I can't say enough good things about this gym! I was looking for a gym near me, and from the moment I joined, I felt welcomed by an incredible group of members who genuinely support one another. It's not just a place to work out—it’s a true community.

I was looking for a gym near me and discovered CFB which turned out to be fantastic and supported by top-notch staff. The equipment is great (e.g. Speal Bars (IYKYK), GHD, etc.) and there is ample space to work, even in larger classes. Additionally, they run skills seminars that are really worthwhile. I've attended a 6 week gymnastics skills course and a Crossfit-oriented yoga class - both were FANTASTIC.

Update: in the months since posting this review, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in a few additional programs offered by CFB. Specifically, The Shredz challenge, offered periodically throughout the year, is truly excellent. The program is a comprehensive nutrition and hypertrophy plan spanning 6 weeks that offers a thoughtful balance of body building techniques and CrossFit metcons with the goal of shedding body fat and maintaining or building muscle. Just another proven example of the diverse programs offered at this gym. Can’t recommend enough.

CrossFit Burke was my saving grace since returning to CrossFit. I was on a 6/7 hiatus, life happened, moved half way around the world, and went to a different CF gym but was met with disappointment. I've been a member of this gym since 2014. The staff is great, the workouts are good and everyone is very friendly. It's also a place where you can adjust the workout to what works for you and there is no pressure to keep up with the strongest person. The coaches provide personalized help and lots of instruction and help on the fundamentals. I've been to over 40 other CrossFit gyms and I think this one is the best. It's helped me get stronger, more flexible and feel better.

Almost 7 years ago, I anxiously walked into CrossFit Burke worried about what I was getting myself into.

After the first week, I was unsure my body could handle the soreness from muscles that had rarely, if ever, been used before. An experienced CrossFitter told me to just keep showing up. I did.

While I still scale (modify) a large percentage of the movements--I am stronger. I just look at my numbers. They don't lie, I am fitter.

I show up for the workouts I like, because Power Cleans, Rowing, and Box Jumps are movements I enjoy, and want to get better at.

I show up for the workouts I'm not fond of, because Running, Thrusters, and Burpees are all movements I struggle with, and I now want to get better at them.

The only decision I have to make each day is to show up. The coaches, fellow athletes, and workouts take care of the rest.

No coach or member has ever made me feel "less than" because of my inability to perform a movement.

I enjoy seeing my old self in new members that walk in the door. I like telling them to keep showing up. It's great seeing fellow athletes reach milestones. (First this, Max that) And each year, I surprise myself at least once or twice with a new skill or partial skill. Bonus for me these days is getting to work out with my kid.

For a long time I had a hard time with working out, I would rarely take time out of my day to head to a gym and do a solid workout. That was until Burke. My favorite gym I’ve tried! If you’re even slightly interested in CrossFit, you should try out a class here. I was nervous to start CrossFit BUT everyone here was so kind and welcoming. They were expecting me on the first day so I didn’t walk in and wonder around clueless. I was greeted when I walked in and was given a tour and introduced to so many nice people. It’s a very supportive environment and the workouts are always scaleable. The coaches take time to walk through the moves before each workout so you’re not left without guidance. I’m not a fit human but I freaking love this gym. Before 2023 had you asked me if I were ever going to join a CrossFit gym I’d give you a very confident “hell no!” Bc muscling around weights and jumping all over the place is not “my thing.” But one day I dropped in for a trial class “just to see” and everyone was sooo nice and welcoming. I still didn’t believe that a gym could cater to someone such as myself (not fit, difficulty running/jumping, not interested in muscling it out w the younger dudes) so I went to another local gym. That set me straight real quick and I came back to CrossFit Burke to give it the good old college try. And you know what happened? I found a community. I found trainers who are interested in my progress as compared to ME and not the whole class. I found that being honest with my limitations (talking to you, old knees) allowed them to help me modify and still get a challenging workout. Early on I was in class and was doing a lot of internal negative self-talk. I wasn’t “keeping up” per my own standards and Coach Matt walks over to me and gently says “you’re doing great. just keep moving, Jocey.” And in that moment, his quiet encouragement meant everything to me. On my more challenging days I find myself repeating that bit of encouragement. It wasn’t a big classroom call out to “do better” it was a simple, quiet push that helped remind me that I can do hard things as long as I keep moving. Coaches are friendly and knowledgeable. Other Crossfitters are chatty, encouraging, and are happy to see one another. Give CrossFit Burke a try!

