The gym is fine. But my complaint is that people will sit at a piece of equipment on their phone for long periods of time. Also why do so many of the younger crowd carry back packs around rather than use a locker or leave them in their car. Should I just walk over to them and ask them to get up or just stand there and start looking at my watch.

I'm in town temporarily for work and chose this gym because it's close to my apartment. Big mistake. While the facility and equipment are actually pretty good, the environment is absolutely terrible.

If you're someone who likes to come in, focus on your workout, and leave — don't waste your time here. This place is more of a social hangout than a gym. People stand around talking, taking up space and equipment, with zero gym etiquette. Some people are very disrespectful as well and will pretend you don’t exist and taunt you while you’re waiting for equipment to open up or intentionally getting in your path when walking to get dumbbells. If you're serious about fitness, expect to be treated like you’re the problem.

To make matters worse, I was threatened with violence by another member. I reported the incident, and new management did absolutely nothing. Not even after a conversation. Apparently, if someone harasses or threatens you, you're expected to just deal with it — especially if you're fit and not part of the little social clique that runs the place.

And yes, there is definitely a judgmental, self-righteous culture here that seems to take pride in it. I was targeted for how I dressed and what I represent by some hostile members — all because I don't fit their preferred narrative. The new manager was accusatory, dismissive, and completely unwilling to hear my side. Instead, he played mental gymnastics to make it seem like I was the issue. Totally unprofessional and spineless. I was also told to “Figure it out.” about my refund in a very disrespectful and snarky manner. I will be reporting this to the corporate office.

Bottom line: this gym might have decent equipment, but the toxic, petty, and frankly hostile culture makes it not worth your time. If you value respect, safety, and a focused workout environment — steer clear. Horrible, disgusting experience.

Good customer service and parking wasn’t bad but location is somewhat small for the are and doesn’t offer much to be desired. Massage chair has glitches and only one. Locker room and bathroom was clean but I felt like if they knocked down a wall, I would have given them a better review. Also, there is a sign threatening to suspend or terminate membership if you don’t rerack equipment. I don’t like the threat. A reminder is one thing as most understand the courtesy but a threat doesn’t feel good to see at a place where you pay membership fees

There is something about that particular Gold's Gym. It's not just the crowd, but a large percentage of the members are serious about their workouts and willing to help or spot others. I travel 25 minutes to this gym because of that and also the variety of weight machines they offer. 👍

It's a good gym with a variety of equipment, machines and free weights. No classes or other amenities, but a solid gym that's usually not too crowded before 8 am. Equipment is out of service often, but gets fixed within a few days. The only real complaint is that the staff likes to play right-wing news on the TVs - I channel that vitriol into my workout.

They definitely need a new hip thrust machine. The ones with an arched back pad are much more comfortable, I have bruises on my hips from the strap on this one. Least they could do is include a small yoga mat to pad you better.
Slightly unclean which is why I took away a star. Other than that, they have all the machines you would need!

As a former competitive powerlifter and an upcoming competitive bodybuilder, this gym definitely has its pros and cons. Let’s start with equipment. For the most part, it’s very solid. Good selection of Amazing plate loaded machines, dumbbells up to 150, cables, and an entire area dedicated to legs. As far as pin loaded traditional machines go, some of them aren’t my favorite. Many of the machines are are made to rock back and fourth as you rep out, and I personally find that annoying and distracting. As far as powerlifting goes, it’s great. Great Ohio power bars and deadlift bars, deadlift platforms, and an ER combo rack with plenty of other basic power racks. Staff has always been great to me, and 24/7 access is very nice. Now the community and people who attend are a whole different story. From about 10 am to 11pm daily, the crowd is insane. As someone who takes training seriously, it is often difficult to focus and train to the best of your ability due to the crowd and the type of people who are in the gym. For the most part, I struggle to find people at this gym who take genuine pride in training and being the best you can be, but they are rather there to socialize and take up space, break machines, leave weights everywhere, etc. for the quality of the gym equipment and the somewhat old school feel it has, it’s very upsetting to see the result of the general community at the gym. All in all, if you are someone that just wants to get a workout in and be basically fit and healthy in life, maybe go to socialize with friends, you will fit right in with everyone here. If you are a competitive bodybuilder, powerlifter, or want to take training remotely serious and have a place to go and lock in, you will begin to rethink your decision to attend this gym. If this is you, coming past 11 pm is your only hope for serious uninterrupted training. If you are new to the area, the gym is located directly in the middle of 3 high school districts, so a good majority of its members are high school kids who go to hangout after school. This gym definitely has its advantages, but the crowd and community is definitely a huge issue. If you are serious about training and what to take pride in the gym you are apart of, this gym unfortunately will not deliver.

