Not sure where I should start but I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anybody for childcare specifically. My child was constantly bullied while he was there. He also attended the summer camps at different locations and the bullying continued there. Was I notified properly?!?, no… The staff are supposed to call you whenever an incident happens and I was notified once out of the 6+ times something happened. From being kicked in the neck to being slapped by other children. Not to mention the staff tried to blame my son on some instances instead of making sure the other children keep their hands to themselves. I will not be returning to the facility. Seek childcare elsewhere because it’s obvious the young adults working here don’t look after children as they should. The director, Gereka, was helpful in solving some issues. That’s the only good thing I can say.

Just made a new membership here, and Nelson and McKenzie were the staff who helped check me in! They provided truly exceptional customer service!! They were incredibly kind, attentive, and patient throughout the entire process. They went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcomed, informed, and excited to get started.
This facility is wonderful, with so many workout options to accommodate a variety of needs and goals. Thank you, Nelson and McKenzie, for an amazing first impression and for setting the bar so high with your outstanding professionalism and hospitality!

Upon enrolling my son in the YMCA summer camp, I made it a priority to communicate his Autism diagnosis and emphasized the importance of having counselors who are patient and sensitive to his specific needs. Despite this, it wasn't until a month into the program—during a conversation with one of his counselors about some concerns they had—that I learned the counselors working directly with him were unaware of his diagnosis. I was told that now that they were informed, they would "be more patient moving forward," which is a bit concerning—especially since counselors should be patient with all young children, regardless.
Another issue was swim time. My son is somewhat hesitant around water. Prior to enrollment, I was assured that there would be at least one counselor in the pool with the children to support those who may feel anxious. I understand that the camp staff are responsible for many children and that some require significant attention. However, based on the information I was given, I expected a level of support that would make my son feel safe and included—particularly in environments he finds challenging. That wasn’t the case, and I later learned the pool is 4ft deep—about the same height as my son. With no adult in the water, I don’t feel the environment is safe for such young kids as small as a 5 year old, especially one who isn’t completely comfortable in a 4ft pool.
I also experienced a lack of confidentiality and security. During the first week, neither I nor my son’s other approved pickup adults were asked for ID at pick up. Only when I brought it up did someone check—once. Additionally, when I raised a concern about my son’s stretched-out shirt at pick up, the counselor named the other child involved, which felt unprofessional and violated that family’s privacy.
As someone who holds fond memories of attending YMCA’s summer camp myself, I had high hopes my son would have a similarly positive experience. Unfortunately, due to these communication gaps, safety concerns and unmet expectations, that hasn’t been the case.

Gym is small and mirrors are covered up. Broken and unclean workout items. The people working out in the morning makes you feel uncomfortable and talks about you while you working out about how others workout. NOT A JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE. I haven’t been back since.

Great y
Only problem is the men’s locker room is to small, if ther are 5 people in the men’s locker room , you are sitting on the other persons lap, this needs to be corrected, fixed soon , a man should not have to be put in this position!!

It's one of the best Y locations. Staff is friendly and always willing to work with you. They did some new paint job with the wellness floor, and it looks amazing! They have promotions for joining, which really helped me as a Regent student. I also heard that if you work at the Y, they give you a 25% discount on your tuition at Regent! If they can work around my schedule, I think I will apply here for that discount. The executive director is so kind! Front desk people are kind, and the ones cleaning the place are always on the move! Love the new paint job and ceiling tiles! I can't wait to see some more remodeling of this place. It's not an overnight thing, so I'm just happy to see it when I come in to work out.

I’ve been a member for some years and this by far has to be the filthiest YMCA I have ever been to in my life. I was scared to touch anything! To be blunt I do think they ever clean in here. This is pathetic. They need to shut down for a day and do a deep cleaning. This is bad. I hope they get it together because they actually have the things that I like (whirl pool, steam room and sauna), but cleanliness is not on their list at all!

