I've been going to CrossFit for over 6 years so when I moved from Tennessee to Virginia I did my research on local gyms. When I joined CrossFit Route 7 I was immediately impressed with how friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive the coaches are. The CrossFitters there are passionate and kind, and they always make you feel welcome. Unfortunately I had to leave the gym do to life circumstances, but the owners were extremely generous and gracious about my situation. We need more CrossFit gyms like this one.

I’m a little older than the average member. I’m semi-retired, after a career and raising a family with my wife. Coming back to fitness wasn’t about chasing trophies — it was about taking care of myself again. I was out of shape and needed to take things in a measured way.

That’s where the coaches have been outstanding. They’ve encouraged me, they’ve guided me, and maybe most importantly, they’ve kept me from giving in to that urge to throw weight around just because the younger guys are moving fast and lifting heavy. My time will come — next year, maybe — but right now it’s about steady progress.

And here’s the thing: if you go online or scroll through YouTube, all you see are professional CrossFit athletes crushing workouts at a level no normal human being could reach. But that’s not what this place is about. The goal here is human scale — to get stronger, healthier, and more capable for the life you’re living. That’s what I’ve found, and that’s what keeps me coming back.

I always have an amazing experience training at CFR7 whenever I’m back home, and this trip was no exception! Dropping in here was truly the highlight of my visit. The gym itself is top-notch: clean and spacious!

Huge shoutout to Coach Tucker, who went above and beyond in every class. He was incredibly attentive, offering thoughtful coaching tips and adjustments that made a real difference in my lifts and movements. I can’t wait to take these cues back with me to Boston and put them into practice.

Between the energy, professionalism, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere, I felt right at home from the moment I walked in. I can’t recommend CFR7 enough; whether you’re local or just visiting, this is the place to train!

CF Route 7 has a very welcoming community in addition to great coaches.

Of note, their coaching staff pay close attention to technique and provide suggestions for technical improvements on any given exercise.

If you’re just starting out with them, the coaches are also very good at helping you scale your workouts to ensure you finish them while still getting a challenge.

Fantastic gym to join, not just for the great workouts - which always end off with a great sweat - but also for the fantastic culture. Outstanding coaches and people to workout and compete with! Would recommend this gym to anybody in the area - whether advanced or beginner at crossfit, this gym, the coaches, the members, and the culture is outstanding!

I love the CrossFit Route 7 classes! The workouts challenge me, and the flexible schedule makes it easy to find a time that fits my day. Anastasia, in particular, is a fantastic instructor—knowledgeable, attentive, and always correcting form when needed. The membership cost is reasonable, and the environment is welcoming and supportive. They’ve created an amazing community here. Highly recommend!!!

Hey you, sitting in front of your phone or laptop researching for your next gym or CrossFit community? Do you want to get fit with trainers who care about your well-being, and make friends who will push you as if you're about to have your next asthma attack? Look no further; a pink barbell said, "CFR7: The Happiest Place On Earth" … it truly is. I’ve been coming to CrossFit Route 7 for about a year; I lost weight ( in a good way), gained muscle, met the greatest coaches, and friends, and have the best training days here.

Crossfit Route 7 is spacious, clean and well equipped. It is particularly well-managed and the coaches are top notch. Many class times to suit any schedule. The best part is the community of people. No matter who you are or what your ability is you will fit in and feel part of something special in no time.

I truly don’t have enough good things to say about CrossFit Route 7. The gym is beautiful, the community is incredible, and the coaching and programming is top tier. The growth I’ve experienced in the last 6 months here is astonishing. I’ve learned skills I never had the confidence to try before. The coaches attention to detail and true personal investment in their athletes (no matter their skill level) is the reason I’ve seen so much marked improvement. Their belief in my abilities has given me the confidence to take this sport seriously and, for the first time in my life , consider myself an athlete.

