I’m leaving this rating due to an issue with the daycare staff. I’ve been a loyal TruFit member for over 20 years, and I’ve always appreciated the environment. However, during my recent visit, I was disappointed by how a staff member handled a situation with my 9-year-old daughter.

She was quietly sitting on a yoga mat, away from all machines, when the daycare worker approached me to say that my daughter couldn’t be on the workout floor because she might get hurt and would need a membership once she turns 10. I understand safety policies, but the interaction felt unnecessarily strict and dismissive, especially given that my daughter wasn’t using any equipment or causing disruption.

I hope management can review how these policies are communicated to long-time members and ensure that staff approach such situations with more understanding and respect.

Weights are always left everywhere. Not sure why there is NO control over this (maybe management don’t care). Very frustrating. Going to leg machines with five 45lbs on each side is frustrating. Like y’all’s momma don’t work there PUT yo weight up!! Clean up!!!

Least favorite location compared to the others in the area. This one is never cleaned up after, can never get dumbbells because they are all over the place. Gym etiquette is none existent here. AC occasionally broken. The guest internet does not work and the manager here is rude. Don't like coming to this location but have to because it's closest. The others in SA are SIGNIFICANTLY better. Will be cancelling and finding a new gym in the area

At least once a month, the staff are 30 to 40 minutes late opening the gym on Saturdays. It is frustrating for those if us needing to work out before starting our day. It says 7am but it is more like 8am at least once a month.

I absolutely love this gym. They offer a lot of different classes, weight lifting, sauna, massage beds, clean showers and locker rooms. I dont have children but ive heard great things about their daycare. $35 a month for all the amenities, daycare, use of other locations, body scans, and weekends guest passes, you cant go wrong.

Parents beware, this place will knowingly sign up your underage teen on a contract. I have spoken to them several times requesting they cancel the contract as well as refund all money collected. They refuse. I have contacted the district attorney regarding the theft.

I’ve been a member here for years and it’s always been a smooth experience. I usually avoid peak times, so I can get in, do my workout, and head out without issues.

I’ve enjoyed classes like Zumba (Jennifer P.), Pilates and Yoga (Regina B.), Total Body Fitness (James E.), and TruPower (Patrick S.). The instructors are welcoming and I appreciate that each class lets you set your own pace and effort.

This year I tried personal training with Jamaal H.
and it was a highlight. He genuinely cared about my goals, customized workouts to fit my style, and kept me motivated throughout. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking for personal training.

Assistant Manager came up to me and told me to “Shhhhh” while talking to other staff members, and said they don’t need my membership if I continue to cuss. I told the manager that I didn’t work there, and lowered my tone, as the way I was spoke to was rude. I walked away to workout with my friends and left a review.

The manager sent someone to grab me, and said I needed to talk to him. As soon as I got to his desk he told me to “sit down” while pointing at his chair. I told him I respectfully didn’t need to sit down and asked him why he was being so rude. The manager stood up and said he would stand up as well then if I refused his order to sit down.

The manager then said that my membership was not needed and that I could be evicted. I again stated that I’ve been at this gym for 4 years, and the way I was spoken to was rude, and I’m not going to be told to sit down like a child while talking to friends when no kids were around.

The manager said he didn’t need me at the gym, and could ban me instantly. I asked the manager if that’s what he wanted to do and he said yes, so I politely grabbed my things and left.

I’ve been a member for four years. This is a shame, all for speaking to a friend and saying a cuss word with no kids around, not near the children section, and being upset after being told to “Shush”, with a simple reply of I don’t work here, as I’m not an employee and that’s no way to talk to your guests.

Manager told me to humble myself, and to calm down buddy. I was in shock, as this has never happened to me before. He said he didn’t care what I did outside of the gym as that doesn’t matter to him, whatever that means.

A simple please don’t cuss, would have worked. Regardless, I apologized anyways, which he told me to humble myself the first time afterwords.

Being called to the desk, being told to SIT DOWN, and being told your membership doesn’t matter, then being BANNED after asking if that’s what you want to do, is funny.

All for cussing, while talking to the bros, near no children, and refusing to SIT DOWN, while being asked derogatorily.

This is a fantastic gym. I love the Trupower class with Joshua Martin, he is super nice and take interest in you no matter what fitness level you're at. I love the gym, it’s a gym so I don’t require much. However, they need to find someone who can open the gym on time on the weekends. This is an ongoing annoyance that happens about once a month since I’ve been a member. For a couple months it was okay, then here we are again, late on Saturday’s or Sundays or both. I find it to be highly frustrating and I’m one late shift from downgrading and ultimately cancelling if necessary. The little bit of time I get on the weekends I work is wasted.

