Hello. I want to share a really positive experience at this LAFITNESS location because of one person— Fitness Director and trainer Vanessa (I don’t know her last name) but you can’t miss her. She walks around the gym talking to members, giving them fitness advise and pointers on how to execute moves and exercises correctly. She approached me while I was doing TRX on the turf and taught me more than a few exercises to add to my repertoire.
I have been a gym enthusiast for a long time (10+ years) and the exercises she showed me I have never seen yet alone do! She even proceeded to do a handstand while one leg was suspended on the TRX!
Talk about humbling as I was definitely humbled but it sparked such a fire in me to really do better and take my fitness to the next level. The fact that she was so much fun and REAL and easy to talk to made her even more awesome!
Vanessa is possibly a hundred levels above me but I definitely see where I can take my fitness to. She is my #goals!
If you guys want to see what a real fitness person/trainer/director looks like, go see her and she will show you what real fitness can be!

My experience here is very good.
Staff is very welcoming. From the get go you are greeted by a very enthusiastic front desk manager. I met Kam who gave me a tour and explained prices thoroughly.
I also met their Fitness Director Vanessa who is amazing. She took me through the most intense workout I’ve ever done in a long time and what’s cool is she explains exactly what I’m doing, where I’m feeling it and she even knows the history of certain things! Like do you guys know that machines in the gym were originally meant for doctor’s offices and just found its way to gyms coz they’re the safest route??? I sure didn’t!
She has a treasure trove of fitness information and she sure looks the part of director and kick ass trainer!

I wanted to share my experience at this LAFITNESS location as I was only in town for a week and went there everyday.
A guy named Dylan gave me a tour and he was very welcoming even if I was intimidated at first since I don’t live in VA.
He then introduced me to Vanessa the fitness director and boy! Let me tell you, that woman is a fitness rockstar! Not only does she look the part, she is probably the most knowledgeable trainer I have ever met in my life — bar none!
The most awesome thing about her though is that she is so down to earth and really encouraging about really pushing through my challenges and to keep going with my fitness journey.
I may have only stayed in VA for a week but the staff here really made an impact with me and it will always be a go-to gym every time I visit family.

This gym has declined significantly in quality. Maintenance is consistently neglected, and several machines have remained broken for months without any effort to repair them. When concerns are raised, staff deny how long the equipment has been out of order. Additionally, employees often appear more focused on socializing or using their phones than assisting members. It’s disappointing, and it’s no surprise that many people are choosing the Loudoun County Recreation Center less than a mile away.

Love going to La Fitness. Vanessa has been so helpful ensuring I had the best trainer for my medical concerns and is always available to help. Vanessa set me up with Dale and he has been an amazing trainer. Both Vanessa and Dale worked hard to create a program that would challenge me but not further injure me. My husband and I joined another gym a few months ago & stopped at the LA Fitness in Ashburn one day to take a look. Kameryn greeted us, took us for a tour and we immediately switched gyms!! He was so sweet and friendly. The facility has a sleek look to it. The jacuzzi is AMAZING after a good workout! My husband loves the steam room and infrared room in the men’s locker room. Most of the showers have actual doors on them instead of all shower curtains like our last gym. We had to work out a few things with our account and Dylan jumped in to help us with a huge smile. He was great! Then we met Vanessa who is now our personal trainer. She’s very thorough, helpful, caring and is taking the time to understand our injuries so she can make sure we get the most out of our workouts. Also, I don’t know her name but there is the sweetest girl that works at the front desk! She makes sure she greets you coming in or leaving, no matter what she’s doing. What else can I say? We’re very happy that we made the switch to the LA Fitness in Ashburn.

Slammed with kids that just take up equipment and don't actually workout while they just chat. I guess the pool will just be closed forever. Almost 2 years going to this gym and I have yet to see it open and my lady wants to swim but I guess their customer's wants aren't important. Paper towels are as thin as can be and just tear when you try to pull them out. Sanitation wipes almost always out at most stations. In the recent past a lot of equipment would just stay broken for weeks. I can't believe people actually pay the monthly for this place. Only reason I go is because my job pays for Gym Pass. I'm looking for a new gym with a pool that actually has it open. I'll gladly pay the monthly for a gym like that. This place is a joke.

The LA Fitness in Ashburn is truly a top-tier facility—spacious, incredibly clean, and always well-maintained. The equipment selection is outstanding, offering a huge variety of machines so there's never a long wait, even during peak hours. I was a member of this gym for a couple of years, but unfortunately, things have gone downhill. The facility is often dirty, and there isn’t enough equipment for lifting, so you end up waiting a lot or constantly adjusting your workout. The pricing is reasonable compared to other gyms, but they allow members to bring a guest for free with each visit, which makes the gym very crowded, especially during afternoon and evening hours after work/school.

