We absolutely love this swim school! The teachers, especially Gideon, Maher, and Melanie are incredibly patient, kind, and truly care about the kids. It’s always such a positive experience — my children look forward to their swim lessons every single week.
The bathrooms are always clean, the showers have warm water and shampoo/body wash, blow dryers work and everything is so well maintained. The front desk staff are super welcoming and helpful every time we come in.
Most importantly, the swim teachers are amazing! My kids really enjoy learning with them and have made so much progress while having fun. We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend this swim school to everyone.

We have been coming to this location for at least a year. My children love going to swim class. My son and I attend family swim almost every week which is an hour of free swim from 12-1pm. They have family swim every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you go to family swim on Friday evenings, there’s a small fee.
My children have definitely improved their swimming skills. My daughter is a confident swimmer and these past months, my son has improved so much and moved up several levels. Coach Gideon is very patient and has the skills to teach young children. W love him!
They have plenty of changing rooms (although they could add more big rooms), several bathrooms with showers and plenty of chairs for parents so they can watch their children swim. However, it is very packed during evening swim class during the week. It can feel crowded. I take my son during the day and it’s so nice because there are only 3-5 families.
There’s parking but if you are running late you may need to park a little further from the door. There’s also a lot of small snacks for sale, coffee and extra swimsuits and googles if you need to purchase.
All in all, it is a pleasant location and all the staff have been so kind and helpful.

My child has completed all the levels at Goldfish, from the very first stage to the final one, over the past three years. The instructors were incredibly kind, great with kids, and played a huge role in helping my child learn to swim. Thank you so much for everything, Goldfish!

I have a 4 year old and 2 year old in separate classes here and I have been so impressed by the staff’s enthusiasm and professionalism. Gideon is an awesome and enthusiastic teacher and both my kids feed off of his joy - they are growing tremendously in 1.5 months of classes. Serena is always upbeat and very kind in helping my 2 yr old focus and obey pool safety rules (quite a feat). Tommy stepped in as a great substitute when teachers were transitioning…and when my daughter graduated to the next level, the whole team made it a big deal and congratulated her by name. It’s an environment where I feel my kids are learning and having fun with people I now trust.

My son was in the water 2x for <5 minutes each time in a 30 min class totaling less than 10 minutes of instruction (only one other child was present). No skills were taught in the mini3 class, he basically sat in her arms the entirety of the time he was in the water. I reached out about it and they were very unhelpful about what happened. Will try elsewhere.
Clean facilities, some teachers looked very engaged.

Our family loves everything about Goldfish Swim School. The facility is great. The desk staff are great. Our son's many instructors over the past 7 months have been supportive, kind, and effective. And over these 7 months, our son has gone from fearful and anxious around water to being a confident happy swimmer, having advanced from Glider 1 to Glider 2, Glider 3 and is now refining his new skills in Pro 1. What more could we ask for? We're thrilled with his progress. Thank you Goldfish Swim School!

My kid has been promoted to the Swim Force class, but this center does not have the capacity to provide Swim Force classes. Therefore, I asked them to cancel our membership since they can't provide the classes. They state that I need to provide a 30-day notice for cancellation. If Goldfish can't provide the class that my kid needs, why would they still want us to pay for an extra month of the notice period? It's ridiculous.

My son was in this swim school for over a year and still doesn't know how to swim. I paid $1400 for nothing. They just teach how to get in and out of the pool. Which I thought was good at first but I feel they spent to much time on just that. Then they would teach them how to do different rolls and things like that. I just want them to teach him how to get from one side to the other. I don't need all the dramatics.
It's funny how on every negative review they can't seem to find any history. As if people are just coming on here making up stories. That right there says a lot about management!

