Hi, I went to the gym to get a membership because my job moved me to a location near this gym. I was met by a client service representative name. Jeremiah very nice guy explained to me the membership options and I explained to him that I get moved around by my job a lot and I didn’t wanna get into a contract because of that reason, he explained to me that I live outside there member radius, so what he would do is use my work address as my home address.and if my job relocates me I would just simply email their member services a picture of my license with my actual address and they would cancel my membership .it will be as easy as that so about 2 to 3 months into the membership I stopped working at that location and went into a different profession. I reached out to their cancellation department to cancel my membership, and I was told that they would need utility bill with my name on it in order to cancel the member Not except a driver license and I explained to them that I do not have any utility bills under my name and the only thing I have is my driver license. They were not helpful at all. I went back back-and-forth with them for Two months before reaching back out to Jeremiah, after reaching to him, he explained to me that he would get to his managers and get back to me I went back-and-forth with him for almost 3 months with no result. I was calling the establishment twice the three times a month and I was not getting anywhere. finally They have a new general manager named Vaughn. I got in contact with her and I explained my situation to her. She said she Would talk to the owners and get back to me come to find out Jeremiah lied to me About the whole license situation, he put my work address as my actual home address, which was not true. He tricked me into signing a two-year membership that they refuse To cancel when I spoke to him over the phone, he said he did not do such a thing which is a lie. He basically is lying and tricking in people into signing up memberships there. Anyone that has the same situation as me please be sure. Know that when you do go to try to cancel. It’s gonna be six months and they will still not cancel unless you have a utility bill under name .it A third-party who does their cancellation and they’re not helpful at all at the end of it all they’re expecting me to pay an open balance of $420 On top of what I’ve been paying monthly for three months and could not get a cancellation finally, I had to reach to my bank and let them know That this is a fraud and to stop paying them.so the worst thing is the upper management, including the manager new general manager Vaughn knows that Jeremiah lied to me he lied to me and tricked me into signing a membership, and they still will not own up to it. It’s very disgusting and I explain to them that I was in the process of purchasing Not want this to hit on my credit, but they did not care and they told me to go and get legal advice. Other than that it’s a good establishment. But just know what you’re getting into That their sales advisers are crooks and will lie to you to get you to sign up the membership and once you signed the data line, they will tell you they have a contract and there’s nothing you can do to get out of it you would have to buy House just so they can see that you moved away from their 32 mile radius and cancel a membership. It is ridiculous. And if you do go there to sign a membership stay away from Jeremiah because he’s just nothing but a liar and not even man enough to admit to what he’s done. God bless.

Waste of money and dont get the service out of it. Been here 2 years if not for my wife made a friend there and enjoy working out together we would have left long time ago. Manager doesn’t know what customer service means. She needs to get trained. Most staff don’t carry a smile. Kids club staff don't like kids they bring their own kids to play picking favorites. Happy at new gym.

This gym for me has everything I need. They have very friendly and supportive staff who greet you by your name when you come in for your workout. They have an amazing GRIND program that provides personal training to a whole new level. They have a great variety of classes like Body Pump, Cycling, Yoga, Zumba, Core, Body Combat, Body Balance, Aqua fit just to name a few. All of the instructors care about your success in the classes and your own workout journey. I have been a member for a couple of years and I actually love coming to this gym. They have a daycare that my children love going too. The daycare staff care about the children that are dropped off and make the children’s time there fun. This gym couldn’t be what it is without managers like Von or Bria that care the gym members, their staff and making the Gold’s gym experience an amazing one.

Gym went down hill over the years. They saw all the backlash they were getting from bad reviews so they started giving people incentives if they left a 5 star rating on here. You can see all the bad reviews then it suddenly changed to 5 stars. That is because they are convincing people to leave a good rating. Save your money! They trap you in unrealistic payment contracts.

I was excited to join this gym however, I did not look close enough before signing the contract. A lot of the equipment is in disrepair and they’re really aren’t enough weights. Also, the punching bag area is an extreme disrepair very few of the punching bags actually work. This place needs to invest some money and a serious facelift.

