Rating is for atrocious cancellation policy. It COSTS you to CANCEL! Trufit is a gym stereotype "they make it difficult to cancel"

It's the only major gym with multiple sites in town, and the gyms and instructors are so nice! If it weren't for this policy I think I would give the gym 5 stars for the effort of the employees I've seen and cleanliness of the gym.

However, it's so sad to me that this policy is predatory to me which makes me think there's more under the hood/behind the scenes that I'm not aware of that must not be good with the mentality of the company I'm seeing from this policy.

It intentionally is lazy on the corporate side to push more cost on the memebrs (someone had to make a decision to say yes to this policy and no to a simpler, considerate cancellation policy for their members)

And it preys on people's busy lives requiring a side quest to cancel!

For what genuinely good reason can't you cancel in the gym like so many other 21st centruy gyms? You, Trufit, do the paperwork in office and pay to send the written cancellation by certified mail to yourselves! It's a stinking business write-off! Putting it on the members when they already pay for you, not right in my book, here's the cancellation policies for anyone who needs it.

Trufit Corporate: Please seriously consider changing this policy to let members cancel at least in person in the gym if not also online and file the paperwork digitally and print it out at your office if you want paper. There are 21st century solutions to whatever filing system you want, simple problem solving and consideration for members' time and money I believe would go a long way. Thank you 🌺

This gym is a scam. They will say they cancled your membership but continue to charge you. They will act like its your fault for not sending and email (they never mentioned the 1st time you try and cancle). Then they will say you owe $300+ and put it in collections. So either you pay or it negatively impacts your credit. I'm not the only one

Lot of equipment to use, some a little beat down. All the staff have been nice. Only real problem is this place has attracted a lot of people that make a mess (leave plates/dumbbells wherever) and don’t clean up after themselves (unfortunately most the trainers don’t clean up after themselves as well). There’s no accountability for those that do. Also disappointing how long the pool has taken to fix, we were told in February 2025 it should be done in May, it’s November and still nothing.

Gym has roof leaks, equipment is filthy and when you join the gym the company spams you with junk email. Why is my gym membership sending me crap about cruise discounts? Also as of November 2025 the squat racks feature copious mushrooms and spores to breathe in during your workout. I was there at closing time recently and literally the only cleaning i saw them do is going around with FEATHER DUSTERS.

I joined TrueFit at Longmire last week specifically for access to the indoor pool. Before signing up, I called and asked directly if the pool was open and what the hours were. I was told it was open, with only a daily 1–2 PM cleaning break. Based on that, I signed up for the highest-tier membership as I was told it was the ONLY way to use the pool at that gym.

Five days later, I arrived to swim and was met with a sign that the pool was closed indefinitely. There was no email, no notice, and no explanation. When I asked about it, the staff could not tell me when (or if) the pool would reopen. I was told I could cancel my membership, but I had to come back to the Longmire location and cancel in person

To see if there were any alternatives, I called the Villa Maria location, since it actively advertises having an indoor pool. I was told that the pool there is still under construction — and that construction has stalled due to permit issues. Meaning the pool they are advertising is not available at all and has no confirmed completion date.

This is a clear case of advertising amenities that are not actually available, and of not disclosing that a primary facility is closed indefinitely at the location where I joined.

The issue isn’t that pools need maintenance or construction — that happens. The issue is the lack of transparency. Customers should be told when a key amenity is unavailable, especially when that amenity is the reason for choosing the gym and paying for the highest-tier membership.

This experience came across as misleading and disappointing. I have cancelled my membership.

