I have been a regular at the LifeSpa here at LifeTime Gainesville.

Recently, I haven’t been informed about the new change in policy prior to my appointment for my facial so I was stopped by the front desk to sign a waiver prior to going to the LifeSpa area.

I understand that it is policy recently being enforced regarding security issues and whatnot, however, the young lady at the front desk was not professional when it came to introducing me to this policy.

I was not able to get the name of the individual, but I just wanted to point out that she was not respectful in her tone when she explained and constantly repeated the same explanation without telling me from the beginning that it was a new change in policy prior to me asking her about it.

I am not sure if she has worked here for a while or is new to the facility, but I would like to ask that the faculty could be more approachable and respectful towards everyone regardless of the situation instead of raising their voices and causing more damage than needed to the issue at hand.

I’m having so much fun at the gym while rebuilding a strong frame and proving that hard work pays off. Lifetime is different & you feel it the second you walk in.

Training with Johnathan Smith has been a complete game changer for me. We’ve worked together for several months, and he’s helped me break through shoulder, hip, and back issues that had me stuck in pain for way too long.

I was devastated being diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, a rare form of arthritis where your joints fuse together and rapid stiffness occurs all over your body. Not to mention my injuries from full contact and combat sports.

Initially after my evaluation & goal setting, we started with stretching and basic mobility, and now we’re deep into high interval training, with mobility and conditioning. Every session hits.

All the trainers are solid, but I got the MVP. My trainer lets me complain when I am feeling stuck in a rut or can’t do an exercise, then helps me find real time solutions and alternatives so I can fix the problem and build the targeted area.

The Recovery Lounge is at no extra cost where you can use the compression boots, the massage chairs, the cryotherapy and massage guns as well. This stuff feels good on the days when you don’t even want to work out and just relax.

Also, the daycare squad is Elite. Our child wants to go every chance she gets. It’s hard to go to a gym when you have a kid after school every day. Problem solved!

They even offer date nights from 5 to 8 on Friday or Saturday… 🥁 and yes, you’re allowed to leave the building. That alone deserves five stars.

Plus, they offer tons of kids’ classes add activities at no extra cost, giving your little ones fun experiences while you get the time to decompress and build a lifestyle that actually lasts.

Not to mention the Lifetime Cafe, where you can get all the food and you can order on the go for your busy lifestyle on the way out of the gym for a healthy snack or meal.

We tried other gyms before, but nothing made us want to come back. It never felt worth the sacrifice. The culture here makes you want to level up every time you walk in. They accommodate your family so that you can live longer and healthier lifestyles.

If you want a gym that pushes you, supports you, and actually celebrates your wins, Lifetime Gainesville is it.

UPGRADE THE MACHINES
you make so much money from people you can’t get more glutes machines? Most machines are outdated, trainers are rude and will kick you off of machines for their client (female trainer did that to me last month), too many classes which you will also be kicked off of the squat racks and treadmills.

I have been a member of Lifetime for about three years now and I treasure my gym membership because of the variety of classes, equipment, amenities and the quality of people I have met here, whether they be other members, valuable instructors and other staff. I have recently had the pleasure of working with James Klein as my personal trainer. He has been an excellent communicator and has a passion for fitness and delivering results. James shows that I am not just another client, but that he cares and wants me to succeed. He is a walking example of weight training at its fineness while emphasizing that training alone will not satisfy your goals, sharing valuable knowledge and information on nutrition and supplementation based on facts/evidence of what your individual body needs. If there is a subject area he is not familiar with, he will engage subject matter experts to make sure he is giving the best information for you to meet your goals. While working with James I was also able to make quick progress with my squats, as far as form and weight. At the completion of my program he made sure to give me a game plan so that I could continue progressing on my own to my next goal. I look forward to working with him further in the future. I recommend anyone looking for results from a passionate and knowledgeable trainer, to search him out at Lifetime Fitness in Gainesville, VA.

Unfortunately, the way I was treated by the front desk employee was both unprofessional and unnecessarily hostile.

I arrived less than five minutes late with an active guest pass. Despite this, the front desk staff refused to allow me entry, stating I was late and then insisting my guest needed to be present. Multiple members witnessed the situation and even offered their own guest passes to me—to resolve the issue—but the situation was still unnecessarily escalated.

Rather than handling the matter respectfully, I was met with dismissive gestures instructing me to leave while I was in the middle of a conversation. When I requested the manager’s email, it was withheld at first, and I had to ask more than once before it was provided (when further writing the email to management, I was given the incorrect email address, I should not have to chase down information. As someone who has been both a member and an employee at this location, I have never experienced such unprofessional behavior from the front desk before.