Hands down the best gym I've ever joined. The various time options throughout the day are so convenient and every single coach I've had the pleasure of learning from has been absolutely fantastic. I've received feedback on form and movement EVERY single class I've attended. And I've been going consistently and often over the past 5 months. The coaches are super friendly and welcoming but will provide that critical feedback as needed for your upward progression. What I like about the training program is that there are long term themes such as an emphasis on building up your legs over the course of several weeks. There is intentionality behind the programming which is something I truly appreciate and don't think you can find as easily elsewhere. Each class will have members with varying skill levels, from beginners to advanced. You can scale down or up depending on your fitness level. Ask your coaches if you're unsure and you'll never feel like you're out of place. I'd highly recommend doing the first free class if you're on the fence. I did and signed up immediately afterwards. Give it a shot, you'll get fit and it's hard at times but always fun.

This workout program is unique in that it combines work to develop flexibility, strength and stamina. As someone who has done little to no work on flexibility over the years, it has been invaluable for me to begin this program. Even if you are a beginner like myself, the program can be modified to insure that you don’t injure yourself. You can see progress within a few weeks.

CrossFit Route 7 was one of the best gyms I have attended. I always felt welcomed and the coaches supported me every step of the way. The members and coaches were always supportive and wanted to see everyone succeed. The equipment was in excellent condition and the staff always made sure things were clean and in the best condition possible.

I would recommend CrossFit Route 7 to anyone who is looking to start crossFit!

Crossfit Route 7 is by far the most welcoming gym I have been to. It starts with the leadership of the gym to the trainers to other members. When I joined a few months back, I was not sure if CF is the right for me or whether it will be too intense. Right from initial trial class onwards, the trainers make it easy to scale the workouts to my ability. It was reassuring to see folks at different ability levels. During workouts, the trainers pay individual attention to technique which makes sure we don't hurt ourselves. Lastly, another aspect that stands out is how the gym is run as a community / family. Overall, a wonderful, welcoming environment with a focus on continuous improvement will keep me coming back.

I have been a member at CrossFit Route 7 (CRF7) for 3 months now. I came into CRF7 as a 50-year old with no weight lifting experience and various knee and shoulder surgeries behind me. To say the least, I came in with trepidation of hurting myself and many doubts on my ability to ‘keep up’. What I have learnt is the CrossFit is infintesimally scalable and the fact that all levels of people do the same workout feels rewarding and challenging at the same time. I have met beginners like me, veterans who fist-bump me at the end of class with an encouraging word of ‘great workout’, and amazing coaches who care.

The gym is special - and what makes it special is the people. I have had ‘WOD- workout of the day’ classes with 9 different coaches over the last 3 months. Each one of them has a beautiful smile, an infectious positive energy, and serious coaching chops. The coaches are amazing at guidance, scaling the workouts to match my abilities, and watch over my technique and perfectly balance the push/pull of challenging me without leaving me dejected.

I still begrudgingly (lazily) walk in the the box, but I know that all I have to do is show up - and I am in good hands. I always walk out suffering a bit and looking dead, but by the time I get home I feel proud of my achievement that day. Thanks to the folks at CRF7 for being my guides on the journey of building health, fitness and fulfillment. The learning curve 'seems' steep but with a lot of guidance and consistent attendance I am already seeing positive impacts on my health and mental well-being.

I love this gym. They hosted a competition, and it was an incredible experience. The gym was clean and spacious, even with the number of competitors there. The competition was well-organized, the information sharing was perfect (especially for mildly anxious people who need all the details in advance, ahem). Check in was a breeze, the judges were kind, supportive, and called things correctly. They even had food onsite, which isn't the case at most competitions. The food was great, the swag bags (and winners’ bags) had amazing goodies that are actually useful- soft shirts, inscribed ice shaker bottles, and freebies/discounts to great stores?! I cannot say enough positive things about my experience there. If you are considering a competition or trying out CrossFit at this gym, DO IT.