So hard to minimize my love for this gym into a review, and yet, I’ll try! Years ago I would describe my health journey as a game of Double Dutch. In and out - when I was locked in it was easy to keep my groove but the second I lost my balance, I would stop coming for many months at a time. I never made much progress on my own - not with the anxiety I had for being inside a gym or the lack of confidence that I would ever actually be consistent. Eventually after trying and failing many times to commit to the 75 challenge, Jennifer introduced me to Robert. His training sessions changed everything for me and really planted some confidence I never thought I’d have. Eventually he introduced me to Kelli’s True Power classes where I found a sense of community. When she left, I challenged myself to attend Robert’s true power classes (which had a reputation for being harder), I pushed myself to at least show up, constantly focused on the day it would become easy. That led me to Abby, and Jazmine, and Martina who also host true power classes and they kill it every time, regardless of how many people show up. And when they’re not hosting and are just walking around, the simple “where you been?” or whatever greeting is always enough to keep me coming. Gabriel’s combo 6 classes are such a hidden gem and I can’t wait for more people to start attending them! And when I wanted to know just how much progress I was making and what I could do to push myself at home, Roger had me do a body scan and gave great advice. I would quite literally follow this team anywhere they go and I am so happy to have found a safe atmosphere full of so many people that are simply doing their best and constantly show up despite all the things thrown at them. To say they deserve pay increases across the board would do no justice to all the good they bring to this community! Oh and I lost ~35 pounds in ~6 months. 😌

I come here everyday and see trainers working one on one with people even though I don’t have a trainer I love to see they actually want the community to become a better version of them selfs. This place is incredible. I’ve been searching College Station for years in an attempt to find a spacious, affordable, and moderately uncrowded gym. I just recently relocated to Bryan and discovered this Tru-Fit on Villa Maria. The manager, Roger, and personal trainer Abbie are two of the most kind and professional employees I have met in this town. I love it here and plan on coming back as much as humanly possible!

I do not recommend this gym. Gym advertises a pool which it does not have a pool or the pool is closed for awhile with no opening date. The gym is super outdated and workout floor is really small compared to the size of the building. The contracts are a typical scam which you have to fight to cancel. I absolutely do not recommend this gym. Poor quality and poor staff as well as management.
Be warned and go to a gym that will give you a better experience and value for what it offers.

Love this gym and the employees that work here are absolutely, friendly!
There is an older lady by the name of, Amanda Goolsby, that offers classes in the studio who rudely, rushed me to leave leave the studio as her class was not yet starting and only had two people attending with her. I told her I was finishing up, and not at all in the classes way and I’ll be leaving as soon as I finished and she demanded that I needed to leave the studio, immediately.
Another incident occurred yesterday, (6/27) with the same employee. My friend and I, finished an exercise and we were taking progress pictures in the studio with the lights off and the led lights on for the cool effects. As we were leaving, she scolded us and said “ You need not, to turn those LED lights on!!” in a truly, disgusting tone and definitely ruined the great day, and environment that me and my friend just enjoyed after our workout.
She needs to work on her people skills or, maybe she discriminates Hispanics.

Thought I liked this gym, but I’ve been working out of town. Before I left, I submitted my membership cancellation for the second time—because they claimed they had no proof of the first one. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since there was a “new lady” at the desk the first time I filled it out. But come to find out, TruFit kept charging me the whole time and eventually sent the “unpaid bills” to collections.

I’ve heard stories about how hard it is to cancel at TruFit and didn’t believe it—until now. There’s no reason my credit should be affected because of their mistake. Do what everyone else is doing and go to Crunch. Way better gym, and they don’t play games with your money.

It always something when I come to this gym and I tried so hard to put the past bs in the past and give them a chance but I was degraded by the general manager name Jason I believe a couple weeks back I was wearing biker shorts and when I had stand up to get ready to leave they had rolled up and I heard him said “ew” when I talk to another staff about it the girl on the phone said he wouldn’t say something like that he is a very nice guy like really I’m lying now why would I lie about something like that when he was literally right in front of me it was really two slaps in the face but before this happened I came as a guest the guy let me in I just signed in on the iPad and he told me I was good to go today I came to sign in as a guest the girl came up to me and said where’s your guest ? We have been trying to cancel our membership to this location. The manager with pink hair keeps giving us the run around, we call followed orders to sent email. Then they charge us one month out, that’s fine I guess. This was in January of 2025 and to this day they keep taking our money! We called 3 days ago and they took another months pay! I am not familiar with other gyms in the area, but I like the multilocation membership in Trufit accessing 4 locations in Bryan/CS.
I like the late classes at 7 pm. They cater to the working class :)
I also like Sauna in several locations

I don't like the water quality. All water dispensers are on faulty filter status and water taste is not the best!!