This has been my fitness home for 7yrs. I was in my 40's when I started, been exercising on my own but got to a point where I wasn't challenging myself anymore and needed a change. I saw Crossfit Burke on FB and thought I would look into it. I talked to the owner who educated me about what Crossfit is about. Personally, I hate all cardio workouts so I was immediately interested when he told me that CF is many exercises, esp strength training.
After taking the intro classes, I was hooked. I had never sweated so much working out, ever. The coaches were aware that I was new and made sure they showed me the correct way to move to prevent injury (very important). Each class had different exercises so it was never boring.
After 6 months, I noticed I had only a few pounds (not really my goal) but had trimmed down. My physique was more svelt and gained more muscle (that's why my weight hadn't dropped a ton). I am stronger and healthier now than I ever was.
And a huge plus is the friends I have made at CF Burke, we all support each other to do better, a great community!

My wife and I drive 30+ minutes each way from Alexandria (grrr) because this gym is different. Crossfit can have a reputation of being too intense, intimidating, meat-head-y, etc. That's true at some gyms, and find if that works for you. CrossFit Burke is different. Starts with the owner, Chad, who genuinely cares about the success of every athlete, and is always smiling and welcoming. He and his training team understand how to modify movements based on ability, previous injury, etc. But also how to strengthen around those weaknesses so they can become strengths. After 20+ years of Crossfit, I can confidently say that I still think it's the best modality for most, regardless of what the trends are. It just makes sense... functional movements, weight and body weight resistance, and a mix of high and low intensity. But, none of that matters if you aren't happy in the gym. And no, you don't have to call it a box. This place is bright, open, and friendly... you'll actually have fun. Yes, the moments after most workouts typically feel like anything but fun... but the endorphins kick in shortly afterward. It's the workout at he right place.

Coaching
- Overall, coaches and instruction are excellent. Coaches usually explain the day’s workout, demonstrate movement progressions and standards, and motivate members during the workout.
- On occasion, I have attended classes where instruction was mediocre, the wod explanation was insufficient, and/or the coach does not correct individuals with improper technique.

Programming
- Classes usually consist of a beginning strength or gymnastics focus, then a wod.
- Coaches rotate who creates the programming throughout the year, thus workouts are consistent for a few months during the year before changing.
- I would prefer workouts more closely follow the Crossfit ideology by being more creative and involve more varied movements, weights, and time domains.
- On average, only 1-3 girl/hero wods are programmed per month. I feel this is too few.
- The gym offers many other additional programs such as weightlifting classes, crossfit kids/teens, summer bod squad, and shredz.
- A week’s worth of workouts are released ahead of time. Saturdays and occasional mystery wods are not listed which does not allow members to record their scores.
- Sundays do not have wods, only open gym and skill clinic. I have showed up a couple times expecting the gym to be open when it is not, however lately the gym has better communicated when skill clinics will take place and what subject they will cover.

Facility
- The gym is spacious with ample equipment.
- Large classes can sometimes result in cramped working spots.
- Parking during evening classes can be challenging because of the neighboring gymnastics facility, dance studio, church, and brewery.
- I asked if the water fountain could be fixed to produce cold water and was told there was little chance of that happening.

Community
- As with most Crossfit gyms, the coaches and members are great people and the environment is welcoming and encouraging.

I will continue to frequent this gym primarily for the excellent coaching and inviting community. I only wish the programming was more consistent, creative, and challenging.

