This has been my gym for the past two years and it’s one of the best in the valley. Always so well kept and clean, and the trainers are really friendly. Only inconvenience is that it’s always packed, no matter if you go at 6 am, 1 pm, 10 pm, there’s always so many people there and you have to run for the machines.

As someone who travels between all the TruFit locations as part of my work with Bread Zeppelin, selling protein-packed banana bread to different gyms across the Valley, I can say with absolute confidence that this is the best TruFit there is — hands down. Structurally, communally, and atmospherically, it’s unmatched. The layout is wide, spacious, and beautifully designed; you can feel the energy the moment you walk in. Every corner of this gym is alive — the basketball court always has a game going, the green-turf zone in the center is full of movement, and there’s a constant hum of motivation from people who are serious about their journeys, and exemplary in their efforts. It’s a place that breathes effort, passion, and growth.

But what truly sets this TruFit apart is its community. There’s a rare chemistry here — members and staff alike radiate warmth and drive. There’s a welcoming spirit that makes you feel like you’ve arrived at the right place each time you step in, and behind that great energy is a staff that truly embodies excellence. In no particular order:
• Nicole — the one who actually inspired me to write this. She’s new to the team but already shines with a quiet brilliance. Soft-spoken but full of heart, ambition, and intelligence, Nicole has this natural tender kindness that makes people feel at peace. She’s growing into her voice every day, and I’m excited to see her evolve!
• Bobbi Jo — absolutely electrifying. Her energy is contagious in the best way possible. It flows through the room like a current, lifting everyone it touches, and ricocheting from one person to the next. She has that rare spark that makes you feel her presence even after she’s walked away, and makes you deeply miss her when she’s gone! She’s sharp, radiant, and destined for big things — a true standout.
• Chris — a powerhouse of initiative. His Muay Thai and boxing sessions are some of the most exciting things I’ve seen inside any gym. He’s creating a movement — something that fuses discipline, technique, and inspiration. Watching him train and lead is a privilege, and he’s a true staple in the cultivation of TruFit’s training programs.
• Marisol — She keeps this entire place shining — truly spotless — and does it with grace, positivity, and hard work. She’s there putting in the hours to make sure everything looks perfect, and she does it all with a warm smile. She deserves just as much praise as anyone on the floor, and rightfully so.
• Luis — the glue of this operation. I’ve recognized and celebrated this man for his dedication many times, and I’ll do it again. There is a standard to the service provided at TruFit, and that honor lands in the hands of Luis. His commitment is unshaken, and stands forever tall along with the rest of his team.
• Sherylin — ( sorry if I butchered your name haha ) — She’s fierce. She boldly takes control of the situation with an unapologetic finesse all throughout. I deeply respect her work ethic and stand away from her, so as to not get caught in her line of fire. She currently operates as AGM, however she handles herself like a full-fledged CEO. More power to her and may she continue to find great success.

As for Rudy, Alexis, Abraham, Raul, Mary, Corbyn, Ramiro and David and everyone else I’ve had the pleasure to meet — every single one of them contributes to this environment in their own unique way, and their hard work is never wasted.

You can feel the air of perseverance in here, and the collective drive toward success. It’s a place that reminds you of what consistency and community can do.

So, from me and from Bread Zeppelin, thank you — to the staff, to the members, and to everyone who keeps this TruFit running like a Corvette. It’s vibrant, it’s motivating, and it’s easily one of my favorite places to step into every single week.

Horrible customer service experience at Tru Fit – South 10th St, McAllen TX

I’m leaving this review to share the disappointing experience I had with an employee named Sheryln, who I later found out is the assistant supervisor.

When I arrived with my guest, Sheryln was on her phone at the front desk. I scanned my barcode as usual and had my partner sign in on the tablet, just like he had on the past two weekends with no issue. Without putting her phone down, she abruptly said he needed an ID. I politely mentioned that we were never asked for one before, and she pointed to a sign saying it was “policy.” When I checked, the sign said nothing about an ID requirement. Even after she read it herself and saw that, she continued to insist in a rude and dismissive tone.

Throughout the interaction, she was short, unprofessional, and came across as confrontational. When my partner brought his ID, she interrupted me mid-sentence and said, “I’m not talking to you, I’m talking to him.” Then, when I asked to speak to her manager, she claimed to be the manager and told me, “If you don’t want to be here, you can go to another gym.”

That level of disrespect is completely unacceptable — especially coming from someone in a leadership position. As someone who works in customer service, I know how important it is to treat people with courtesy and professionalism, and this experience was the complete opposite.

