This gym has some unique pieces and I love the vibe. But the major problem with this gym is NO AC. I started feeling symptoms of heat exhaustion while working out here and had no choice but to cancel. Seems like they have a disagreement with the landlord about who is going to pay to fix it. Also took off a star for the MMA owner who disrespects individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans by parking his fancy car in one of the only handicapped parking spots.

I don’t know how I can do a leg day here without getting a heat stroke, there’s no A/C in Texas where it’s typically hot 8-9 months out of the year. I understand that they want to capture that “old school” “hardcore” vibe, but you can’t do a workout without making your clothes drench in sweat. Another bad thing is the sorry state of the equipment, the benches aren’t stable, some machines break and stay broken for weeks to months, and instead of fixing stuff or getting new equipment they just spray paint stuff to make it seem new. Terrible maintenance, no A/C, and inflated membership prices. Don’t go here.

Great gym that’s 24/7 and hard to beat for the price. Plenty of old school equipment that gets what you need done. Sauna is perfect and hot. Restrooms are well maintained. They also have a MMA gym attached, which is called Storm MMA. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for 24/7 access.

Sketchy/greedy business owners. Gym is rundown. Finally paid their ac bill this month after 5-10 years of having no ac (in TEXAS) now that they have competition. Blame their landlords for everything. Pay employees $8/hr so they’re always understaffed and hiring. If you comment anything that isn’t positive on social media they’ll block you like a teenage girl.

I’ve been looking for a good gym in Temple, Texas where I come occasionally for work, specifically a boxing gym/a gym with boxing equipment. I called before hand and keyanna greeted me politely as well as gave me a tour around the gym. I ended up loving it! Great amenities and equipment for all levels of working out. Needless to say, I will be coming back to this gym whenever I’m in town. I love it.

Was in town for about a week. After getting kicked out of planet fitness I decided to try this place out. This is Definitely the spot to go if you are just looking to get in a good workout without worrying about people bothering you. Will only come here any time I’m in town now. All the staff was nice that I encountered. As someone who enjoys steel plates and old school equipment this would be my full time gym if I still lived here. Price for the pass was $15 a day or you could do $30 that covers a week.

BEWARE!!! PLEASE READ!! My boyfriend went to this gym for 2 years, bought products, and spent plenty of money here. Had to cancel because we moved. He went in per company policy to cancel. Staff had no clue what was going on some girl left our paperwork on a stack and it got lost. Now, somehow, this is our fault and they refuse to refund our money for an incorrect charge? Went through 3 people who never called back and no one passed the message on. When we called back we were greeted with an "I don't care it's not my money" attitude. When we said we would come down and wait for the manager to have this corrected they asked us to not come. Better gyms all over town with staff who care and want your business.

The only con is no AC which in my opinion doesn't belong in the gym however it would be nice to have in the restroom or locker area. Everything you can imagine available they even have a Westside Barbell Reverse Hyper, the only gym I've seen in Texas with one.

2023 Update:
This is a very affordable gym with a lot of equipment and easy going people. Some of the equipment has more miles on it, but I have almost never had to pass on a station due to traffic like I have at every other gym I've ever used. UPDATE: Lately I've had to pass because stuff is broken.
The sauna is amazing, but frequently broken by people who apparently can't read the fifteen signs that say please don't poor water on the electric heater. UPDATE: I guess they got tired of people complaining that the building was hot and tired of paying for the thing to be fixed when idiots poured water on it. It's been down for months.
It can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, but frankly that's part of the ambience. Field houses are basically barns next to a football field you work out in. This beats that. UPDATE: Temperature has been fine all winter and early spring.
The only complaints I ever had were that in the years I worked out there the men's bathroom was rarely very clean, and there weren't good places to change clothes before/after a workout. UPDATE: the bathroom is grosser than ever.
I'd still stick to this one out over a crowded treadmill farm playing today's hit music on repeat, but I'm less of a fan than I was. Dear Ownership: It's time for some reinvestment.

If I could give zero stars I would. This gym is terrible. Equipment is run down or broken. Almost every barbbell in that gym is bent. Don’t even get me started on the dumbbells. Be prepared to use 20lbs and have to jump to either 40lbs or 60. The staff doesn’t care about the facility. They are either talking by the front desk or outside smoking. Probably one of the worst gyms i have ever been to

Absolutely no Air conditioning. It is miserable. They don't have floor fans to circulate the air like the Harker Heights location. Harker heights is extremely hot as well. Temple is the worse of the 2. I hate it here. They refuse to refund my money. They have a sauna. Why? The entire gym Is a stuffy sauna.