Contract will demand you to send an email with your new address and then pay a fee to cancel your membership. I sent the email and got somehow "denied". Next thing I know, a collection agency is calling and threatening me to pay $750+ or get sued. Avoid this place

How much 10 years on a FAMILY PLAN is worth to Gold’s Gym Fredericksburg?
Apparently… nothing.
To my great disappointment I found out. I’ve been paying for the family plan for a decade, recommending the gym to many friends and family members. In all these years, I had never used the guest pass privilege… until I tied yesterday.
I wanted to share my only two free hours with my sister, who is considering moving to Fredericksburg and was looking for a gym. My intention was to show her the place where I have invested time, money, and trust for 10 years. However, the experience ended up being uncomfortable and humiliating.
She was denied entry at the front desk because she “doesn’t currently live here.” The most frustrating part wasn’t the rule itself, but the total lack of empathy toward a long-term client. In a decade, I was never informed of this policy; that the guest had to be a local resident. There were no alternatives, no flexibility, and no acknowledgment of my loyalty. I spoke with the manager, and it was even worse—cold attitude, zero courtesy, and no solution.
The gym was practically empty (Thursday, 11 a.m.). There was no logical or humane reason to deny access, especially to a potential new member. The only solution offered: I had to pay for a full day pass so she could enter… even though we would only be there for two hours. Sure, I could pay for the whole day, but where was the recognition of my 10 years of loyalty—especially when supposedly members are encouraged to bring a guest? What upset me the most was the cold, inhumane, and humiliating treatment. They simply wouldn’t let her in.
Today I understand why I see fewer people in this place.
Conclusion: For Gold’s Gym, a loyal client has no value; they only see numbers in their system.
My recommendations:
To future clients: If you’re looking for a gym where the human touch is as important as the workout, this is not the place. Here, rules outweigh empathy.
To current members: Review the small print.
To gym staff: Flexibility is not weakness; it’s smart business. Clients are not numbers. We are people.

I've been training and lifting for over 20 years. This place is the best gym I've ever set foot in. It is massive. No overcrowding. The crazy part is there's two to three sections for everything: Cardio, free weights, etc. Never seen anything like it.

Tons of equipment, everything’s always working, and the place is spotless every time I’m here. The staff is awesome, friendly, and always willing to help out. Never too crowded, with plenty of free weights, Olympic-style lifts, machines, and everything you need to crush your fitness goals. I’ve been coming to this location for over a year now, and it’s hands down the best gym in the area.

Changed my review it was 5 stars but I couldn't stand the new management and terminated my membership. The new manager is rude and completely self absorbed. She only cares about the things she's interested in and treats anyone who suggests anything different like garbage. Please note she had the ratings inflated to hide all the horrible reviews she's been getting which is entirely dishonest.
Especially with all the new gyms coming to Fredericksburg like Crunch and FXBG Iron I highly recommend looking elsewhere. They picked the wrong person for the job and the high termination rate is showing that.
It's a shame cause there is amazing staff there like Jeremiah but unfortunately they just chose the worst possible manager they could to run it.

The people working there are great, they are like family. The gym has a ton of options on equipment, machines and free weights but it gets crowded and there are some favorites you’ll have to wait for.
The corporate side- if your attendance becomes less and less until you aren’t able to use the gym due to an injury, there’s a $25 charge to place it on hold, but it's only temporary. If you arent able to use it long term you can’t cancel it. They require doctors explanation and more saying you cannot use it. Appointments for doctors run from a month to three months out so.... and there are hundreds, thousands, of things not treatable by the medical profession and many come to this gym to work on untreatable conditions. The two stars should be five for the staff working there, but no stars for the greedy organization that confidently pockets your money when they can provide you no services. Basically once you join you are paying for several years whether it continues to work in your life or not.

I have been a member of those Jim for over 13 years. It is one of the best gyms I’ve ever been a member of. The teachers in the classes are great and I love the pool and there’s many other attributes to this Jim the manager keeps the gym in tiptop shape. I highly recommend Golds Gym and all the classes and excellent weight training equipment that they offer. They also have a section where you can take your kids to play while you exercise. I think everybody at Golds for helping me to maintain my workout goals.