I came to TruFit live oak today with my kids and I was told I can’t bring my kids due to my “membership is not a real membership and that I am considered a 3rd party because my insurance pays it.” And that I do not have kids club ,I only can go to the classes they offer and can use the gym floor thats it. According to the very rude and arrogant guy that’s says he is the District manager of all TruFit in San Antonio. His name is Paul Gomez. He also said I have must miss understand. Witch I have ask the people who work at the front for 2 weeks if I am allowed to bring my kids and how much would it be for them to work out with me on the floor and if that was okay. Everyone in the front says yes I can bring my 15&11year old and pay $2 each and they can work out with me only on the weekends and as long as I sing a waver and they stay with me the whole time. They told my best friend, my sister and me the same thing. When I brought them to sign up. But when I finally did today. I was told by Mr. Paul Gomez tells me I cant bring them and I am not a real member because I am disabled and have my insurance pays for my membership and I can leave and that he doesn’t care what was told me multiple times by his employees. He is the district manager and I can go ahead and leave and cancel my membership since I am only a 3rd party. I ask to speak to someone over him he laughed and said there is no one over him just the people who sign his check but they won’t care because it’s beneath their pay grade. He was so rude and my kids where so excited to work out and just to be told to leave. He has the worst customer service and didn’t treat us like real people just because I don’t pay out of pocket. My insurance pays for it. When I did sign up I was told I could bring my kids and do the day drop off. Also, apparently you can’t have anybody 18 or younger on the floor, but they’re allowed to have a membership if they’re 10 and older.

This gym has an enormo amount of space and equipment. I joined to use treadmills during extreme heat and cold (the one week we have cold weather) Just two things for the members, CLEAN UP AND WIPE DOWN MACHINES AFTER USING THEM AND RERACK WEIGHTS. TruFit in Universal City has now been my gym for over a year and a half, and I really enjoy it. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. From Travis/or Terrence greeting you at the front desk, to the staff in TruKids, and beyond, i feel like i have been treated well. I have trained with former Trainers, John F., Shannon W., and James H., whose patience and knowledge kept me and my wife motivated through hard workouts. TruKids is very convenient, since my wife and I will come in together. They usually have our girls checked in even before we finish walking through the door, because they get to know the people and their kids, too. The club is always full of people hustling and bustling about, but it is usually fairly clean. The gym's hours of operation offer a huge window of time to work out for those with unconventional schedules, and or families whose schedules are set around their children's schedules. TruFit's pricing is very competitive compared with other places I have looked, and for personal training, there's no need to pay a huge sum up front. We were charged every two weeks, very nominally, and that takes the pressure off our wallets and minds. The gym has a great selection of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment, and on top of that, there are group classes going on at various times that you can easily book into and join. Lastly, I have to say that I love the attitude of the club, my fellow members, and the staff that work there. As a bigger guy, looking to get fit, I normally feel embarrassed or paranoid about trying to exercise in front of people, but everyone at TruFit is there to either fulfill the same journey, or assist you along the way, and nobody is judging you for your level. Everyone is there to succeed, and it makes it easier to get in on the days you don't want to.

I love this gym! I’ve been a member for a couple of months now and I have to say that I haven’t been disappointed yet. I still love it! If we’re being real, people will always find something to complain about, no matter where they are. I’ve had memberships to Planet fitness, LA Fitness, and even Golds. I like to try new things out because everyone has their unique features. All of the past gyms that I’ve been to have had a few flaws that stood out to me, but I have come to the conclusion that nothing will be perfect! If anyone is is debating on getting a membership with these guys, just give it a shot! They offer free week passes so you can determine whether the gym is a good fit for you or not! If you don’t, then don’t go through with it. In my honest opinion, I don’t regret converting from LA Fitness! Gabby and Keion are the best managers !!

Sauna room needs remodeling, and a dim light. women's room was ok, lacked dumbbell equipment and was dusty and is smaller than most gym areas.

The best personal trainers around town, Erica is the best!! She's super motivating , customizes workouts to my needs, and I'm already seeing results. Highly recommend working with Erica cannot stress it enough how awesome she is!

My trainer Erica Leos is amazing. She pushes me to my limits which I like and monitors my progress. She makes sure that I am feeling it where I should and if not then she will figure out a better way for me to feel the burn. If there are any concerns, we address them right away. I see the progress in me and other people she trains. She is very flexible with my schedule and adjust my schedule when I can come work out earlier.

Travis and Aaron at the front desk are always so helpful when I come to the gym. Always make me laugh when I have had a rough day. Great customer service and professionalism. My trainer Erica keeps me motivated and pushes me to keep pushing through even though I feel like I can’t do anymore. Now the Zumba instructor Jennifer Pena is amazing. I absolutely love taking her class. She is always full of energy and even though I am exhausted from my training I must do her class.
