This gym is over priced and poorly run. If you go to the Vergennes location you might as well just buy weights and workout at home. It’s dirty and the scanner doesn’t work so you’re consistently locked out. They will also charge you AFTER you cancel your membership and refuse to give you a refund. The gym is dirty and the equipment is in disrepair. There are better options out there.

Just started here seems very good so far, will update as needed, I am updating this review due to latest developments, after being a member for a few years now, I no longer feel welcome, especially in the pool, as I am not a swimmer and was considered a “ walker” . This type of pool usage is not welcomed by other users, specifically swimmers and quite frankly when I brought this situation to management’s attention, specifically the owner, he did very little to correct it and try and make me feel welcome. When I tried to cancel my membership, I was told to do it in writing, preferably an email and that if this was performed after the 15th of the month my credit card would be billed the 1st of the next month to pay for the month ahead, I was hopeful after voicing my concerns only a few days late, I would not be billed for a month of membership I would not feel comfortable using. I was billed, so I tried to use the pool again, only to see the same issues still existing. I will state the employees are all very nice and were the only reason I hadn’t stopped utilizing their facility earlier. The owner did not read my email of concerns and that I was canceling my membership, an employee told him I was not happy and he called me, coincidentally when he called , I had a passenger in the car that unknown to me, had been treated poorly as well in a situation outside of the gym. I wish this had a better outcome

The equipment at both locations is excellent. The manager made fun of me and laughed several times. The trainer/staff that works at the Vergennes location is very brass and rude. I have listened to comments that she is not nice to members. She insults the Vergennes Vermont Sun, saying it makes no money and the Middlebury facility pays for the Vergennes site. The owners and management are very clicky and do not listen to members. It all falls on deaf ears unless they are laughing/ making fun of you. Not a professional staff at all. Please consider Middlebury fitness or Bristol gym. They have a positive atmosphere.

Very crowded. Not equatable with its membership offerings. If you’re not a student, you get the short end of the stick! Crowded gyms, young people sitting machines or filming inappropriate videos. Invest in a home exercise option or find another gym before being disappointed with this gym. If only they had a Planet fitness or public park gym……it might be better than this over crowded under serviced facility.

It’s insufferable. Between giving a $29.99 membership to every teenager in Vergennes and the rest of us who pay full membership. The place is easily over capacity. Don’t bother with this place unless you have no choice, like me. I hear Bristol has a nice gym. Check it out… might be better than this hellscape.

This place is where I spend the majority of my time when I'm off work. It's got this 'hot' tub that is great for warming up in on a cold day before jumping into the cooler lap pool. The weight room has plenty variety of weights and aerobic exercise machines. There are plenty of classes to join as well.

I ended up buying a membership because there aren't punch cards and the pool prices for a family were too steep otherwise. I was disappointed that there weren't deals on the enrollment fee at the beginning of the year and almost didn't enroll due to my hard-headedness. I was also disappointed that my 12 year old was almost the same cost as an adult per month.

It has been good all in all though. There is a sauna and the showers are usually clean but not always. The pool provides natural based lotions found at our local health food store (Middlebury Natural Food Co-Op), hair dryers, soap dispensers in the shower, and aromatic sauna sprays for the sauna.

The people at the front desk are always kind. Just be prepared to leave right at closing because the staff don't seem to get paid past closing time. There is a frantic push that starts at about 5 min before the hour so if you have easy anxiety...beware!

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff and owners. I don't even bring my earbuds because they play good workout music. Clean, safe, laid back. They've shepherded me through every goal. Great equipment, sauna, tanning room, pool.
My only tiny complaint is that there are so many young people using the equipment incorrectly, that i wish there was some sort of supervisor to guide them as well, but that's not a Vermont Sun thing, just a universal "wish you knew what you were doing" thing. A very good joint.

Had a membership for a year with this facility. When they shut down due to covid, they didn’t make you pay your monthly bill which was great. However, staff are just unkind almost constantly. The pool is never truly CLEAN. (This bothered me due to the fact I was paying another $15 a month on top of my $69 just for my two yr old to use the pool). Friends warned me before joining the gym, but like everything, I gave it the benefit of the doubt.
