Beautiful YMCA on the Dan River. They do not offer a single day pass if you are visiting. So you will need to look for other options. I was forced to buy a week pass to use the pool once.

Dont ever leave reviews but just went into this YMCA to purchase a guest day pass and the front desk said that they don’t do that there. Somehow different than every other YMCA in the country I guess. Wouldnt be so bad if they didn’t have attitude about it like I was an idiot for asking.

I’ve had my Y membership for years. Also had a membership as a child through my family for years. Is there any particular reason why I have been to this YMCA multiple times since I moved to town, and even asked if I needed to switch my membership over to them, they said no, and I’ve been Coming every day since I moved. Until today. Can anyone answer as to why for the first time and over a 10 year plus membership to the Y I need to present my ID? Yes I was looking very homely today, my heat went out last night and my water went out and it’s 13°. I wanted to shower. So why was I turned down? Membership is good, I was there yesterday with no issues. Why was I not allowed to enter today?

The Y has lots of classes to choose from, a nice indoor track, and an excellent pool. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. The water aerobics classes are my favorite... They are not your grandma's water aerobics!
The locker room and steam room are nice as well.
I've found the machines in the workout area are not "extra fluffy" person friendly, which was disappointing.
Also, the handicap ramp into the building is difficult to navigate if you have any mobility issues. You get an extra workout on the way into the building.

It’s a spacious Y and they have everything you need. The views are a plus! The 2 things I don’t appreciate is how dirty some areas are. They have the cleaning spray with napkins but I think they should bring in some wipe stations as well so it’s easier to clean the machines. The other thing is I wish they had 24 hour access since it’s in a good sized location.

Our family has been a member of the YMCA for the last 28 years and loves it, dating back to the previous building on Main Street. We use the facility 4 to 5 times weekly. Incredibly friendly staff. Recent equipment upgrades. Very high standards of cleanliness. Beautiful location on the Dan River that is adjacent to the Riverwalk.

Excellent site! The facilities are LOVELY. The view of the river (and downtown across it) from where you find the exercise machines and weights (2nd floor) is gorgeous. The delightful and well chlorinated indoor pool is one of my favorite things in Danville. Even the massage therapist who works in the building is excellent.

You will not get your money’s worth out if this program. Unfortunately, Danville has limited swimming options.There is no swim curriculum-it appears as if the instructors have no training. Your kids get max 10 minutes of swim time because they only work with them 1:1–and they just sit and wait the rest of the time. It’s chaotic as the kids are all so bored and unsupervised. They have multiple (4-5) other lifeguards/instructors on duty at that time and the pool is closed, but usually just one teaches and the others just sit around and chat—they do not talk to the kids or help. We paid for private lessons but it took them 8 weeks to set them up and the girl cancelled and changed the time a lot. The childcare doesn’t involve any physical activity—it’s just focused on homework. The facility is dirty—they never clean behind or above any of the equipment-it’s covered in dust and spider webs. They would not do our orientation or free physical training that is offered with membership.

I had to personally go in to sign a paper to cancel membership… Still charged my bank account 1 month and 2 weeks after canceling my membership… I don’t get it… why do I have to rely on an unreliable paper trail for someone to hopefully see my cancellation form and do their job?

I went to tour this facility and the view inside and out was simply scenic on the lake, very beautiful. The YMCA had good customer service, staff professional and prepared with sufficient answers to my questions. Folks looked happy to work it! I did get an application and will give this place a try. 4 stars for presentations and delivery! 5 stars when l start AND know that everything l saw at the tour was the real deal!!!
