Crossfit Charlottesville is an excellent place to train. Ive been part of a few different Crossfit gyms as I travel often with work, and this is by far one of the best. Jon and his staff are concerned with athlete safety, first and foremost. They provide a clean environment for athletes of all levels to workout. Class area as well as open gym area provide a space for people who want to train with a class or on their own. Equipment allows for a variety of different programming to be completed. White boards for writing personal workouts down and individual rags for cleaning all add to the little things that make this place a great gym.
Onsite showers are a big plus.
Jon and his coaches are all committed to following programing and working hard. They are all in great shape and push their members to be their best as well. I really enjoy working out here!

I was in Charlottesville for the morning and decided to drop in. The process to sign up and pay was easy. Coach Lauren welcomed me to the gym and showed me around. The members were friendly and inviting. Coach Lauren paired me with another athlete and the WOD went great. I will definitely drop in again when I’m in the area.

Love this place! I was a member for about 10 months until I moved out of Charlottesville. The coaches are outstanding, each very knowledgeable in both the set programs as well as alternatives/scaling. I found the other members to be very friendly and welcoming which made for a great vibe. Highly recommend!

I love this place. I find the coaches to be exceptional. They work individually with each student in the group class setting to help modify and meet each students individual needs. They demonstrate all the movements (which is very helpful as I am only in my first year of doing CrossFit). I have never seen a coach be anything but warm and welcoming. I have had the privilege of visiting other CrossFit gyms around the country and I feel very grateful my gym here in Charlottesville seems to be the best quality coaching. The coaches also offer personal training and all hold degrees in something equal to physical therapy, kinesiology and chiropractic medicine. They have a good eye for watching body mechanics and will correct your alignment as you move. They also help make the movements attainable to any level of ability. Crossfit is nothing like I thought it was going to be! Don’t let the word CrossFit scare you. These people will welcome you and take care of you while helping you attain physical fitness.

2 stars for the space - it’s very useful to have separate spaces for classes and for athletes who follow different programming.
However, my main intent for this review is to affirm that Nick Meyers’ experience was not unique. Nick happened to be part of a second group that didn’t “fall in line” with the C’Ville programming and were “invited to leave” - those folks have found a new, happy, relaxed and welcoming space.
It is unfortunate that the owner of C’Ville runs his business with disregard to members and coaches who are not willing to conform to his expectations. For a true CrossFit experience, I would recommend another facility.

My intent was to come on here and make sure everyone knew that Nicholas Myers' experience with the gym is unique and a result of his own disrespect towards the space, others, & the owner, but I don't really think I need to. When a business has only ONE 1-star rating, you know it's for a reason.
Crossfit Charlottesville's programming isn't all about wrecking your body, it's about performance and longevity. Make no mistake, it is WORK, but it's the type of work that isn't going to make you want to die the next day or leave you injured in a few weeks. The programming makes you feel strong, confident, & ready for the next day. The owner Jon does a phenomenal job making each and every member feel welcome and heard and there's no place I would've rather began my fitness journey at.
Whether you're new to fitness or new to the area, this gym is badass and you should come check it out. Plus, it looks like there's some membership spots opening up!

I joined CrossFit Charlottesville in 2019 because I wanted to be more intentional with my training and learn proper form. The coaches were great, but with the programming implemented, I couldn't go 2 months without experiencing an overuse injury. Finally, after a bad shoulder injury that limited my ability to train in 2021, I decided to leave.
During this time, I tried out a variety of programming (PVRN, CompTrain, etc.) and landed on Functional Body Building by Marcus Filly. I followed his "Persist" track for nearly a year before realizing in 2022 that CrossFit Charlottesville was under new ownership and that the new owner was implementing their own version of "Persist" in the gym! As soon as I realized this I was back.
Here's the thing with a lot of other CrossFit gyms -- the programming is often at a high technical level and all about heavy lifting and 100% intensity. This can cause newer members who aren't there yet in their fitness journey to feel discouraged. CrossFit Charlottesville isn't that. It's a safe space where the coaches and the programming meet folks where they are on their journey. The training here is scalable and places an emphasis on safety. The format and intensity of each day varies and leaves you feeling good and not broken The owner Jon, has done an AMAZING job integrating "Persist" into a 60-minute session. It's sooo hard to fit this good of a workout in, in 60 minutes or less, but he does it.
And most importantly IMO, the vibe is great. Everyone is super friendly, and Jon is super intentional with his interactions. He always makes a point to say hi to members walking in and makes everyone feel comfortable.
If you are looking for a welcoming space with intentional programming that focuses on YOUR GOALS and will leave you feeling strong & healthy in the long run, then this is your spot.