We love this gym!! Our 13 year old was looking for something to keep her active during the winter months and asked if she could try CrossFit. I was so nervous until I met the coaches and saw how incredible they are with her on a personal level but mostly on a safety level. If you are looking for a friendly gym with knowledgeable and professional staff, CrossFit Burke is the place to be. I joined 6 years ago and I love it. Everyone is so friendly and the staff is very patient. The staff works with you to adjust the exercises to fit your abilities. Everyone in the class focuses on their own workout and I never feel like anyone is judging whether or not I am doing a movement good enough. The owner, Chad, is personally involved and always takes time to answer any questions that I have and is very encouraging. I had a health issue in 2018 but continued to go to CrossFit when I could. Following recovery I was left with pain, flexibility and strength issues. I started working with one of their coaches and within 6 months many of my problems greatly improved! I've been a member of CrossFit Burke since 2014, the owner Chad, and the entire coaching staff are awesome. No matter where you are on your fitness journey you are welcomed here. From absolute beginner to ready for the CF Open there is space for you. Seriously, if you have been looking for a place to help you improve this is it. Most classes have between 5-15 people and with that you get friendly, non judgmental people, no barbell gym rats, no mirrors, just solid workouts. The cool thing about CrossFit is that it's scalable, so every workout can be modified to your skill and ability and absolutely 100% zero judgement.

I've had several boot camp / CrossFit sessions at Origin Fitness and I'm very pleased with my experience. I drive by every day, as I live in the area, and Chad the owner has been very attentive in responding to my initial inquiry to learn more, answered my questions and made me feel very comfortable to sign up at his gym. Trainers, Todd, Chad, Matt and Andy are very kind and helpful. I really appreciate the fact that they jump right in and help with form. They also have very specific stretches before and after the workouts that target the exact areas that we worked that day. I've done other boot camp classes at another gym for a long time without this level of guidance and really like that the trainers at Origin are right there to help each step of the way. This place is also very clean. They make sure that all the equipment is wiped down thoroughly after each use and then everything is sanitized on top of that. I signed up for the package that allows as many classes as you'd like. So if I want to attend in the morning or evening I can. I appreciate the flexibility. The classes definitely kick your butt which is exactly what I was hoping for!

I joined the CrossFit Burke over two years ago and have found the coaches and programming to be fantastic. The smaller class size ensures that coaches can focus on each person to make sure you're doing the movements correctly, and you can adjust the workouts based on your fitness level. I'm glad I found this gym! Great staff/coaches that always teach the proper technique for each exercise during every session. Fantastic gym - Chad and his team of coaches have created a truly special place. The coaches are all cross fit experts. They are especially adept at tailoring cross fit workouts to each participating athlete so that they can exercise safely. The coaches pay close attention to all class athletes. They provide recommendations to help the athlete perform and get better.

Origin fitness is a friendly environment with a very positive atmosphere. People leave their egos at the door. The focus is on having a good time while getting fit and stronger.

There's something for everyone - from the out of shape beginner to the well practiced cross fit strength training experts. I've been a member for two years - after a 20 year gym hiatus - I've greatly improved my strength and aerobic fitness. I'm healthier and feel better. I highly recommend Origin Fitness.

I signed up here about a month and a half ago. Coming from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I've been on again, off again nursing a lower back issue. I was skeptical on working out and injuring myself again, but Coach Todd Tolosa has been instrumental and amazing in not only the work outs, but personally helping me with back stretches and work outs. Since I've been working with him I have had no back pain, and I'm strengthening my back so I can work up in weight.

Overall the staff here is very nice, and approachable. I've seen them personally handle people from all walks of life at different fitness levels. I cannot recommend Origin enough.

I do not have any sort of athletic background; no sports, no gymnastics, nothing. So to say I was intimidated to start Crossfit, in my mid 40s, is a total understatement. What I do have is the most encouraging and supportive husband on the planet, so I followed his lead and dived in a month after he started.

The owner and Head Coach, Jamie, was/is incredibly supportive and understanding that I was coming in as a truly bottom-rung beginner. And the Coaches ... all equally stellar, professional, knowledgeable, and encouraging. My perfect match on-ramp Coach's mantra "just show up and do what you can do, don't worry about what you can't do (yet)" still gets me through many a workout. Thank you Todd! I have yet to come across a Coach that has any sort of "you can't do that?" air to them. We all start somewhere and they are genuinely there to help take you from where you're at to where you'd like to be.

