Going to this gym you have to understand its for a budget. So they treat you like that. Bad bathrooms, never clean gym, and staff can be very rude. So just take it for what it is. This location has a reputation as... "Just don't bother to get much from it" Ive been with vasa sense it was golds gym. And this location has always been at the bottom. The worst is suspicious people loitering the parking lot. People steal and looking into cars all the time. Sometimes you wonder if the business is allowing such a thing to happen so often.

I went in for a PT consult at VASA, but it ended up feeling more like a sales pitch than a real training plan. I’ve lost 80 lbs on my own with discipline and strategy—what I need now is performance training, not fake smiles and upsells. If I ever work with someone, it’ll be because they see the mission, not the profit.

Old review: love vasa and have been going since it was golds gym. I have had my membership since 2002. They are canceling all of the yoga classes at various gyms. They're trying to put in some hot yoga thing and they're taking away the racquetball courts and they're going to charge extra for yoga. I do not want that and will miss my yoga classes and racquetball. Every time I try to talk to staff, they say they have no idea who's making this decision. You who is reading this review, if you are the person making this decision, please reach out. I would love to figure out a way to convince you that this is not going anywhere good.

I just came for a trial High Fitness class on Labor Day and oh my goodness it was amazing! The teacher was a sub, but she was one of the best teachers I’ve ever had!! Such great music and energy! Her name is Becca and she normally teaches in Saratoga, but hopefully she’ll be able to get some classes here in Riverton 😁 Thanks again for such an amazing class, Becca!! 👏❤️

When I signed up I was told that at the 3 month mark i would see an extra charge to cover expenses in case I canceled my account before the 12 month mark, but that due to that charge there would not be any additional charges to cancel. THAT WAS A LIE. I canceled my account through the app a few months ago and I just found out that I am still getting charged the monthly fee. I went onsite to have my account canceled at the gym and was told that neither workers nor managers have the capability to cancel an account. The manager directed me through the app to cancel again, at which point I ran into a loop where I was required to select the checkbox next to the agreement I wanted to cancel and then select a reason for cancellation. I tried many times, but every time i selected the reason then the checkbox would uncheck. I was unable to continue with the cancellation.

I was also told that my contract required that I give a 30 day notice, so I would be charged for one more month if I did cancel. This means that I was lied to when I signed up.

At this point I am working with my credit card issuer to overcome these fraudulent transactions. Save yourself the trouble and avoid VASA. They are sales experts, liars, and crooks. Its a potent combination to steal your money.

EDIT: I just looks at all my VASA transactions and found out that they have been double billing me since my account started! They have stolen $241.21 from me in double charges! I have only ever had one account with them!

If you have also seen this type of action from VASA feel free to reach out to me. I would happily provide an affidavit to anyone needing to prove that this is not a single person having this problem.

EDIT #2: VASA ownership responded to this review and acted like they were going to be helpful. Take it from me, VASA only provides the illusion of help. They said that they strive to be transparent, and for that claim I will call them liars. Their process is obfuscated on purpose. If you want to get a membership canceled then work with your bank/credit union. Throughout this entire ordeal VASA employees were trying to up-sell me and get me to stop the cancellation of my membership. Nothing could be more aggravating!

Kidcare staff are super engaging instead of just leaving the kids to watch shows by themselves. The adults dance and encourage the kids to follow along. My son use to go to south jordan which is a newer nicer gym but the kidcare staff bring their kids and favor their children and my son started saying people were mean.

Also the few gyms left that still has the calisthenics area! Love coming here for upper body day.

After posting my original review, VASA Fitness reached out, apologized for the experience, and agreed to refund both the extra charge and the return fee from the fraud dispute, which I appreciate. The gym facilities themselves are solid—modern equipment, amenities galore, and a good value overall. However, I still recommend that anyone joining take the time to carefully review the terms of service, especially regarding cancellations and potential fees, to avoid confusion. While my initial experience with customer service was frustrating and felt adversarial, I do want to acknowledge their effort to make things right after the fact. If you're proactive and informed, VASA can be a worthwhile option.

