This is an amazing facility. We attended our 4th volleyball tournament yesterday and again the facility was hot (temperature) inside. I'm pretty sure no one has been trained on how to operate the BAS system that controls the facility since I noticed that the destratification fans located in the ceiling were not running which helps circulation throughout the building envelope. Or either the owners of the building are not running the HVAC in hopes of utility savings. Promoters of this facility are doing an amazing job bringing quality events to the area. Owners of the building need to do their job and keep the participants & spectators comfortable. With the inflated entrance fees & state fair food pricing I think you can afford it.

I’m upset because I have a bad back and walk with a cane. They wouldn’t let us park closer to the building where the handicap parking was or allow me to be dropped off at the door. They made up park in non-handicap spaces even after it was explained. I have a handicap pass for a reason and for them to park us in non-handicap spots is unacceptable. I could see them and they were empty. Also those seats in there could have been a little larger because I was uncomfortable between the people I was sitting with because we kept bumping into each other every time we moved. I am glad you built a facility that was more accessible for families to get too but just don’t understand why you wouldn’t allow us to park in the handicap spaces. There were several families complaining with wheelchairs and rolelaters and canes besides me.

Outstanding facility. Well-lit inside. Seats 3500 for basketball and there really isn't a bad seat in the house.

I bought out tickets for a basketball tourney in advance, and when a small glitch happened on Day 2 and my digital ticket wouldn't load, the box office staff was VERY helpful in getting us set up with paper tickets.

Concession choices range from the usual popcorn, hot pretzels, and Cokes to packaged salads and sandwiches. There's something for everyone, really. Concession prices were reasonable (unlike many newer arenas these days). The checkout lines moved fast, so if you go while a game is in progress you won't miss much.

There is a separate area for beer and wine sales. Plenty of comfortable seating and several TVs.

Restrooms were clean and well-lit.

Parking was a little tricky in Mar 2025 with hotel construction next door, but no big deal. If that construction is still going when you visit, I suggest you drive all the way up to the building and turn left, then keep going til you see parking spaces. Be wary of people walking in the lane as there are no sidewalks there. Once the construction is finished that should clear up.

One oddity in the arena -- from one side, you'll be able to see two small scoreboards (see pics) on the other side of the arena, one at each end of the court. From the other side you can't see those, so you'll have to watch the scoreboard over the arena floor. That can put a crick in your neck if you're sitting close to the court.

Overall, a pleasure to visit the Henrico Center. Looking forward to visiting again for the 2026 A-10 Women's Basketball Tournament.

Facility is nice, food and drink policy for event is nonsensical. Another example of a poorly thought out money grab around youth sports. No reason to not allow outside food. (If you think you make more money by doing so, the market research doesn’t bear out that conclusion). If you are going to have that misguided policy, try serving food with at least marginally healthy options (especially at sporting events). Also, provide cups/plates/utensils that are environmentally friendly.

If your kids have events here, just give your food to your athlete to put in their bag. Those bags aren’t checked.

8 full basketball courts. Courts convert for volleyball (16 volleyball courts) Separators roll down from ceiling on three sides of basketball court, fourth side has seating and wall. Volleyball has two courts per basketball court so no separator between each set of volleyball courts.

Noisy in the building but separators make it easy to tell whistles in your own game.
Concessions and meeting rooms. Floor bleachers and upper level with chairs, sofas and tables.
Very new, clean, well laid out. Parking is good, plenty of space. Restaurants nearby, at least one hotel very near.

The center was an outstanding venue to visit! I first watched the Highland Springs graduation ceremonies online, and later that day, I had the pleasure of attending in person for my nephew’s graduation with Varina High School.

The place was incredibly spacious, offering ample legroom for everyone. The seating design truly impressed me; the low step platform maintained the same gentle angle all the way to the top rows, ensuring comfort and easy navigation. It made the whole experience even more enjoyable!

First time going was really looking forward to going and watch my son play at our local facility a basketball tournament. Was a downer when admission was 40 dollars a person even for kids, having a family of 5 we could not afford that so I was the only one able to come in and watch him play with his team then soon found out every toilet in the facility was clogged up and the building people said that there were restaurants around driving distance away to go there to use the restroom. Ha a big joke if you ask me will not be going back most likely sad considering Henrico county built this with tax funds

Limited accessibility.
It is unfortunate that a brand new, beautiful facility like Sportable did not give more thought to the needs of disabled athletes when they built the shiny new building. The doors are too narrow to fit sports chairs, with the removable barriers cemented in place. The elevators are small and there is only one small curb cut at the front entrance. Worst of all, the bathrooms are difficult to access in wheelchairs, requiring the athletes to leave their chairs or remove a wheel to use the restrooms. I’m sure minimum ADA requirements were met, but there is so much more to being a welcoming and truly accessible place for disabled athletes than meeting that low bar.

I was here for the Wheelchair Basketball National Games. The event space wasn't adequate for all the athletes. The showers weren't available to the athletes, there is only one handicapped stall in the women's bathroom and considering the amount of stalls in each bathroom, this facility could've been planned better to be more accessible. The concession stand was pretty decent, they had Sahale snacks which are gluten, dairy and soy free. All the sodas had high fructose corn syrup. Like all other venues, you're not allowed to bring your own food. I would be back again, but hopefully the Wheelchair Basketball Association will choose a venue that puts accessibility at the forefront of their planning and not an afterthought.