I've been a member of Gold's Gym Swift Creek for several months now, and I can confidently say it's been a transformative experience for my fitness journey.

While this gym may lack certain amenities found in other locations, like a sauna, it more than compensates with its welcoming atmosphere and comprehensive selection of workout equipment essential for making significant strides in your fitness journey.

This location has exceeded my expectations in every way. It's not just a place to work out; it's a supportive community that empowers you to become the best version of yourself. If you're looking for a gym that prioritizes quality management, community, and results, look no further.

Haven't been in 751 days due to injury. When I mentioned this to a assistant manager today on my first day back I was told that it was a lack of personal responsibility and was handed the real managers card. I've tried multiple times to cancel before the owners switched and i work 9 to 5 m-f which seems to be the time you can cancel. I haven't talked to the main manager yet but the overall feeling of being dismissed and being just a number makes me inclined to leave.

Awful customer service! Don't ever waste your time signing up for this gym. It is impossible to cancel and get your money back for the yearly fee that they charge in January even if you canceled in January. They will charge you for an entire year even if you canceled your membership three days into the year. Fraud at its finest.

Awful place, from the front desk to the lack of working equipment. Rude and inexperienced management. Cables are always broken. 50/50 the water fountain is working (then charge you for water). Dirty/unsafe equipment. (Doesn't lock in place). Cancelled middle of October and was charged again at the end of October and again yesterday. Jay was no help at all. Was told they had no report of me ending my membership in October. And cannot be refunded. And then cancelled me over the
phone for the second time and got charged again 2 days later. Save your time. Go anywhere else on hull street.

Apparently there's been changes of ownership and subtle changes to contracts that members are not notified about. We are charged an annual cleaning fee yet it is often that I find empty towel/spray stations, or stations that are moved or taken away entirely. Trying to cancel a membership is a nightmare; you can sign up whenever you want, but can ONLY speak to the owner/manager to cancel, and ONLY during extremely inconvenient weekday hours?? OR you have to MAIL a letter?? Unnecessarily antiquated and tedious.

I’m starting to think any positive review for this location is a paid review or there’s been a change of management recently. I went early this morning and the state of the gym was honestly pathetic for the price tag. Bathrooms had trash everywhere lockers had trash in them. There was trash on the gym floor itself weights were everywhere. The front desk guy was playing a video game behind the desk. Some of the equipment felt unsteady like it was gonna break on me. I don’t know if all golds gyms are like this but this was one of the worst gyms I’ve ever been too.

I’ve been going to this gym since I was in high school. I am now in college and only go when I’m home for holidays. A couple months ago I got a new credit card and forgot to change it for my gym membership, so my account was sent to collections. I paid it off and the next time I went into the gym I gave them my new card and I was told that everything was all good. Then I went back to school. For the next four months I wasn’t being billed, so when I came back for Christmas I asked them about it and they told me my membership was canceled and I had to sign up again (also keep in mind I had been scanning in the entire week prior to asking them with no problems). They told me I had to pay the $80 sign up fee for the basic package, even though I literally just had a membership and it was canceled even after I gave them my new card and was told I was all good. They then tried to get me to sign up for the gold membership which only has a $1 sign up fee, but why would I pay $25 a month when I’m barely ever here? Absolutely ridiculous and horrible management who clearly doesn’t care about long term members

Source: Google

★ 1

Changed my membership from regular to first responder discounted price. They charged me the new price twice in one month. When I came in to figure out what happened, the manager said that I was not charged twice. After showing her my bank statement, she said it was the enrollment fee. After showing her the contract (no enrollment fee), she said it was the prorated fee. After showing her that the prorated fee was actually a full month’s fee for the last week of a month I already paid for, she said it was a downgrading fee. I didn’t care about the additional charge but I did care that every time new evidence was brought up, the answer changed. I cancelled my membership. I don’t care about the price tag but I do care about honesty and that interaction indicates probable issues in the future.

