I've been a Lifetime member at the Centreville location for the past two years. Since I started working in Ashburn, I wanted to use the Sterling location to avoid traffic. The Centreville office informed me it would cost an extra $10 monthly to add Sterling to my membership.

When I went to the Sterling location to add it to my membership, the front desk representative told me it would be $20 for the first month ($10 for the one-time fee plus $10 monthly) and then $10 monthly thereafter. However, when I got home, I discovered they had charged me $40.

The next day, I questioned the same representative about the $40 charge. She then claimed it was because adding Sterling location would increase my monthly fee by $30, plus the $10 fee. She denied telling me earlier that it would only be $10 monthly. When I asked to cancel the Sterling addition, she said I would still have to pay the higher amount every month.

Left with no choice, I had to cancel my membership. Lifetime Fitness is overcharging its members, and I would never recommend anyone join their gym.

I had an intro session with Jason, and he was amazing! He took the time to really understand my fitness goals, history, and any limitations I have. He was super knowledgeable, professional, and encouraging the entire time. I appreciated how he explained everything clearly — from form to muscle engagement — and made me feel comfortable while still pushing me to do my best. You can tell he genuinely cares about helping people improve and reach their goals. I left the session feeling motivated, confident, and excited to keep going. Highly recommend Jason to anyone looking for a great trainer at Lifetime!

I love coming here to workout but I the people in the salon are so suspicious I just see workers stealing products and putting it in their bags taking it home which is so crazy to me that the own workers in the salon are literally getting away with stealing products.

I LOVE this gym! Plenty of space, superior equipment, and an awesome staff. They offer many classes at all times of the day and each one is challenging and fun. The best part though is the personal trainers. I worked with Katie Dunn and she was amazing. She created a program for me that has completely reshaped my body and she taught me about nutrition on a plan that I can actually stick with. Thank you Lifetime!

Zero star. Long-time member, very disappointed.

I’ve used multiple Life Time locations for years and I’m not picky—rush hour messes and the occasional upkeep lapse come with the territory. What shocked me at the Ashburn club was the Lead General’s Mr Hale's hands-off approach to real customer problems and constant absence from the facility.

In May 2025, after a work relocation and my spouse’s surgery, we asked—multiple times in person—for a suspension or cancellation. Account Services had told us we could visit the club to take care of it. Despite that, we were billed June–August with no usage, then charged again in September (our son visited, unaware we’d requested a hold). When I raised this, the response was essentially: we’ll cancel now, but no refund without written proof, even though we followed their own in-person process.

In the richest county in the U.S., this club charges top-dollar while many members use it sporadically—a bonanza for corporate when billing issues aren’t fixed.

Advice: If you need a hold for illness or work, triple-confirm in writing and watch your autopay like a hawk. After this experience, I’m taking my business elsewhere.

I’ve been training with Daniel, and I’m truly impressed by their personalized approach. He designs workouts that perfectly match the needs you may have - whether it’s improving mobility, building strength in a specific area, or preparing for a particular activity.

Each session feels purposeful and tailored, never generic. Dan is attentive to form and always explains how each movement supports better performance and mobility in everyday life. I’ve noticed real progress not just in strength, but in how easily I move and recover.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a trainer who listens, adapts, and helps you reach your goals safely and effectively.

It's a good club. I'm giving it 3 stars, because the simple fact that they still haven't scraped up this disgusting hard loogie that's been in the co-ed sauna in pool area for the past 5 years.
-----------------------------------------
Update
It only took 6 years, but they replaced the co-ed sauna finally and got rid of that nasty loogie. I will bump one start up next time Address issues quicker.
-----------------------------------------
Update 2025
Seems like everything is flowing smoothly, I will say when things break (machines and steam room) they seem to fix them quicker. I wish they would clean the steam room out a few times a day it is getting pretty gross.

I recently had the pleasure of discovering a fantastic gym that has truly exceeded my expectations. Initially, I was attending a well-regarded fitness center, but its distance from my home became a challenge. Upon finding this new location, I can confidently say that I have no regrets.

