The studio is out of business and closed til further notice? Ridiculous. Yogis and cross fit practitioners are out thousands of dollars in membership fees. Teachers left without their jobs and paychecks theyre owed. What a sham.

I stopped practicing at Dancing Mind Yoga when the ownerβs objectives so obviously reflected her self needs rather than the clients seeking peace and a healthy fitness routine. Now, Iβm hearing that sheβs shut down the studio, fired her awesome instructors without notice or due pay, and has not refunded those who have prepaid for memberships. If this place ever opens again, do yourself a favor - go elsewhere.

I started visiting Dancing Mind Yoga studio in 2010, before they opened their amazing BIG studio. I was going through tough times and this was amazing. I haven't done yoga before and I was kind of uneasy about it, not for long. I met amazing teachers and studio owner Paula.
Paula has amazing coaching powers and will dig deep to get you to your A game. She is my Tony Robbins of YOGA. Because without pain is no gain. Beside this I did couple of their workshops. My favorite was yoga yin with Heather and 40 days challenge. I didn't last 40 days yet! :) As they say: "life is a journey" and life with yoga is better life. Namaste :)

UPDATE 3/11/2019: Highly NOT recommended. So disappointed! In the month since my last update and conversation with Paula, she cancelled a VERY well-liked class after attempting to move it to an entirely unsuitable room and failed to restore comparable classes for other cancellations. Bottom line to me: DM went from classes that met my schedule and interests five out of seven days a week to just two. That's not what I expect with a full-access membership. As of today, I requested cancellation of my membership and a prorated refund of my membership fee. DM not only no longer offers what I need, but Paula hasn't shown me (or other members) she is interested in keeping our business.
UPDATE 2/14/2018: I had a good conversation with Paula today. She was open to feedback, acknowledged what needs work, and shared that she's working on it, and that as a small business (without the backing of a bigger company or franchise), she welcomes the feedback and support of the DM membership. For our part as members, we need to let her know what is and isn't working.
Dancing Mind was on a good track through 2017 and 2018. However, now it seems she's committed to being on a "hot" track and has replaced all early morning classes with heated versions, which is not what I signed up AND renewed for. Time to find another studio.

Iβve been a member for over a year. Iβm active with yoga and CrossFit here. All of the instructors are great and really make an effort to get to know you and help you improve. Itβs also easy to sign up for classes in advance. Lastly the owner and the managers are always open to feedback and addressing any concerns you may have. I recommend checking them out.

I have been to at least ten yoga studios in the DMV and Dancing Minds is my favorite! There is a nice welcoming environment and sense of community. I had never done Baptiste yoga before, but this method seems to focus on all of the most important parts of yoga (in my opinion). The instructors have also been great and motivational. Can't recommend this studio enough!

I enjoy the classes at Dancing Mind Yoga because they are both predictable and unpredictable. The technique and method is there yet, each instructor adds his/her own flavor to each class. The classes are both invigorating and challenging, as well as calming and relaxing.

I felt super welcomed despite having no prior experience attending a yoga class. I attended the cyling, power yoga, and yoga sculpt classes and felt so good after all of them. I like that there are many different types of classes which keeps it interesting. The instructors I experienced were very motivating. The place itself is so nice and clean. Definitely would recommend.

Never was able to appreciate yoga or feel welcomed to the practice before joining Dancing Mind. Truly a warm and supportive staff - would recommend to ANYONE. They are able to work with people of all skill levels and have challenged me mentally and physically. 10/10.

Love this studio. Just got back into yoga and the instructors teach to all levels and keep it serious but fun. Heated room means you get in a great sweat, too. Big fan.

I'm new to Dancing Mind, partly because I have been hesitant to try yoga since I've never participated in any formal training. The staff at Dancing Mind are so kind, understanding and accommodating! I so should have tried it sooner. The studio alone is really cozy and gives off a very positive, non-pretentious vibe. I can't wait to further my practice with their support!

I recently fell back in love with Baptiste yoga, largely due to my experience at Dancing Mind. The teachers are great; I've had classes with several of them and enjoyed each one. The studio never feels over crowded and everyone is very welcoming. I only take the yoga classes, but the variety of other classes that they offer is very cool and encourages you to integrate a variety of yoga and fitness disciplines. They are also always holding really interesting workshops around wellness. I highly encourage anyone interested in yoga - at all levels - to try Dancing Mind. Baptiste yoga is a game changer.