I don't like that the reception guys take so long time to assist with class information. But they try to be helpful.

Upon arriving at this facility, just to check it out, we immediately felt unwelcome. The young staff at the kiosk were trying to make the effort, but there was a salesperson at a sales desk that really set the tone of the place. People in the front or in managerial positions should set the example of being welcoming, friendly, warm, inviting, cheerful. Call it “old fashioned”, but it’s effective and necessary to have staff with these skills. Especially in Texas where life is good. Saying something rote and insincere like “Welcome In” doesn’t qualify…it goes deeper than that. We are only visitors to your lovely state, but this was our honest impression of the facility. It’s a fixable problem. Best of luck.

My husband and I started coming to TruFit in October of 2024. We have tried all the local TruFits and Villa Maria location is our favorite. We come here almost daily. I’ve been going to this TruFit for the past 3 years, with there being 3 other TruFits in the area you have a lot of options on where to go. Up until the remodel this one had I would prefer going to the Bryan Towne Center location. Ever since the remodel this gym has been my home location! There has been new management that took over a few months ago and they have been killing it! Roger and his team have done a great job of keeping this gym clean and inviting, the staff is great, they are all welcoming and attentive to members needs. I have a 3 year old and she loves going to the gym with me to hang out with the kids and the “teachers” as she calls them.The daycare staff is friendly and attentive to the kids that are dropped off while their parents workout! I love this gym! They are also still planning on fixing some of the problem areas that come with a older building, not too mention I was told that they were planning on opening back up the pool area sometime in Spring/Summer 2025. I hope that this gym eventually becomes a 24/5 gym like the Texas Avenue location in College Station, it would really put this gym over the top!

Out of all the years I've been to Trufit, I've never felt more disrespected in my life. My first encounter with Natalie, whose last name I do not know, was thoroughly unimpressive, as she approached me in a disrespectful manner, also interrupting my conversation with someone else without saying 'excuse me' or anything, and addressed me in a tone that I found to be completely disrespectful. I have never been spoken to in such a manner, and it did not sit well with me. Later, after my workout, I returned to speak with a manager, and the same woman approached me. I requested to speak with the general manager, and she informed me that he was not available, suggesting that I speak with her, but of course, I didn't want to. However, she continued to address me in a disrespectful manner, which I found to be highly unprofessional and was becoming a scene in front of other guests. The most unprofessional experience I have ever had. I subsequently spoke with the general manager, and although I feel that he understood my perspective, he still seemed to be vouching for Natalie (Manager) even after I had thoroughly explained the disrespect I had encountered. As a result, I will not be returning due to this incident, and I will be sharing my experience with others. I firmly believe that respect should be afforded to all individuals who visit the establishment to work out, particularly if you are a manager, as you are held to a higher standard.

Switched here from Planet Fitness cause I needed an equipment upgrade and while i definitely found that here and really do like working out at this gym, it’s not without issues. I would give this place a 5 star review for every reason except cleanliness! It’s one of the dirties gyms I’ve ever worked out in. The paper towel dispenser is either empty or broken, the sanitizer bottles are rarely filled (same for the bathroom soap dispensers), the restrooms are gross and smell like piss constantly and the weights are all over the place and hardly ever organized. Never had this issue at planet fitness, Golds, or the A&M Rec. Once this place starts caring about its cleanliness then it’ll become a 5 star gym. Till then oh well I guess

Serious gym goers who just moved to the area, looking for a new gym – went in with my wife after finding a free week pass online and calling in to confirm. They ended up not honoring the online advertisement of a free week pass, nor their verbal word two days before saying a free week pass would be given if we came in. They ended up charging us $30 to work out for the day with a day pass.

I’ve been a member at several gyms in several cities over the past decade and find a free day pass important for making the decision. It allows you to make sure they have the equipment you like, the gym is clean, and it’s not overcrowded at the hours we like to work out.