Poorly managed gym, it's interesting about the previous comment below about not paying three times for my guest since she always had her license at the front desk and I have every receipt to show it. Jeremiah approached us three times during the middle of our workouts to sell us a membership not because we didnt pay, as well as even poking her back in the middle of a set to attempt to sell a membership again. He even acknowledged that he didn't check with the front desk before coming up to us trying to sell us a membership before accusing us of not paying which makes no sense as well as then coming back to apologize to us. So to say we didn't pay 3 times is asinine and just a lie when we even recieved an apology.
Edit: after the owners response to my review again he apologized due to policies not being followed by their team member not escalation on the gym floor. The front desk also told us we were good and to pay on the way out, so I'm not sure where this miscommunication is coming from. Also, the rest of my review was not addressed as coming up previously poking her in the back to sell a membership, and claiming we didnt pay when my account was charged over 4 times. I have also asked to speak to the general manager multiple times who just refuses to call me.
Threatening legal action when he poked her when she was on the back row hammer strength machine machine. I suggest you relook at the cameras some time in September because im not slandering. I work for the federal government why would I waste my time slandering a gym.

I've been a member here for about 2 years. In the last 2 weeks, I placed a small tip about the basketball net being torn, I took a week off due to injury and when I came back it was replaced. I didn't expect anything to come of my whining but I'm really happy to see that they take customer service to heart. Staff here are pleasant. Jeremiah got the hookup for new members. Thanks yall!

This gym is a great place to work out! The equipment is well-maintained and there's a wide variety of machines and weights to choose from. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and they're happy to answer questions. The gym also offers a variety of classes, including yoga, spin, and Zumba, etc, however, I have noticed that most staff members are from one racial group. I do not think this creates a welcoming space for everyone. I suggest that the gym consider adding staff from other racial groups to bring a better atmosphere.

I’ve been going to this gym for a while now, and I can’t keep quiet anymore. The culture here has taken a nosedive, and it’s honestly disappointing to see how fast things have spiraled. The General Manager, VON, plays blatant favorites — if you’re not in group fitness, you’re basically invisible.
The personal training department? Completely ignored. Trainers and their clients get the bare minimum support. Equipment is outdated, schedules are constantly disrupted, and any concerns brought up are dismissed like they don’t matter. Meanwhile, group fitness gets all the attention, upgrades, and praise. It’s obvious where Von’s priorities lie, and it’s not with the full gym community — only with the small corner she personally favors.
To make things worse, there’s now a weird flood of 5-star reviews on Google that don’t match up with reality. I overheard directly by the general manager offering incentives to members in exchange for fake positive reviews. That should tell you everything. Instead of fixing problems, they’re trying to hide them. It’s manipulative, deceptive, and honestly pathetic.
This is not a well-run gym — it’s a PR operation held together by damage control and fake smiles. People are walking on eggshells. Staff morale is visibly low. The powerlifting and personal training communities that once thrived here are being pushed out and replaced by shallow image-focused nonsense.
You can feel the toxicity in the air. Ask around — the people who built this gym into something special are either gone or being driven out. All because the management refuses to listen and can’t handle honest criticism. Von would rather bribe fake reviews than actually take responsibility for the dysfunction she’s caused.
If you’re thinking about joining, don’t. Save your money. This place has become a joke — a polished facade covering up a toxic mess. You deserve better. We all do.

Deeply Disappointed – This Gym No Longer Deserves Your Trust
As a former loyal member of Gold’s Gym Fredericksburg, I can personally confirm and support everything Melissa stated in her review. I watched this gym shift from a place that once fostered community and progress into one plagued by mismanagement, dishonesty, and blatant disrespect for its most dedicated members.
I’ve spoken directly with a current Group Fitness Instructor who CONFIRMED that the General Manager, Von, has been bribing and compensating members to leave fake 5-star reviews in a desperate attempt to bury honest criticism. This is not just unethical—it’s manipulative and deceptive behavior that Google needs to take seriously. You’ll notice a suspicious influx of glowing reviews shortly after Melissa and others started raising valid concerns. That’s no coincidence.
Melissa’s claims aren’t just valid—they’re shared by many of us who experienced firsthand how powerlifters, Olympic weightlifters, and strongman athletes were treated like an afterthought. Management failed to invest in promised equipment, forced long-time members to remove bars and gear we personally funded, and responded to criticism not with professionalism, but with gossip, defensiveness, and public smear tactics.
I stood by this gym through many disappointments, hoping it would change. Instead, it’s become a place that silences valid feedback, disrespects its core community, and deceives the public. I am now warning anyone considering joining: Think twice. You will not be supported, your voice will be ignored, and your money will be wasted.
The only thing “strong” left in this gym is the power of the community that used to call it home—and we’ve now moved on to better places that actually value lifters, honesty, and respect.