CFR7 is a wonderful place to work out in multigenerational and multi-level fitness. Coaches are excellent and focus on each individual's form in class. Progress is made daily, and results are seen within months of learning new skills. I am a senior and have benefitted greatly from all I have worked on and learned in the last 7-8 years of membership at this gym. Love this gym. Been going for just over 7 months now and can tell a huge difference in my strength!! CrossFit has helped not only my physical health, but my mental health too. Life in a pandemic is wild and CrossFit route seven has been a healthy and safe environment. They have air purifiers and we clean down all the equipment. I feel totally safe here, more than any supermarket or store.

Also- The community is incredible. The coaches are all super intelligent and detailed when it comes to form the workouts. (This Box cares about your health and form more than how much weight you can throw around.. while helping you grow in strength and agility.) I am so glad my friends told me to come here. I recommend CrossFit to everyone! No matter your skill level, the Coaches invest their time into training to be able to help you where you are at. Everything is scalable, so if you see stuff in CrossFit you can’t do- don’t worry, just come and try it out. You won’t regret joining this gym and community.

I joined CFR7 with my boyfriend earlier this year and we chose it because the facility is huge, equipment is really well-maintained, and (most importantly) the coaching is stellar and the people are friendly.

The classes were super fun and the programming was mixed (strength & metcon) to assist in easing back into Crossfit after a long hiatus. I had been nervous to start Crossfit again due to some injuries years ago but Brandon has been a god-send helping me correct my overhead positions and build strength to protect my shoulder.

Despite the closure due to COVID, there have been great at-home WODs, accommodations to help members, and lots of extra programs for core and yoga. I'm hoping that the pandemic eases quickly so we can all get back in and keep working out because this is definitely a gym I could see myself staying at for a long time!

I have now been at CrossFit Route 7 for more than two years and with an average of three classes a week it has become a key part of my life. That’s after a lifetime of trying out and struggling to persist with various form of fitness through much of my life. I am guessing I am now at the best fitness level in my working adult life - not something I really sought out to achieve as a busy workaholic dad but a welcome development that is paying dividends in all aspects of my life.

The key undoubtedly has been CrossFit Route 7. The place has the best coaching I have ever seen, a warmly welcoming community, inspirational programming for all levels of fitness and super-efficiently run operations. I love that all I have to do it is show up and an hour later I can walk away having pushed myself to surpass personal records of strength and conditioning. The peer aspect of the class means you are always inspired to achieve more. The coaches balance their motivation with demonstration of good form and safety, meaning you don’t injure yourself.

Highly recommended. Variety of class times, great coaching, focused on strength and fitness over aesthetics, and bona fide nice people.

I was a competitive national-level taekwondo athlete in college. Unlike my peers who continued their athletic endeavors after college, for the next 10 years I turned into a workaholic who occasionally went running.

Pro tip: Don't be lazy for a decade. Re-starting your fitness in your 30s will make you wish you maintained it in your 20s.

After getting tired of using my knee injury and "Nothing will be like TKD" as an excuse, and with  encouragement from a friend, I signed up for CrossFit Route 7 about 3 months ago, and so far have only positive things to report.

- Knowledgeable coaches: They both execute AND teach correct technique, and help with weights for YOU based on your skill level. They're also very generous with their time after class and are always willing to answer questions.

- Practice makes permanent: The programming is focused on building a solid foundation of good technique and steady improvement, while staying injury free.

- All skill levels welcome: There are super fit people here who, quite frankly, are a little intimidating. There are also beginners, and everyone in between. The coaches pay equal attention to everyone during classes, and the advanced members never seem too impatient/annoyed when they end up in a class with a bunch of new people.

- Family friendly: Kids (all ages) are allowed in the gym. This is pretty uncommon in the DMV area and a really nice bonus for the gym.

- Skills clinics and yoga are included in your membership.

- They do not aggressively push you into crazy diets or scream "Paleo or die!" at you on the regular. Yes, they offer advice on nutrition but from what I've seen so far they're not super hardcore about dictating how you eat.

- Straightforward and honest about costs, billing, and the advance time you need to make changes to your membership.

