I came in to ask questions about a membership and nobody even tried to help me. Then when I walked out, they locked the door behind me. They are unprofessional and rude.

Very unprofessional, I came to ask questions nobody acknowledge or came me and my friends stood there for 10 minutes and then when we left they locked the door without even helping us.

I've just completed the on ramp program, and coach Gene and the team were extremely warm and welcoming. They created a fun and engaging environment to learn the foundations of muay thai, I especially enjoyed when they gave us pointers on different fighting styles for different body types, it was very insightful knowledge. I really love the environment and the team, so much so that I've decided to get the unlimited membership! Can't wait to continue my journey.

Excited to be able to train at this gym! 10 Kicks has a great reputation, great coaches, and great members. Whether you're just looking for a good exercise or to be a competitive fighter, this is the gym for you. The coaches make everyone feel welcome and will help you meet your personal goals! While martial arts is usually viewed as an individual sport, here everyone is part of the team!

10 Kicks offers the Detailed instruction, structured drilling, and controlled yet friendly sparring in a beautiful new facility that makes for a fantastic Muay Thai environment to learn and train. Their On Ramp program is brilliantly executed and the experienced members come to help and support the new people. I can’t say enough good things about Gene the owner, the instructors, and the 10Kicks members. If I lived in the Richmond area, I’d proudly wear the 10Kicks logo.

I've wanted to take Muay Thai for a long time and finally started with the On Ramp program at 10 Kicks in July. Everyone was so welcoming and kind; I really couldn't ask for anything more. Coaches are clearly very skilled and passionate and work with everyone equally, whether they're preparing for an MMA fight or trying to get in better shape. There are no egos, just nice people who want to elevate each other, hone their craft, and work hard. Coach Gene said he was trying to create the gym he wish had been there when he started. I'm very new but it seems like he's done a great job. I knew nothing when I started and now I think about kicks all day long.

Coach Gene, Coach Emily and the entire team has been nothing short of exceptional. I was super hesitant on starting a hand to hand combat art but the coaches are very understanding and knowledgable. Whether you’re a junior student or an experienced Muy Thai practitioner, this gym has a niche for everyone. The foundation of this gym is respect and their straight forward attitude gets you going sooner rather than later. So stop reading this long review and hit the mats! Raise those hips, do those kicks!

Loved the on ramp program so much I signed up for 12 more months! Everyone at the gym is super positive and kind, great people to learn with! All the coaches are stellar and they make room for questions without it feeling awkward. They’re ready to help you one on one too. One more thing I love is how many women go here !! I was nervous about it at first, but there’s a good female presence which makes things a lot more comfortable for us girls. Can’t wait to keep punching and kicking !

I joined the gym a month ago, and my entire experience has been 100% amazing. As someone totally new to Muay Thai, I was a bit intimidated. However, the members of this gym are very welcoming and social.
Furthermore, all of the coaches here are incredibly skilled and approachable. As a newbie I often have a lot of questions, and they always provide the help or explanations I need. Overall, I would highly recommend this gym if you want to start training Muay Thai.

10 Kicks is an incredibly cool, welcoming, and well run gym. I’ve been doing martial arts for a long time, and I’ve been through a lot first hand and learned some about what factors make for a good gym. 10 Kicks has all of those things.

There’s an on ramp program for complete beginners, so at no point do you feel thrown with the sharks. Everyone is very accepting of newcomers, and will work with you where you’re at to get you to the next level. At the same time, you’ll be pushed appropriately, so you’ll always be improving, but never pushed so hard that you can’t keep up.

The gym system itself, things like sign up, payment processing, checking in to class, gym announcements etc. is entirely seamless. Sometimes to the point you’ll forget there’s a system at all. It may seem like that kind of stuff is not a big deal, but it becomes very noticeable very quickly when it’s not set up well at other gyms. To have it run so smoothly is an underrated benefit.

Most importantly, it’s a very safe training environment. No one will try to take your head off, and in fact no one will ever make you spar or push you into being uncomfortable. There’s also a sense that huge egos, jerks, or people with malicious intent aren’t tolerated, so any issues you possibly could have (though I haven’t had any so far) would be handled appropriately.

I highly recommend 10 Kicks, whether you’ve never thrown a punch in your life or if you are a seasoned martial artist already.

I’ve been wanting to try Muay Thai for quite some time, and finally decided to give it a shot. I tried a different gym in the area and felt quite judged for being new for be sport. I gave it another shot with the on ramp program at 10 kicks, and was blown away by how wonderful the team has been. EVERYONE has been so nice to me and has gone out of their way to not only teach me the fundamentals, but also feel welcome at the gym. I highly, highly recommend this gym to anybody who is on the fence!

Did the On-ramping program and it was one of, if not, my favorite programs I’ve done for fitness/sport. They gave the best foundation to take home, to the gym, etc to practice, but also were very attentive to and supportive of newcomers. Was nervous going in and quickly after the first few minutes, felt comfortable and confident. I took some time away from it after the on-ramping but am signing up for a membership in a few weeks.