Management is highly professional and was very helpful when we had to take a tough decision. Even though there is a one month notice period, they were ready to accept withdrawal when we told our issue. My daughter loved the time at Goldfish swim school and after joining here, she started showing interest towards swimming and towards learning more strokes. She was at a different swim school earlier and she couldn’t stand going for swimming. She hated it so much! Thank you Goodfish swim school. All her trainers were wonderful and so dedicated towards teaching the kids. Place is kept so clean and tidy. My daughter will miss this place badly.

We have been with this gym for 2 years, enrolled both kids for their weekly classes. They usually have long waitlist for certain levels for certain times, we chose to stay here even the available times are not the most ideal for my kids because they are kind of familiar with the teachers. So consequently they have some make-up classes, but we CAN’t use them because we are one day late to schedule those classes (because we cancel the regular classes as we will be out of town the whole next month, and I don’t want more make-up classes, make-up classes are hard to schedule for certain days and times as well!)
It’s a $280 waste of money!

Extremely overpriced—if you want to shock yourself, calculate what you are paying for 5 minutes of instruction per class per student. Also very poorly managed—seems to be run by high school students and there is a major Lord of the Flies vibe to things. There are some really great individual instructors but also very high turnover and no consistency as to who you get from week to week.
Edit: After the lackluster response below claiming I don’t exist (maybe they didn’t spell my name right?), we went ahead and pulled our kids out and put them in another program that emphasizes longer instruction time and more 1:1 attention. They are really thriving at the new place. I wish we’d done this a long time ago.

Instructor turnover delays progress. I now have my second child in this program and have been disappointed with the program compared to four years ago. My eldest had a great experience and progressed quickly. Unfortunately this is not true for my youngest. For a month and a half I have been told that my youngest is just about to level up, but almost every week since then there has been a new instructor, and it seems like we start over. I bring it up every week after class and am told that they will do the assessment next week - which never happens. My youngest has stalled and won’t be ready for our beach trips. This place is ok for the winter, but once pools open in the summer, I plan to move my youngest out so that she can actually learn how to swim.

I write this after 4years of coming to this location - whereby my daughter has been going since she was age 3 in Junior 1, and we quit with two months into Swim Force.
Three years ago the admin team and all the high school to college aged instructors were stellar. Since mid-2022 to now, the new cadre of instructors leave much to be desired - assessment is made based off drop-ins with alternate instructors via makeup tokens, and observations of instructors during normal lessons.
The shortened lanes, focused attention, and level of instruction, really hones the awareness of the instructors from Junior all the way to Pro.They also ensure 1-on-1 focus to help fix the swim form. This remained consistent into Pro 2.
Since joining Swim Force, I have noticed the kids are dangerously overlapping/passing each other in the narrow lanes as they do laps continuously. The lack of instruction and help to correct are very apparent too. The kids are just swimming laps on the form of the night, and that's it. While they are kids, and self-awareness to swim straight is still developing, some instructors do NOT control kids to prevent them from passing or the respect not to kick/smack the other kids they are passing. Forms are not fixed, and some instructors are rapidly running the kids through all the drills without fixing anyone's form or helping the slowest - observed across all three levels/lanes of swim force.
There are TWO instructors I noticed that that are actually proactive to ensure overlap/passing doesn't happen, AND they stick with the slowest swimmer to help them. However, I've seen others that just hang back on one end joking around with the kids that finished or other instructors without visual accountability of the kids on the far end/in the middle. This isn't just the lane my daughter swims in, but this occurs in the other lanes as well depending on who fills in or the normal instructor for the lane.
We had the unfortunate circumstance of being in a lane with the same kid through Pro 1 and Pro 2 that was "overzealous" and, with obvious disregard, would consistently kick other kids. Note, this kid is also over 5-feet tall, towering over many kids. Instructors would give him a stare, but never actually address it. My daughter has told me multiple times she has been hit in the face by him or kicked in the leg; I would tell her to address it immediately, and when she does, it seems the instructor would band-aid the situation for the time being - never have I seen administration talk to his parents. In Swim Force, same kid in the same lane continued, compounded by other kids doing the exact same thing, again with lack of kid/parent accountability. I'm watching kids in other lanes with kids like this boy, doing the same to other kids too. None of which are addressed.
End of the evening 5-minute games of sharks and minnows or whatever mass swim game occurs, there is no technical oversight of how the kids are rapidly swimming to avoid getting tagged. I've seen kids get pushed under, kicked, or shoved. Parents are busy on their laptop and phones, so they definitely aren't seeing their kids getting injured. My daughter ended up getting kicked in her side and knee, leaving her limping out one of the nights and injured for three days.
Last but not least, when asking to drop enrollment permanently (Swim Force does not need 30-days advanced notice), the girl handing me the sheet for documentation asked me to "put medical down as the reason for cancelation so they don't get into trouble with management." Heck of a red flag to even ask a parent to do that, of which I declined to write "medical" when that's clearly a lie.
We've loved Goldfish for the focused instructions from 2019 till now, but my daughter gladly agreed to quit - losing multiple make up tokens and paid classes. If your kid loves swimming and wants to keep swimming, as mine does, look into true swim clubs for lessons and instructors that will help your kid(s) excel - Swim Force will NOT be that if that's what your kid is looking for. Best of luck parents.