OP: "The gym equipment is modern, and the facilities are good for the price. However, the customer service, hidden fees, and attempts to squeeze their member for every last penny is disdainful. I attempted to cancel my membership no less then 3 times both in person, on the phone, and through the app before getting charged again the following month. I then went into the gym to dispute this charge and was told that it was a 30-day notice cancellation charge, which I said was fine. I was then again charged the following month and when I contacted their corporate customer line, they told me they couldn't refund me, that it was now cancelled, and that the charge was again for the 30-day cancellation notice. The person also said that if I filled the fraudulent charge as a fraud charge with my bank, which I have the right to do under the FCBA (Fair credit billing act), that they would take it to collections. This is not only rude, but illegal according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), which says that any company must allow a customer to dispute a charge before sending it to collections. This company should be ashamed for how they treat their members, and anyone who is considering a gym in Utah, should try any number of other options, who provide transparent pricing, and fair and kind interactions with their customers. Absolutely disgraceful."

Took my 4 month old baby to the gym daycare today for the first time. I was already extremely apprehensive about doing so. The daycare seemed very overcrowded and understaffed, just overall very chaotic like they had more than they could handle. I'd brought him in his carseat carrier with a rattle from home - I didn't realize at the time it was against the rules to bring something like that, but they didn't say anything about it when I dropped him off. After my workout I picked him up and noticed the area where they kept him had other little kids that were big enough to be running around, climbing things etc. They brought my son to me just carrying him (it felt like they dumped him on me) and handed me back the carseat carrier separately. They had changed all of the settings on my carseat and it was irritating that my hands were full and they were obviously watching me struggle trying to fix what they messed up, one handed. Would've been nice of them to offer to help (or better yet not mess with the settings in the first place). They also informed me that another kid had been putting my son's rattle in their mouth. Hearing that pretty much sealed the deal for me that I'll be canceling my childcare option with this gym. They had one job to do. If they expect us to follow their rules, I would expect at least a bare minimum effort from them. It would've been so easy to just let my son stay in his carrier and play with his rattle. I also really didn't like what I saw with babies being placed in the same section as kids who are a lot more active. This is a safety issue to me. And btw for anyone considering bringing their baby for the first time- they told me upon arrival they require socks to be worn even for babies. I hadn't brought any because I didn't know so they provided some and let me tell you they were the dirtiest, dingiest pair of socks that looked like they've never been washed. My son started crying a type of cry that I have literally never heard from him before when I picked him up from the daycare and I think it's because he was a little traumatized by everything. There is not a separate room for infants as I was led to believe- all the kids (all ages) are in the same room and the only separation between the age groups is what looked like a 2 foot tall wall make of foam cubes. So if you bring your baby, another kid could easily throw something and have it land and hit your baby. Just fair warning to any parents who are on the fence about bringing their precious little one here - I personally wouldn't. Instead, I'm canceling this add-on and just coming early in the mornings when my spouse is still at home.

After reading other reviews, it’s clear that many people share the same frustration with the lack of maintenance at this location—especially when it comes to the cardio equipment. The other day, only two stair steppers were working. The one I used had three cracked steps, and I couldn’t help but wonder how long it’ll be before someone’s foot goes through and we’re back down to one.
The treadmills aren’t much better—even the ones without maintenance signs are hit or miss. Some don’t incline, some have inaccurate pacing, and one of mine even shut off mid-workout, which is not only frustrating but dangerous.
It’s hard to understand how equipment in this condition isn’t a liability issue. What’s more frustrating is seeing other reviewers raise the same concerns, only to receive a generic response with no follow-through.
I genuinely like this location and don’t want to look elsewhere, but something needs to change. I’ll update this review if things improve. Please do better.

This place is the king of Shady gym memberships designed to try and keep you trapped with hidden fees no matter how many times you ask them to cancel. They never will equipment is always broken. Never working had this problem across multiple gyms, Spanish Fork Riverton several other locations just save yourself and get a membership at EOS.

Easily one of the worst gyms I’ve ever dealt with. The bathrooms are consistently dirty, machines are frequently broken or malfunctioning, and it’s always overcrowded. On top of that, the staff is rude and unhelpful. I’ll definitely be switching to something more reliable — even a basic option like Planet Fitness would be a huge upgrade from this place.

So this location is just not good. To begin with much of the equipment is constantly broken. I've been going to this location for 4 months and in that time 4 of the 6 stair steppers have been broken. At least 10 of the treadmills are broken. 2 of the 3 ab crunch machines are broken. None of these have been fixed in the 4 months I have been going here. The swimming pool is short, the standard pool distance is 25 yards. This pool is closer to 16 making it too short to make it useful. Staff is not friendly or helpful. When I pointed out broken ab equipment I was told "it's supposed to be that way"

They have no respect for your privacy.. was tanning and they just opened the locked door. You can clearly see someone was in the tanning room they claimed to knock in a world of headphones. Then gocked at my body... the staff tried Gaslighting me at first saying we called my name then said the computer showed nobody in the bed...but magically it worked for 9 minutes... and apology isn't enough here.