10 kicks is absolutely a phenomenal place to train Muay Thai. The 4 week intro course (On ramp program) was super helpful in learning the fundamentals and there were experienced students already in the gym that were in the classes that helped out the newer students with the drills. The instructors/coaches have experience and know what they are talking about. The students and coaches are always open to giving feedback and help. It's a great and positive environment to be in. I'm already 3.5 months in and the growth has been incredible. Whether you are experienced or newer, 10 kicks is by far an outstanding gym for anyone looking to train Muay Thai, get in shape, and for self defense. I'm looking forward to continue training Muay Thai here.

Amazing Muay Thai Experience at 10 Kicks!

I've been training at 10 Kicks as part of the on-ramp program , and I can't say enough good things about this gym and the incredible coach, Gene. The environment is welcoming, and whether you're a beginner or more advanced, there's something here for everyone. Coach Gene is highly skilled, patient, and truly dedicated to helping each student improve both physically and mentally. He has a great way of breaking down techniques, making it easy to understand, and always pushes you to be your best.

The gym is also clean, well-equipped, and the community here is supportive and motivating. I’m proud to be part of the 10 Kicks family and would recommend it to anyone looking to learn Muay Thai or level up their skills. Thanks, Coach Gene, for all the guidance and inspiration!

I've been training at this Muay Thai gym for a year now, and it's been an incredible journey. The instructors are highly skilled and have fantastic personalities that create a welcoming environment. The gym has a strong culture that emphasizes respect and camaraderie, with very little ego. One of the standout aspects is their focus on clinching, where you'll really develop your skills better than any other Muay Thai gym in the region. For casual trainers, the high skill level of some of the other trainers can be overwhelming at times, but remember that comparison is the thief of joy. By focusing on your own progress, you'll find this to be one of the most rewarding experiences ever.

10 Kicks Muay Thai is the real deal. You will not find another gym in the greater Richmond area with better coaches and members. Everyone here always comes in with a great attitude. You will not find a single ego at 10 Kicks. All of the coaches are knowledgeable, skilled and possess decades of experience between them. You get more than what you pay for here. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, you will feel challenged without feeling overwhelmed. The welcoming atmosphere at 10 Kicks Muay Thai will help you overcome that initial fear of trying something new while being the new guy or girl. There are members here who drive an hour just to come to class because this place is the best. Everyone here will only encourage you to become a better version of yourself. Regardless of your gender, age, fitness level, or goal, you will feel welcomed and at home at 10 Kicks Muay Thai.

Update May 2024: I have been going to this gym now since November of 2022 and it has only gotten better. There are more classes on the schedule yet prices have remained the same. I am closer to many of the members here than I am to some of the people I’ve served in the military with. The more I talk to people from other gyms, the more I am thankful to be a member at 10 Kicks. I cannot stress enough how hard it is to find a good gym. I am realizing this more and more as I get closer to changing duty stations. There are so many factors that come into play such as gym culture, credibility, pricing, and scheduling. 10 Kicks does authentic Muay Thai better than any gym in the area. Other “Muay Thai” gyms don’t clinch, spar, or they leave out some other key aspect of Muay Thai. The only downside to this gym is that it has set such a high standard that I know no other gym where I'll be stationed next will match the excellence of 10 Kicks Muay Thai.

I can confirm everything the reviews say about this place! I joined the on-ramp fundamentals sessions and the environment is great! Everyone of all experience levels are willing to help and provide tips . Questions are encouraged and additional videos are offered following each of the fundamentals classes as well.

The coaches also accommodate their instruction for south paw (left side dominant) stances and make great effort in using phrasing like 'lead' or 'rear' rather than 'left' or 'right.' Each session, each drill, each technique, and each workout we did felt purposeful and offered something to learn.

This gym is deserving of every star its received. The reviews are no exaggeration! It has a strong team environment and solid instruction and workouts accompanied by great coaches and members. Everything I experienced during my on-ramp sessions inspired me to continue training with them and I'm excited to get stronger alongside other members!

I have waited around 6 months to give my review. I started back in February of this year as my midlife crisis after turning 40. I haven't done any martial arts since college. I'm definitely not in the best shape of my life, but that hasn't mattered. The gym has been great. The coaches and training partners push you to do all that you can, at the level you are at. Then they push you just enough past your level that you can see the growth in your skills and fitness. The coaches aren't set in their ways either. They host seminars to help us become better practitioners. They attend to learn new skills. They then pass on and incorporate what they learned into drills we do in class. I can't encourage people enough to join and give it a try. Hopefully I'll see some who read this in the next On-Ramp program (Muay Try, I agree that would be a more fun name for On-Ramp :)).

10 Kicks rules. No tough guy attitudes here, just an atmosphere of positivity, inclusivity, and encouragement to everyone of all skill levels. I would highly recommend the on-ramp program to anyone! The instructors are amazing and the added bonus is that the experienced students are there to help and train with you as well. It’s awesome. Sign up now!!!

After not being physically involved in combat sports for over 10 years and looking for a healthier lifestyle, I was welcomed with open arms by the whole squad at 10 kicks and they put me on the track to self improvement. No matter your level of experience, if you want to feel better not only physically but mentally, there’s nothing but good things to come from joining the 6- week on ramp program. I just joined full time and I 10/10 recommend.