This location has a lot of potential because it’s clean, quiet, and conveniently located. However, it is poorly managed.Three months ago, I visited with my 6-year-old and discovered that the “I Zone” was only open on Saturday mornings. I spoke to the manager about updating the hours on their website, and she mentioned they were working on hiring someone to expand the hours.Last month, I checked the website again, assumed the hours had been updated, and returned, only to find that no one had been hired and the hours still hadn’t been corrected. This was frustrating and a waste of time. I asked the manager again to update the website to reflect the actual hours of operation.Last week, we made a reservation for a swim assessment because the Great Bridge pool was under maintenance. We arrived on time, only to find no instructor present. Management was completely unaware of the assessment, and the manager had to look up the details before staring at me blankly, unsure of what to do. She then attempted to conduct a makeshift swim test in an unprofessional and disorganised manner to make up for the situation.I reiterated to her that they should remove services from the app or website if they cannot offer them properly.

Don't bring your children here unless you are okay with them consistently getting bullied on by other children & the staff doing nothing about it. 👍🏻
To the parents of the twin boys & the other little boy {you know who you are} ... Raise your children better & quit teaching racism.

It’s an okay place if you want a gym. It’s family friendly, the people that work there are nice, and it’s on the smaller side if that’s what you prefer. They have a variety of equipment for cardio and strength training, although I feel there is not enough of it for the amount of people that come here. It’s not too spread out, so it feels cramped during peak times. The hours are very limited and you have to pay more for 24 hour access. The membership is one of the most expensive I’ve seen for a gym. It’s an alright place if you want a gym, pool, sauna, and daycare all in one, but I feel there are better facilities for good prices.

I am an extremely upset parent. I spent money out of my hard earned check to enroll my kids in camp and I am not receiving phone call communication that I have requested from Carmen Waslicki and I keep getting the run around. I tried speaking with Jalen the camp director and he was not compassionate, empathetic and he did not offer any true solution to my concerns or issues. I feel scammed out of my money and no one is following up in a timely fashion or calling me to address my concerns.

Jaceona (JC) was sooo patient with me. The customer service at this location is impeccable. She was very patient, helped me with all my questions and concerns I had for before and aftercare, kind and very sweet. She found ways to help me with everything I was looking for . She went above and beyond and gave exceptional customer service. I was at this location for about 2 hours and I feel super comfortable with my child attending for care here. Thanks so much ! Keep up the amazing work! Please look into promotional or raise opportunities for her she deserves it!

This is my MOST favorite YMCA in the 757!! This particular location is farther away from where I live but I really like the parking availability for HP as I'm disabled and it is easy to get to the building and to the pool. And one main reason why I love this Y is because of the staff!!! SO FRIENDLY & treats you like family!! The Pool is a perfect size for laps and all the great Aqua classes they have! My favorite one is Aqua Zumba and Silver Sneakers on Mon, Wed, and Friday mornings at 9am. On Tues & Thurs evenings they have Aqua Zumba and Aqua Boot Camp! I love this Y!!!! 👍🏽👍🏽😊

Currently go to this location there is a lot of gear but all of its rusted the gear that's brand new is locked behind closed doors during the 24 hour access times. Also you have to pay for 24 hour access? Never had to do this before and with the cost of a YMCA membership it makes no sense.

My wife and I continue to sign up for classes/events on the website and CONTINUE to face cancellations. We even called ahead for the latest author meet up event at Princess Anne location and was told that it was NOT CANCELED.
Lo and behold we get there, canceled. We are getting extremely tired of this.
Be very wary of signing up for things for the Y, apparently the website is independent of the locations; with things being done locally and not honoring the site.

I've been going here for almost a month and I absolutely love it! It's great being back in the gym and they offer so many options for things to do. I'm disabled and the Y offers so many classes and workout equipment to help me with rehabilitation and maintaining my health with low impact exercises. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I love it here! Happy to be a member!

I came in here to ask about a Ymca membership that I already had and they said that I was a nationwide member which I knew. Then the lady proceeds to say I’ve never had an account and was trying to get me to make an account. She got very sassy with me and told me to be patient. Denise H made me feel very uncomfortable and was extremely rude to me. I cannot believe that a woman could be so rude. I was apparently too much for her so she sent me to another associate who resolved the issue in less than 2 minutes and helped me out.