I think the photos speak for themselves. Really poor maintenance in almost every regard. Machines, temperature control, sanitation. Upkeep for any of these is really non existent. (The wipe is after my 3rd wipe down of one of their bars. Foul)

It's always miserably hot in there and over half the
machines are broken and they're being held together
with spare plates and duct tape. They never have the AC on and 95% of the time the fans are off. The equipment is clearly not being taken care of as their leaving my hands in dirt, rust and grime even after initial wipe down before i start my workout. The staff is hit or miss. Sometimes they just make me pay and let me go workout and other times they have me write down all my information for whatever reason. Definitely not worth $15 for a day pass as the only time i ever go here is when i have to; on days my own gym is closed.

Don’t go here if you’re a female especially if you’re younger & tend to workout alone. An incident occurred at the gym and when the situation was brought up to management it was handled very poorly, basically they ignored it & swept it under the rug hoping it would go away. Management lacks professionalism and their care/ability to provide a safe environment.

They have at least 1 machine for every muscle. I go to the gym at night and there are usually 5 people or less, which is nice. No one steals anything, I've asked several strangers for help (spotting, tips, etc.) and have been very friendly to me. Can't ask for more.

I am a former member of this gym, when I come home I normally buy the 24hr passes for the weekend. This past weekend May 2019, I was home visiting family and I attended the field house in temple. This has been my all time favorite gym, sauna, 24hr, nice staff, and VERY affordable. Unfortunately when I was home, I was working out, and I noticed 8 machines were out of order.. that is very uncommon for this place. They have spent more money on painting the walls than they have on updating equipment. I will be coming home this fall and I can’t say I will attend this gym anymore and it’s frustrating. I sure hope big changes come. Once was a great gym to go to.

Worst experience ever. I cancelled my membership because I was offered a free membership elsewhere. I provided a notice well in advance and next thing I’m getting charged a monthly and yearly fee for something I already cancelled. The manager assured I would be refunded but a month and half go by and they say they can never get ahold of the owners. Finally miraculously they can get ahold of one of the owners and she says she won’t refund me. No explanation whatsoever! Probably because they used the money to purchase $30,000 worth of spray paint! I’m furious because I had been a member for a long time, even a personal trainer there at one point and I thought they would take care of their mistake! These new owners are terrible and they don’t take care of their longtime members. Not to mention half the equipment is broken and you can never find matching dumbbells.

This gym needs some serious tic. More than half of the machines are broken, including cardio equipment. Stairs are out of order half of the time, dumbbells are always loose and you just have to pray they don’t fall apart while you’re using them. Management spent all their money spray painting the gym, but can’t replace worn out equipment!
Gym is ALWAYS dirty. Bars are rusty. Save your money, go somewhere else!!

This place started to go down hill the second the new owner took over a few months ago. On the sanitary side: the one toilet in the men’s room was clogged 70% of the time. There was barely ever any soap in the restrooms. A number of machines where constantly out of order, but these where the ones that they knew about, on many occasions you would find random nuts and bolts on the floor next to machines. Management was never seen inspecting for safety. Some of the staff was rude and even ghetto and acted as if they were doing you a favor by addressing your concerns. Shortly after all the cosmetic remodeling was done, members started getting misterious charges ranging from $35 to $90 dollars. When asking the staff about it, they would direct you to the owner which would never return your calls or messages. If you live in the Temple area, it will behoove you to find a gym that actually cares about their members because this one will just take your money. It will be safer if you just pick up heavy things at home or on the side of the road, at least people look out for you there.

I have not been particularly fond of this gym in the last year that I have been going. Before coming here, when I lived closer to the one in Harker Heights, that one was a little better. From previous reviews, yes this gym is extremely hot inside with no air circulation. Yes you go to a gym to sweat, but when you are like holy hell, dude come on, it's Texas, crank up the a/c at least some.
Most of the staff is pretty lazy, the short buff gal and another female employee actually clean and are nice, the others not so much.
If you are going to workout here, bring your own Allen wrench because it is very likely that 1 in 3 dumbbells you pick up are not secure/tighten. Yet again, lazy employers who are on shift not taking the time to screw in the plates on the various kind of dumbbells.
A good bit of the equipment have outserved it's purpose; however, they did just purchase a functional fitness area which is good. Some of the stuff still needs to go though. More is not always better.
The music can be stupid loud. I'm fully aware you go to the gym to get pumped up while listening to sweet jams, but dude...save your ear drums and stay away from the dumbbell rack and cables right beside a massive movie theatre speaker.
It's a decent gym, but I am currently on the look for a new gym to work out at. Definitely explore your options before being dead set on this one.
For the owner...since I'm sure you read the reviews:
You have built a good gym, but it can be tweaked to make it much better. Turn down the music some, (you look like an ex military guy) put some boot in your employees asses and make them earn their paycheck by cleaning, making sure the functionality of the equipment, laziness is not an excuse. Maybe turn up the A/C. Finally, have your employees go by the racks to secure the weights a few times a day that will only take about 10-20 minutes. Or perhaps, when members sign up, give them the appropriate size Allen wrench(es) to tighten weights as they go for a welcoming packet. I've already seen a couple members bring their own.