THE WORST LA FITNESS IN NOVA! I have been to a many in the DMV area and this is my LEAST favorite. The facility is DISGUSTING! Standard gym - good value for the cost, it's cheap compared to many other gyms, it doesn't have many bells and whistles but lots of cardio equipment, a decent amount of weights and weight machines plus a cross training area.
The pool has been closed for years and doesn't seem like it will reopen anytime soon so if you're looking for lap lanes I would not join.
They also have group exercise rooms but limited classes.
I made the mistake of going in the evening once or twice but it was more of a teenage hangout and over crowded at that time but attending early morning or anytime throughout the day I've not had the issues, only peak evening times.

Terrible facility. Constantly out of order machines, the spa facilities (steam room, sauna, pool) continue to remain closed. There is nothing “signature” about this location, unless of course their signature is being a terrible gym. Go to the Fitness Equation in One Loudoun or South Riding. I’ve been a member at this gym for a few months now, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best I’ve ever been to.
When you first enter, you're struck by how spotless everything is. Everything is pristine and well-maintained, including the equipment and locker rooms. It's a very inviting and pleasant atmosphere.
Everyone is courteous and encouraging, regardless of your level of experience.
A particular thank you to SHUBHA, who always welcomes you with a kind grin and an upbeat outlook. It may not seem like much, but it sets the tone for the whole trip. You feel recognized and valued as a member because of her sincere warmth.

I have been a member for four years and for the most part am very satisfied. I enjoy the variety of exercise equipment and am a frequent user of the steam sauna for my aching bones. lol. I really appreciate the new manager’s (Shubha) approach to keeping the gym clean and functional. People can be slobs and inconsiderate about returning weights to the appropriate stacks, but I see the custodians Rodney and Norma working constantly to maintain the locker room, gym, etc in good condition.I was a frequent user of the pool when I was training for my sprint triathlon, and REALLY hope they re-open it soon (even with limited hours).

I’m really disappointed with the LA Fitness Signature Club in Ashburn. They’ve permanently closed the pool — which makes you question how this can still be called a “Signature” club. The spa area is in poor condition: dirty, full of bubbles (not in a good way), and has a strong unpleasant smell. On top of that, the hand dryer in the men’s locker room makes a loud, annoying noise and doesn’t even work properly. This location needs serious maintenance and doesn’t live up to the Signature standard.

I joined, knowing I may have difficulty using the gym. I have MS and wanted to use the pool. I caught Covid a few weeks after I signed up. My MS got worse. I continued to pay for a service I knee I couldn't use. I called requesting to cancel my membership. I was told I had to cancel in person, regardless of whether I could walk or not. It took me 16 months to make it in to cancel. Needless to say, the girl at reception said I didn't have to show to cancel. The manager is FOS. You do not have to cancel in person.

Dry Sauna has been out of order, as well as the pool. Apparently it has been that way for a while. Long before I started working out here.

Very dirty. Whirlpool/spa hasn’t been cleaned since I started working out here. You can literally see the build up on the edges of the spa. I made it a point to look at the sanitation sign every time I come in and the ph hasn’t been tested and updated since I started working out here.

Decent selection of work out equipment. Only thing that separates this gym from its competition is the amenities and they never work. $120 for the year for towels, yikes. Wish this review could’ve been more positive but the ball seems to be getting dropped pretty consistently per the other reviews.

Also there is a member that wears a shirt that talks about “whooping someone’s ass” for there political beliefs and has a problem with white people. Very classy.

Convenience is why I come here as I live within walking distance. However, this club is known for always having equipment out of order and cleaning wipes never refilled. Not sure who the service manager is, but it doesn’t seem like they care. The front desk is typically great though. Peak hours are from 4:30-8. Lots of annoying HS Kids who don’t put weight back. That’s another thing—no one really enforces safety. People come in with slippers, Uggs, slides, crocs etc. and 20 min on the cardio machine only? two stars for convenience and a decent workout when things work and it isn’t busy.

Worst gym in the Ashburn area. Very very small. Way to overpacked all the time, and not enough machines. The equipment is new and clean, but when machine are broken they stay broken for weeks. I used to be a member and since this location is a signature gym and included the towel service, when I rejoined a few weeks ago I naturally thought nothing has changed. To find out, the Pool has been out of service and the Sauna out of order for over a year and "NO towel" service included, they charged me $2 per towel or $10/month additional. This is kind of a bait and switch in my opinion....Management should really take notice to all these bad reviews and make some necessary changes. I’ve been a member of this gym for quite some time, and when I first joined, it was an excellent facility. The locker rooms were always clean, the machines were in great shape, and amenities like the swimming pool, sauna, and steam room were a huge plus. The staff were friendly and made the experience enjoyable.

