I’ve been a part of this gym for 5 years now and absolutely love it. When I first moved to Virginia from Georgia, I was living in alexandria and knew absolutely no one. After joining this gym, I’ve met some incredible people and coaches and made leaps and bounds in my strength training. I have since moved from Alexandria to Ballston and still continue to make the commute to this gym because you can’t beat the quality. I would absolutely recommend!

Moving from the west coast to the east coast was not easy but after finding Capital CrossFit Alexandria that transition became a lot easier! I’ve been here almost 3 years, in that short time I have been supported nonstop by this awesome community, my amazing coaching staff and especially by Capital & Don. I couldn’t be happier to be part of The Capital Fitfam!

After college I struggled to find a CrossFit gym that was not only welcoming but also had great coaches and workouts. Capital has been just that! The owner and coaches have been nothing but phenomenal. Coach Jess especially will make sure to work with you and your form. Definitely make sure to check them out!

I came to capital a few years ago after leaving another local CrossFit gym due to the leadership and class/programming structure. Not only did Capital provide what I was looking for as it relates to coaching style and programming, but the environment had been so incredibly welcoming since day 1. Grateful to have made such a wonderful group of friends who I genuinely look forward to seeing every day. The coaches are top notch and sincerely care about the development of every individual. Every class starts from the basics to ensure no one feels uncomfortable going into a workout, and the workouts are both challenging and fulfilling.

I joined Capital specifically for the CrossFit program shortly after the COVID shutdown and have been a member now for 5 years. If you’re looking for a non-judgmental atmosphere to get a good workout and make connections, I’d highly recommend giving this gym a shot. You have a great mix of athleticism and coaches who can tailor your workout experience to your fitness level.

went here for a while in 2022 on a crazy overpriced open gym membership. I found the staff and several members to be hostile and unwelcoming. one of the guys that worked there wouldn't even look at me let alone say hi. I kept to myself mostly and did my own thing but there were still really strange and crazy incidents of aggressive members, one in particular tried to fight me next to the squat racks because he wanted that entire space to himself for a weird workout. All I wanted to do was squat. I felt so uncomfortable there and thankfully i don't live in VA anymore so I don't have to go back there.

I joined this gym two years ago originally for Muay Thai. When I found out they have Crossfit too I got curious and tried it out with a friend despite being generally intimidated by it. To my surprise, the coaches were very friendly and accommodating to beginners like me. The community is very supportive and the workouts are challenging. They also have fun events that really foster the sense of community. I'm so glad I joined Capital, and I highly recommend it!

Awesome Community! My husband and I and our two kids have been going to this gym for almost two years. We love it—family-friendly, great CrossFit coaches and programs for Jujisu & Wrestling for the kids. We are a military family that moves a lot, and it was so lovely to find a family away from home here. Thank you, Capital Crossfit!

OMG, I love this place! I travel a lot and visit many gyms, but this one holds a special spot in my heart. I came to Capital CrossFit for a few drop-ins and to do my 23.1 Open workout.

Don, thank you so much for the warm welcome and all the support. I loved the Harry Potter-themed shirts where the money has been donated to a local animal shelter. You really rock, Don! Stay awesome 💪.

This is a great CrossFit gym. They have plenty of equipment and continually add more. During Covid the classes are limited to make sure everyone has personal space. The best part of the gym is the community and the coaches!

I joined Capital after being referred from another gym actually, and it’s been a fantastic experience.

I originally came for the Jiu Jitsu, which was a massive improvement over the program I had come from. The owner is a black belt under Royce Gracie himself, and he’s managed to set up an excellent, thorough program. I was super impressed. The classes build off of one another, and the other coaches are all extremely qualified. Great class sizes as well, you’ll always have someone to roll with.

With COVID, I decided to switch over to the CrossFit side to try and get back a base level of fitness, and it’s been a huge godsend. It can be pretty intimidating at first (I do not have a weightlifting background), but you pretty quickly get the hang of it. As with most workouts, you do get out what you put in - show up 3-4 times a week and you’re definitely going to notice. Coaches are awesome, always happy to help and stop to explain things. Really happy to be a part of it.

Lastly the price - it’s actually a really great deal when you compare it to what you get elsewhere. A membership here which combines BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA, and CrossFit classes is cheaper than other area gyms which charge just for CrossFit. Really happy I made the decision to swap over.

I was a member of this gym for awhile. It was okay at best. The Crossfit area was small. The coaching wildly inconsistent. A couple were decent crossfitters, a couple apparently came from different backgrounds. But, I never really felt welcomed at the gym (I’m LE.) There would be group events that were never mentioned, ya know, high school stuff, but ‘message received.’ No big deal, as that’s become the new norm in a bunch of affiliates, so I mostly used the open gym hours (which even I have to admit were EXTREMELY GENEROUS compared to most affiliates!!! If you are a solo athlete, just looking for equipment — not classes / community — check it out.) The communication was never great. One Saturday I showed up to workout by myself. Apparently, there had been a last minute opportunity to host a weight lifting seminar, so the Crossfit area was closed. I asked the manager, Don, if he could grab a kettlebell for me when the class on break, set it out the backdoor (in the cargo loading alleyway), and I would put something something together for myself outside of the facility. This—apparently unreasonable—request was met with, “No, I can’t do that.” Roger that, sir. Shortly after that impressive display of customer service, I moved on. Don’t misunderstand, I did meet some terrific and kind people there. This review is of the business (in Alexandria), the management and the general atmosphere (at least as it was for me.) If you are LE, there are far more welcoming gyms in the NOVA area. In this case, it would be worth a few extra minutes in the car.