Gold's is great! It is quickly becoming a one-stop shot for all your fitness goals. Von has done a wonderful job in her new role, and Bria and her group fitness team are all amazing! There are several new weightlifting options, so there really is something for everyone. I will say that although there is a lot of cardio equipment, a lot of it is old and not in great shape. It would be nice to have updated elliptical machines and rowers. But other than that it is great!

I was surprised by how very much I love this place! I thought I’d be lost in such a big gym, but the staff make you feel comfortable no matter how old you are or your fitness level. I have taken almost every group fitness class, and the instructors are always great! They are enthusiastic and encouraging, giving little hints along the way how to get the most out of their classes. Now I have joined the special small group “Grind” classes for strength development, cycling and flexibility, and I’m getting even stronger! I really love being a “grinder” and look forward to working out!

Update:
It’s disappointing to see how the gym owner is handling honest feedback. After my genuine review — and others — suddenly there’s a flood of 40+ new reviews within just 3–4 days, when previously the gym averaged only 3–5 reviews per month. It’s clear they are trying to bury negative feedback rather than address it professionally.
Even worse, the owner has been discussing my review with certain members, and one even tried to get me to take it down. This behavior feels incredibly immature and unprofessional. At the end of the day, if you run a business, you should expect both positive and negative feedback and handle it appropriately — not resort to gossip and pressure tactics.
If you’re considering this gym, be aware: any concerns you raise will likely be dismissed, and instead, you may be accused of lying rather than your issues being genuinely addressed.
————————
I’ve been a loyal member of this gym since 2020, and it’s heartbreaking to see what it’s become. Especially for those of us in the powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting & strongman community.
Over the years, we created a tight-knit, well-known powerlifting group here. It wasn’t just a gym—it became like family. Many of us signed up for coaching and trained hard together, competing and supporting one another. We even invested thousands of dollars of our own money into specialty equipment—bars, plates, benches—all to make sure we had the tools necessary to prep for competitions.
Now, due to decisions made by the owners, that community is being torn apart. We’ve been told to remove our equipment without any compromise—no discussion about relocating it within the gym, no concern for the impact on our training. Just a cold ultimatum: remove it by May 1st or they’ll cut the locks. They made that very clear that’s what they wanted when they put a sign on EVERY SINGLE BAR. It was excessive, disrespectful, and completely uncalled for.
We were promised the proper equipment for serious powerlifting training. But that promise resulted in just three decent power bars—and that’s where the investment stopped. No squat bars, no deadlift bars, no competition benches. Most of the existing bars are old, beat up, and have no grip left—the knurling is worn smooth, making them nearly useless. And during peak hours, it’s almost impossible to find one that’s even usable.
I pay $70 a month, plus annual fees for just about everything—but where is that money going? Certainly not toward improving the equipment we actually need.
Despite the lack of resources, we still built something amazing. People at powerlifting meets recognize us—they know the lifters who came from this gym. That’s how strong our community was. We supported each other, brought home medals, and proudly represented where we trained.
I stayed through a lot because I believed in what we were building. But it’s clear now that our loyalty and contributions don’t mean much. This isn’t just poor management—it’s disrespectful to the community.
Now, most of us are looking for new gyms—places that actually support powerlifters, Olympic weightlifters, and strongman athletes, with the right equipment and a genuine respect for the community.

I have been a committed member of Gold’s Gym Fredericksburg since 2023, and I can confidently say I have seen tremendous positive changes at Gold’s Gym since the leadership transition. Gold’s is the only gym in Fredericksburg equipped for true bodybuilding — not just the standard commercial gym equipment you see elsewhere — which was a major factor in my decision to join.
As an active duty Army service member, my schedule fluctuates frequently. Gold’s early opening hours (0400) allow me to train consistently without any disruptions, which is critical for my fitness goals. I can get in, complete my workout efficiently, and leave — all without hassle. Additionally, being greeted by name every time I walk in the door is a small but powerful testament to the staff’s outstanding customer service. Membership is extremely affordable, priced between $35–$39, offering great value for the experience provided.
Since Von has taken over as General Manager, the gym culture has significantly improved. Previously, the atmosphere was often disrupted by a small group of individuals who brought in personal equipment, stacked it unsafely in common areas, played loud and offensive music on their own speakers, walked around barefoot, and set up tripods without regard for other members’ space or privacy. Their disregard for gym etiquette made the environment less safe and enjoyable for others.
Under Von’s leadership, these issues are being directly addressed. She is holding members accountable, enforcing standards, and restoring a respectful environment. I appreciate and fully support the steps she is taking to make Gold’s Gym a safe, welcoming, and professional space for all members.
Additionally, the gym has made noticeable investments in new equipment, and I frequently see maintenance and repairs being completed — another clear sign of management’s commitment to continuous improvement. Von is actively fighting against an unhealthy culture of entitlement that had previously gone unchecked, and she is doing an excellent job ensuring that all members have a positive and safe experience.
I am very happy with the direction the gym is moving and I am proud to be a member at Gold’s Gym Fredericksburg.