JOIN CROSSFIT ROUTE 7!!!!
I joined CrossFit Route 7 January of 2018 and in just 5 short months, the coaches, workouts, and community have impacted my life more than words could properly describe. I have never been an athlete and struggled greatly trying to find a gym that could help me achieve my fitness goals. I also never really enjoyed fitness, I just knew it was something that I had to incorporate into my life. A longtime friend invited me to attend a fundamentals class at CrossFit Route 7 (thank you Jared!). After graduating from fundamentals, it took only one week of attending workouts to become addicted!!
The coaches at CrossFit Route 7 are truly exceptional and of the highest quality. Their passion and love for what they do is contagious. They genuinely care about your progress and success and are constantly watching out for correct form while pushing you to reach your fullest potential, regardless of all the times I have whined to them! They don’t let you quit and share your excitement when reaching a new PR! The community at CrossFit Route 7 is also extremely welcoming and supportive. Everyone pushes you to succeed and there is never any sham for shortcomings. Everyone is a part of the team!
Working out is no longer a chore or something I have to do. It is now something I love to do, something I can’t miss and look forward to every single day. I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to test out my body’s capabilities and to be able to see results in such a short period of time gives me the motivation to keep coming back!! I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish this without CrossFit Route 7 and look forward to see how far my athletic accomplishments can go. Thank you to the community at CrossFit Route 7, and a huge and special thanks to Coach Tucker, Coach BJ, Coach Crystal, Coach Mike, Coach Nicole, and Coach Gary!! I wouldn’t have these accomplishments and this confidence without you!!

I drop in every 2 months when in the Virginia area. Crossfit Route 7 is very well organized and the staff and community are all fantastic. Shout out to the owner and coaches (Tucker, BJ, Ashley, Nicole) for always making me feel welcomed! Go check them out you will not be disappointed!

I've tried different activities, gyms, personal trainers etc. there is nothing else that has motivated me as much as Cross Fit. The camaraderie and sense of peer motivation together with the sometimes seemingly one on one attention that BJ and Marcus give you here made me settle down at CFRT7 after trying a few other CFs. Thanks CFRT7 for helping me come closer to my goals!!

As a 43 year old, out of shape, slightly intimidated guy... I have been nervous about taking the plunge into Crossfit. I've heard horror stories, but I decided to take the leap a few weeks ago and jump in to foundations training. I didn't realize how important this was initially... but I am so glad I went through these initial 2 weeks.

Now that I am in my first official week of Crossfit... I've gotta say I am SO impressed with the people here, there honest care for their clients... and how uplifting this experience has been so far. The coaches that I have worked with have been nothing short of amazing. Ashley, BJ, and Tucker so far have been so welcoming and motivating. I actually look forward to getting worn out and tired! I feel like I am on the right path physically and mentally and I give MUCH credit to the staff here. True professionals. I have a ton to learn... and they take the time to make sure I learn it well which keeps you safe and provides the foundation to build from. If Inhad three thumbs I would give thre thumbs up... but two will have to do for now. Thanks CFR7!! You ROCK!

I've worked out off and on most of my adult life. I've done bootcamp style training, P90X and belonged to traditional gyms. However, I've always found reasons to not work out (don't have time, too much work, happy hour, golf, clients, family, etc.). After seeing an ad on Facebook, I figured why not give Crossfit Route 7 a chance.

I did.

And signed up for the long haul.

Here's 3 reasons why -

1. Welcoming atmosphere: It's a little intimidating walking into the box and watching so many people in such great shape working out. Pretty quickly, the coaching staff and other members made me feel welcome and at home.

2. WOD: Seriously. These are crazy. I know I'm going to get my butt whopped but I show up voluntarily every chance I get. I don't have to think about what to do when at the box. It's all planned out for me. The coaches keep me motivated to push and do the best I can. And unlike a traditional gym, having a group of people working out and doing the same thing is motivating for me to push harder.