The gym boasts an impressive array of equipment, catering to various workout preferences. The highlight for me has been the pools, which are not only aesthetically pleasing but also provide an excellent space for both relaxation and intense training. Additionally, the on-site café enhances the overall experience, offering a selection of healthy smoothies and nutritious meals that align perfectly with my dietary preferences.

Convenience is a major factor in my satisfaction; the proximity of this gym means I can easily fit my workouts into my daily routine without the burden of long commutes. This has significantly contributed to my overall happiness and motivation to maintain a consistent fitness regimen.

In summary, this gym offers a well-rounded experience with top-notch facilities, a welcoming atmosphere, and the convenience that modern fitness enthusiasts seek. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comprehensive fitness solution that prioritizes both physical health and overall well-being. IOVE IT ❤️

I went to Life Time to add my dad to my membership and had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had.

When I arrived, the front desk staff was helping me just fine—until Marelle, who identified herself as a “manager” (though her badge said “Team Lead”), stepped in. She immediately told me I couldn’t add anyone because I already had three people on my account. I explained multiple times that I only have two people on my account and pay for only two. Instead of checking properly, she kept arguing with me, wasting my time, and making me feel like I was wrong about my own billing.

After I finally said I’d just come back tomorrow, she told me she was going to put a note in my system that only she could make changes to my account. That’s not just rude—it felt like she was trying to block me from getting help from anyone else.

When I came back and showed her my statement proving I was right, then she finally wanted to help. But by that point, I had no interest in working with her because of how unprofessional and dismissive she had been.

A manager—or even a team lead—should be trying to help customers, not arguing with them, wasting their time, or making them feel disrespected. Marelle did the opposite and ruined my entire morning. Honestly, the other staff member was doing a great job until she got involved.

I was very disappointed with my first visit here. The gym was not clean at all—dirty towels were left around, used wet wipes were scattered across the floor, and there were clumps of hair on the shower floor. For a facility that charges $200 a month, I expected much higher standards of cleanliness. Definitely not worth the price.

The Steam Room has been out of service on Fridays and Saturdays, which is frustrating since it’s the main reason I pay for my membership. I count on using it at least twice a week. I switched from Method Club Gym, which had the same type of equipment and similar classes, but was much cleaner and half the price.

I’m also disappointed with the cleanliness of the shower area, as there’s often a noticeable amount of hair on the floor. I understand it’s challenging to maintain, but it’s becoming a consistent issue. Now, with the Steam Room frequently closed, the only reason I’m staying is for my Hot Yoga Warrior class on Mondays.

I hope the club can return to its previous high standards, or I fear more members will start canceling their memberships. I’ve trying going to the Centreville one, but their Room it’s a horrible as Planet Fitness.

I've been a member at Life Time in Sterling for over two years, and it has truly been one of the best investments in my health and well-being. The facility is spacious, clean, and well-equipped—but what has made the biggest difference in my experience is working with Dynamic Personal Trainer, Katie Dunn.

Training with Katie for the past two years has been nothing short of life-changing. She's incredibly knowledgeable, motivating, and attentive to both form and progress. Katie took the time to understand my goals, created tailored programs, and helped me push past limitations I didn’t think I could overcome. Her passion for fitness and commitment to her clients is evident in every session.

If you’re looking for a trainer who will challenge you, support you, and celebrate your growth, Katie is it. I’m stronger, more confident, and more consistent thanks to her guidance. My goal was to build muscle and strength, Katie will tailor a plan to help you meet your goals. I can’t recommend her—and Life Time Sterling—highly enough.

Worst management and staff. Their family locker rooms are a walkthrough for male employees and no privacy for modest family and kids in their swim attire. Lockers rooms are dirty, or atleast not up to the standard that they charge their members for. The overall atmosphere is toxic. It is because their General manager is toxic. When a business is operated by a toxic GM, everyone else would be the same.