My home away from home . . .
Dancing Mind is conveniently located close to my home and work so I go here twice a day for yoga, crossfit, and occasionally spin and yin yoga.
The teachers are amazing! Barbara is super friendly and her classes are high energy! Bill is also friendly and very grounded! Not only is Allie friendly, she is funny! Chuck has gotten me to do things in crossfit I never imagined I could do - banded pull-ups and over coming my fear of being upside down for inverted abs (I hated it but did it!)
While the prices may seem high at first, if you think about what you would pay separately for a crossfit gym and a yoga studio, it is an amazing deal - especially if you pay for 6 months in advance.
The instructors and facilities are great (I love their showers!). While its not perfect, you figure out what classes work for you and what instructors you like. Oh and it is hot Baptiste yoga (94-96 degrees) so dress appropriately and teachers rarely demo so be prepared to go with the flow :)
Hope to see you in class soon! (I am the noisy one :)

I attended a free crossfit class at the Dancing Mind Yoga crossfit box. It is convenient to both where I work and where I live, so I wanted to check it out as I am shopping for a new CF home. The facility is absolutely gorgeous. Nice bathrooms, lots of lockers, and a reception area. The box itself is very small (we had about 9-10 people in the class and we barely had enough room), but clean and well organized. When I walked in, the coach saw me and said "are you new?", introduced himself, and then asked "have you done this [gestures to white board] before?" I told him "yes" because I wasn't sure if he was referring to CF or the workout. After that, he made no effort to introduce me to the class or gain any knowledge about me as an athlete. It was also a weird class for me because other crossfitters kept joining the workout throughout the warm up and set up. I wasn't sure who was actually participating in the workout, or just watching. During the warm up, I explained I had an injury. The coach responded with "you won't be able to do the workout" instead of providing modifications. I ended up having to modify the workout myself. He provided no movement instruction or modifications for anyone else in the class either. I was grateful that I already knew the movements and how to scale them. At the end of the workout the coach made a comment about how my scaling choices made the workout "easier" when someone else asked about the workout. This was very frustrating and upsetting for me because in my old CF community we considered every workout that was attempted a "good" workout. I felt extremely demoralized that the coach considered my scaling options too easy. In summary, I did not feel that DMY provided a supportive community, and I won't be returning for crossfit.

I have a mixed review for this studio. I have been practicing for a number of years at various studios and the classes at Dancing Mind are very formulaic but consistently challenging. Instructors vary somewhat in intensity, pace and order, but generally you are doing the same thing every class. This is not the studio for a drop in, since their drop in fees are excessive. The packages are more reasonable, but if you take a hiatus, the savings may not be worth it. The instructors are friendly and helpful and often there are assistants that help you to adjust the poses for your needs. However, the owner, Paula, is abrasive and seems to feel that students are just not doing their best. On one occasion, a new student quietly left in the middle of class. She was stopped by Paula just outside of class. A few minutes later, Paula ushered her back into the room while we were all posed in "Warrior 2" facing the door. Paula loudly asked the class how many others felt like throwing up. At that point, she insisted that the girl continue the class and take a "Child's Pose" if she should feel sick again. Shouldn't it be up to the yogi to decide how much or little effort to expend? The poor girl was clearly horrified and embarrassed. In another recent class that Paula was not teaching, she came into the class at the end and told everyone to raise their hands since some people had not signed up in advance. She read each name and after the name was called, the individual was permitted to leave. Fortunately I had signed up so I avoided the humiliation and reprimand but many of us were dismayed by her approach. I certainly understand the need to run a business and not be cheated out of revenue, but there should be a better way. The bottom line is, the classes are predictable and challenging, but do your best to avoid Paula.

This studio is home away from home! Really inspirational staff and such a welcoming vibe across all the classes offered. I get especially excited about the workshops they offer. With yoga, crossfit, and cycle offered, it truly is a full mind-body experience

I am exceedingly frustrated and disappointed with this studio. Overall I enjoyed the classes, but the customer service was extremely lacking in information. I walked in on a weekday at lunch time hoping to take a yoga class, and was told that I could do a free week and 30 days for 30 dollars. It was not explained to me that it was an either or scenario. I did almost the full free week and then since I really like it decided to try the 30 days for 30 dollars which would give me plenty of time to try a lot of different classes. No one explained to me upon registering that the $30 would be taken from my first yoga class taken during that free week. I walked in a week later looking forward to start my 30 days only to be told that it had already started during my free week. No apologies were made. I promptly asked for a refund and walked out. I don't care how good the classes may be; if the sales reps can't even explain how a promotion works this is not the studio for me.

Having not practiced yoga except for doing occasional prenatal yoga during my two pregnancies, I began at Dancing Mind when my youngest was 3-Almost a year ago. I was welcomed with open arms and have always felt encouraged. I find that there is a great variety of instructors and I always find one that fits my "mood" for that day. The power sculpt classes allow me to help maintain my strength using weights and integrating cardio with yoga all in only 45minutes. I believe it is a great class to take in between All Levels classes and Power Hours. The staff and instructors are extremely positive, as well as helpful. I still consider myself a novice, but am so grateful that I have joined this place. I have not used the showers, but the new facilities are look great. I encourage anyone to just try it for a week!

I don't live in the D.C. Area but was excited to find a hot vinyasa flow class near my hotel! Ive been practicing for 3 years at a hot studio and love it! The class i took is not for babies. It's very fast and the instructor seemed to be more of a drill sergeant than a yogi. I enjoyed it but I enjoy focusing on my alignment and my breathes. This class was so fast it was difficult to do both. On a high note...I know my butt cheeks will be burning tomorrow. Oh yeah... No music.... They played a little at the end. Oh and no mirrors in the studio... And the receptionist was unfriendly. So just okay.