I really depend on my Silver Sneakers classes at Gold's, also the other "senior" friendly classes, such as "Strength and Balance". I feel these classes help me stay functional: get my heart rate up; practice balance, which diminishes as one ages; keep muscles strong/getting stronger; and maintain flexibility. Classes are essential for me, as I need that additional motivation of others to keep coming back to the gym and working out.

They're all my favorites 😍. They're so courteous, caring, and motivating to get strong, more flexible, and healthy. They make group fitness fun ! I look forward to going everyday and miss it when I can't go to a class, especially if it's one of my very favorites ! Special shout out to management who do such a great job and keep the place running clean and smooth .💛 can't say enough good things about the people who work hard there to help us members meet our finess goals. And I've made lots of friends there who i enjoy exercising with. 🥉to Gold's.

This is the best gym in the area, hands down! I have been a member for the past 13 years and my experience has always been great. They did close for a little while during the covid lockdown; during that time they did a deep cleaning of the facility, and were able to open up certain areas. I go for the group fitness classes; Gold’s offers mostly the Les Mills formats. All of the instructors are top-notch; they are motivating and engage with the class on proper form and movement. This gym has even invested in remodeling a dedicated area for more intense Les Mills training for members. I cannot say enough about the instructors; they work well together and are very supportive of eachother. I’ve made forever friends over the years from going to group fitness classes. Don’t be shy or afraid to try something new!

Wow! Let me tell you about my experience at Gold Gym! From the moment you walk in, you can feel the vibrant energy and excitement buzzing around. The atmosphere is incredibly motivating, and the facilities are top-notch!
Now, let’s talk about the GGX classes! These classes are a game-changer! They offer a fantastic variety, from high-energy cardio sessions to muscle-toning strength workouts. No matter your fitness level, you’ll find a class that challenges you while keeping things fun! The instructors are super knowledgeable and create an amazing community vibe that keeps you coming back for more.
Overall, I couldn't be more thrilled with my time at Gold Gym. If you’re looking to elevate your fitness journey, this is the place to be! Go check it out and experience the excitement for yourself! ”

This Gold's location is a phenomenal experience with so much equipment for all of your training needs. It is very clean, staff is nice and it has a lot of extra amenities like the basketball court and the pool. I love Les Mills classes and they offer so many different ones to chose from. Bria will sit down with you and give you a run down of all the classes on the schedule which is cool and she obviously really loves what she does. Huge gym, lots of options, staff that cares about everyone from all levels of fitness, friendly kids club staff, convenient location, and you never have to wait for a treadmill...what more can you ask for?

As someone who travels frequently for work and considers the gym a “home away from home,” I can confidently say that this Gold’s Gym stands out as one of the best. The facility is impressively large, offering a wide variety of machines and equipment that truly live up to the Gold’s Gym standard.
I currently hold six gym memberships across the country, and it’s no surprise that I find myself here over four times a week. The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming — a special mention goes to Brisa Berry, one of the kindest, awesome and most professional team members I have encountered across all 40 states I’ve visited/worked in.
Brisa took the time to introduce me to the group classes in the GGX and Mind & Body studio, and I have to say, the classes here are some of the best and most challenging I’ve experienced. As someone heavily into weightlifting, I underestimated classes like BodyPump — but I was quickly humbled !
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this gym. Thank you to the kind staff, and to those who thoughtfully designed and maintain such a great facility. The wide variety of equipment, combined with attentive maintenance and excellent customer service, makes this Gold’s Gym a true standout.
Thank you Bria :)

I've been a member here since 2019, I've seen people come and go, I've seen employees come and go. I've never had an issue with any of the employees, very few issues with members, but for the most part we've all become a tight knit family. There's of course the corporate stuff that goes on, and some equipment can be replaced, but I'm not interested on being that part, so it's just my opinions. My membership is affordable considering what is offered.
The classes are great, the instructors and trainers are the backbone of the this organization. I thoroughly enjoy Golds and all is amenities, minus cardio, cause who likes that.

