Yoga studioAbout the Club
The Health Advantage Yoga Center, founded in 1991, is one of the oldest yoga studios in Northern Virginia. The majority of our instructors have taught yoga for over a decade, bringing a wealth of experience to our yoga center. All of our teachers are trained to work with a variety of students from those who are fit and active to those with physical limitations.
Classes are alignment-based with individualized attention to each person's optimal position in the poses. Instructors encourage students to listen to their bodies and move at their own pace. Courses are divided into levels so classes can be taught progressively to groups with similar knowledge and skills. Each class ends with deep relaxation.

My chiropractor recommended this studio years ago by noting that my lower back problems require taking classes with yoga professionals rather than going to a run-of-the-mill gym yoga class. I never looked back since then. If you take classes in this studio, you are guaranteed to do your poses correctly, with proper alignment, and at the level that fits your personal yoga journey. In my opinion, this is the best studio in Reston-Herndon-Sterling area. And my chiropractor agrees!

I have been studying at Health Advantage for 20 years and highly recommend it. The teachers are highly trained and supportive; the atmosphere is friendly and non-cliquish; and the classes are thoughtfully sequenced to allow students to deepen their practice and work safely into more complex poses over the course of a session. The teachers did an amazing job adapting to the pandemic and providing online classes; Susan (the studio owner) is now moving cautiously and safely toward in-person classes. HAYC is one of the oldest yoga studios in Northern Virginia for all the right reasons, so do yourself a favor and practice here!

I've taken yoga classes on a regular basis at HAYC since 2003. HAYC focuses almost exclusively on yoga. It occupies the second floor of a building in a Herndon office park. The facility is well-maintained and provides you with all the equipment you would need for class. The calendar year is broken into four sessions ranging from 12 to 14 weeks. Students range in age from elementary school to 90+, and include women and men. With instructor permission, students may drop in for a single class, or sign up for a whole session. The fee for a single class is quite reasonable, but signing up for a whole session is the best value. The instructors are first-rate and each has completed a rigorous training program. HAYC is usually open every day in the morning, and Monday - Thursday in the late afternoon and evenings. Major holidays are observed and missed classes may be made up. Seminars and single-day events on topics related to health issues or yoga are held on a regular basis. HAYC has a good website with information about classes and fees. You can sign up online, by telephone during office hours, or at the facility in Herndon. Practicing yoga will strengthen your body and emotional resilience, and increase your flexibility--necessary things for a healthy body, mind, and spirit in these interesting times.