Guy up front was great and took responsibility/explained the best he could. He stuck with the same answer the entire time. The two females were incredibly rude.

Honestly not a bad gym however has pros and cons..... the gym around 5 after work omg so many people way to packed and lots of kids just playing around and adults standing around hogging the machines always have to wait to use something! Being that it's like 19$ a month you get what you pay for. That being said I joined American Family Fitness way better lots more space never have to wait on any machine and people aren't just standing around people are working out getting the money worth. The only reason I'm still going to golds gym is because I'm big into fitness and they are 24 hours unlike AMF which isn't!

Small weightlifting area. Not enough plate weights for all stations, especially 45 lbs plates. Only one movable bench for the two squat racks or for use elsewhere. Only two smith machines, one deadlift station, and only one full squat rack. These are frequently occupied by kids who stay on there for 1-2 hours at a time. They will come in together, squat or deadlift every day, occupying these areas for 3-4 hours during peak hours. There are also no Hammer Strength type machines. The gym has only very basic equipment and a limited selection (e.g. one free-weight incline bench is the only thing available for upper chest in entire gym). To fix they need more space, more modern equipment, and more weights. Otherwise 2/5 and that is being generous.

A great gym unless you try to leave. They have a policy that you must come in and speak with a manager (no exceptions). The manager will try to talk you out of leaving. I spoke with him (Angel?) for 20 minutes or so. My reason was that my wife and were going to try yoga at the YMCA down the street. He said he would take care of it. I filled out the exit paperwork and figured it was done. The monthly fee was pulled from my credit card for the next 2 months. I put a stop payment on the credit card. I've ignored the non-payment phone calls for 6 months now. The grand total is now in the hundreds of dollars. They are now going after my credit score. I don't care, its a matter of principle.

I've been a member since 2014 and have put up with no closed captioning although all of the other channels have it. Strange colors on the picture, Wifi works some times and some times not. And today, no CNN, but the cartoon network was available! Really! When I complain about these various problems, I am ALWAYS told it will be fixed today. And it usually isn't. A bit of a mixed bag but this place deserves 5 stars. Truly 24/7 access for starters.

You can tell the franchise owner has the right mind when it comes to obtaining unique gym pieces that turn what you would expect to be an average express gym experience into something much more interesting. A glute bridge machine, hip squat machine, power sled, a large space dedicated to turf. You don’t find these pieces in any other gym in Richmond, not even Wolfgang’s. As someone who used to spend a lot of time reading bodybuilding and fitness articles from T-Nation and various other sites of this type, I get the sense that the gym owner is also from this background and knows writers like Thibodeau, Contreras or Bruno who talk about these types of interesting lever machines and movements that offer some benefits beyond the standard gym routines or machines that you will find in your standard box.

That being said the addition of another power rack or half rack would have gone further in reducing the wait time for the 1x power rack, deadlift platform and leg press that are in the gym.

Gym etiquette has only been a serious issue during one of my visits. During a peak time, a big dude and his girlfriend were occupying the only power rack for rack pulls, at one point taking 14x 45 lb plates for the dude’s pulls, which pretty much wipes out most of the limited number of 45 lb plates in the near area for anyone else to use. This is in addition to long rest times between sets of like 5 minutes and ultimately using this rack without ever leaving it for about 45 minutes. Ridiculous. I wouldn’t care if the quantity of 45s were higher, if it wasn’t the only power rack (if you’re going to use a rack for 45 minutes there better be two others available) and if they weren’t so distracted with their conversation in between sets, but you just killed everyone else’s workout time if they wanted in to do squats at some point in the near future.

