I initially gave a great review but it was for the teachers there. Things have shifted since. The secretary/admin of Amyclae Vicky is extremely unprofessional. Very narcissistic and condescending. I inquired about the monthly payments for competition after telling her we are on a strict budget. Later I see a $1, 400 charge in my child's account and I emailed her to asked her why was I charged after raising awareness that not knowing a specific amount for competition made me uncomfortable. Mind you, I NEVER said I wasn't going to pay it. I simply wanted an explanation and maybe the charges could be voided. She writes a long textbook about how I asked Ms. Tina to hold my daughter spot while we were on vacation (which is false) I never talked to anyone about that. I was professional and never rude. Long story short in the email she states " I don't know who you want to pay for your child's choreography after you changed your mind." Again, I never changed my mind because I never asked y'all to hold my daughter's spot while we were on vacation. That's statement was very unprofessional. She called my daughter a quitter, and then when I called her out on her unprofessionalism she played the victim card stated that she tried to defuse the situation by offering me a scholarship. When in fact she insulted me and my child and then tried to clean it up by giving me some bogus discount. I now have to pay over $2000 for something my daughter never attended or benefited from. Yes, during auditions a signed a contract and that's where I went wrong. I thought it was a permission slip but it was a binding contract. So please, do not be like me, read what you're signing. As a paying customer I should have been treated better. Never been late on payments and never asked for hand me down. Vicky is insanely unprofessional, she is going to ruin Amyclae's reputation with her poor professionalism!

Our daughter has been attending Amyclae for three years and loves it! She mainly focuses on Jazz and Musical Theater but has also taken some Ballet. The teachers are superb and office is helpful. They provide an environment where everyone is so welcoming. The many options for classes they provide at Amyclae far exceed any other studio that we had looked into. It’s become our second home.

Please read r. dow's review from 6 years ago, it is textbook for what happened to my child two years ago. It is a toxic environment that you do not want your child in.

We have been with Amyclae for the last 4 years and love it. We came from another studio that closed down. They took us in with open arms. They are a family studio, its our home away from home. My daughter and I both take classes. The adult classes are a lot of fun.

I danced at Amyclae for almost 6 full years before leaving. If studio owner and artistic director did not like a parent, she ‘bullied’ that child. When I had left, I still had many friends who had danced there who had told me about her talking poorly about me after I left. While I was still a member, she would gossip with dancers and parents about current and former teachers and families. All together, my experience here was pretty awful and emotionally exhausting. Please avoid Amyclae.

Amyclae Dance Academy is outstanding! The teachers are amazing; they really are so good to their students. The dedication that everyone has is truly inspiring! I wouldn’t recommend any other studio. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do as a studio!

The professionalism at this studio far outweighs other dance studios that I’ve been involved with. The teaching is superior; several of the staff are or have been professional dancers. The staff are friendly and helpful, as well.

Loving the dance studio! The parent waiting area is tiny and I am used to a studio with tv monitors or double sided mirrors so I can see my sweetie dance. This studio has neither. Other than not being able to enjoy seeing my kiddo dance and having to stand in the waiting room its an A+ studio.

My daughter attended Amyclae for four years when we lived in Stafford and was a part of the competition team. She loved the dance studio and all of her teachers. Ms Tina, the owner, takes a personal interest in all her dancers and treats them as if they were each her own children. We are hoping we will be stationed back in Quantico soon so that she can return to Amyclae!

Amyclae Dance Academy welcomes everyone with open arms. The teachers are dedicated, compassionate, and supportive, and the office staff is very friendly. The studio offers a variety of classes, and students are giving incredible opportunities to expand their knowledge and passion of dance. The environment is positive and fun. Amyclae is one gigantic family and all of the dancers are supportive of one another.

I've been at Amyclae for about 5 years now and Its everything I could hope for and more in a dance studio. It really is such a positive and enjoyable environment and I've learned so much. The teachers are incredible and they are so supportive. ADA has been a second family to me and I love it so much there. Throughout my experience at Amyclae, I've found a huge passion for dance and for anything else that I aspire to do.