I started CF with a tear in one of my rotator cuff muscle that presently is keeping me from being able to do a high-pull. My Physical Therapist and Orthopaedic MD agree, CF under the supervision of these coaches is playing a big role in the healing process as the entire shoulder complex is getting stronger. Again, the staff is so accommodating and always ready to give me alternative movements so I can still put in the work whilst working through this issue with my shoulder. Don't let an injury prevent you from starting at Crossfit Burke!

Like marriage, and life in general, you'll get out of this what you put into it. I have never worked so hard in my life as I have the past six months at CFB. But the personal achievements thus far are mind blowing in my mind. Let's be honest, when you're new to CF every WOD is a PR moment, but some of the most profound changes I've experienced thus far: I used to not be able to touch my toes (seated on floor with legs out in front of me). Now I can; with ease. I used to not be able to do a strict push-up. Now I can. Thank you Alex G. for post WOD homework that got me there. I used to have (daily) severe sciatic pain down right leg. I literally commuted with a folded pillow case under my right sit bone just to get through any length of time in the car. All of that, completely gone!

Lastly, the community. Amazing. Unlike your typical gym where creepers abound and you put in earbuds and avoid eye contact with everyone because of them ... CF is truly a different thing altogether. I am SO ENJOYING getting to know the people in the classes I attend. Everyone supports each other and cheers each other on no matter your skill level. Truly.

It's a time and finance commitment, indeed. But it's SO worth the investment. I'm a true convert to CF. I'm all in, and I'm blessed to be a part of this community.

This is truly a superior CrossFit experience. CFB has a large and light space with quality equipment. The coaches and the owner are personable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. If you have never tried CrossFit before (I had never tried before starting at CFB) don't be intimidated - the coaches are fantastic! I'm stronger now at 36 years old than I have ever been before and I give all the credit to CrossFit Burke. I've been going here for 3 months. The staff are excellent and the daily programs are enjoyable and very challenging. Having not going to a gym in at least 10 years, I was concerned at first that I would not be able to complete the workouts or get hurt. But those concerns quickly went away. The trainers help you with proper form at each workout and can scale the exercises to address your fitness level. I feel great and look forward to the next workout.

After a long road of medical crap, my body has no strength or stamina. Literally zero. I went to a free evaluation with the owner, and my daughter tagged along. After putting us through a great sweat fest that I was actually able to finish, he declared us both perfect candidates for CF. And he was right. I am by far the slowest, weakest and heaviest person in there (for now), and it doesn't matter one bit. The workouts are tailored to my abilities (or lack thereof), and I am working JUST as hard as everyone else in there. My strong and fit daughter is learning proper lifting technique and she loves it. The icing on the cake is the people in the classes with me. They offer encouragement and you know from the beginning that you belong. It's the best workout I've ever had and definitely the best environment I've ever exercised in. I don't give fake reviews and I don't give reviews lightly. This place is the real deal.

My wife and I joined Crossfit Burke in January 2014. We are in our 40s and in a past life as a gymnast in the 1980s (or back in the 1900's, as our 11 year old daughter likes to say), my wife sustained some injuries that have come back to haunt her. When we joined, she had difficulty going up stairs (knees), lifting anything over her head (shoulders), picking up any weight (old blown lumbar disk) and running (all of the above). After 6 months, with excellent coaching and scaled down workouts for her, my wife says the Crossfit Burke team (Jamie, Stephanie and Jack) has put Humpty back together. She can do overhead barbell work, squats with weight on the shoulders, bench presses and even running, all of which were unthinkable in December. Whatever your fitness level, of lack thereof, give this a try. Great gym, great coaches, no meatheads. It will be the best money you have ever spent.

He will explain the benefits of crossfit, the program and community, and maybe provide a free introduction. I've been at CFB since they opened (year +) and though not new to Crossfit, have learned a tremendous amount while substantially improving my fitness and skills. A place to start a new and healthier phase of your life. I had never tried CrossFit before I came here but I am confident that I found a very high caliber gym.

The facility is very big and really well furnished but the real selling point is the quality of the staff and their teaching. I felt welcomed from the first day and never intimidated because I could barely do one pull up.

Burke CrossFit is very much about building a community around results based exercise and fitness.
