Special thanks to Janet & Chelsey for always comforting my toddler though a tough transition from swimming with me to only being with instructors. We have been bringing our son to this swimming pool for about three years. The staff and instructors are very kind and usually quite experienced. However, one major issue is that the experienced instructors tend to leave quickly, and we are forced to change our son’s instructor frequently. We wish the facility would implement a better plan to retain its experienced teachers, allowing the children to complete their courses more smoothly and enhance their learning experience.

We were members of another AquaTots, and we transferred over due to us having so many make ups, and the other swim school was extremely crowded… We took a chance coming over here and never looked back. The staff is wonderful. They instructors are wonderful. My daughter is having a really good time here, and honestly as parents, so are we 😉. Our biggest concern was the instructors noting her progress.The reports are immediate and easy to follow. Horrible experience!!! Yesterday my daughter (2 years and 8 months) had her free trial. Because of her age, she had to enter alone with 3 other children (not parents). Obviously she was scared because this is her first class after more than 1 year of being out of her other classes when she was baby and obviously she doesn’t know the swim teachers. She cried a lot during the whole class (30 minutes) the manager of the pool was with her in the water and she ignored her most of the time. When about 15 minutes passed I asked the staff if they could get her out of the pool and let her come to me. Because I knew she wasn't enjoying it, but two female staff told me it was normal, and I said ok. I told her that she speaks and understands more Spanish than English that maybe she doesn't even understand them, so she told me they can offer another free trial with someone who speaks Spanish, but they let her continue crying, they didn't let me take her. I can understand that she is sad when she is not with us, but I did not see a lot of attempt by the manager to calm her down, the other teacher took her about two or three times and tried to make her feel better. But my daughter continued crying for the rest of the class. None of the teachers came up to talk to us after class. The truth is that we were very upset with what happened. Disappointed!!!

Is this swimming lessons or a never ending subscription plan. progress feels very very slow. Spent $1500 since September and the kids were doing the same exact thing still after 6 mos that they did on the first class. 6 months of lessons and kids should be pretty competent swimmers, its not exactly rocket science.

Feels like their whole business plan is based around keeping you in lessons forever so they make $$$$$

My twins started at Aquatots at 2 years old and the parent-and-me class was the perfect way to acclimate our kids in the water and get them comfortable!! When we moved up to level 3 and we no longer went in the water with them, our son had a very difficult time adjusting. The staff was so patient, compassionate, and knowledgeable with him and we couldn’t be more grateful! We took a break for a few months and now we’re back at it and after the first lesson, my son said “I love swim class!” The team at Aquatots is top notch and we are so excited to see our kids continue to make progress in the pool!

My daughter has been learning here for over a year now and has learned a lot in that time.

Pros:
* The curriculum seems effective, they teach bits and pieces of each stroke little by little and build up on those foundations.
* Safety comes first, the coaches only handle a single child at a time.
* instructors give feedback after every lesson to parents (and child).
* Scheduling is extremely flexible. Using the app I can cancel classes and schedule make ups whenever it works for me.
* Very nice and clean facility.
* Water quality seems to be monitored closely. It's warm, comfortable water.
* Classes are run on time consistently. The coaches are punctual.

Cons:
* Classes are very short, especially when there are 4 kids. Each child only gets a few minutes of attention over the course of a session.
* The short duration seems to cause instructors to rush some lessons. For example, my child needs a moment on her back float to feel comfortable and calm down before attempting the chicken-star-rocket stroke but the instructors don't have time to let the child relax before moving on.
* Constant turnover of coaches is problematic for children like mine who like a consistent and trusted face during lessons. This is probably rooted in the low pay for coaches, they seem to mostly be recent high school graduates who move on frequently.
* Steep price for the total instructional time actually received per month
* Coaches don't have time to input progress into the online progress tracker, so it's mostly useless.

With enough time and money, I'm sure my daughter will learn to swim here in the long run, so I'll continue to enroll her.

I was very nervous about enrolling my son in a group class with his sensory needs but after talking with the managers and instructors, I enrolled him in SNAP (Special Needs Aquatic Program) and he loves his instructor. Some lessons are better than others but James is always patient and attentive to his needs and always finds a way to make my little on enjoy class. I enjoy seeing how happy my son it's his turn to swim.

We took our daughter here for 3-4 years and she never developed the skills to their satisfaction to make it out of level 3 (they don't actually teach how to swim in level 3). The class was plagued with persistent instructor turnover, so my daughter never developed the trust to feel comfortable with the instructor for the back float skills. I'm just disappointed that we spent so much time and money here and my daughter still can't swim. She did enjoy the classes though.

We’ve been taking lessons with Aquatots for a few months now. The group classes include up to 4 kids and are 30 minutes long. We love Coach Jasmin although we wish the classes were longer and/or smaller. Semi private and private lessons are available for a steep price which are not an option for us.

We had a substitute teacher one week who we were pretty unhappy with. My daughter was visibly upset, crying, and scared (she had just turned 4 that week.) At the end of the class, the substitute came out and told me twice how she needed to work on using her “listening ears” and had no compassion whatsoever. My daughter is a MAJOR rule follower and was clearly just scared during her swim lesson. Needless to say, we make sure to never schedule a makeup class with that particular teacher.