3. Coaching team: I could tell from the very beginning, starting at Foundations with Tucker/Ashley/Crystal and then moving on to BJ/Nicole/Crystal, these guys really care. They care about technique just as much as they care about you not getting hurt. I've had plenty of questions over the last several months and they've been nothing but helpful.

These days, I find a reason to avoid anything else that interferes with my class time. If you are apprehensive about Crossfit or CFR7, stop by and learn more. You'll be happy you did.

I moved to the area in January and was very fortunate to find CF Rt 7. Before moving, I was a member at a great box in MA. I was very concerned that I wouldn't find what I had in MA - great coaching and a great community. After 3 months at CF Rt. 7, I'm happy to say that I don't have those concerns - I've found a very similar setting - great coaches and a great and welcoming community.

I've found it to be a great place for both experienced and new to crossfit members. Coaching is great for both. Some boxes I've visited cater to one or the other. CF Rt. 7 does a great job of balancing both. The community is welcoming and supportive.

So if you are considering crossfit as first timer or looking for a different setting as an experienced crossfitter, I'd strongly recommend CF Rt 7. I'm glad I found it.

My husband and I have been thoroughly blessed by CFR7. We are seniors who have been rehabbed and strengthened by personal coaching and the 3-4 classes we take each week. I have worked out for 3 years and my husband for 6 months. Muscle difinently makes life more stable in the physical realm! Coaches are very knowledgeable, well trained and personable. The whole box is filled with a community of really nice people as well. I highly recommend CFR7.

I have been a member of this gym for about two years now and I doubt Google will give me enough characters to write out everything that's awesome about this place.

1. The coaches. CFR7 has some amazing people getting us through some pretty killer workouts. Each coach is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and just an all around awesome person. I have learned a great deal and improved a lot in my two years here, even with previous CF experience and years of training for competitive sports.

2. The facility. The gym itself is huge and has just about everything you need for a workout. They also have an area set up with a tv for a post workout ROMWOD session if needed.

3. Schedule. Numerous time slots throughout the day to attend a WOD, as well as plenty of open gym options for accessory work (which a lot of other gyms may not have). Tucker (the owner) even added additional class times during the week recently to accommodate members. He really listens to his customers!

4. Programming. This box has athletes of every skill and fitness level, age, and size, and the programming at CFR7 aims to make sure EVERYONE is improving. Whether you are working on your first pull up, or trying to get 20 unbroken, the workouts are designed so everyone takes something away from it. The coaches really put in an effort for smart programming and not just throwing random workouts together. They want you to get strong, fit, and stay HEALTHY!

5. Community. In CF, there is a common saying "check your ego at the door", and this really shines at CFR7. There are moms, college kids, working professionals, high caliber athletes, etc, all there just to improve themselves and always willing to help out a newcomer to the gym. You will often find people hanging out after workouts, signing up for Spartan Races together, outside the gym activities and events, etc.

In conclusion, CRF7, in my opinion, exemplifies what it means to be a Crossfit gym. If you're new to the area, looking to switch to a new box, etc. I would HIGHLY recommend checking this place out. I promise you won't regret it!

Great Coaches; Community; and Facility

I travel a lot for work and have been to many CrossFit affiliates as well as my "home" box and can easily say that it's the coaches and community that makes a box great. Rest assured, this box has that in spades. This has been my home away from home box for almost a year and the 6:30 am coaches Marcus/BJ are just amazing. Always ready to help with cues and scaling to make sure your ego doesn't cause injury. Add to that the great group I work out with each weekday morning is easily the best way I can think of starting my day. The facility is spacious, lots of room for the size of classes, the addition of the showers/bathrooms is just icing on the cake for what is one of the best boxes I've been to in my travels.

I've been going here for a little over a year. I called a different CrossFit in Tysons and the person I spoke to wasn't very nice and didn't really seem interested in my questions. I decided to try out CrossFit Route 7 and BJ was very welcoming and answered my questions. All the coaches seem to care and help you if you have questions about a certain workout or how to improve. It's also nice that they have different times, depending on your schedule. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to give CrossFit a try.