I fully understand and respect club policies. However, what made this more concerning is that I have personally seen this same staff member allow others to enter without scanning in, coming in much later than I did, and even without guest passes. The inconsistency in enforcing policies, combined with the attitude I received, made this experience feel personal and unnecessarily embarrassing.

As I work to rejoin the club this type of treatment is deeply discouraging. I value Lifetime Fitness for its community and professionalism, but this interaction fell far below those standards. I hope that this matter is taken seriously, as no member or guest should be treated in this way.

These actions of the employee do not align with the mission statement whatsoever.

Josh at the front desk is unbelievably rude and clearly has no idea how to behave, especially toward women. His attitude is condescending, dismissive, and unprofessional, making you feel like you’re inconveniencing him just by walking in. It’s shocking that Lifetime Gym would allow someone like him to represent them at the front desk where first impressions are everything.

Josh needs a serious lesson in basic manners and customer service, and the management needs to step in immediately. If you want people to feel welcome at your gym, the last thing you need is someone who acts like he’s above everyone else and can’t even show simple respect. I would not recommend dealing with him if you value your time and dignity.

Lifetime Fitness in Gainesville is such a beautiful escape from the stress of everyday life. From the hot tub and steam sauna to basketball and pickleball, there’s something for everyone. This lifetime gym has completely lost its focus. After 5 PM, it turns into nothing more than a hangout spot for teenagers. Machines are constantly occupied, not for working out, but for sitting around, chatting, and taking selfies. It’s incredibly frustrating trying to get a proper workout in the evening. On top of that, the membership fees keep increasing with zero improvements to the facility or equipment. If you’re serious about fitness and want even an ounce of luxury, look elsewhere.

I usually don’t write reviews, but I feel obligated to share my recent experience at Lifetime Fitness in Gainesville due to the extremely unprofessional and disrespectful behavior of an employee named Josh.

From the moment I interacted with him, Josh was rude, dismissive, and acted as though helping customers was a burden. His tone was aggressive, and he made absolutely no effort to be polite or helpful. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially in a place like Lifetime Fitness, where members expect a high level of service and professionalism.

Josh lacks the basic customer service skills that are essential in any service-oriented environment—let alone a premium gym like Lifetime. If he doesn’t want to work with people, maybe he shouldn’t be in a position where interacting with customers is part of the job.

Lifetime Fitness markets itself as a luxury health club, but hiring staff like Josh who have a terrible attitude and show zero respect for members brings down the entire experience. If this is the kind of employee being allowed to represent the brand, it’s extremely disappointing.

I sincerely hope management takes this seriously. Staff at a place like Lifetime should be setting the standard for professionalism and positive customer interactions—not making members feel uncomfortable or unwelcome.

This facility has a communication issue. With no PRIOR notice the left side of the men’s shower area was closed off. A sign stating it was closed for tile repair 16 April until 23 April. From conversations with two different LTF employees they were given no notice either & just found out themselves.

Fast forward, today is April 24, the area mentioned is still closed off. AGAIN no notice!!! as to when the area would be reopened.

I am HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED in the failure to give some advance notice to the membership, BOTH times. I must also rely my AMAZEMENT that your staff was unaware as well, especially as one of that staff works in the locker area / shower area.

I really enjoy being a member at Gainesville Lifetime Fitness, but I’ve noticed that the library area is extremely cold. I’ve been there twice to work, and both times, I ended up getting sick due to how freezing it was. Today, I addressed this concern at the reception, hoping they could adjust the temperature to a reasonable level (around 72°F), but unfortunately, nothing changed.

Even while wearing warm layers—including a sweater, big jacket, and pajama pants—I was still freezing. I love using the library space, but the cold temperature makes it unbearable and uncomfortable. I hope the management can address this issue so members can work comfortably without risking their health. Thank you

There are more amenities here than at any other gym , but many are under constant renovation/repair. You can expect a major disruption every couple months. Last time, the steam sauna was closed for 3 weeks for re-tiling. Now, the showers in the men's lockerrom have been shut down for the past week (with no sign of opening up anytime soon).

Even worse, the price increases are outrageous. Dues are 60% more than when I first joined 5 years ago. And the increases are across the board, on all the "extras" they offer. They're still packed with members, so it seems the plan is to increase prices until people begin canceling their memberships.