So I've been a member of gold's gym for 10 years now and it's gone through several different managers over time. However I feel like they've always done the best for us and worked with us when we've been asking and talking to them directly rather than attacking them. I am the only Strongman athlete that trains consistently in this gym and they have been more than accommodating with allowing me to bring my own equipment when I need it for training. I understand their liability issues and don't want anyone getting hurt using my personal equipment. I've directly spoken with the manager in regards to making a designated space for powerlifters as well as for myself to train events and they have been more than receptive to my suggestions. I feel that approaching them in a respectful manner and properly discussing my concerns and offering solutions has been beneficial. I appreciate gold's gym for allowing me to train there and better prepare for world's strongest firefighter at the Arnold sports classic.

I’ve been a member at Gold’s Fredericksburg throughout college, and even after graduating this past December, I stuck around because of the strong lifting community here—especially the powerlifters, Olympic lifters, and strongman athletes who made this place feel like more than just a gym.
I haven’t competed yet, and I haven’t personally bought equipment for the gym—but I’ve been lucky enough to learn from and train alongside some of the most dedicated lifters I’ve ever met. These folks brought in their own specialty bars and benches, not to show off, but to make sure they—and the rest of us—had access to gear that actually works. They’ve welcomed me, let me use their bars, and helped me level up my training in ways I couldn’t have done without them.
Now, all that’s being threatened. The gym is forcing these lifters to remove their personal equipment by May 1st, with no real explanation or compromise. Just signs slapped on every bar like a warning. It feels cold and unnecessary—especially when that gear is the only reason a lot of us can train efficiently during busy hours or short time windows. Most of us work or have class schedules, and those bars help us get our compound lifts in and get out without wasting time chasing down half-broken equipment.
The reality is, the gym’s bars are worn out and inconsistent. For a $40 monthly membership, plus annual fees, it’s frustrating that we can’t even count on the basics to be there when we need them. And yet, when the community tries to fill in the gaps, it gets shut down.
What’s disappointing is that this gym has a reputation in the powerlifting scene. Lifters from here have shown out at meets. The energy, the community—it’s been something special. But decisions like this send the message that none of that matters.
I’m speaking up not because I own equipment or have competed, but because I care about this community and the training environment we’ve all helped shape. If this rule goes through, a lot of the people who made this gym what it is will be gone—and honestly, that might be the biggest loss of all.

I always start with the lowest rated reviews when looking for a gym to go to when on vacation. The billing issues honestly I have no idea about. Comments on the age and condition of the equipment couldn't be more far off if they landed on Mars. The equipment is obviously used heavily, which is expected. It is also well maintained, clean, and lubricated. Yes, some show signs of wear. That is to be expected with a high traffic gym. Now to my personal take. This place is HUGE and amazing. Equipment and bars for almost every training style form Oly, Powerlifting, Crossfit, Bodybuilding, or just everyday fitness. My personal favorite. Safety squat bars, belt squat, and GHR, they have them all. My family loved visiting Fredericksburg and we will be back and I will be going to that gym again.

There are certain things that would be cool to be addressed.. like the hours of operation, going back to how it was pre covid. Somehow maybe the Jets in the hut tub could be more powerful.. lol.. would be cool if basketball ball court (and rim) was re done, and ceiling in there was altered.. Sauna light dimmer in mens lockeroom.. (but sauna is nice, and from what I’ve heard amongst the best around)
Would be cool if maybe they made the other bike room, a movie room (since they closed the movie room down). At least for closing hours…
I may be forgetting some other things to be critical about… BUT overall, as my rating suggests..
GOLDS Gym of the burg is a great gym, great environment… I’d say great equipment… I don’t understand what people can be complaining about the equipment… it has all you need and then some… and really the monthly rate isn’t much at all to complain about!
Jeremiah is Awesome!!! He shows great class to all members, and new comers… as friendly as it gets. And all other staff always seems to be good spirited, and typically helpful..
One more time. Jeremiah is the man!!! Great stand up guy