This review is for Veronica at LifeSpa

Finding the right hairstylist can be a challenge, especially after moving to a new area. After a long search in Ashburn, I’m so happy to of found Veronica! She is truly the best at what she does especially when it comes to caring for Black hair. Every time I leave her chair, my hair looks exactly how I envisioned it.

Veronica is professional and has an incredible eye for detail. I’ve had everything from silk presses to sew-ins, ponytails, and color, and she nails it every single time. Plus, she genuinely cares about the health of my hair, which is so important to me.

I’m really grateful to have found her. If you’re looking for a stylist who can bring your hair goals to life, look no further—book with Veronica!!

We really like it here. All the trainers seem nice. Love that there is a pool, sauna, and steam room. The food from the cafe is yummy. My only complaint is that the showers aren't that clean..but there are blow dryers and nice locker rooms. There is also a family locker room available for parents that have children of a different gender. The family locker room has a passcode that is given only to these particular parents, so there aren't alot of random people walking around or undressing while you're changing your kids.

There are some great things about this gym. Indoor pool, kids area, steam sauna etc. However, every few weeks the front desk has a brain fade and I've to go through our membership details all over again. As others have pointed out, depending on the day, the front desk member can be quite rude or confrontational. Seems like a simple problem, but it does appear that their new staff members don't get adequate training on how to check accounts with kids. At this price point, we shouldn't be bracing ourselves when entering the doors.

Squat racks are great and there's lots of equipment for every type of workout. If there were a better gym in the area for this price point, I'd quit this simply because their customer service is below par. 3/5 overall.

Still like the pools, but they are unresponsive to complaints/concerns, and prices just go up/ change with little warning. Reston club was 'upgraded'..it is essentially just like Ashburn except Ashburn hasn't made all of their promised improvements, and despite having access when I started at club, now I don't..unless I want to spend more $. I've been complaining about the earth of pilates instructors since I started there, but they haven't addressed this shortcoming. Its good..I spend my money on this elsewhere so their loss. Came to celebrate my friend’s child birthday. That was the ONLY great party at this location. (I can say about this place!)

When entering, counter guy (only one person there) was eager to assist the young lady behind us instead of us who was next in line. Asked where to go for the party. Was assisted at the entrance door, but couldn’t get in without the code (took a hot min for the employee to figure that out! 😩)

All having fun….. until my child got injured while swimming over to the edge to get out of the way from the slide exit. I approached the life guard asking what happen to my child. The life guard on duty at that post at the time of incident said “ I thought it was clear. So I gave a thumbs up!” My child got hit in the head. You’re a life guard, you should have not thought! You should have made sure. You put my child in DANGER!

Asked to speak to the supervisor, as walking away, a member, verbally lashed at me saying “Oh lady, get over it!” First of all, you as a grown man to yell at me for something that has nothing to do with you, STOP and grow up to mind your own business, and if your not going to help, stay out of it CHILD! You either don’t have children or if you do they must be scared of you!

My child was put in danger by an employee at this location (lifeguard didn’t do his job!) A guest (ME) was yelled at by a member (an adult acting like a CHILD), who has NO RESPECT for others. When ask by the supervisor to me “how to make it right”, I asked for the adult acting like a child to apologies to me and my daughter sincerely. They didn’t say or do anything. Why bother to ask in the first place?! So even the supervisor/manager doesn’t take charge of their peers/co-workers. (Basically I think no-one wants to admit the wrong doings!) There should be a mandatory once a month training for all of the employees there! (But I guess they’re too lazy.)

I don’t feel safe for my children and myself. Also was very disrespected by a member to a non member guest. This is my opinion, truth and only mines. I would never recommend this location and will NEVER come back. (Hence see some of the other recent reviews! Don’t be surprised.)