Wow! What a great place!! The owner Jon has the perfect balance of intensity and compassion to encourage, motivate and keep me going. Jon is the most knowledgeable trainer I've ever met. He does a fantastic job of personalizing training based upon his client's goals and abilities. I'm SO IMPRESSED with him! CrossFit Charlottesville is one of the best CrossFit gyms I’ve been to, and the community is second to none. I started at CFC 4 months ago, and in this short time I have not only greatly improved my overall fitness, but I’ve found a community that encourages and inspires me. The coaches are kind, engaging, and very knowledgeable; they deliver thoughtful feedback and foster a welcoming environment. During my hardest semester so far as a UVA student, CrossFit Charlottesville became a place where I could reset, gain a little perspective, and become a mentally and physically stronger person. If you’re interested in achieving your fitness goals alongside wonderful people, look no further than CrossFit Charlottesville!

In my 4+ years of doing Crossfit, this has been the best gym all-round - from stellar coaches that are genuinely supportive to an amazing workout program that is both accessible and rewarding. I've seen so many great improvements at the gym since it started new ownership last year: new equipment, freshly organized, better programming, and honestly a lot more positive energy that really makes me feel like the gym invests as much time in me as I do them. The people and culture around this gym are so supportive and wonderful, I'm excited to see it grow.

Love CrossFit Charlottesville!! The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable, and the environment couldn’t be friendlier. To me, the reason I do CrossFit vs. other workout formats is the community aspect. It’s the most critical factor when I look for a gym, and CrossFit Charlottesville and its current owner have that in spades! The friendly atmosphere and community at CrossFit Charlottesville are what motivate me on those days where self-motivation isn’t quite enough.

I don’t ordinarily leave reviews. mainly because I don’t comment unless I feel a place goes above and beyond what else is out there, and Jon Hanna and the crew of CFC fit that bill to the T.
I started the year off in a very bad place both mentally and physically and it has been a very long journey but now I can say I’m in the best shape of my life and have never felt better and it’s all thanks to this family.
I have always been the one to make fun of CrossFit and mock the culture, and most of that was born out of fear and insecurity in my own physical abilities, but I can truly say I’ve never experienced a more welcoming, more humbling, more rewarding experience than the time I’ve spent here. It’s completely changed my outlook on what I used to believe is possible and has blown away my own limitations and helped me reached goals I never ever thought were possible. No matter where you are in your life, in your journey, you will never ever be sorry for coming here. Thank you Jon, Nicole, Melinda, Mcdowell, Jake, and all my CrossFit friends I’ve met along the way. You guys have truly changed my life. Thank you!

I started going to Crossfit Charlottesville back in April of this year after contemplating going for a while because I was nervous not knowing what to expect. I don’t know why I waited so long to join. something I really love about this gym is that the workouts can be made suitable for anyone’s fitness level and the coaches work hard to help members figure out how to modify them to fit them, and make everyone feel comfortable and included! Honestly it feels more like a little community of friends doing something good for themselves together than it does just a gym and it’s kind of hard to explain until you join to see what I mean! I actually enjoy exercising and look forward to going. Even when the workouts are very challenging they’re fun at the same time. It’s a very supportive and positive environment at CFC and they welcome anyone!

I used to have a very active lifestyle, but life got in the way and it was hard to get back into something I enjoyed. I knew the moment I walked into this gym, I had found a home. I have been going to CFC for 7.5 months and have never felt better! The trainers are awesome and the members are great to be around. If you’re looking to get active, fit, and be surrounded by positive people, then this is the gym you have been looking for.