What a joke of a gym. I went to go get a trial day pass to check it out and was informed it was $50 to be able to come in and see it … no free trial or tour. I wouldn’t buy a car unless I could drive it , and definitely wouldn’t spend almost $200 a month on a gym membership unless I could check it out for free first. Plenty of other nice gyms in the area for cheaper I suppose!

The gym is obviously very nice with a variety of equipment, classes, pool, salon, childcare and cafe. I never felt comfortable there though and despite working out for several months, very few of the trainers ever said hi or got to know me. It was very impersonal compared to other gyms I’ve joined before. The class schedule varies day to day, so what class works for you on Tuesday might not work for you any other day of the week.

The icing on the cake for me was getting made fun by a personal trainer behind my back. I was stretching and warming up with mini bands (legs, hips, glutes were all tight after having a baby). I initially braced myself with my right hand on the counter. I was initially facing away from the “welcome” desk, then turned around to brace with my left hand as I switched to stretching my right side. The personal trainer was making wildly exaggerated motions of my same stretches with a mocking face, but stopped immediately when he realized I had turned around. His coworker (another trainer that had been trying to sell me $800/month training sessions) signaled him to stop and he fumbled for a second and then they both looked away as if nothing happened. I was so shocked, embarrassed and most of all, disheartened. It was hard enough going to the gym after having a really difficult postpartum journey and a colicky baby that wouldn’t give me a moment’s peace at home. Now the only time I had to myself as a new mom was also tainted by some immature “bro” at the gym. 10/10 do not recommend unless you’re looking for the Instagram gym life experience.

As a founding member of Lifetime Gainesville, I want to express my concerns about the current state of the gym. The cleanliness has significantly declined; associates are not properly maintaining the shower rooms, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, or towels. The locker rooms are also dirty. Let me just say, I had a family membership.
Main workout floor: Husband loves weights but it's always packed after work hours and did not want to compete with teens trying to show off to a bunch of girls...

Classes: classes were fantastic - favs were barbell, HIIT, cycling, and some of the yoga offerings. The only issue I had was the popular classes were only scheduled around 10am and 530pm. If you have a family, classes were hard to get to and ended up with hangry kids by leaving them in kids academy. Everything ends up being packed so if you didn't plan on signing up for class either, you won't get a spot as all the classes require you to preregister before class.

Aquatics: 10 stars, but they really need to retain their swim coaches. We rotated through 7 different teachers and could not progress very well overall due to the teachers not knowing where the kids were in progression and just kept repeating. Otherwise when they did have a great teacher they were stellar.

Locker rooms: hit and miss... Men's locker rooms I hear are just smelly and not very well maintained. Women's is kept pretty well. Family on the other hand is terrible. Not that it's all LTs fault, but the families leave towels everywhere and should clean up after themselves too.

Kids academy: first year into our membership they were fantastic. No issues with staff, run super well. This past year, I've noticed the staff do not step in for issues w the kids. Classes we sign up the kids for are cancelled last minute and kids just have free play. Same for parents night out. There's themes on the app and I specifically sign up for the ones that seem like fun, but my kids say it's just normal Kids academy with free play. Barely anything themed was done.

Cafe: only half the food is decent. The cafe manager has a serious pretentious attitude with the customers, even to the extent of arguing what they ordered is wrong. It's sad to say I've avoided her on purpose many times as she keeps entering the order incorrectly.

Workspace: it's pretty zen and decent place to work. Some people squat in the phone rooms, but other than that this has to be the best place in the entire gym.

Chiropractor: I tried to book an appointment, they had a new doctor coming in and they wouldn't take patients that wanted to utilize insurance.

Overall it's is a great place geared towards moms with kids. But way over priced as they keep hiking the fees every year.

If you want to do a human study on segregation, elitism, & power tripping, go visit the pickleball courts. The instructor single handedly picks who is good enough to play and who with. I’ve seen him turn away children with their fathers, again, turn away a child with their father bc they weren’t “good enough” to play with a plastic ball and paddle with the other “pros” on the court. A gym should be about encouraging members to be Better, not degrade them bc a staff member thinks they know better (who loses plenty of games by lower ranks, btw). Not to mention the exorbitant fees the membership costs, to be turned down is criminal. This is an issue in Fairfax as well. The most elite mentality I’ve ever seen, and I have plenty of witnesses to testify their experience as well. Lawsuit waiting to happen.

Great facilities and staff but the students there to socialize slow up the working professionals. This facility would be 4 stars at least if they addressed the extended use of phone by mostly students, especially in the early afternoon hours. Introduce a program to eliminate the use of cell phones and the socializing instead using the equipment.

