Good classes, lots of time options, and engaged coaches. Their new building is a big upgrade but there are some misses - the viewing windows are too high so you can't see out of them when sitting and they're small so most of the seats can't see in. Also, the door between the lobby/viewing area and the gym is way to heavy. Kids struggle to open it and I constantly am scared little fingers are going to get smooshed. Unfortunate oversights considering a lot of gyms are usually really open viewing areas. Also no photos or videos allowed? I know privacy is important, but the fact I can't barely see my kid, there's not much room for others to come watch, and I can't send a few photos feels weird.

Transition between the classes (timeslots) are worst. Thereβs a higher possibility that your kid will get lost if youβre not around the door. Very over crowded and no sitting area for parents.

My daughters have been Xcel team gymnasts here and are going into their 3rd season with DGA. While I cannot comment on beginner classes, I will say we absolutely love the Xcel program. The coaches, Erin (also the gym manager) and Melissa care about these girls tremendously and put so much of themselves into this gym. They are responsive, organized and communicate so well with parents. While they have likely the largest Xcel program in the area, it feels personalized and they know my girls and work with them to overcome obstacles. Floor routines across the program are individualized for each gymnast and the gym does phenomenal in the meets. My girls have been successful at the meets as well as personally successful against their own goals. DGA is a second home for my kids and their coaches are surrogate family, providing my girls empathy and tough love depending on what they need in that moment. An added bonus is the flexible scheduling which allows for practice options 5 days a week across levels. So great for multiple sport kids, working parents, etc. Like anything else, relationships take time but we have developed such great relationships and friendships through DGA and are very thankful we found them!

My daughter took a beginner class and kept complaining that the teacher was mean and yelled at them. Parents are not allowed anywhere near the gym floor but there are monitors and I saw her scrolling on her phone DURING THE CLASS.

My daughter moved to Dulles Gymnastics from Dynamite in Bethesda as we recently moved. She had an awful experience, the teacher Ms Erica was very hard on her and there was no patience for her as beginner. She left in tears all 3X she attended. She said the teacher would get frustrated with the girls who couldn't "keep up" with the class and yell.."can someone else teach them, I don't have time for this" and move on to other girls. After the 3rd class, the teacher approached me mom in a public area with strangers to talk to me about my daugher, shaming her publicly about her lack of ability to catch on and needing to move her to a different level class. By the way, she was moved to this class by the same organization 2 weeks ago. There is lack of professionalism, lack of interest in the growth of the kids and not a place my child could thrive in. As a person of color, she was asked multiple times why she had braids and made her feel very uncomfortable. We withdrew from the school immediately and will not advice anyone with a child who is a beginner and genuinely want to enjoy recreational gymnastics to go here.

Where do I begin? You walk in to a filthy atmosphere, from the musky air, to the stained carpet and chairs that after sitting in make you want to take a shower and wash your clothes. Its not just gym smell, it is a musky, moldy smell and dated and dirty place.
Still, I decided to give it a chance. Not after tonight, after they had my 7 year old, IEP daughter in tears after her 6th beginner class. Very upsetting to watch, as she was so excited to go to gymnastics class. Her main goal was to learn a cartwheel. I watched on the tv screen, as you are not allowed to watch from the same room, as one of the old ladies that obviously are in no shape to perform any gymnastics themselves was trying to get my daughter to do a handstand, when we haven't even achieved a forward roll yet. She had not worked with her before, and obviously oblivious to her skill level. She had her doing some push up type exercise with her feet on a rolling mat and turned and ignored her for nearly 10 minutes as I watched on the screen and finally got up and moved to where i could see she was crying. Another instructor was the one that finally noticed and came over to her. Only then did the other lady acknowledge her.
At the end of class, my daughter came running out crying and then the woman came out and tried to cover. I said I know exactly what happened as I saw on the screen and then I walked over and saw with my own eyes you were not paying a bit of attention to her attempting what she was doing non stop, over and over, as your back was turned away from her the whole time and it took another instructor coming over for her to acknowledge. At that point she starts rolling her eyes and attacking my 7 year old saying she has a negative attitude saying I can't I can't I can't.. Just a negative attitude.
No lady, she was trying and trying. The only one with a negative attitude was you. There is something called Positive Reinforcement, and the instructors there should be trained to encourage and not put down children. Obviously it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize if one can not do a forward roll yet, one probably can not do a hand stand. It does however, take common sense, which she was obviously lacking.
I will not be bringing my daughter back to such a negative place with such nasty bitter old women and such horrible negative attitudes towards children.
Don't just pick this place because it is the closest to you or they pay for top Google search placement. Check out a few places. Drive an extra five minutes. Don't make the same mistake we did..

My daughter has disliked all the coaching skills and people around this gym. She has come home crying to me multiple times, I will not tolerate that. The staff here are very unorganized and always chatting. To anyone reading this I would check out other gyms around Chantilly, Apex, 360igym, Hope gymnastics etc are a way better option.

This gym is not safe for young beginner gymnasts! Some of the teachers are not attentive to their students. They allow them to do dangerous skills left unattended. Teachers are chatting instead of teaching.

Their team coaches are too busy bickering and fighting with each other (often in front of kids) to realize that they are hurting the kids they claim to be there for. If a mistake is made, the coaches are too busy passing the buck to own up to what they did; the manager will apologize but none of the coaches will because it is evident that they don't care who gets hurt, so long as they come out unscathed. Rec coaches are good and fight for the kids but no one at that gym cares to listen to what they say. Truly disappointed with this gym!!

They really don't know how to give good costumer service and the teacher seems to have her attention on specific favorite ones.
Also it smells terribly like feet.
I understand they are barefoot all the time but they should clean the training area.