Zero stars for this unethical club. The leadership and the employees are equally unethical and super rude and indecent. You know when any organization and place that has a poor leadership and management, everyone else and their services will be also down the drain. Before expressing this review, me and my family was using Lifetime gym for more then 10 years. One of the employees have verbally harassed my 3 children, ages 10, 6, and 2, with vulgar words and they have humiliated and harassed my wife verbally as well. If I could leave a 0/5 I would I have been a member since 2019 and the prices have doubled since then and the quality has dropped more then it has improved with higher costs. For instance the temperature between the sauna and lifting area is almost the same, the levels of humidity in this gym are unreasonably high especially during the summer. The sauna and steam room spend more time under “maintenance” then they do in active use, the gym back in 2019 was a lot better the quality and services actually made sense for a while until they hiked the prices and plummeted in quality. I’m fine with the basketball courts being converted into pickle ball the only downside is the fact that I have to wait 20 minutes to 30 minutes to get a game going and can’t just hop on to an empty court and need a reservation.

They ended up letting go of the person later on after doing and “investigation”. My whole family left after the incident and the staff was very insensitive. I was the only one who wanted to continue using the gym so when I spoke to one the staff members about the situation. They offer $140 per month for me alone. Wow, what an experience, albeit a mediocre-to-bad one ! I went and toured this facility and I had the immediate displeasure of being escorted by the very indignant and disgruntled black gentleman who had been working at the front desk when I arrived. On the bright side, the facility was clean and well-equipped and it struck me that anyone could feel good working out here; however, when I remarked that I was most interested in the yoga and cycling classes, the gentleman touring me immediately remarked back that “it’s not all about the classes”, a curt thing to say that he also didn’t care to expand on, but I conceded. The remainder of tour was agreeable but, when I asked if there were any military discounts available because my wife and I are veterans, he said “that’s a very bad word, I don’t do discounts here no”. I’m not sure about anyone else, but I was taken aback and offended by his response and he made me feel as though I should have denigrated myself for asking. Anyways, the facility is great, management needs review and perhaps a lesson in social etiquette.

The absolute, worst, awkward, and most uncomfortable experience I’ve ever had in my life dealing with Lifetime fitness. I dealt with Billy kozlowski After waiting in the lobby for 25 minutes for him to finally come down, I had to stand at the front desk and have a membership discussion with him because apparently he doesn’t have an office or they don’t use their offices anymore. So as I’m talking over people that are walking in and everybody else standing in the lobby trying to understand the membership rates. He is totally out of it and brushing me off as if he almost did not want me to join the club. I was confused as to what his job was. So finally when I’m figuring it’s best for me to leave. I ask him for a business card they take 10 minutes looking around for a business card just totally unprofessional I’ve never seen Lifetime conduct business like this.

As a gym they have all the things you need, but so does planet fitness, so does crunch fitness. When evaluating these premium health clubs such as lifetime I always viewed one of their main benefits as being able play basketball on a quality court whenever I wanted. The sauna, spa, pool, etc. most other gyms provide, especially for the egregious price point of lifetime. 24 hours access to a basketball court? Harder to find than you might think.

All this to say, this lifetime (and I suspect more to follow) has gotten rid of their basketball courts in favor of Pickleball courts. Literally the courts have been fully converted, basketball hoops removed, etc. I get it, pickleball is hot, and more people are playing it rn, and the basketball courts probably weren't used as much as the pickleball courts. Why not just leave it at 1 court for basketball and 1 court for pickleball as it was.

The club used to be solid, now the management doesn’t really care about all communities. Now has more of a “country club” vibe. Stephen has chosen to abandon the basketball community in order of hopes in increasing membership. This was done by adding pickle ball courts and eliminating basketball. There was plenty of room for both. The management provided a bunch of lip service to explain his reasoning, but it’s evident they care about one thing !
Lifetime did not consult its customers before removing all the amenities designed for actual athletes, teens, kids and families.