However, things have drastically changed. The swimming pool and sauna are no longer available, and many of the machines are either broken or in poor condition. The cleanliness of the facility has also taken a hit, with the locker rooms and equipment often dirty. Despite these declines, the gym continues to charge the same high membership fees.

It’s really disappointing to see a place I once enjoyed deteriorate so much. I’ll be looking for another gym that values its members and keeps up with maintenance.

Not sure why you guys advertise and place out the 1 week guest passes when I can’t even use it. I was told I can’t redeem it since I had already redeemed a 3 day pass in the system. which was like 3 weeks ago. & the 1 week pass says nothing about a 3 day pass. I signed up for personal training and was told that if I canceled within 3 days I would get all my money back. I canceled 2 days later and was told I would receive my money back within 5 business days. After a week of not seeing my refund I talked to the staff again and was assured that I would get my money back in 5 business days. After another week of not seeing anything I talked to the manager of the gym and was promised again my money back within 5 business days.

After another week I called corporate and was told by corporate that they would reach back out to me soon. After yet another week of hearing nothing I called corporate again and explained the issue. The woman with corporate claimed my membership never got canceled and that I would need to pay half the money of my personal training fee to back out of personal training. While trying to explain to her the whole story she came back with a nasty attitude saying that I was lying to her and that I need to pay if I want to cancel.

I try going back to the gym to speak with the manager again where it took me multiple weeks to actually get in touch with him. When I finally speak with him he claimed he was under the impression that I already had the refund, but assured me once again that I would see my money back within 5 business days.

They have charged my card multiple times for training I never received and have been promised that the membership was canceled and that my money would be refunded. I have been dealing with this for months with still no end in sight. LA Fitness seems like they are just out to scam you out of money and do not care about their clientele. I do not recommend this gym to anyone. Not only do they not care about their clientele, the gym is always dirty and machines will stay broken for months before getting fixed.

The Gold's Gym on Red Rum Dr went out of business in 2021 due to poor management or something. Now, years later, the old Golds place is still just sitting there, dusty, empty, unrented. Guys, PLEASE expand. Expand to the old Golds, they had a basketball court!

Now I come to this LA fitness every day for 1 hour and spend half my time waiting for groups of highschoolers to stop hogging the equipment. How can I look over at your group of 5 using the bench press and see 0 people benching? How is this possible?

If you like compound lifts, good luck if you want to come here between 5-7pm. Here's what you can expect for wait times:
Squat rack (they have 3) - 15 minutes
Barbell bench (3) - 15 minutes. I'm going to lose my mind if I see another person doing a DUMBELL press at the BARBELL bench.
Pull-down machine (3) - 10 minutes

Ok, it's not all bad. This gym would be great if it weren't so busy. They have....
- Dumbbells in every 2.5 lb increment up to 52.5 lb
- A large green turf area (crowded after 5pm sadly)
- No shortage of plates, including many 2.5 lb plates. OneLife Brambleton, take notes!
- Free guests, so I can bring my mom and I don't have to pay $20 (ahem, OneLife Brambleton?)
- Generally a lot of nice machines, especially compared to the LAF in Sterling.
- Free classes

I am the type of gym goer that just shows up, uses the weights and machines and leaves. I don’t ever use amenities or even the bathroom while I’m there. However, the sauna, pool, and steam rooms being out of order for over a year makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off for a gym that charges $50 a month! On top of that. They only have 1 normal quad machine (A VERY POPULAR MACHINE) It has been out of order for 2 months now. The water from the water fountain always comes out warm. This is not a gym worth $50 a month.

Also, for the first 2 months they will call/text and badger you to try and pay for their personal trainer sessions even while having all their inclusive amenities out of order. Rip off

Im writing this email because I’m actually extremely upset… I have not been to this gym in over two years now. But for some reason I’m just now finding out on my Chase card that I hardly check because I only have a few bills on there that I’m getting charged $10 a month for this gym that I have canceled YEARS AGO!!!!! I am so upset it doesn’t even make sense. I’ll be filing a fraud and complaint for this location. There’s a reason I stopped coming a couple years ago and I’ve just been wasting money for years at this place. I’m so upset. I need someone to reach out to me right away to fix it before I report this location.

Perfectly fine place if you just want to use the gym. Do not get involved with the personal training staff, specifically Joe. They over charged me then lied to me when they said they had canceled the personal training. They then proceeded to charge me again.

Overall good gym, lots of cardio machines, but wish new machines were added. Been the same set up for a least a year now. Staff is super friendly, locker rooms are really nice. Pool is no longer open (😢) but they still have a hot tub, steam room and sauna(which hasn’t been functional for a while sadly). Gets crowded when college kids are home, but any time besides that it’s super open.