The staff is extremely kind. Elizabeth and Margaret really know how to run a top notch establishment. They are always always cleaning the facility, which is wonderful. If you're looking for a good place to spend quality time, I would definitely recommend this location. They have a lot of classes for all different kinds of activities. You will not be disappointed

Hi I just took a tour of the Indian River YMCA. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. She signed me up and gave me a quick tour. This YMCA had a sauna, a steam room and what I was especially looking for a hottub. The weight room was well equiped with modern equipment and my membership allows for a personal trainer along with classes. I'm looking forward to starting soon.

List of items broken;
1. Whirlpool has been broken for a month..temp will not exceed 89 or less.
2. Steam room broken as of 8/22/22.
3. Sauna door will not close unless you wedge a piece of cardboard in the door jam.
4. Men's locker room has a shower stall inoperable..shower head missing
This is crazy..I spend 78.00 per month and understand things break but it seems there is no progress. The staff is very polite and understanding but it still doesn't help.
Thani you, Dave Mullen

Such a wonderful gym! Beautiful indoor pool. Very well air conditioned, and staff is so friendly and helpful. You get 20% off if you refer a friend so happy I’m saving my Aunt and myself some money for her referring me. They also have a steam room and sauna. Top notch quality of the machines in the gym. Nice locker rooms and restrooms. Private shower and bathroom near gym. Just had our first personal training session with Torrey and loved it! Can’t wait to do it again!

The Hot Tub has been out of service due to numerous ongoing excuses for many months now. My membership increased and is due each month but yet they can’t get their equipment repaired and inspected. Pool has debris “bandaids, sand and hair” collecting in bottom; I never see them vacuum pool. Pool water level allowed to plummet before refilling. Steam rooms smell moldy; I’ve never seen them hose them down. Air recirculating vents covered in dust and filth in restrooms. I’ve complained numerous times before but seems to fall on deaf ears.

I use the YMCA for before/after care and the e-learning and this place is just wonderful. My daughter loves it. The staff are friendly and will always answer any questions you have. I have yet to meet a staff member there who was rude or seemed like they hated their job. This company works with working parents and treats you like a person not like someone to get money out of. They truly care. I recommend them highly for child care.

Reinstated membership because I found out this location has a steam room. Too bad it doesn’t work. Sat in there 30 minutes straight 4 days in a row and only saw steam once. Families pay at least $100 a month. I hope that the money goes back into the Y, including maint. Went to report it to front desk and the agent basically blamed the members and then told me I could tell the maint man if I wanted. What? I’ll give this place a few more weeks to repair but I’m out if they don’t. That’s the only reason I’m coming here.

The Indian River Family YMCA of Virginia Beach Virginia is a great YMCA, and here are some reasons why:
Indian River Family YMCA has such a large variety of equipment for whatever type of exercise your looking for. For example it doesn't matter if your into cardio, weightlifting, swimming, spinning, running, or cross-fit because there is something for everyone. Not only does the Indian River Family YMCA have a variety of equipment, but it's also the newest equipment on the market. This is not only the latest and greatest equipment, but it's also laid out perfectly throughout the Indian River Family YMCA. I have been to several other YMCAs, but none compare to the Indian River Family YMCA. No other training facilities or gyms can compete with the Indian River Family YMCAs equipment, equipment cleanliness, employee professionalism, facility cleanliness, or overall facility as a whole.
Also all employees at the Indian River Family YMCA are prompt, professional, courteous, and tactful. Every employee at Indian River Family YMCA went above and beyond for me. Indian River Family YMCA of Virginia Beach has a welcoming atmosphere that leaves the customer wanting to come back time and time again.
The overall cleanliness of the Indian River Family YMCA is above average from other YMCAs I have been to as well.
Finally, the Indian River Family YMCA is easy to find, and also has accessible parking.

Always a relaxing and joyful experience in the spa/wet area. My routine of sauna, pool, hot tub, pool, steam room and pool again as a final cool down before calling it a day with a nice hot to cool shower. All done in 2 hours. I get home, take a 20-30 min. walk and then a nice nap. That makes my day!😀