When you go 5-6 days a week, a gym becomes more than a place to work out but a place where you build relationships and become a member of a club. I believe the first step in establishing a relationship and trust with the staff is: 1) honoring their word and online advertisements, and 2) providing a free day pass to get a glimpse of what the membership is like.

When we went in, it was all high-pressure sales trying to make us commit to a full membership without giving us the opportunity to see if we fit in there. Despite the negatives I’ll describe below, Tru-fit is losing two potential members because they broke trust by lying to us, and maintained a high-pressure sales tactic the entire time. It seems commissions are more important than member retainment. The ironic part is I would have signed up if a free pass was given.

The Good:
-good and extensive equipment for a great workout.
-Extensive workout environments for everyone including: pool, racquetball court, basketball, cardio, HIT area, excellent weigh room.
-dumbells were adequate for your average gym rat
-not overcrowded
- Child care provided

The bad:
-the gym was dirty and messy
-weights were not re-racked or encouraged to do so
-most members don’t wipe down equipment after use
-staff did not know what equipment they had or didn’t have when asked questions about it. My wife asked if they had a hip thrust machine – told no but we found out they had one. I asked if they had a pendulum squat machine – told yes, but found they did not have one.
-Did not sign up because of staff

They wrote a FAKE REVIEW using my name and email from my Trufit account. Someone wrote a review on birdeye, which I discovered after I received an email saying the company responded to "my review." It was posted an hour after I left the gym. The fake review said "The girl that signed me on was so nice and friendly." I did NOT talk or interact with any of the staff during my visit. I am mad that the company is using identity theft to trick people! Several reviews were posted at the same time. I wonder how many of the reviews are real...
After I tried to submit a new birdeye review, the fake review was automatically removed. Birdeye did not post my real 1 star review, but I have screenshots of everything and will be contacting the company very soon.

Place is dirty and everything is falling apart. Ceiling leaking, dirty. They also overcharge you. In 3 weeks they charged me $170 for a basic membership. Obviously I cancelled and they continued to charge my card. Just do Planet Fitness

Genevive was the best front desk woman I’ve spoken to at one of these locations in a while. I go to all the tru fit’s, gold’s etc. and she has made this feel like home.

Men's showers go 2 or 3 weeks without cleaning consistently. There is mold. There is hair. There is trash. There is grime. Asking for them to be clean has no effect. People will get ringworm. It's a problem.

One of the worst gyms you can go to in college station. Machines are always broken, and they stay broken. Most of their treadmills don’t work properly so you can’t even walk during peak hours. Lots of equipment is falling apart and machines are missing pins to use the equipment. They have a huge amount of space but barely any equipment to use. They recently made it so you can’t cancel membership inside the gym anymore and you have to call a number to cancel(maybe that’s easier but still annoying)
They also close too early on Friday/saturday/sunday

Decent gym, most of the equipment is in working order, except for the now dried out pool. There is enough equipment to workout without any unreasonable waiting. Staff keeps the gym clean and tidy.

It’s sad that this is one of the only gyms on that side of town which is why I joined but it’s starting to get even worse. They just raised their rates (which are automatically withdrawn from your bank account they will not allow credit card payment) without any notice even though it is directly against the contract signed. Notified the management a month ago with no resolution. They just got new equipment not too long ago but cannot keep it functional. 75% of machines have something wrong with them whether it’s the upholstery being ripped up, missing weight stack pins, or seats being stuck in place. Roof will leak when it rains. Not nearly enough stations for wipes. Locker rooms are borderline unusable and rarely look clean; they even flooded out into the weight floor last week. Staff are rarely engaged, occasionally you’ll see one. They don’t even have functional front doors. If you’re seeing a lot of 5 star reviews it’s because they ran a deal offering free things for a review.

DO NOT GO HERE. HORRIBLE FACILITY. Everything is broken and they flood constantly and still operate?? I’ve walked in and walked right back out so many time due to poor maintenance of this gym. Very disappointed. They also only have good reviews because if you try to buy a drink at the front they say it is free if you give them a good review.. I reported missing and broken equipment various times and months later still no solution.