My post-pandemic membership price almost doubled. This gym is also overcrowded at any time of the day, whether it's 4 am or 10 pm. As if that's not enough, one of the things that irritates me the most is some members occupying multiple pieces of equipment while you're waiting to use them. Another ridiculous thing is that Lifetime plays super loud DJ music all day long at the outdoor pool every weekend. It's almost impossible to stay there and get some rest. For instance, last weekend I couldn't even stay for 10 minutes due to the loud music. Even my advanced noise-canceling Sony headphones couldn't help me. Honestly, I'm wondering if Lifetime intentionally does this to discourage people from staying longer. When I asked the person in charge of the music to lower the volume, he said he was hired for the day to play it that loud, so he couldn't change it. In summary, this gym is definitely not worth your $120 per month. I will update my review if they fix these issues.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of encountering a gym coach Daniela F, who completely lacked basic manners and professionalism. This review aims to shed light on the discourteous behavior and unaccommodating attitude. I was 5 minutes late to my 6pm Alpha Strength class. She refused to allow me to workout when I tried to explain to her why I was late. She kept arguing with me in front of other members on why I cannot join the class. I understand if a member is constantly late but this was my first time arriving late and she would not allow me to join the class, until after going back and forth she responded "fine you win." At this point I felt so uncomfortable being in the class. We pay high membership fees for this class to just be treated so condescending that this bitter experience has deferred me from joining her class. I have never had any experience like this with any other coaches except her. Daniela's rudeness, and unprofessional demeanor created an unwelcoming atmosphere and made me feel unwelcome hope the management takes this feedback constructively and ensures that all coaches embody the values of respect, professionalism, and empathy towards their clients. As a customer, I deserve to be treated with dignity and to receive the support needed to reach my fitness goals.

The Lifetime Sterling is a really nice and relaxing place to visit. It's located away from the busy traffic and noise of Fairfax County, which makes it a peaceful place to go. The staff are very friendly and professional, and they make you feel welcomed.

If you visit in the afternoon between 5-7pm, there's usually enough space to do what you want to do. There's also a kids center with a great team who not only offer child care, but also structured classes to help kids learn social and mental skills.

If you're interested in spa services or swimming, there's a full service spa and an indoor/outdoor pool with many amenities. Whether you want to focus on your fitness or just relax, the Sterling Lifetime is a great place to go.

I am really frustrated about pool area in particular , there’s a guy that come and get in the pool with his slippers ( not swim shoes), some member get in the pool swimming not wearing proper swim garments. I tried couple of times to bring my concern up to management but you could see the push back with no sense .
I did get sick couple of time after swimming there .
Honestly I need someone to reach out to me and take care this .

This gym is my favorite part of coming into the area. I kept a membership open commuting from the Bay Area last year. I'm just in town this time for family things, and it's still my favorite part of the trip. Special thanks to Samir and the desk staff.

It has been one year since I have become a member at Lifetime Ashburn location and today I formally cancelled my membership. Mainly due to the increase of $50 from April 1st. The new change includes $229 for dual membership, and no other changes. No thank you!
In addition, my initial impression from this facility remains the same: there is a lack of professionalism from the majority of the staff members, and discrimination from couple of them, ideal equipment, excellent amenities, and you will always find parking. I’ve made my choice, thank you for making it easier.

OMG, the price is ⬆️$179. No one will pay $179 . Planet fitness $20, LA fitness 39 to $50, one life fitness the same . All gyms have the same type of equipment , so why pay too much money. There are lots of gyms in the area with really reasonable and affordable prices.

The gym is great but the atmosphere has been negatively impacted by individuals setting up cameras and spending excessive amounts of time recording for social media. Additionally, there have been instances of people running around the gym as if it were an obstacle course. Overall, the gym is still fantastic but some changes are needed to maintain a positive atmosphere.

I loved this gym, good equipment, clean, I spent hours here. That being said the big firing of the trainers and the removal of the basketball court without any option of members having input into that decision was a deal breaker. Moved to another new facility.