This is an example of a gym firing on all cylinders. Facilities, staff, community, and programming. I dropped in from out of town and was immediately welcomed.

Classic and solid programming of skills, strength, and metabolic conditioning. Scaled for anyone but challenging for everyone.

From the board, a gym-wide goal for all members to participate in.

Well maintained equipment and stocked swag.

Start and end your search for fitness here or drop in for a friendly workout.

Let's look at this from two perspectives: a new to crossfit athlete and a crossfit fire breather.

1. New to crossfit- there is an incredibly diverse coaching staff of males and females and different skill levels. All have numerous certifications and come from different places in their fitness journey- in short you will find at least one coach that you sync really well with (if not all of them).

The community is overly accepting of new members and makes sure to greet anyone for their first workout. It wouldn't be uncommon if someone stayed after just to cheer you on through a challenging workout.

Safety has always been their number one concern. As an athlete that came off an old injury they modified all the movements so it was challenging but I never felt as if I was in a dangerous place.

2. For the fire breathers (familiar with crossfit): All the equipment is brand. Spanking. New. New plates, bars, rings, rig, wall balls, heck even the mop and clean buckets are brand new.

All of the coaches are active crossfit atheltes in the area including: Superfit athletes (scaled and rx), an HQ seminar staff member of Crossfit National, and local throwdown participants in the area.

The programming is done purposely with an end in mind. Every wod/strength is part of a cycle and there is a logical progression for every day, week, and month.

Regardless of the level you start at, this is an incredible Box. Give the first workout a shot and see for yourself.

Started crossfit a little less than a year ago. Couldn't be happier with this box and my decision to become a member. An amazing community of top notch coaches, motivated members and elite equipment. You will be excited to come every day and get that adrenaline pump! Don't waste any more time at a commercial gym. Crossfit Route 7 is going to be your new favorite spot to hit those goals!

This place is the best. Seriously. The space is large and clean, plus the equipment is all well maintained. The coaching staff is top-notch. They care about your improvement, your well being, and most importantly, your safety and health. If you want to try CrossFit, and you are in the area, this should be the place you start your journey.

Great atmosphere for all fitness types. I got tired of the commercial gym scene and wanted to give crossfit a try. I hit a home run with CrossFit Route 7 and have been going 4-5 times a week. I highly recommend giving CrossFit a try and when you do, be sure to give Route 7 a try. Oh and I forgot to mention, the equipment and space is by farrrrrr the best I have ever seen. Coaches are great too!

Been CFing for 10 years, did Lvl 1 cert in 2009, have my own garage box at my house in FL...this is the first box I have ever wanted to fully commit to as a member. Tucker(owner), BJ(head coach/manager), Marcus(coach), Matt(coach)and the athletes- place is awesome and embodies everything the CF community is truly about. If you want to experience pure and awesome CF which will improve every aspect of your life- physically and mentally- this is the place.
Thanks for the opportunity to be better CrossFit Route 7!

Excellent coaches. Friendly members. Great community. CFR7 recently moved to a bigger and better space in the same complex. I wanted to try Xfit for a while, but was intimidated. No longer. The people at CFR7 are encouraging, experienced, and promote achievement of each individual's goals. Love this place!!!

It may be odd that I open a review by saying that I'm a business professional, because that has nothing to do with a gym, right? Well, quite the opposite, actually. When you walk into a place of business -in this case a gym- and you feel welcomed by professionals and motivated by the staff and the environment they've created there, you realize that their establishment is more than just a 'gym.' While the end game may be to successfully complete a hellish WOD or PR a big lift, the real value here comes from: consistent programming (posted nightly to the website), GREAT (educated, safe, experienced) coaching staff, a clean and spacious facility, every man rooting for one another and for some, like me, the ability to feel a chaotic work week become just a little less stressful in knowing that this place is open and running smoothly whenever I need to drop in. I've been a member at a handful of area fitness facilities; this is truly the first one that I'm excited to join and feel like I could recommend to anyone I know.
