, I’m in better shape than I have been in a LONG time. As a runner at 43 years old, I had begun to feel aches in my knees and sometimes experienced lower back pain and tight hamstrings. Since coming to The Bar Method Southlake, I no longer feel a single ache in my hammies, knees or back when I run. Oh, and let me tell you about my trouble spot.

My whole family on my Dad’s side has this jiggly fatty area on the inner part of the leg just inside of the knee. It’s just how it is. Some of us really #blessed people got the genetic short end of the stick and I had accepted that. I had moved forward with my life, knowing that I would carry on my family’s fatty-inner-knee generational curse. Well, guess what?! Miraculously, the one trouble spot that has always remained flabby (from BIRTH) is now as tight as a drum. I can’t even pinch that area, it’s so tight. THAT is a bonafide MIRACLE. Sorry Grandma Etta, I’m not following in your footsteps! #thecurseisbroken

In class, just when you think you’ve perfected a move, the instructors will gently correct your form to kindly remind you that you can still improve- that the journey is never over, and that there will always be another challenge to take on (Yes, it’s a metaphor for life- go ahead and put that in your pocket for later). It’s a love/hate in the moment- because progress is hard! “Strength and Grace” is what they say you should possess, but I’m pretty sure my eyes are shooting daggers at the instructor who is setting me straight. When you do something well, you are given quick accolades on your improvement in the presence of the class, which brings an unavoidable smile to my face every time. I can’t help it- I dare you to try it and see if you can do otherwise. I literally am smiling right now thinking about how I try to keep a straight face in class when I’m given kudos.

Obviously the length of this review, *cough* book, points to the fact that I just can’t say enough about The Bar Method Southlake. I’m obsessed. If I had to sum it all up in one word: Just get here! (Ok that’s three, but you know what I mean!)

I found Bar Method Southlake a few months after moving to Texas. I was not only looking for a great workout but I was looking for a strong community, and that is what you get at this studio. The instructors are amazing, the community of women is empowering and the workout is challenging. Every class is different and you work every muscle group! I am so happy that I can be a part of the Bar Method Southlake community!

I’ve been going to this studio since this spring. At first I bought just a 10 class pack but now I’m on the unlimited membership. I’m hooked. I notice a huge difference in my posture, flexibility, and strength. Oh I’ve also lost some weight too! The best part is how warm and friendly everyone is. It really feels like a family.

Hands down one of the best workouts!!! I have met so many amazing women too! I am more toned and flexible now because of Bar Method then I was when I was competing in Ironman 140.6 triathlons! How appropriate that I write this review today. I hit a milestone, my 100th class!!! I started at Bar Method Southlake, March 1, 2018. There are so many reasons I'm motivated by my Bar Method classes. I try to attend a minimum of 4 classes a week. I started to notice changes in my body once I committed to that number and my husband noticed too! That in itself encourages me. I love, love, love the staff!!! They are so encouraging and in tune to me, my form, and motivation. Their little comments during class and when I walk in and out of the door truly brighten my day. Even though every class is still a challenge for me, I'm encouraged and drawn to want to do better. I cannot sing enough praises for Nicole and Erin. They are amazing young women! Their attention to detail makes Bar Method Southlake a wonderful place to workout!

I walked into 'The Bar' Southlake by myself, one month shy of my 4th child turning 1year, extremely out of shape with ZERO energy. Within one month I surprised myself by pushing through ALL the push-up sequences with no reset and within 2 months I noticed I didn't 'leak' when I sneezed, coughed or laughed!! I am stronger. I have energy and stamina. I feel feminine and powerful because of Bar Method and every single instructor you have training! I love this studio in Southlake. The owners are very friendly and always helpful. I have 2 injuries and have had several medical set backs since joining and they are always accommodating and very quick to help me adjust the exercises so I won’t hurt myself. The instructors are amazing.

I recently moved to Southlake and needed to find a new gym , at my previous gym in California I took group classes and enjoyed them , but finding Bar Method Southlake has been great . The classes are challenging but effective, the instructors are warm and friendly and extremely knowledgeable, I so enjoy the classes and in just a few weeks have seen great results.

I have been going to Bar Method a little over a year and love it! The results are amazing. At my age, I knew I needed some kind of weight training, but I hated weights and knew nothing about them. This gives you a low impact, whole body workout that is physical therapy based, so it is easy on your joints. All the teachers go through an extensive training program. During class they consistently adjust and correct your posture and form, always helping you get better and to ensure you’re targeting the proper muscle group as well as staying in good alignment. The owners have created an encouraging and supportive environment that consistently builds comradery with all the teachers and students. The Bar Method is THE BEST workout!! I grew up dancing and in cheerleading so I was used to doing workouts with other people. The Bar Method is such a fun and welcoming environment for people of all ages! There are modifications to help with my lower back sensitivity so it allows me to continue doing workouts everyday! I have only been going a month & since I have alternated Bar Method with Spin classes (instead of 6 days a week of spin) I am down 3 pounds & an inch in my waist & hips! The Bar Method is such and awesome workout that works all of the major muscle groups and a few minor ones that will make your whole body shake. It's like being in an earthquake for an hour, except nothing gets destroyed. My body is a long stronger and I feel graceful and more serene since I started. I have been doing Bar Method for over a year now but bar for over 10 years, and this studio is by far one of the healthiest workout environments I have ever been apart of.The owners Nicole and Erin are truly genuine women who are both extremely passionate about their community and healthy living. Their staff directly reflects this by staying in tune with their clients needs and goals. I started doing bar because of the low impact factor. I needed this due to serious hip pain I had developed from years of gymnastics. Doing Bar consistently has strengthened my legs/glutes which helped eliminate my hip pain completely!!! Lastly, after having four kids and having done every workout possible to get my body back, this is by far the best work out to keep me super toned/ tight and one of the only workouts that I can see next day results!
Again, I really love this place, the community and environment is so much fun to be apart of.

Growing up as a dancer and studying biology with a focus on kinesiology in college I was looking for a workout that was total body, focused on correct form and alignment, easy on the spine, and effective. I have felt very challenged during classes and enjoy the variation of exercises in each class to keep things interesting but consistent. What I enjoy most though is the how knowledgeable and hands on the staff is. They take time to individually correct you to make sure you are doing things with proper alignment and are very detail oriented while being friendly and warm. I recommend this workout to people of all ages and fitness levels.
