Great atmosphere, very clean and a variety of equipment-from free weights, resistance machines, calisthenics equipment, carido equipment and a sauna. This gym has something for everyone whether beginner or expert. Not to mention a variety of classes free of cost with certain membership that all are very cost effective. If you are looking for something more personal they have a variety of personal trainers that will tailor a workout plan to help you achieve your desired fitness goals.

GREAT facility! You can see the staff actively cleaning as you’re working out, the bathrooms are clean and the staff greet you as soon as you walk in and when you leave they say their goodbyes.
Personal trainers are good people and are there to help.
Very welcoming, nice gym community of people & awesome workout equipment as well as different types of memberships with prices that are good for everyone.
Would for sure recommend this gym to a friend! Awesome place.

10/10 staff. In terms of personnel training they are problem solvers of money is the issue they can work with it, if your schedule is packed, they are flexible, and if you have trainer preferences, they have no problem making the necessary arrangements. Just know that if you want a trainer they are not here to baby you. They are here to help you achieve the goals you lay before them.

They fire the best trainer. The manger gave my sister hard time had us waiting for iver 30 minutes just to fix a mistake he did. Looking like sonic with the whisker. Where the hot water? Why they closed at 11 pm if its says 12 pm. Is really 24 hrs? sink in the right never works and girls restroom. And last time I try to shower only cold water? Management is rude

Best gym in Hampton Roads, super clean, front desk staff is amazing, the Asst. GM Toni is always super helpful with any questions I have. I completed a CrunchOne Kickoff with the Personal Training Director, Taylor today. Such a great experience, very personable, and I learned a lot from it. Highly recommended

Where to begin,as a bigger guy (28yo male, 5’9 305lbs) this gym has completely changed my outlook on fitness, from the state of the art equipment, quality amenities, and dedicated personal trainers, I have undergone a strong mental shift, allowing me to see/feel the results that I have been chasing for so long with other fitness clubs. The accountability from my trainers (I work with 3 different professionals) is exactly what I needed being new, and sticking true, to my fitness goals, and the progress that I’ve seen I just two short months, in terms of both weight loss/muscle increase has exceeded expectations, and been fun throughout, with the ever changing workouts, that have me leaving fulfilled everytime. One of the best takeaways from this journey, has been the knowledge I’ve gained from working with my trainers, have improved me to being able to start self led workouts, which is the ultimate goal, to where I leave after a solo session with the same fulfillment as I would working with a trainer. Also can’t beat sauna time after a solid workout, leaving with my shirt drenched is the way to go. Kids crunch (gym daycare) is also massively convenient, as a single father, working a full time job! 10/10 would recommend to anyone, new or experienced to come check them out!

I’ll be honest. They aren’t making a great first impression. When you sign up for a membership, you are required to pay for a crunch one lift off where a trainer will help you make fitness goals. I paid for this, and requested a female trainer due to my ptsd with domestic violence. I showed up to my scheduled time, the trainer never showed. So I rescheduled. I showed up again and the trainer never showed again. So the staff rescheduled me with someone else. That day came and I happen to be sick so I called in the morning apologizing and asking to reschedule. They told me the trainer would reach out to me. I waited two weeks and the trainer never reached out. So I went back to the front desk over the weekend and told them what happened. They wrote down my information and promised I would hear from them by the end of the day. Now two more days have passed and still no one has reached out. This is very discouraging as they told me this is something you are required to pay for when signing up.

This gym would be the perfect gym if they didn’t remind you like 0 times when they close , I hope management take this to consideration and just tell the staff with 1 reminder will be ok

Do not sign up here! They make it super easy to sign up, yet difficult to cancel. You can easily sign up online, but want to cancel? Better carve some time out of your day to go there in person. Funny how that works, huh? Ridiculous.

Whoever is going to join this gym please be careful I just started with them and every time they charge me extra money then I been told i haven’t even complete my first month and they charged me over 60$ plus my monthly fee and when I called them they said it’s charges for everybody but they didn’t mention that before I joined which is weird and when I went to cancel my membership they charged me again for extra month and I feel that’s a big scam so please ladies & gentlemen be careful !!!!!