I hope Tru Fit takes this seriously and provides proper training or accountability for their staff. Members pay to be treated with respect, not attitude.

This gym seems to be progressively getting dirtier floors around machines are getting disgusting. While working out I have seen bolts from the workout equipment on the floor. The equipment is not being taken care of. They obviously don't care about these things primary focus is on getting memberships and this is clearly visible by how many people are there. I will be looking for a new gym. Do yourself a favor look at different location for trufit or different gym.

SALES- Called to get pricing, the lady that I was dealing with was pushy for me to come in and tour and to sign. Couple days later called again after checking out pricing for other gyms and the guy I delt with Rangel was not pushy at all. I told him I'm from out of town and want a Month to month, he let me know about the promos and sent me a link if I wanted to join. I can appreciate that. Ended up getting a Month to month through the link.
CLEANLINESS- Bathrooms/locker room are in decent shape nothing terrible but not necessarily very clean. The restrooms are hard to find as theres a door in the locker room to them that's not labeled. Can not speak on the showers as I have not used them there.
Equipment and gym, the floors in areas of major use seem to be clean but around the machines and other weight equipment you can tell the employees have not been keeping up with there daily cleaning of machines around them or if they even have those duties. The dark room they have for lifting i do enjoy but you can also tell around the machines on the ground need some cleaning. Machines them self seem to be decently cleaned. The one thing that does bother me though is they do not have enough stations to wipe machines and they are not easily found you have to look around and there may only be 1 bottle and a papper towl dispenser for 1 lrg area or you may find a role of papertowls on the floor for use. I feel like they definitely need to do better on putting more station especially since covid is coming back around.
EQUIPMENT- I will say they do have a lot of equipment which is a plus I will even say they have room for more which would be nice because there are times we're it is busy. Would like to see more leg equipment extension etc. With as many members there are and time of day you will be waiting for machines. Squat racks and lifting platforms are great. Like I said earlier i really like the dark room. It could use a couple more benches as there only 2 but there's definitely space for more and need more plates for the racks. Free weight section has a lrg assortment of weights. So if you like lifting heavy weight your coverd. Whish they had a couple more benches in that area though. It fills up quickly even in non peak hrs. Cable machines are decent but they need to buy new attachments for them as the ropes etc are very worn down. They have plenty of cardio machines as well. I will say the free weights are always disorganized I know it's members putting them back in wrong spot but at the same time employees should at least once a day organize the weight. The other issue is the plates for machines or lifting station are disorganized as well to the point there's just mismatch weights everywhere. Also there's random dumbells and plates on the ground.

IMMEDIATE FIXES-
• More cleaning stations
• clean around machines
• keep weights organized daily and non used put up.

OVERALL-3stars due to my Immediate fixes. I do like how big the gym is. I like the amount of different equipment. I'm happy with the pricing I got. Also are open 24hrs on certain days which is a plus. Alot of work out classes which i do not partake in but thats a plus for alot of people. This gym could definitely work for you depending on the time of day cause it is a busy one.

You CANNOT cancel your membership! I guess you get what you pay for and I should have known that! First, my and I daughter attended the gym and supposedly had a personal trainer. (. The gym changed them on us three times.). Then the personal trainer was too busy flirting with girls to train. Then we moved in February back to Austin and I began the process to cancel my membership, my daughters and my fiancé’s! I and still trying to cancel. The staff at the gym are rude and put me on hold for 5 to 10 minutes at a time, tell me to call their billing office and to email them, which I do. I don’t work for AbC Trufit and I will never ever refer anyone to you! By the way! I am still trying to cancel these memberships! Very unprofessional!

My father recently passed away, and despite us taking his death certificate to TruFit in person, they have refused to cancel his membership. They continue charging his bank account each month, which is now causing overdraft fees. We were needing to keep his bank account open to handle necessary next steps, but TruFit’s refusal to cancel has only made the process more stressful.

When my mother called again today to ask why the account had not been canceled, after already showing the death certificate in person, she was threatened with being hung up on. TruFit also refuses to reimburse the multiple monthly membership fees after his death as well extra fees their negligence has caused.

They claimed they would try to escalate the request to upper management, yet the charges continue. Now they are insisting my mother failed to “confirm the cancellation through his email,” as if presenting a death certificate in person was not enough to cancel a gym membership. During the call, they even stated that with “over 8,000 members and multiple locations,” canceling accounts is "difficult", an unacceptable excuse in this situation.

This has made it incredibly hard to manage his affairs while we are already grieving. It is both unprofessional and deeply disrespectful to continue billing someone after their death, even after proof has been provided in person and management has been contacted multiple times.