It's kind of a shame that being one of the biggest Gold's Gyms on the east coast that their equipment is so old. Making a killing on memberships you would think they would buy quality equipment to compare to gyms like DMV iron or RVA Iron in the area. If you're not just squatting leg day will be terrible; pit shark is useless, leg machines terrible... Back and shoulder days terrible... Prepare to get a 2nd membership and drive an hour to get quality posterior days in... Maybe if everyone speaks up they'll listen and get some quality new equipment... Because staff are wonderful and it's a very clean facility otherwise.
As a response it's about quality over quantity - your equipment lacks that respectfully... And for accuracy my husband was contacted asking me to change my review (which he wasn't even aware I wrote) initially and to meet with a manager to give some ideas of equipment that could be brought in; we did say we would email some ideas of quality pieces to bring in, but I couldn't justify doing research that your team should be doing in my opinion... As a small business owner myself knowing your competition and needs for all different members that work out is crucial and take constructive criticism from my customers. Even with the newer equipment leg days & back days are basic and I just thought at the size of this facility it has potential to be great which is why the initial review was written. Maybe some more plate loaded equipment would benefit and remove some of those older machines that no one uses.

Don't give weight to the negative reviews. Some people struggle with reading and comprehension when it comes to contracts. I just moved from the great state of TEXAS, and I'm still on my 7 day guest pass. Let me tell you, this gym has everything you need, and then some. This is a lifter gym, not a fancy pancy athletic club where you're not allowed to sweat. This place is the real deal. The place to let it all out and smoke yourself to failure. With ample space and multiple rooms, you're never waiting on equipment! 5am crew 💪

Gym is nice but there are better gyms with better payment options. I got locked into a two year commitment and moved during the commitment. I unexpectedly moved just 2 miles outside of their "cancelation range" and started a new job in the other direction (Bluefield VA). It didn't make sence for me to go out of my way anymore and they wouldn't work with me. When I finally reached the end of my commitment they required an extra month of payment with my 22 day notice not being enough. Very very difficult to cancel. I probably would get a new membership when I move back in town but now this has caused me to have a bitter taste in my mouth about golds in Fredericksburg.

This is one of the hardest gyms to quit due to their contract, also when signing up. My brother and I initially signed up for a 1 year contract, but found out when we were attempting to leave the gym, due to moving out of state and out of country. The verbiage states we can use "a utility bill (water, gas or electric bill) for the new residence dated within the past thirty days." When sending the current electric bill, they stated that we couldn't use that bill and continued to bill my card.
Otherwise this gym is definitely fairly well equipped with equipment, except for their protein shake/smoothie bar; it lacks in what looks like sanitariness and real ingredients. I feel for what we have to pay for this should be a little more equipped with better ingredients.
1 star because we were swindled into the 2 year contract, where I notified the employee we both would be leaving in 45 days and the steps to canceling membership would be "easy." Definitely not an easy process, kind of disgusting. I would have re-joined when I returned, but the fact that it was increasingly difficult to cancel when we both were moving is definitely not worth returning to this gym.

Stay away from this gym. It is constantly overcrowded, bathrooms are disgusting and the rags they give you to clean are completely saturated, they won’t give you your own towel. So I called Taft services to try and cancel my membership. They told me despite the poor quality of the gym I was locked into a contract and they would not let me out of it. I told them that the contract should be void if they are not providing a quality product. You want 100% of fees you should provide 100% quality. Taft services told me and I quote “ It is my fault, I signed the contract” . Just finished up my first competitive year of bodybuilding and they were my main gym. I really wanted to take the time to give a big shout out to the ladies that work first thing in the morning. Every single morning they were very pleasant and had warm friendly personalities. They know how to keep customers while working hard. That made my training experience all the more enjoyable this first year

Rachel is professional but still very personable. She has great tips and knowledge. Every employee I met there have been super friendly, definitely recommend!

This 5 star review is on the back of Jeremiah. By far my favorite person at Golds. He’s always able to take care any issues and is always patient with me. Anybody considering getting a membership here should go straight to Jeremiah and not waste any time.