I really like the LA Fitness gyms, especially that there are 4 in my area I can go to so depending on my schedule, I have used all four. What will make me leave is if they don't open at least one more pool. One one of these 4 gyms has an open pool of only 3 lanes. They are so crowded you can't be sure to get a lane even at 5 am. Any they have aqua fitness classes and British Swim School that also cuts down on availability. It's ridiculous. I would have given 5 stars if more pools were open. Each gym has one but they closed over COVID, which made sense at the time. But we're passed that now so more pools should be opened.

This gym is a scam. Go to The Fitness Equation in One Loudoun for a gym that is actually clean, well maintained, and worth the membership fee.

*second edit* dropping to 1 star because they announced they were getting rid of the spa area (sauna, steam room, hot tub, and pool). That was literally the only thing making this place worth $50 a month. I cancelled. I have to imagine the plan to fully close this gym given that there will be a new Rec Center across the street soon.
*edit* dropping to two stars. I have been coming here for months 4 days a week. Every morning I’ve asked for a towel and have been given one without question. This morning I was told I would need to be charged for one because I “don’t have towel service on my account.” I wasn’t even offered that upon sign-up. And then out of nowhere you are going to enforce something you don’t actively ask you members if they want included? This place is a mess.

I’ve been going to this gym now for about 2 months and this place is barely keeping me around. I get my workouts in but not without a decent amount of adaptation as there only seems to be 2 of any type of machine. Best case, you have to wait for someone to finish their set or work in. Worst case, there is a pack of 4 to 5 teens standing around it taking turns and spending most of the time talking. A fair amount of machines are constantly marked “scheduled for maintenance” and there are only like 2 rope attachments for the entire cable section (one of which is fraying and about to break. As soon as I find a better alternative I’ll be canceling.

On Friday, May 17th, 2024, the gym was scheduled to open at 5 AM. However, at 5:36 AM, the doors remain locked and no staff are present. This lack of reliability is highly disappointing and demonstrates poor management practices.

The sauna has been out of service for nearly a year, and the swimming pool has been “removed”. Despite these significant reductions in amenities, clients are still being charged the same membership fee for a facility that is purportedly a Signature Club.

It has more equipment than Planet Fitness, but much dirtier than Planet Fitness and One Life Gym. As a former general manager for a gym.
Tips that LA Fitness can improve on,
The cleanliness of
1. lockers
2. treadmills
3. barbells
4. windows
5. dusting the yoga mate's room
6. the water dispenser machine always has a white guck. Please clean it
Equipment breaks down and takes a long time to get fixed.

Overall, treadmills are always open to use, and floors are always mopped. The morning staff is nice and smiling.

Worst gym in ashburn! I signed up because they had a sauna and steam room. I have weights at home but really like a steam after a workout. Fast forward 2 years later, they have not had a working steam or sauna in over 7 months. Every time I ask, “it’ll be fixed tomorrow.” Also, today they tried to charge me $2 for a small sweat towel. I have half a mind to call corporate and request refund for the past 6 months since they breached their contract, which includes access to a steam and sauna. Do not join here!

I've been a member for over 2 years. A gem early on, but this location has since become very crowded and a teen social hub at peak hours. I'd like to see more frequent equipment maintenance. Torn cushions, ripped handle covers, and broken machines will go unfixed for weeks, and sometimes months, at a time.

The gym is lax in maintenance. Steam room has stopped working for 6 months. And the only thing the front desk says is that we do not know when it will be fixed. 6 months is un acceptable. Other machines break and it takes weeks for them to get repaired. They charge a equipment fee on top of membership and the least u should expect is the equipment is maintained in a timely fashion and that is not the case. The treadmills are quite old now as well. The attachments.of the circuit machines are worn to the point of breaking but never gets replaced.

I’ve been a member on and off of LA fitness for many years and had recently just joined again because I was traveling and there were no LA fitness where I had been going. The reason for joining and especially the clubs near my own home is there are signature clubs available and yes I have a multi club membership to use. What I discovered when I went into the club especially Ashburn is that neither the steam room nor the sauna is working which is why I joined the club because of the facilities offers over such as Planet Fitness. I understand the maintenance is out of control of the club staff and manager however why would they even put the information on the website that they offer those services . I drove to this particular club further than I would normally go to acces these facilities.

Transparency on the website and especially when you go to sign up and you’re speaking with the membership counselors should be a part of every day operations as the rule not an exception.
Disappointed because had I had that same information in my business I know that I would hear and get bad reviews from my clients. At this point the club doesn’t do anything but offer a couple more machines and Planet Fitness. I certainly hope this would change into the future I’m not holding my breath.
I’m not telling anyone Weir did they should’ve should not join these clubs I am just voicing my opinion based on being a previous member and members of other gyms such as Planet Fitness, 24 hour fitness and Lifetime fitness.