Do not sign up for this gym. They will charge you $83 annual fee and make it very hard to cancel and you will not get your money back. You are better off going to ONELIFE or another gym. Again, let this be your warning this is a BASIC gym LOCKING you into a contract with them when you sign on. Avoid at ALL costs. Not to mention supplies around the gym are rarely supplied and I don’t see them cleaning, ever. I will be in later to cancel.

Employees do not clean the equipment or refill spray bottles and paper towels for customer use. The seated leg curl and horizontal calf press machines have been broken for over a month. Membership costs range from $10 to $35 per month, plus a $92 annual maintenance fee. I’ll be returning to OneLife instead.
I have pictures and yes this is the Portsmouth location.

Gym goers and military members beware. I signed an agreement with Crunch Fitness in April prior to its opening. The gym kept delaying the opening until July 31. In the meantime, I was tasked with a military deployment. I called the gym to cancel my membership and was told that I must come in-person to cancel and promised I would not incur any charges. That was a lie. Upon my return, I went into Crunch Fitness for the first time and provided management with my orders and my reason for canceling. As of today, I have been charged over $200. Management continues to be hard to reach and refuses to refund the money. Please do not become a member of this gym, especially if you are in the military.

This PLACE IS HORRIBLE … ALREADY YES , ALL THE GOOD REVIEWS COME FROM THEM OFFERING DEALS WHEN YOU SIGN UP TO LEAVE A GOOD REVIEW . They HORRIBLE AND IN PORTSMOUTH . Know how that go . Very rude and unprofessional, THEY GYM WAS HALF OPEN , CAME TO AN APPOINTMENT THEY CANCELED (Everybody know it takes a lot to make it to the gym) so to get turned down the first appointment because they wasn’t completely opened as promised was very disappointing and mind changing , THEY WILL CHARGE YOU IMMEDIATELY, They had too many fake perks for it to be true .. Again Portsmouth do yall thang 🤭

Absolutely fantastic as expected for a new gym. Love the equipment, personnel, & sauna. However, my only complaint is they don’t have hot water in the showers now -uncertain what happened between when they opened and now but showering with cold water is uncomfortable. Hopefully this gets fixed because I got straight to work from my workouts and must shower :-/

I’ve been loving my experience at crunch, I love the fact that I can get like triple what I get at other gyms for less. I’ve been training with Sophie for some knee pain and rehabilitation type stuff after hurting my knee years ago. This is like the first time ever being able to actually be consistent in the gym for me because my pain is reducing!! Can’t recommend enough 🫶
My Experience with Sophie:
We did a quick consult the first day and she asked about my goals and what I thought was inhibiting them. Then we did some workouts for her to gauge what was going on, afterwards she designed me a plan for my first four weeks it was lower weight, and more focused on my rehabilitation and knee health, and then week three she asked me how it was going and reworked my plan to help me continue to grow in my goals. Super informative, listens to client, can like actually read my body language when working out so she adjusts the weights like perfectly, and actually listens to my preferences and such for example I prefer using free weights for upper body, and she moved around my plan to accommodate that) can’t say enough good about my experience
Quick overview of what you get for literally 30 dollars: classes, full use of the gym (super clean and 24 hours through the weekdays) + the tanning and massage things if you use those AND you get to bring a guest if you want! There’s childcare too!!

If you say it’s 24/7 then it needs to be open 24/7 not 24/5, not 5am-11pm, need to do a key fob for 24hrs some want to get in and train before the rush. Other than that still a great facility. Need 140lbs dumbbells

I gave it two stars because I had at least 3 good class workouts in the past two months. My husband and I only signed up because of the classes offered but the classes didn't officially start until a month after signing up and that was just a "pop up" class. Tobe honest, I don't think this location is prepared. They should have a team from another store that has been in operation come help them for 90 days or so. The children's area has a nice staff but it always smells like urine as soon as you walk in. In a newly built gym, thats crazy. The bathroom is not kid friendly and its not very clean every time I go in there, which is every time I come in. I take my three children into the bathroom to wash their hands before we leave and the faucet never works correctly so I'm pretty sure every kid is not properly washing their hands. My youngest (who doesn't attend any daycare or school) contracted hand, foot and mouth. I cant definitely say it came from there but the last time we were there it was overcrowded and she got sick about two days later. I haven't been back since. The childrens area is shut down for several hours during the day, so why not do a major cleaning before the 4pm shift. I've been to that section in the morning and evening and its still the same. A strong urine smell. And speaking of faucets, the faucets in the adult bathroom is also faulty which is extremely bad in a gym. Can you say MRSA? I brought some of these things to the attention of young lady who is the GM in the evening and she said she would address the issue. Being that I love to stay active I really hoped this gym would workout for my husband and I but it doesn't look promising. When signing up as a "Founding Member", I explained to the young man that the classes and the children's area were the selling point for us and personally I feel its not worth it. I wish this gym the best in the future because I am a resident of Portsmouth and I think this gym will be a good look for the city but its going to take every one of those twenty plus people standing at the front desk to come together and want excellence for their new store. Much success but i have to respectfully terminate my membership.