Would give zero stars if I can. Seems like this gym is all about people signing up but not really caring about what a person really need. Lindsay was fake polite when I signed up but didn’t even acknowledge me when I came in to cancel. Then to top it off I had to make a second trip just to get the $1 that I paid refunded back to me .. yeah it’s just a $1 but I paid it within 24 hrs ago... the small print says if after 3 days past the sign up, you will have to pay $58 to terminate agreement. That’s dumb too! Why do I have to pay to cancel.. ? Also, the gym is small!! Especially the movie cinema and weight area! I had to take my business elsewhere bc this wasn’t it!

Update: Manager Lindsay called me to argue about this review. I politely told her I was at work and that I wasn’t doing this with her over the phone or in person and to have a blessed day.. she began to proceed by yelling byyyeee in my ear before terming the call. How professional?! I’m glad I took my business elsewhere bc this is def not how anyone should be treated! 😑

Small gym. Too many members for the tiny area. To make it worse, they put in turf taking away equipment. If you're not a teenager looking to hangout just go to Wolfgang's.

They ran out of toilet paper apparently... The bathroom by the water fountain was out of TP and 2 of the men's stalls were out of TP as well.. Very disappointing. Then when I was walking out, the hand sanatizer by the front door was out of liquid..

So far working out here has been a good experience. Machines aren't broken too often, and it's not crowded when I usually go.

I feel like the space needs to be utilized a bit better. Feels a bit crowded at the moment, ever since the green turf thing was added.

Might be a big project but I'd like to see that outdoor space covered and conditioned. Would almost double the floor space and give people some breathing room.

Also wouldn't mind a drink bar of sorts, maybe something simple.

Just suggestions.

Today very disappointed to the find the bicycles moved so close to the theater screen. Not good for your eyes nor being able to see the movie. I have back problems so can't use all those elliptical machines you have jammed into the theater room. Why on earth did you guys do this. I so enjoyed being in there doing my bicycling and enjoying watching the movie. I have recently been thinking about leaving this gym anyway because each time I go in there something has always been moved. Never can find the machines I like. They are jammed together to closely. Plus the green stadium floor takes up to much wasted space for the small amount of activity that goes on there.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earlier this year I posted a review regarding problems with this golds gym location . I am happy to say that gold gym has made a complete 180 regarding cleanliness and aesthetic appeal.
It takes a great company to listen to customer feedback respectfully and make improvements as needed.
Thank you Golds Gym! My family and I will continue To give you our patronage.
Keep up the fabulous work!

The quality of the bathroom is completely unacceptable. I have been a member of several golds gyms over the years and bathroom cleanliness has never been a problem. This facility needs to work on a process for maintaining cleanliness in the bathrooms. It is becoming worse over the last few months. The floors are sticky, there’s a strong urine smell, moldy showers. It is a health hazard.
Many gym members are going next-door to use the restrooms at Publix.
I joined this gym because it is very close to my new house, however if things don’t change I am strongly considering taking the 30 minute drive back to Gold‘s gym Westchester.
I know many many gym members have been complaining, I’m not sure if management does not care or is having a staffing issue? Every time I’m in the locker room gym members are talking about how disgusting the bathrooms are. There is absolutely no way that management is unaware of this problem. Hopefully they will learn to value sanitation a little more.

Incredible gym. Made the switch to Gold’s Gym at Swift Creek about two months ago and have no intentions of leaving anytime soon. The signup process was made quick and easy by the staff. Overall good gym atmosphere. Love the fact I have options when it comes to working out at different gym locations with Gold’s. Would strongly recommend

Went in to cancel my membership. Young lady at the desk said her manager was in a meeting and took my name and phone number and said it would be done that day. Still got charged the next month. Now I have to return again to cancel it and try to get the charge refunded. They need to hire less incompetent staff.

I joined today and Joe, who helped with this, was awsome. He helped every step of the way, patiently explaining all details. Even pleasantly repeating some details. He was very positive and upbeat and the gym had a great selection of machines. I didn't have to wait for any except the rowing machine, there were only 2.

Overall, a nice experience and a clean, affordable workout facility.