We initially had a scheduling misunderstanding with the first summer session. The staff was more than gracious and worked with us to meet our needs. After two summers of missing out on pool fun during the ongoing pandemic, our gal soared through her swim lessons this summer and now is eager to keep up her swim practice on Swim Force. No doubt that the small and intimate learning environment at Goldfish contributed to making our gal feel more comfortable and confident in the water. Thank you, Goldfish Staff & Instructors!

We take our 1.5yo twins to a short swim lesson at Goldfish Swim School each week and all four of us love it! It gives everyone a chance to play and interact in the water; it helps us, as parents, understand how our little ones react to the water and being in the water; and it's been helping our little ones explore water and their movement in the water. As a family who spends a lot of time on/near/in the water, when we first signed up our little ones up for classes our expectation was just that we wanted to set a foundation of them being comfortable in/on/near the water. What we didnt expect, is that they would actually learn (and remember) how to kick their feet and move their arms - since we have started Goldfish Swim School, they have started practicing their kicks in the bath! Thank you for helping our little ones grow and develop into the little fish they seem to be becoming!

Do not waste your time and money in any way. They have ridiculous laws. Maybe your child did not like the class and you want to cancel, their rule is that you must notify 1 month in advance, when I started the class in the middle of the month, how can I notify a month in advance?!?!? I wasted $ 350 for just 2 times classes and they did not pay me the rest. Again , don’t waste your money and time at this place please please .

Goldfish Swim School - Falls Church is doing a terrific job! I particularly want to pay a compliment to the folks working the desk on the last few Sunday mornings. I was so impressed with how graciously but firmly they handled guests who didn't want to wear masks. It's not easy to be put in the position of enforcing that kind of rule, but they did it with kindness and authority. I'd also like to say that Grace, who teaches my daughter in Glider 1, is just awesome. She's patient and is turning our daughter into a kid who wants to learn to swim (when, in the past, she had really feared it). Thanks and keep it up!

The instructors are very patient, friendly and knowledgeable. They’re always smiling when teaching the kids and have great positive reinforcement techniques (not fake smiles). The facility is very clean and constantly being disinfected. They follow coronavirus guidelines on social distancing and require mask for anyone (5 and older) that’s not in the water. They’ve sanitizers everywhere. My kids and I love this place so much. The only minor observation is that the classes are not true 30 minutes on days (which is most days) your child shares their instructor with 2-3 other kids; meaning one instructor has 2-3 kids. So divide the number of kids by 30 mins, as each kid takes turns to go in the water. Right now, the price is very reasonable but I wish they look into that. The time per child not being 30 mins or even 25 mins is the only reason I rated this place 4 stars. Other than that, I love everything about this place, and most importantly, my kids love it! Thanks