I have been a member with Vasa for a number of years. Whenever I need help from the front desk they always refer me to corporate to solve or rectify the issue. It is so frustrating at times when I don’t hear back from corporate and I need to call multiple times or email multiple times. I feel like the customer service car is very lacking.

I will go to the Riverton location in the morning to run on the treadmills. The ones that I prefer 3 out of 10 have been broken for a number of months with one in particular for close to 5 months if not longer. There is also one that the speed is off by a large amount so in reality 4 out of 10 are broken. They have another 14 with 5 of those broken as of this morning. That is over 20% of their treadmills broken. I have complained to a number of people and they give me the same excuse of “we are waiting on parts”. I’m good with that but it can’t all be waiting on the parts on 20% of their treadmills. When I go to the South Jordan and West Jordan locations all their treadmills seem to be working. If I could give Zero stars I would. Riverton Vasa you can do better!!

VASA Fitness is an absolute disgrace. Their service is horrible, their gyms are always overcrowded, and the management is completely incompetent. I have been trying to cancel my membership for **three months**, and instead of helping me, they have charged me double monthly fees, late fees, and who knows what else. Between my daughter and me, they have stolen nearly $500—and guess what? The membership is still not canceled.

There is no customer service, no phone number to call, no email that responds—just an endless nightmare. Dealing with this company is pure hell. If anyone is planning to take legal action against them, count me in. Stay far away from VASA Fitness unless you want to get scammed.

On days I lift Vasa is good. My preferred pre-work location isn't the biggest or the newest but I am generally able to get done what I want to get done. One the 3 or 4 days a week I want to spin Vasa is tolerable at best. For some reason they've locked all the spin rooms leaving just a few beat up spin bikes out with the treadmills. If you are doing a warmup spin that's OK, but if you want to do a long session on the bike it is a really sub par experience. In the Riverton location there is exactly one bike in treadmill row that is working, this morning it was in use when I got there at 6:00 meaning I didn't get to get my hour spin in. It was wicked disappointing to look forlornly through the locked door at bikes I SHOULD be able to ride on a day where I didn't get to ride at all. If I were able to spin like I want I would raise my rating to 3 or 4 stars, but because I am still sad I didn't get to use my membership this morning its a 1.

Two stars cause everything is always broken, there has only been two stair climbers working for the last handful of months and there's usually about five broken treadmills at any given time, and the ones that are not broken Are usually malfunctioning in some way. The fans on the treadmill don't work on any of them except for maybe two. A few of them don't incline. Someone came and removed all of the screens off of the broken stair masters Like two months ago and still has not replaced them. It's a miracle to be able to walk in and use a working stairmaster.

Thanks, VASA, for the revolutionary policy—no wiping down machines, no racking weights—just leave it all behind, because apparently, being an influencer exempts you from gym etiquette. Oh, and if you're not feeling too well, don’t worry! No need to worry about germs either; just let the influencers bless your immune system while they take selfies in the mirror.

Honestly, I should probably bring some vodka and coffee next time, find a front-row seat, and watch the ‘motivational’ podcast they’re putting on. After all, why lift weights when you can lift hypocrisy? Sundays they preach the good word, but come Monday, it’s all about gym fame and ridicule. If you want a gym experience like no other, where lifting your ego matters more than lifting actual weights, VASA Gym is the place to be!

Everything is worn down and a 1/2 of the machines are broken and more machine break everyday they never repair the equipment and don’t have anything new and are missing several important machines.

The sauna and steam room are constantly broken down. And the locker room smell nasty.

It’s super small which makes it super crappy for when a couple people decide to workout the same muscle group as you.

Account services are Absolute joke and rude.

The location is great if you live nearby that’s all they really have going for it

Very pleasant staff members at gym. They try to be helpful if you have a question or concern. Please, please don’t do away with your water rollator massage beds. They are so much more comfortable and easy to manage than the ones in South Jordan. SoJo beds feel like you are being punched with rocks! I’ve spoken to a numbet of people who agree with me. Could you please add one more bed since they are so popular. Also, a fan might help the room from getting too hot, especially since the room also has tanning rooms. Thanks!