Best local gym, especially for the hardcore lifter or fitness enthusiast. A few too many pieces of equipment out of order at a time, but they're actively renovating and have redundancy built in, so nothing is "cut off". Solid value, generally friendly staff. Less clean than it could be, but isn't a big enough issue to detract from my experience or rating it 5* (especially given the condition, pricing and atmosphere at other local spots)

first let me say that both locations have the worst customer service. I contacted temple this morning because I received a billing/collections call and have never been at this gym or signed up for it, thank god ! and the lady apparently did not understand that my name was not faith .... finally I just was over the fact that she continued to over talk me and finally had to say " let me speak to a manager " but of course no manager was able to talk to me.... then she hung up on me . I called back and of course she had the line off the hook because it was going to a voicemail for 30 minutes. I also called the harker heights and asked to speak to manager and of course the manager was not there either... THANK GOD I DON'T GO THERE AND NOONE OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY DO .. I WILL MAKE SURE OF THAT .. THE ABSOLUTE WORST STAFF ANSWERING THE LINE EVER !!!! AND PLEASE DON'T TAKE THAT STAR AS ANY KIND OF INDICATION THAT THEY ARE GREAT ... I HAD TO CHOOSE A STAR JUST TO POST ..

The gym itself was ok. Nothing special. My husband and I signed up for a year last March. We were told after the year is up they keep charging the account until we renew it or cancel the membership, which is totally fine. My husband went in the second week of March and told the guy at the front that he wanted to cancel the membership. The guy said that was fine and said after this month it would be cancel. My husband gave the guy cash for the month. There was no receipt involved. Three months later we get a call from collections saying we didn't pay the cancelation fee and we owe $247. we never got a letter from the gym saying we owed a balance or a phone call. Address and numbers haven't changed. We were complete blind sided. Either the guy at the front is keeping a little money for himself or they are very dishonest. That's not how you conduct business. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I wish I could give this gym zero stars. By far the WORST gym I have ever been to.
1.) Lets start off by saying how unprofessional the staff is. Derek is the most unprofessional and rude owner of a business I have ever met.
2.) This gym is disgusting. FILTHY! The equipment is never cleaned. I have never seen an employee pick up a spray bottle and clean the equipment. That is probably because there is no spray to be found anywhere in the gym. There was one time, however I think it was water with a few drops of bleach and a nasty old towel.
3.) This gym makes smoothies yet they have ZERO hand soap in the bathrooms. How is an establishment able to sell food products yet, there is no way of washing their hands? I asked Derek THREE times just for a bottle of hand soap in the bathrooms and got a nasty reply that its OUR fault because we are showering with it. Hmm. Really? You are going to blame your customers for your lack of hand soap?
4.) The average temperature in this building is 85-90 degrees. Its impossible to get a good cardio workout without any circulating air. The fans that he has do not work. Have you ever tried to run on a treadmill in 90 degree weather without any air movement? Pure hell. That being said, you can imagine how disgusting the equipment is from sweaty body, after sweaty body touching it without being cleaned.
5.) We had to pay a "maintenance" fee in January. When I joined I was told that this fee would be applied to new equipment for the gym. I figured maybe he would get one of the 6 treadmills that are broken fixed, or the majority of the other equipment that is broken. NO, he bought a tanning salon. Wow, thanks Derek. Glad to see you are fixing your equipment with the maintenance fee you lied to me about.
6.) After repeat efforts of trying to get hand soap from Derek my membership that was paid in full, was cancelled. I show up to the gym to workout and was escorted to my car. When I demanded to speak to Derek, he acted like a child and refused to explain to me why my membership was cancelled. Not only is he the worst business owner that I have ever ran into, he is a thief and a coward.
I am a huge supporter of small business owners. That is the main reason why I joined Field House and not another chain gym. HUGE mistake. This gym is not worth the headache and possible staph infection.