Review as of July 2020 after reopening since mid-March (COVID)
Just wanted to provide an update on Goldfish. I took my son on Saturday and it was very well organized: clean, spacious and clear instructions.
Parents have to wear masks (kids do not), you have to check in outside and wait outside (on sidewalk) until 5 min before class and inside the chairs are spaced out and wiped down every 30 min. They limit the classes now to 3 per kid and instructors wear face shields. When the lesson is done you still talk to the instructor and then have to take your kids immediately out of pool and then out to car. Overall, we felt very safe and secure as they put a lot of thought into the entire planning and execution. Glad to see the same familiar, friendly faces (staff and instructors) and have my kids back in the water!

I rave to anyone and everyone about Goldfish! The staff is incredible; my daughters have loved all their instructors! They’re patient, kind, professional (with me) and funny (with the girls). Most importantly, my girls (aged 3 and 6) have improved leaps and bounds under Goldfish instruction. It’s incredible! My older daughter used to be terrified to swim and she’s at the Pro level already. My younger daughter has always loved the water, but can do so much though she’s so little! My family is so thankful for the program and their phenomenal staff in Falls Church. Thank you, Goldfish!

I don’t normal do reviews but my little cousin has been coming here and he has learned so much thanks to a teacher named Daniel. He now swims so well and even to the point where we went on a trip during winter break and he was comfortable enough to snorkel with dolphins all thanks to Daniel. If it wasn’t for such great staff our winter break wouldn’t of been enjoyable for the whole family!!

My 3 year-old has been attending Goldfish for almost a year. During that time he has gone from being afraid of water to becoming extremely comfortable. Each instructor has nurtured and cared for him as if he was a member of their family. I would recommend Goldfish to anyone who wants their child to learn water safety in a clean, fun, nurturing environment.

The quality of instructors and their training is beyond imagination. I used to do this with kids when I was young and totally appreciate how Goldfish is approaching such a difficult task to teach kids to swim.

They rent the facility out for birthday parties, provide life guards, and fill the indoor pool with foam toys. Parents could join the kids in the pool. Kids who couldn't swim borrowed life vests. The school also set up a table and chairs in the lobby where the hosts brought pizza and cake for the kids.

I like the small class size, the instruction feels almost one on one. I see my daughter and each child in her lane, getting individualized attention. I was initially concerned about the class duration only 30 min., but it is instructed efficiently. I also appreciate the positive & caring attitude of the instructors towards the students during class, and positive, constructive feedback from the instructor to parents after class.

“The instructors are skilled and fun, so my daughter loves going despite years of apprehensions in the water. She also feels safe sitting on the underwater bench so she always stays in the water. This is a way better model than sitting on the edge and watching. I love how many orange staff t-shirts I see around the pool securing a safe environment. We love Goldfish!„

We absolutely adore Goldfish Swim School Falls Church. The school is so much more than just a place to teach your child to swim. It is a true community. The employees and owners are generous with their love and time and are committed to building lasting relationships with their students. Goldfish Falls Church is also gorgeous and convenient! It's an easy place to spend time especially if you have multiple children. The murals, books, coloring pages, prizes, fish tank, large viewing windows, clean bathroom and showers make it a fun place in and out of the water. I generally have to beg my children to leave!! Our young children have a love and respect for water thanks to Goldfish. They know how to stay safe in and out of a pool, and while swimming also know the proper way to swim each stroke. I am forever thankful for the foundation they have given them. We look forward to watching them grow into a love for a lifelong sport and a willingness to always work hard to learn a new skill. Thank you Goldfish swim school Falls Church!!

Will complining, I called the reception asking for registration of my son, they said Ok! and gave time availability for me, same day was there to register when they saw that my son is with autism, they said no we can not register as we are full and we do ont have time even on working days all the day time!!!