PROS: 1). Fantastic kids academy! The people taking care of your kids are the best. Great programs to keep the kids moving. 2). Very nice and helpful trainers. 3). Good group fitness classes. CONS: The facility is always in a maintenance mode. 1). Outdoors pool broken for 10 days in July. 2). Steam room renovations for 4 weeks in August forcing a swap of locker rooms. 3). Head trainer firing in September resulting in the loss of several enthusiastic trainers along with numerous members. 4). Construction of Pickleball court in October resulting in the closure of the entire gym for 4 weeks. 5). One or the other spa in pool areas is always closed for maintenance. 6). Maybe they will close the indoors pools for a couple of weeks in November for scraping. TBD

I used to love this gym and didn't mind the cost. It had great equipment and amazing basketball courts. But now one of the courts has been removed and replaced with pickleball courts. So it got me to thinking what happens in the summer when they are running Camps for the kids...They usually took over the one of the basketball courts, so now what? So I might be able to play basketball really early in the morning when they open and maybe right before they close? That doesn't work for my family. The worst part was there was no email discussing what was happening. Showed up one day and saw it was under construction and that was that. I am beyond disappointed. I have belonged to Lifetime for many years and the basketball courts are what originally sold me. I know I am not the only one disappointed by this.

This is an overdue review that would've been 5 stars for having great classes led by passionate and motivating group fitness instructors like Jessica K. and Amanda S.. Just yesterday, however, Dawn the Group Fitness Director, has been let go for reasons unknown. Dawn has made great strides in providing support and sense of community-- enough for instructors to say that they're not sure if they'll return for classes beyond this week if Dawn is not brought back.

I attend 3-4 group fitness classes regularly every week-- it has been a great way to shed pandemic weight, get my confidence back, and feel stronger with each class. This is being threatened with an unpopular decision to let a key member of their team go.

LT Ashburn/Sterling, please fix this-- it would otherwise greatly diminish the value your members derive from paying as much as we do for membership. We can go anywhere else for just cardio and weight lifting equipment-- it's your people that make a difference.

The oasis of fitness and rest. It is spacious and doesn’t feel crowded even if there are a lot of club members on the floor. It has everything a person might need to stay active and rest after a good workout session. There are many great classes to choose from, different equipment, saunas, pools, and a cafe. The hair and nail salon on the premises is also a nice addition. I haven’t tried the salon yet though. For me, it is the first fitness place I want to be back again and again.

I love this fitness place but lately as a visitor I'm not satisfied with their services like the phone service in the locker room wasn't working, they were out of plastic bags, and there was only one worker I saw it was working and he wasn't even around. Also, the steam and suana room was out of order, and they've switch the lockers room. Since the phone wasn't working, I had to dress up and talk to the person on front desk to request for service. I feel like I'm paying over too much for this membership. They need to fix this problem.

Update: I spoke with Lifetime today. The place and people are good. With COVID they basically scheduled the best they could. Unfortunately for those limited hours did not work for my family. It doesn’t change the good amount of money I paid for stuff that wasn’t available for me. They offered to let me keep my current rate for more stuff that is still not open enough for us partake.
I really recommend looking at the schedule if it works for you it’s a great place. My rating is more reflective of limitations of a business decision while still charging a premium.
I appreciate Jamar speaking with me today and changed the review to 3 stars but it still does not change the money I paid versus what we got in return.
The gym is really nice as a place. However the amenities they sell have limited availability and hours. For the premium they charge the kids club hours should be better. The rock climbing wall should be open more. The kid pool hour limitations are not very good. They give you lifetime bucks that’s really limited on what you can buy. So paying for stuff you can’t use is 2 stars worthy.

This is hands down the BEST fitness center or gym I've ever been a member of. Numerous pools, a very wide array of workout equipment, saunas and steam rooms, and a great (albeit pricey) healthy-ish food cafe. The staff is what really makes this place stand out though. Most of them are very friendly and welcoming. They keep everyone in a positive atmosphere which, as scientific research has demonstrated, leads to GAINZ BRO. Try it out!