UPDATE (December/2023)-My membership was cancelled this month. It went up to $144 a month which is to expensive. The bathrooms are horrible, not maintained and no improvement with people on the phones while other must wait for the equipment. Go between 430-7PM, super crowded and no chance of completing a normal workout. For anyone just wanting to lift weights or walk a treadmill, this is a waste of money!

Not what it used to be a few years ago. Too many people, gets crowded, way too many classes that take up space, machines, and racks at the busiest times, and newer/younger staff is lazy and mannerless. And not to much the rates are going up every year but I don't see many upgrades or changes. The new racks this year were nice but charging all your members $20-40 bucks more per month should cover more than just those racks.

If you only join Lifetime for weightlifting like I did then I do not recommend joining this gym since you'll be paying an exorbitant amount for a bunch of amenities you don't use, and you can hardly use the stuff you want to use (the lifting equipment).

I been a member for over 20 years now and I love coming to this gym however I was very disappointed when I visited the Gainesville location. I remember this facility being very clean and neat when they first opened but now there’s towels all over the bathroom floors, no staff to clean the bathrooms, toilet papers were out. I thought this gym was suppose to be “luxury gym”. I hope the services can improve cause the monthly fees haven’t been dropping.

The weight room lacks basic equipment despite plenty of space on the second floor that could be used to house the standards. The squat racks are awkwardly facing each each other (not to mention the lack of mirrors when using a squat rack). Each facility has inconsistent equipment - for example the Ashburn and Centreville location both have multiple ab sled machines while Gainesville does not. These inconsistencies are throughout the gym and don’t meet the expected standards that should come with a nearly $179/month membership (Gainesville), vs $129 at Centerville.

Not the best place for someone who likes basketball. 1 of 2 basketball courts was transitioned to a full time pickleball setup, but unlike the pickleball setup at Centreville, Gainesvilles is permanent and is never removed (allowing Centreville to open up an extra 1/2 - 1 basketball court at times). This creates congestion or unavailability and eliminates any possibility for a full court pickup game. There are sometimes 20+ people playing basketball while maybe 8 people are enjoying pickleball on the other “basketball” court. Lifetime Gainesville constantly rents out the only available court for league use to players who are not membership holders - and do so without posting the schedule for membership holders to see and schedule around. (For reference - today is Friday June 2nd and the basketball courts have been unavailable Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week).

All in all, the location is very clean and nice to look at and the staff is extremely nice/helpful, but the overall facility could do better.

I’ve been a member for four years and generally have no complaints except the monthly fee. Over the course of my membership, classes that were part of the membership all of a sudden were not, forcing you to up your monthly fee to stay in the same classes. I’m a senior citizen and would really love to see some sort of senior discount.

I became a member in February of this year to have access to the Pickleball courts. My membership included this and I was as able to use the courts.
Suddenly without any notice I heard through the grapevine that I now had to upgrade my membership with an additional cost to use the courts.
I received no notification of this change from Lifetime. There was no time given to upgrade and I still can’t find anything on line to indicate the additional cost.
This whole situation was poorly handled by the facility. If they are going to implement price hikes in the future without any notice, I am not certain that I want to continue my membership.

Great facilities, but a few details keep it from being 5 star. The blow dryers are cheap and take too long to dry hair. A couple times towels were empty by the pool. Wet wipes for equipment on 2nd floor would occasionally be empty. Just minor things that could be fixed with better attention to detail. They need more dumbbells at the lower weights (50lbs and lower). Please setup more lower weight dumbbells because they all get taken up.

Their Steam Sauna is the best and in-door kids pool and out door pool is worth paying membership for. You can also drop you kids for activities while you work out at 2’d floor fitness center. High membership fee but it pays out. I recommend family membership if you have kids.

How did you guys review this gym when it's not even open yet?!?!

I signed up before the gym opened and before covid hit, and the only other LT location I'd been to was Centreville, which was 24h at the time. Covid ruined that, but whatever I guess. So, I was expecting their location to also be 24h and it wasn't, which is fine because they didn't actually promise that. but their cafe got my order wrong literally every time I ate there until I just gave up and stopped going. The rest of the gym is exactly what you'd expect, but at first was intensely busy all the time (I assume because it's a new location and people were excited about it) and eventually it got emptier and you could actually work out without having to wait a long time for a bench or something. The class schedule leaves something to be desired, and the instructors I think weren't used to such a large class because there's a difference in the instructor's comfort while teaching compared to Centreville's classes. With any LT location, it's been really hit or miss with personal trainers, the only one I've found who's actually knowledgeable was at Fairfax. Good luck with your fitness goals everyone. I hope this helps.