Also, there’s only two private showers to use and no other showers. It’s always a battle to get to the showers first. I don’t understand how they only put two showers in the entire place when there’s always at least two classes going on at the same time.

We LOVE our coach (Miss Jazmin!) She makes both my son & I feel at ease throughout class, even when he’s struggling or feeling nervous about being in the water. We’re welcomed at the door every single week by David, who ALWAYS smile & gives encouragement to my two-year-old. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Aqua Tots. They are truly something special. My son struggled his first few lessons. The first day he cried the whole lesson. One of the front desk staff came over to reassure me he would start getting more comfortable as time went on and asked if I had any questions. His teacher Monti has a very calming and kind demeanor that my son clearly takes to. The teacher to student ratio is 1:4 for my sons level which seems very safe. The teachers are careful and watch them closely to ensure safety.

It’s also very very easy to schedule make ups and cancel if needed with the app.

This place is also so clean! The lobby, bathrooms, and changing areas are very nice.

Aqua-Tots has some of the most caring and in-tune instructors for kids. I enrolled my child before his 4th birthday and he's been safe at his grandparents pool, swim activities in Cacun and recently snorkeling in the Carribean. Overall, we have been happy with our experience at Aqua Tots. Our daughter who started when she was 13 months old, now almost 3 loves going once a week. Although I’d love to see a faster progression of skills, we have been happy with the instructors.

My son loves going to classes with Coach Dany! My son was in level 2 and was with Coach Dany for less than a year before she moved him onto level 3. After that shift I had to get accustomed to different coaches in which coach Ingrid and Brenda did an amazing job with my son as well. While searching for new classes and meeting new instructors, Paula at the front desk helped me with rearranging my scheduled visits and letting me know of her openings. The facility is very clean. There are lots of seats available and a complete view of the pool. The instructors are wonderful. Coach Brenda is amazing. Our three year old had never been in any body of water other than a bath tub, and even washing his hair is a fight. I had quite a few friends and family members recommend Aqua Tots Swim Schools to me years ago so I ended up taking my daughter there for swim lessons (another location) as both my husband and I had been unsuccessful at even getting her to let us teach her ourselves for years. My boys (4/6) love AquaTots! The coaches are patient and masterful at working with children. We’ve seen great progress with swimming and comfort in the water. As a parent, I feel SO much better when they are around water. Here’s a breakdown of what we have experienced:
1) The coaches are awesome - really. Not only are they warm and friendly with the kids and families, but they seem skilled at handling kids’ emotions and fears. Sometimes kids are frightened, or being strong willed, and they manage to make it all OK. I’ve seen this happen over and over. My defiant little guy went from tantrum to laughing and participating within about 30 seconds with Master Instructor/Coach Bijan. We’ve had great experiences with not only Bijan, but with Coaches TJ, Emily, Hope, Abby, Jocelyn, Yaneth... we’ve worked with many as we move through levels and juggle our schedule.
2) COVID precautions are great. Limited observation room numbers, outside seating, frequent cleaning, and required masks. Temps taken upon entry, and even coaches in the pool are wearing full face shields.
3) Communication is frequent and focused. After the lessons, the coaches let you know how it went and progress is updated on the parent website as well. Areas of strength and improvement are identified.
4) Time for fun. If lessons went well and goals were achieved, they have little rewards at the end that kids love. Aqua ball, a “boat” ride, games. It keeps motivation high. Pool props also help engage kids. Squirty fish, rings, floats, and noodles become teaching tools.
5) Scheduling has been easy, and AquaTots Centreville has always worked with us on our scheduling needs. We’ve changed days and times a few times as our needs at home have changed.
6) If something goes wrong, they fix it. If a child is disruptive in a lesson, they apply make-up lessons for the others in the group. If someone contaminates the pool, they follow protocol and you don’t lose your time.
7) Front desk staff are great. Friendly and efficient and always very welcoming. Holly will stop and chat with my 6 yr old and makes him feel like a superstar, and she’s not the only one that gives a very personal touch.

Coming from a beach/pool family, I knew he would be around water a lot so learning safety was very important. These lessons are so great and potentially life saving! I love that not only is my son not afraid of water, he LOVES it! Everyone we have met who works here is incredibly nice and helpful and my son loves all of the coaches. They are also incredibly flexible if you have a sick child! My little guy has a few ear infections and bronchiolitis over the last few months and they allow you to cancel and reschedule a makeup. We love Aqua-Tots!

I signed my son up for lessons at this location, and I'm so pleased that I did. We recently purchased a home with a pool, and my water loving 2 year old needed some safety lessons before summer. We have just had four lessons and he is already floating almost independently on his back. I couldn't be happier with the progress, the coaches, or the professionalism. Brand new clean facilities, and a strong safety based curriculum makes this a great place to go.

My five year old loves it here. The coaches are incredibly nice and patient. We have only had 3 lessons so far, but I have seen tremendous improvement with his water skills.

Wow just wow. I wish i could rate 6 stars, never in my life have i been so impressed with an establishment. When i started here less than 6 weeks ago i could not swim at all. After graduating their level 1 class i am now a full fledged dolphin performing at seaworld. its a dream come true. Would recommend 10/10