Worst gym ever. Provided my 30 day notice awhile back and still got an email from them saying that the 30 days notice starts counting once they receive proof of relocation. ( that is not what it says on the contract) go somewhere else they will steal your money…. I guess i will see them in small claim court. As you can see from the picture it says that you can provide a 30 days written notice and that all fees will be suspended once they receive proof of relocation. Doesnt say anything about starting the 30 days once you submit all the paperwork.

I love this place! They have sanitizers everywhere & you can wear a mask if you want but that is very hard to do if you are working out. Just make sure to stay away from people as much as possible. They have closed down some machines to help people social distance. It’s a gym so obviously you cannot wear your mask the whole time. Try to use it when you aren’t working out...like maybe afterwards or if you are just walking around.
Jeremiah signed me up and did a great job making everyone feel welcome at the tour/showing us where everything is. Everyone has been really nice here and it’s been a great experience!

This gym does not care about the health or safety of its members or their families. The owner of this gym sued the Governor of Virginia in an attempt to reopen during a deadly pandemic, appealing all the way to the Supreme Court of Virginia for the right to open his gym and endanger its members' health and the health of others in their community. The Supreme Court refused to hear the case after the owner lost in Circuit Courts, because only a proper lunatic would try to open a gym in the middle of an international viral pandemic.
This gym does not follow its own contract language required for canceling membership. The Contract requires a note from "a doctor" indicating incapability of using the Health Club. I provided the Health Club with a copy of Executive Order 53, which was of course written by a doctor, which proved I was incapable of using the Health Club for a period exceeding 30 consecutive days. This meets the explicit language of their Contract, period.
It does not require a note from "the Member's doctor" and it does not explicitly require any "medical condition" or "physical injury." I've requested multiple times that the Management provide reference in the Contract that explicitly requires that a doctor's note be from my personal physician and require a physical injury or medical condition, and they have never responded. They have never responded because this language does not exist. They require a note from "a doctor" and I supplied a note from a doctor.
I'm sure if any response is posted here from the gym's management it will be a generic response saying that if I supply a note from my personal physician they will terminate my membership. I have already supplied a note from a physician because that's as specific as you get in the Contract which was signed. Show me in the contract I signed where it says "In order to terminate your membership early you must provide a note from your personal physician specifically identifying a medical condition that prevents you from using the Health Club." Show me in the Contract where it says that.
The fact is that maintaining an income of $60/month for an unusable membership is more important to this gym than the health of a 3 month old child, because the only way I could possibly use this Health Club would be to visit its facility and risk exposing my daughter to a deadly virus.
Managing member: I stated the facts correctly. My intent has never been to change your refusal to honor your own contract, you made it clear that you had no intention of doing that, but rather to spread the word on every social media page available so that any prospective members were aware of your unethical business practices.

Today (Jan 2021) was my first time going back to Gold's since March 2020. To my surprise, their COVID guidelines are practically non-existent. There's not even a policy on their website. I worked out in the morning and I saw literally not one person on the floor wearing a mask. The only people wearing a mask was the staff, and myself. It appears that they do not require masks upon entry, when you're walking around the gym, or when you're casually talking and not working out. There are also no signs that say to social distance or more signs to tell people to wipe their equipment after use. I felt so disgusted, and this was not what I was expecting upon my return to Gold's Gym. Worst of all is that they won't let you get out of your contract due to a pandemic. I tried cancelling back in March 2020 and the only thing they could do was freeze my account for 6 months. I shouldn't be forced to stay in a contract during a pandemic if I do not feel safe. The contract was not built to take into account a global pandemic. It's Gold's responsibility to make people feel safe and I feel like my services are not met. Also, other gyms do not require a reason to cancel. Unless you are comfortable being around an environment with no COVID policy and no mask regulations during these tough times, then I do not recommend this place.

I had a horrible experience at the Fredericksburg Gold’s gym. I was duped into signing a 2 year contract without my knowledge. I used the gym for about 4 months then couldn’t go anymore due to some issues. I cancelled my membership but I kept seeing charges on my card for 2 additional months. I called and asked why I’m been charged since I cancelled and I was told I signed a 2 year contract so it’ll cost me $800 plus to cancel. I was not made aware of a contract. The guy that signed me up never mentioned of a contract.
I contacted the manager of this location and he said unfortunately, I’ll need to pay up to cancel.
I will not recommend you go here. It’s not worth the stress and the hassle.