This club is incredible, my favorite life time location!

I just recently joined and was pleasantly surprised by the staff, equipment and layout.

With my schedule, the time I workout is scattered, however even during peak hours it is never too busy to efficiently and effectively get a workout in.

Kaylee went above and beyond to ensure all my questions were answered and that I was happy with my decision to join. 10/10 will always refer to friends and family.

I’ve been a member at lifetime on and off for years at other locations. I normally go during high volume times due to my schedule. The Gainesville location was filled with high school kids goofing around and sitting on machines doing nothing but chatting with friends and eating snacks. The staff did nothing and where also hanging out with them and talking. I made a point to say something to a staff member and nothing happened.

Later in the locker room the same thing happened where staff members where just clearly hanging out with their friends talking while people where trying to get by and use their lockers.

The facilities are gorgeous and new but clearly this location does not care to maintain a professional and welcoming environment.

The facility is great but the sales team cultivated by corporate is shady. They require a month’s notice before closing an account which has taken my family and I multiple attempts talking to several sales reps over a month’s span. They’ve auto charged my credit card on several occasions unbeknownst to me when I’ve been off the account for over a year. When I call them to ask for a credit back to my account they told me “it will take some time” even though they acknowledge I am no longer a member. It’s clear the sales team’s customer service ends once they sell you a membership and they will do anything they can to “forget” to close an account.

My nephew was denied by Chris at the front desk because it was 9:20pm est and the visitor pass can only be used before 9pm EST. I work afternoons and leave work at 8pm; when I got my diamond membership I didn’t have to deal with any rep…so I don’t understand how I will be able to use my visitor pass, If those have such restrictions?? 40min on car to be denied access, what’s the point of paying $150 a month for one person? There is something called “empathy” and Chris from lifetime doesn’t have that…

Today I went to cafeteria to buy a water with my phone cause my wallet’s left at locker. The barman said they don’t accept Apple Pay, and my lifetime app didn’t work for paying then. I wanted to go grab the wallet, then he said that’s fine and told me, don’t forget pay at front desk when leaving. So I went to front desk, a guy with black shirt there said”No you can’t pay here only at cafeteria...” I said”ok plz check my app, I am gonna pay with app.” When I was showing phone to him. He said “excuse you” then he grabbed the scanner scanned barcode on phone. I was like :0. To wasting my time and good mood for arguing loudly at front desk, I prefer leaving comments here for reminding. It seems I am not good at English with an Asian face, but at least I got know that words expressing that guy is being so rude and unprofessional as a “front face”of lifetime. Finally, I took my wallet and paid at cafeteria. Two stars are for the barman.

Joined the year it opened. My experience was so poor I had to cancel my membership. I was so excited for the kids classes so I could drop off my child then workout. My extremely outgoing child was hurt the first day. They made no big deal about it. They couldn't even show me where she was hurt. After that she hated going back. I tried like 3 more times. One time I came back 10 minutes later to look in the window and see my child crying right next to the employee with her hands stretched begging to be picked up. The instructor just was standing there. I walked in and got her. In my opinion the young kids hired were not really trained for young kids. Like 3 year olds. Only for older kids. This place seems so ideal. I just can't bring myself to give money to a place so lacsidaisical with children

Associate Kailey in the front entrance was extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout our experience at Lifetime fitness. We had a lot of questions since the changes and different packages but Kailey was very detailed and patient with us. Me and my husband decided to try out Lifetime and although I’ve been to Lifetime before he hasn’t and I wanted to show him how great it was. Although the price is a bit on the heavy side it is very well worth it. Especially with Kailey explaining the package and the inclusive. She was truly amazing and we can’t wait to join!

My family and I have been coming to this location for about two years and we love it. I used to go to the Reston location which is Onyx level (higher). Quite honestly not sure what the difference is because Gainesville checks all boxes that Reston has. I would encourage Gainesville to continue to keep the facility clean as it’s been through Covid, it’s amazing and makes us feel much more comfortable while working out.
Personally, I use the spa for nails, massage, and facials and enjoy all the services. For me it’s all about convenience and being able to book appointments through the app. Nice to have everything all under one roof.
I’ve recently been working with a trainer and although expensive it’s been worth every penny for what my goals are. My trainer is Jaime and she’s been flexible in working with my schedule and is extremely knowledgeable in working with to me obtain my goals.
The front desk ladies are so nice and welcoming, always smiling and greet us by out names. It’s an expensive gym but has a lot to offer and we are very happy it’s in Gainesville.
