When I first walked into WAH, I was so nervous, I had no fighting background and didn’t even know how to throw a punch. From day one, the coaches, staff, and members welcomed me with open arms and helped me learn the art of kickboxing.

It has become the best workout I’ve ever experienced.
I even got to take part in a charity kickboxing event, which was unforgettable! Coach Rudy and Coach Bazan trained me every step of the way, and it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.

If you’re on the fence about trying it, don’t be. I can’t recommend the kickboxing classes at WAH enough. This is not just a gym, it’s a community of friends, a place you can workout AND have a blast.

My son attends WAH and it’s been amazing to watch. Coach Rudy is a fantastic coach who supports my son’s learning while still being a “no nonsense” coach. It’s after school so you can imagine the pent up energy these kids have, yet it’s structured, teaching them discipline, while being fun, allowing them to get the wiggles out. My son has learned a lot so far and we are excited for him to continue learning from Coach Rudy.

Love this place. All the people were great and welcoming. Really learned a lot in a very short time. Prices are very fair, Rudy is great. Joel was very helpful also. Had to stop going due to scheduling conflict but sure wish I could be there every day

I’ve been going to Weapons At Hand since about 2011 so believe me when I tell you there’s no place like it from the coaches to each and every member.

I came to the gym almost a year ago and I can proudly say that I loved every minute if it. I have done each class and learned a lot from each coach. Whether it was from kickboxing to jiu jitsu (gi and no gi) or cardio kickboxing, the coaches were there to help if I didn’t know certain things. Not only that, the members in the gym were (still are) very welcoming to new people and there to help out in anyway possible. I knew when I came to this gym, this was the place to be. I even got my mother, my brother and kids to join and they all seem to have the same great experience as I did. I recommend this gym to everyone who wants train in mma, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu or even to get in shape. Hope this review helped and can’t wait to see new faces there! Let’s go! 💪💪

Been going for over 2 years and can’t say enough great things about that place!
The staff is top notch, you can expect world class instruction from coaches that actually put themselves out there and lead by example.

One of the best places to learn kickboxing, mma, bjj, and more. Great for if you are trying to look into competing or just wanting to get into better shape. I highly recommend giving the place a try.

Everyone seemed to be full of themselves from the gym member to even the coaches. One of the most unhumbling environment I've ever been in, the owner didn't seem to have any regards for his students, almost as if we were the fortunate one to be there, it's the people that make your gym not your gym that makes the people, there is even a video of one of the coaches lashing out at the other coach and his student during competition because his student lost, yea those are the quality of a champion, so embarrassing. Then you have some of the gym members who have been there for a while but aren't really doing anything except getting in the way of other members dreams. You guys just aren't that good at what you do, no one is relevant that is in your gym, get over it and yourselves.

I love everything about Weapons at Hand. I came in with absolutely no experience in martial arts, and started doing the women’s only classes. They are killer for cardio, and they really teach you the basics of martial arts. Every instructor I’ve worked with is professional, caring, and friendly. When I moved up and started doing the partner drills classes, I learned so much from all the fighters and competitors at WAH. Rudy is top notch and really has a way of explaining things to you so that it clicks, and he doesn’t have anyone instructing in his academy that don’t meet his standards. Roger and his jiu jitsu program are also incredible. He’s a well rounded coach who really cares for his students. I have trained at multiple gyms all over Texas since moving from Corpus, and literally nothing compares to the atmosphere, instructors, and quality of Weapons at Hand.

Our gson has been a member of WAH for three+ years and he absolutely loves everything about this academy- coaches, peers, cross- training, etc. The training can be very intense, but intense only makes one better! If ever there is a problem at the gym, and a coach is notified of the problem, one can be certain the problem will be addressed in-house. My gson has been a member at other gyms, but WAH is the first MMA gym that I trust with the safety of my gson. WAH really reflects a family atmosphere. Give it a try- you won't be disappointed!

I attend the Monday night kickboxing class for women. It's $5 everytime, which doesn't seem like a bad price, and the class really pushes you and teaches you how to punch and kick.

I never will understand how, in the heat of the summer, the A/C is shut off during practice. If this is a way to get a sweat going, it's outrageous. My first time there with my son, we were treated with no acknowledgement as if we were uninvited. The instructor saw me waiting to speak to him but neglected to confront me. After watching a wrestling class end, I finally confronted this structure with questions but he was not friendly.

Had got into contact with the gym via email and over Facebook.. seemed friendly at first as I told them my background and my intentions of becoming an MMA fighter. I thought I was on pretty good terms with them and they’ll treat me as family and help me reach my goal! But that wasn’t the case. When I went in there was a jiu jitsu class going on so I sat down and waiting for the class to end and someone to address me, that wasn’t the case because once the class was done the head instructor just looked at me weird and it was pretty uncomfortable in the gym until finally the class I was there for which was wrestling was starting. The jiu jitsu instructor came up to me and asked for my name and I tried to make a friendly conversation and he wasn’t having it and just shrugged me off. Then in wrestling class I’ve never done wrestling.. I’m a jiu jitsu artist and a boxer and I respect that on the day I went they just wrestling the whole time but never once did the wrestling instructor wrestle with me to at least try to help me or anything all what was happening was guys who were far more experienced then me were just attacking me and making fun of how I couldn’t wrestle.. in the end! I learned that the gym isn’t a friendly environment at all and that they should at least try to make guest feel welcome and not just make them feel awkward and should try to get to know the guest and if need help they should at least try to help!

I have two 8yr olds that have been coming here for a months now and I have to say , they both , boy and girl , have become happier kids at school. Now I know this is a strange thing to say but an even more surprising thing to realize. My little boy was having problems with a bully at school he never told anyone about ! As a parent its the most helpless and heart breaking thing to deal with . I didn't bring my kids here for self defense, only to have something to do between football seasons. One day I went to pick up my kids from after school Latchkey and one of the staff informed me that my son was in time out... but not in trouble !?! I asked what happened and they informed that he was choking a bigger boy from behind on the ground ! Then I asked , " then ,what do you mean he's not in trouble ...? " Thats when the staff told me my son has been having problems with this boy for a while now , I was so angry they didn't tell me sooner or why they hadn't seperated them sooner ! After all the excuses ... They told me the bully attacked my son again like always and that my son got up off the ground , took down the bully and did a reverse choke he just learned from Weapons@Hand to make the bully stop ! My son wasn't in trouble because it was all self defense , said the staff. I had mixed emotions about the whole siduation but when I finally walked up to my son he was so happy what he did and finally told me that this bully had been hurting him for awhile now 👿 !!! Days after the incident he told me he had allot of kids wanting to be his friend , even the bully which he said NO too 😏. These instructors have helped my kids in a way I couldn't , and revieled a darkside I didn't know was there . Things happen for a reason... my kids love this sport and have medals to prove it . It's not the medals they win that matter to me , its the better life they will live and the new found confidence that does.

Love this school! I own and operate Austin Kickboxing Academy. When any of my students, fighters or family are looking for a place to train in the Nueces County area, this is where I sent them. Coaches Rudy, Stacie and all the others are the best in Corpus Christi for Kickboxing, MMA, Kids MMA and Fitness. Been coming here on and off for the past 20 years and couldn't recommend a better place for the whole family.