I loved my intro course at 10 kicks! All of the instructors were so down to earth and always there to help and support me throughout the six weeks. I learned basics that now I can use in my day to day training and time at the gym.

My experience was so great that I decided to sign up for a membership. I’ve never been a part of a gym like this or never even was into group exercise but this course changed my perspective. Happy to have found this gym!

I’ve been training here since completing the “on ramp” program in June ‘22. It’s hard to leave a review that covers all the bases. It doesn’t matter who you are, you are welcomed, and taught very well. If you listen and try… you will succeed. All the coaches have practical ring experience, some training in Thailand, years of consistency, and a genuine will to help everyone be better. No egos, no favoritism. You don’t have to fight or spar, but you can!
Also, I came in feeling tons of anxiety and not so healthy. 8 ish months later I feel mentally calmer and physically stronger. Give it a go if you want to sweat out your stress with some of the greatest humans In Richmond!

Head Coach Gene was gracious enough to let me train for a few weeks when I was visiting Richmond in December. Solid classes, kind coaches, kind teammates, be prepared to clinch, and getting your conditioning up!

Sparring is quite technical and the partners are humble. The coaches emphasize on effectively improving fight IQ, polishing fundamentals and solid drills.

10/10 one of my most favorite camps I’ve trained at, would drop in any time I’m in area again!

10 Kicks Muay Thai is byfar the best gym I have trained in. I was visiting from Colorado and was welcomed into their gym. The community they have built is open, kind, and welcoming to everyone. I wish I still lived in RVA to teain here regularly.

I couldn’t recommend coming here enough. Coaches Emily, Natasha, and Gene absolutely crushed the on ramp program with insightful, compassionate, and respectful lessons that get you up to speed quickly. Once you sign up, there are more than enough classes for you to come in and train, with a group of practitioners who are as skilled as they are kind. The art of 8 limbs has never been easier to train or more achievable than it is at 10 kicks. You are absolutely messing up if you don’t sign up for an on ramp class RIGHT NOW.

I had a really great time attending the on-ramp program. It was a really welcoming and friendly environment. Did not have any issues even though I was out of shape. I also can confirm that even though they train hard and actually go to fights you won't be stuck with the toxic masculinity that these activities sometimes attract.

Great environment, great coaches, and great workouts. I loved everything about 10 Kicks and the coaches understood that you were new to Muay Thai so they took their time with you and always gave great tips. After a while Gene is going to need a bigger gym lol, I can see way more people joining pretty soon. I will be signing up for the 6 month term.

I had come down to visit 10 Kicks MT on a trip to see family and they were more than kind and hospitable to us for the drop in. There's a clear sense that the team there loves and cares for the sport and each other. During the advanced class, the drills were fun and worked on skills more related to fighting iq. Which is definitely a breath of fresh air compared to just executing combos on pads, something that a lot of striking gyms will default to. The coaches take a lot of effort to build a culture of safe sparring practices--, with lesson plans to ramp students up and thoughtful drills to ensure that technical sparring stays technical. (Additionally emphasizing that students don't have to spar if that's not their cup of tea). It was a lovely visit, and I'm excited to see how their team grows in the coming years!

A testament to “all skill levels are welcome.” I started the 10 Kicks Muay Thai On Ramp program at 41 years old and with no prior experience. The coaches and other students were welcoming and knowledgeable. The classes and instruction are top notch and have taught me a lot about myself. Not just physically but also mentally. I don’t have any insights into other gyms in the area but if you’re looking for students and coaches passionate about Muay Thai, this is the place. The atmosphere breeds a culture of support, diversity and commitment and I’ve never once seen an ego in this gym. Only teammates helping each other get better, in whatever capacity that may be. If you’re looking for a gym to get in shape, build confidence, learn self defense or have a desire to compete in Muay Thai then I would highly recommend 10 Kicks Muay Thai.

I cannot recommend this place enough for anyone interested in Martial Arts, combat sports, or simply getting fit. 10 Kicks’ team of coaches have a collective multiple decades’ worth of experience, and provide a wealth of authentic Muay Thai training & knowledge to help you grow not just in ability but also fitness level, as well as a true curriculum that’s tried and tested in the ring (for those who might want yo give it a shot!)
Over the last year I’ve been able to experience their program first hand, and both the technical instruction and fitness benefits are second to none.

Muay Thai provides so much good to the people who train, and it’s great to have a such a committed and knowledgeable team of coaches right here in Richmond.

I have been training with 10 Kicks Muay Thai for over a year now and specifically training with Coach Gene for over 4 years. During that time, I have grown as a fighter, an athlete, but more importantly as a person. As a female training in Muay Thai it can sometimes be difficult to train with mostly men. At 10 Kicks Muay Thai, I have always been respected, and treated as an equal with my male teammates. It’s a safe and supportive place for all people to train, but especially for women. Not only do I get in quality training, but I also get to work with two other female coaches. I am so grateful for my experience here and highly recommend to anyone who is just starting Muay Thai or has years of experience! 10 Kicks!