We initially decided to try dance classes to promote the development of muscle tone for my daughter who was experiencing foot and other joint pain related to hypermobility. Her posture improved, her muscle tone increased and best of all, her confidence was boosted as a result of her improved health and the care and attention she received from the ADA teachers. We’ve been taking classes at ADA for 5 years now. I have four children taking classes at the studio. They’ve received excellent instruction, and they’ve been taught the the importance of commitment, team work and time management as they’ve learned to juggle the responsibilities of school with the various demands of regular dance classes and dance team. I love the amazing families we’ve connected with at ADA, but I am especially thankful for the unique and varying talents and personalities of the teachers we’ve had at the studio and the positive influence they’ve had on my children.

My daughter has danced at Amyclae Dance Academy for 6 years and is beginning her 7th now! She has enjoyed every year more and more as she grows in her ability and her confidence. There are ballet performances in the winter and a full studio recital in the spring. There is also a Competition Team where students who wish to work at a competitive level can attend competitions and workshops outside of the local area.
Having a safe and welcoming environment is incredibly important to me not only as a parent but as an educator. From the Director and Assistant Directors, to the teachers, to the front office staff the people who work at Amyclae could not be more accommodating. They work hard to ensure that all students appreciate what dance has to offer. Amyclae Dance Academy brings in instructors from around the U.S. for workshops and master classes so that students can learn new techniques and see the variety of professional dance opportunities that exist. My daughter eagerly looks forward to these opportunities and enjoys having had the opportunity to work with Nico Greetham, Charles Lawrence, and the amazing faculty from Tremaine Dance based out of LA (to name a few).
This studio has a whole child focus and adjusts instruction so that each student is working to their best potential. Students grow in confidence as they perform and learn how to work together as an ensemble.
I would strongly encourage anyone to stop in and meet Carla, Hope, or Anna at the front desk and take a tour of the studio. Meet the fabulous instructors and talk to the parents who are waiting for their dancers. You will find it is a wonderful place for children to grow their love of dance and build their confidence as young men and women.

When looking for a dance studio, most important to me are instructors who are good role models. I did not find that at Amyclae Dance Academy. During our time there, I heard many stories from parents of children being treated badly by the "artistic director" and had a hard time believing someone would treat children that way until she started mistreating my daughter. This is how she does things. It seems that once she decides she doesn't like a parent, she takes it out on the child We left the studio after that year. We waited until the end of the competition season, because at ADA, all monies are paid at the beginning of the year and there are no refunds given for any reason. This is how the "artistic director" tries to keep her customers in check. Once a customer starts being treated poorly, he/she has already paid in so much money it makes it difficult to just walk away. In my daughter's case it was a good thing, as it taught her to deal with adversity and rise above it. For others I know, it had horrible effects.
My daughter still remains friends with children who attend ADA. Recently, almost a full year later, we were informed by current members of the dance team that another "teacher" at ADA told lies about my daughter during a rehearsal. When it got back to the "artistic director" that I knew about the lies, she promptly informed the dance team that they were "gossiping," she would find out who it was, and they would be kicked off of the team. This is another one of her scare tactics: in the team contract it states that "gossiping" is cause for dismissal from the team. I don't know how she justifies one of her "teachers" talking about my child who does not even attend classes there not gossiping, but children repeating the lies she told IS gossiping. I believe this was an attempt to turn these children against my daughter using manipulation and fear. Unfortunately, some of these children have cut ties with my daughter as a result. She just turned 12 and has been quite hurt by the whole ordeal.
Negativity surrounds Amyclae Dance Academy and I would not recommend it to anyone.
I suspect once the "artistic director" finds out about this negative review, she will instruct parents to add positive ones to counteract this one. Ask yourself why it took a negative review for people to post positive ones.