I joined CrossFit Charlottesville about two months ago, and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I was a bit hesitant about getting into CrossFit at first because I wasn't sure what to expect, but everyone made me feel comfortable and taught me so much right from the start. All of the coaches are experienced and knowledgeable, and are committed to helping you learn and become the best you can be. The community is welcoming and supportive, and it's so motivating to show up to classes with people who are excited and passionate about their goals. Whether you have a background in fitness or are a total beginner, you'll find a home at CFC!

I was looking for a place to workout while visiting for the summer when I came across CrossFit Charlottesville. My interaction with the staff was positive from the first moment - emails were promptly answered, and I was encouraged to check out the gym and classes without any pressure. The experience only got better from there. There is a real sense of community in this place, and you don't have to be a long standing member to feel like you belong. Within a few days of attending classes, I felt that I was joining friends for a workout. Classes are designed to give EVERYONE a great workout, no matter your level or physical restrictions (I have a shoulder injury and got so many tips on how to rehab it!) The coaching staff are absolute gems - each with their own personality and wealth of experience, and each will push you to set new goals, improve technique and just be a better version of you. If you are new to town, passing through, or a C'ville old-timer looking for an amazing place to work out - look no further. I can't wait for my next visit!

I knew I was only going to miss a few things about New Jersey when I moved to C-ville a few months ago—including my gym and trainer, pizza and bagels though not necessarily in that order! I did some research and decided to check out CrossFit Charlottesville and meet Jon Hanna a few days after our move. Within 5 minutes of talking with Jon, I knew I had found the place and trainer for me.
Jon’s sessions are consistently challenging, varied and good for a couple of laughs. I’ve never worked so hard and had so much fun all at the same time. Jon’s upbeat and positive attitude is engaging and motivating every single session. My husband and college-age kids all work out regularly with Jon and we all agree that he’s great!
So, if you are looking to get stronger, leaner or you just want to feel better, look no further. CFC is the place!
Still looking for that pizza tho….

I've been to CrossFits all around the country, and CrossFit Charlottesville is among the best.
I recently returned to CrossFit at CrossFit Charlottesville after several years away. CF Charlottesville is under new ownership - I loved it before and I really love it now! The instruction is high quality and supportive, the environment is friendly and allows you to push hard, and the equipment is comprehensive and is in great shape.
The programming is a perfect match for what I'm looking for: it challenges me to grow stronger and improve my fitness by taking a comprehensive, long-term plan and approach.
Great job, CFC!

I was a complete beginner when I came to CrossFit Charlottesville. I didn’t know much about fitness and had never really worked out in my life before. In fact, I didn’t even join because I wanted to do CrossFit, I joined simply because I was looking for a personal trainer to get in better shape. I had a faint idea of CrossFit and thought it was for skilled athletes, which did make me nervous as someone who was new to working out. But this place is actually very friendly to beginners, no one judges you and people are always open to help. What I like the most here are the coaches. all of them are qualified and skilled, and you can’t really go wrong training with any of them as long as you are consistent. Personally I have to thank my personal trainer, Jon. He really knows about fitness as well as diet, and more importantly, his training is super effective. I’ve achieved physical goals I never thought was possible in just 6 months. If you are looking for a professional coach that makes you work hard and is responsible, then I would highly recommend Jon.

Joining Crossfit Charlottesville has been one of the very best decisions I've made since moving to Charlottesville 2 years ago. The coaching staff is committed to helping each individual member improve and reach their goals no matter where they start. Personally, I have seen vast improvement in skill and strength and I can't wait to see how I continue to grow at this gym. The community at Crossfit Charlottesville is unlike any I have ever experienced before - a tight knit group of friends who provide constant encouragement throughout tough workouts. I would highly recommend trying out this gym if you're looking for something new, you won't regret it!

I recently moved to the Charlottesville area in the summer of 2020 after relocating for a new job. I dropped in at a few gyms, but was certain that Crossfit Charlottesville was the place for me. I had been doing crossfit for about 5 years at the time when I first joined. The community was very welcoming and the coaching staff was very personable. The coaches are well trained and all showed a vested interest in the client goals. Since joining the gym I was able to meet some new great people while getting after it during some great workouts.