Yet another stair climber is down for repairs. The other has had a sign on it since mid summer. This is more than an inconvenience. Why not update machines at this point and have more stair climbers? We all know the newer locations have them. Now this location has 3 of 5 that are operational. Also, no hot water for the showers. I guess I'll have to make the trek to Herriman or switch to EOS if this location cannot use our maintenance funds for their intended use.

This is by far the dirtiest Vasa around. I would recommend driving over to Herriman or Draper. The smell of the whole facility reminds you of mold and mildew in a dirty gas station bathroom.

So frustrated! I’ve been coming here for 4-5 years and I go to lots of different locations. They give $5 revive credit each month and it expires at the end of the month. Well awhile ago it didn’t expire and I had $70 in my account and was waiting for a cute sweatshirt to be available. I checked weekly. I kept asking at different locations if my credit showed up on my account and Lehi, Saratoga and Riverton all said it did. And one of the workers said it wouldn’t expire. Well it did expire in July and now they will only honor $20, when I had $70. I received no email or app notification saying it was going to expire. If I would have I would have gotten something else. I would give them negative stars if I could. DO NOT sign up for vasa. They say it’s only $10 a month then they charge random $50 “cleaning fees” or $40 fees with literally no explanation. I tried to cancel my membership and they “couldn’t find my account” which I KNOW is a lie because they’re finding my card info no problem. I even called and asked for them to help me and they said they couldn’t find it. I ended up having to cancel my card and get a whole new one which is a huge hassle. I've been going to the Riverton VASA 4-6 times a week for almost 3 months now. Staff has always been friendly. Definitely notice a big difference in my physical fitness compared to the 10 years of not going to a gym. I plan on continuing to go for the foreseeable future. Edit - 6 months of continued work. It's been great and I still enjoy my time here. Only seen one person recording their workout, so that's been better than I thought it was going to be.

My card had declined when my membership payment was due and Vasa never notified me until 3 payments were due so when I went to cancel my membership there was even a 4th payment. The build up was ridiculous and has ruined this gym for me. So if your card declines make sure you know or it’ll hit you hard later.

I like Riverton gym for the amazing Clubfit classes taught by sweetest beautiful Clubfit instructor friends @janell , @dayana 🤗🤗they’re both super amazing also I like the district manager @bre because she gave me accommodation to use my sensory toy like my plush toy sloth since I was late diagnosed. With autism spectrum level 1 in May .🤗 But I only use my sensory toy for some certain amazing fun Zumba classes because helps me to be comfort . I don’t use my sensory toy for any other fitness classes & i don’t need it & im comfortable with other classes plus I told about my special different abilities . love this gym, however I do think its due for some renovations and upgrades compared to the Herriman location or one of Vasa's competitors new location. most of the equipment seems old and warn down, for example the rope equipment is frayed and gross. staff do seem friendly although I did have an odd interaction with one staff member, there was some equipment left about, and the staff member seemed frustrated when cleaning, assuming I left the mess because I was closest. another thing I noticed, the staff would make an announcement saying they were closing soon, then after they would flicker the lights then would proceed to walk around letting everyone know they were closing soon. I understand staff may want to get home after a long day. however 3 announcements just seems a bit much. after that experience I started going earlier so I'm unaware if staff continues these announcements. aside from that my overall experience has been positive at this gym. The gym is large and there is plenty of equipment to work with. The environment is what you would expect, just a bunch of people with the same personal fitness goals. the music isn't boring, and most guest use the cleaning supplies provided. Prices are good, although there were some fees I wasn't aware of. I've made a lot of progress and memories at this gym according to the app I have over 87 check-ins. I would recommend this gym if you live close to this location and want enough equipment to meet most needs.

Beware of their "Return Fee". If you have a card declined, they will charge you a $25 fee. This is reminiscent of the bounced check days, but that's completely inappropriate for a credit card transaction. They will remove the fee if you "prove" that the card was replaced because of fraud, but that is an unnecessary waste of time, I'm already spending too much time cleaning up from the fraud event. Please also beware of the $25 cancelation fee if your membership is less than 6 months old. It's unfortunate that they have policies that are akin to a nasty used car dealership, when the relationship could be refreshing and positive instead.

This location does a poor job of maintaining the equipment and facilities. The most common site is the broken equipment sign. Some equipment stays broken for weeks/months, even if it’s only one of two high use equipment (chest/deltoid fly). There are always many things broken, including the motion activated front door! It’s a bad sign when the front door doesn’t even work (it’s been weeks!).