Seems to be more of a superficial tripod gym. Ive notice alot of Ego Lifters, onelife fitnes transfers and just Overly crowded in certain areas, Trainers seem to be intimidated by physically fit people, which is weird, I've notice this twice on 2 different occasions. I was a bit uncomfortable working out at this gym, i did not attend the gym during my normal gym time which is 2-5am 6 days a week 3 hrs pd. Seem to get super packed around 9am on weekends, from the feel of the gym i Dont think this gym can accommodate my work style. I will definitely try the one opening in norfolk but from what I have seen and experience in portsmouth so far, this is not the gym for me. Other than that the gym is clean and nice.

I signed up two weeks ago if that and I wanted to change my membership. I went in today to change my membership and I was told I could but it would be a 20.00 fee. I told them to just cancel my membership because why should I have to pay a fee to change a membership that I only had for two weeks if that. I only been in there twice since I signed up. I was explained all the perks but never was told about fees if changing a membership. I understand a fee if canceling but not changing. The manager could have just waived the fee but instead she rather lose a customer. She was very nasty. I ask her for corporate phone number because I really didn't want to cancel my membership I just wanted the fee waived. When I ask her for corporate phone number she told me to googled it and dismiss me. She was very unprofessional and the advertising is misleading. If you gone inform us of all the perks and one month free why not warn us about fees and things of that nature if you want to change or cancel membership. So now I have to pay 60.00 because I cancel my membership and remind you I only set foot in there twice and I just signed up not that to long ago. I was very excited The same day I just went out to buy a lock and everything for the lockers gone to get treated the way I did.

The worst experience EVER! I paid up front $525 for training that I only received 2 days out of the 20. When I spoke to Training Director on phone I was rudely spoken too. The trainer cancelled constantly. And I have all the text messages for cancellation. I went to speak to someone several times. I was told no refund and only thing I can receive is another trainer. I stated no because the customer service was very unacceptable. So why should I continue after 3 weeks only 2 days I received out of the 15 days of training. When I asked for franchisee contact information only given name is of company. I knew that the Training Director did not want me to have number in fear of me making them aware of his behavior. Very disappointed just going to take it as a loss & move on. Customer service is key. But Aaron (GM) was very helpful that is how I was able to speak to Training Director after several attempts.

They were supposed to have an open house this weekend to tryout their facility. No membership, no pressure according to their Facebook post. I showed up, did not seem like the people working their knew what I was talking about when I said I was there for the open house. I got a tour and a sales pitch I didn't want(i had already done the research online), and when I went to workout I was called back over to the counter. The staff did offer a day pass, but by that point I was just done.
Advertisement did not reflect reality, I was annoyed and disappointed.
Gym looked nice, new equipment and everything, they just opened.

Absolutely love Crunch Portsmouth!
The strength training equipment here is top-notch, with a great variety—especially for lower body workouts. There are always machines available, and everything is kept in excellent condition. The facility is impressively clean, and the staff are not only friendly but consistently hard-working. Every time I’m in, I see team members actively helping members or cleaning—it’s clear they care about the environment they’re creating.
After 10 years at OneLife Chesapeake Square, making the switch to Crunch was the best decision. Unlike OneLife, where staff (including the new manager) would often stand around while equipment went uncleaned and paper dispensers sat empty, Crunch Portsmouth is the complete opposite. Equipment here is well-maintained, cables aren’t sticky, and the gym overall feels like a place where people take pride in what they do.
Couldn’t be happier with the change. Highly recommend Crunch Portsmouth to anyone serious about a clean, welcoming, and well-equipped gym!