They also don’t invest in expanding the equipment that is in highest demand. For example, I am rarely able to get the dumbbells I need. Many have requested more be added but it never happens. At the same time there are other areas that go relatively unused, eg basketball and racquet ball. So if you’re into that, it’s a great place.

This location has very high traffic in the mornings when I go (can’t speak for any other times). It’s so busy that it’s hard to get your workout done. If there is another gym closer to your location, use that one instead. As soon as I have another option I will be switching unless things change.

My recommendations to management: Keep up with equipment and facility maintenance, listen to your members, reconsider areas that are not being used much and repurpose them into higher demand uses like a much larger dumbbell area.

1/7/2024 Update
The broken equipment sign I posted is still there and there are many more since then. They did fix the one chest/deltoid fly machine—way to go. The door still won’t open. Several TVs have been broken for weeks now. Still no meaningful changes despite the company response to my message.

3/28/2024 update
Lately they have been doing a pretty good job fixing the equipment in a timely fashion. Since I left my last review I’ve noticed a Vasa employee walking around looking at the equipment more regularly. He’s not inspecting it but probably just looking for obvious issues.

The front door still won’t open consistently. Some days it opens, some not. Seems to happen most often early in the morning.

The place is still over crowded which means sometimes I have to forgo a workout because the equipment is constantly being used and I don’t always have time to hover until the person is done.

A small, but easily remedied issue is the weight tags on some of the equipment are gone. Makes it hard to know exactly what weigh you’re using when multiples are missing in a row and it crosses over the point where the size of the plate changes.

I’m not changing my overall rating because this place is just average for a gym plus there are many signs of age, sloppy workmanship on repairs, there is always a broken TV and they seem unwilling to try and expand the dumbbell area which is always busy which always adds wait time for the dumbbells I want.

The staff members are great and there is a good selection of equipment. The hours of operation are also great. I took off stars for two reasons. First, some of the equipment needs better maintenance. I’m specifically referring to the adjustable flat/incline benches in the dumbbell area. They are in high demand (more are needed, in all honesty—I’ve have to wait long time to use them each time I go), but I was shocked by how wobbly they are. This is very dangerous when you are trying to do heavy dumbbell bench presses, since an unpredictable wobble at the wrong time could cause an injury. The bolts that secure the benches to the frames need to be tightened on a regular basis. Shoot, just tape an Allen wrench of the correct size to the bottom of the bench and I’ll do it myself. Second, the restroom in the men’s locker room has some cleanliness issues. There’s a strong odor and I find myself maneuvering to find a spot to place my feet each time I use the urinals just to avoid stepping in a puddle of… well, you get the idea. Again, I have no complaints about the staff, the clientele, or the selection of the equipment. The loose bolts on the dumbbell benches and the condition of the restrooms are the issues that incline me not to give a five-star review.

This gym has a serious problem with its memberships. It’s quick and easy to sign up but they make it impossible to cancel. The employees do not have access to cancel your membership, which I found out after they told me I was cancelled and then a month later I was billed again. Now they want me to pay ANOTHER month to cancel my membership after they lied to my face. Their support team has ignored my emails on more than one occasion when I bring this up. Do not be fooled by the advertising they have where they say that the subscription is free. When you sign up they make you sign a contract with 10 thousand clauses that is impossible to read in 10 minutes, among those clauses they stipulate a charge of 58$ the second month for fees... (which in reality is the subscription fee and other things) then they tell you that if you cancel your membership before 6 months you must pay 25$. I tried to cancel my membership after the 6th month there and was told to call or email customer service (lousy service by the way).
I don't understand how if they have so many customers the conditions of the gym are so bad, there are several lockers damaged for months, they don't care about keeping the bathrooms clean during peak hours, when a machine is damaged they take a long time to fix it, they have a lot of old equipment.

Vasa I swear is a scam company. Me and my wife signed up for a family plan with kids care. Any normal person would think that means either of us could schedule kids care which you can but only the primary account hold can actually use the plan you pay for monthly on a family membership. I would rate this VASA at a 2 star. But lately the service is so poor. The employees **do not** care about your questions or concerns. All they care about is constantly reminding guests that they close in 10 minutes by flashing the lights, announcing over the PA, and coming to each group saying they are about to close. I get it, I work in a entertainment park and sometimes want to just leave and go home, but I’m not ruining the guest experience by constantly reminding guests that we are about to close.
