Decent gym for a good price. A lot bigger than we initially thought from the exterior. Large cardio area with plenty of treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals even during peak hours (around 6pm). Yes, some of the machines are dated, but overall a very clean and organized gym.

A decent, adequate place. Only have been twice, not my regular neighborhood. Very nice and helpful front desk staff. It's the only Planet Fitness I've been to, also, so I don't completely understand their equipment. I think it's a great place to work out, I mean if you want to work out and be healthy and in a positive environment, it's as good as any.
There weren't many exercise mats for if you want to do floor work/ stretching, or just sit-ups: anything not on a machine. Maybe in the free-weights area there's space but not to lie on a mat.
There's just some space along the half-wall that separates the treadmills and such. I guess that's where you can do floor work. I guess it's enough!
Probably some other Planet Fitnesses are bigger.
The equipment was decent. There were some cool machines, like a thing for glutes in which you stand and push one leg back (great! Although I could target that area better without the machine, tho maybe I wasn't doing it right).
There's all the usual equipment, too. Some good ab machines -- but the ones you lie down on and pull the thing up with your hands/shoulders while you crunch was impossible for a petite woman as there's no adjustment for size.
Lockers are good; seemed sort of gloomy but maybe it's just all the purple! It's a good neighborhood place.

One of worst Gym with worst Mangment. When I got membership, asked me for two payments method. After a while, I noticed the Gym charged my Bank Account regularly, and charged my credit card too. When I asked the front desk, they told that didn't see any extra charges. I presented my credit card statement, but they didn't refund my funds. One of the employee told me to see the manager, but I never succeeded to meet her during the two months. They told me, the manager hours from 09:00am to 05:00pm. When called during that hours, she was never been in the Gym. On the next month, they charged my both payments method again, and I came to the Gym with different hours to see the manager and solve the issue, but never see her hidden face. Finally, I ended my membership because I don't want to charge my account with no reason.

I come very early morning, and the staff is always alert and attentive. There's always a good morning from every person on staff. I always see them cleaning. The older, Black gentleman that works overnights predominantly over the weekend and into the beginning of the week is the best with cleaning. You can tell when he's worked because the shower stalls, floors, toilets (including the lids), and the insides of the lockers are cleaned to the max! You can see it and smell it. I am so thankful that this gym is so clean and the staff is so methodical about ensuring the gym is clean. I also noted to them that someone overnight comes in and leaves almost half a ton of weights on the machines, making it cumbersome to remove. I am sure they either identified the individual and made sure he removed his weights, or they do it themselves. That is very kind of them to watch out for the members.

I go often with my friends or just myself and honestly its a solid gym. Obviously it won’t be perfect but has about everything a gym could need while it staying spacious, clean, and welcoming. This Planet Fitness location is open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. It has more cardio equipment, larger free weight section, more benches and is an overall bigger facility than other Planets in the area.

The facility is relatively clean but the front half of the gym constantly smells like fried food because it's next door to a sports bar.

This gym is more of a "basement unit" so there are no windows nor natural light. In addition, reception can be spotty or slow in the facility.

This gym offers free weights, weight machines, bench presses, various cardio equipment and a black card member perks.

This place is a disgraceful and seriously unsafe! Staff overnight are no better than management who lies about looking into serious issues for loyal gym members. Just moved to the area with multiple PL locations, so visiting each one to find my home base.

Equipment: standard configuration of cardio/strength/stretching areas. Equipment isn't brand new, but not old either, and most were in working condition (maybe 1 out of 20 machines were out of order). Several machines had significant wear

Building: lots of outside parking, but can fill up on a busy day. The pace inside is long and narrow, but the machines are spaced out enough for easy walking in-between (except to the woman's bathroom, too narrow). However airflow in the middle was not existent due to poor design/no fans.

Black card area was nice, missing the flat bed hydro massage machines.

Saturday morning and had a disappointing experience with the front desk staff. When I walked in, the employee, whom I later learned was named Najay, simply stared at me without greeting me. I informed her that I didn’t have my key tag and needed a replacement, to which she immediately responded, “Oh, we don’t do that here,” without offering any alternatives or assistance.

I then asked if she could look up my account using my phone number. The first number I provided was incorrect, and her immediate response was, “I’m not going to argue with you. You can go ahead.” I made it clear that I wasn’t trying to argue—I was just trying to confirm my account status. She eventually searched by my name and found my account, but when I asked her to confirm the phone number, she did so with a smirking, dismissive attitude.

The gym itself is decent—nothing exceptional but serviceable. However, the unprofessional and unnecessarily rude treatment I received from the staff left a negative impression. I will likely not return to this location, as customer service matters just as much as the facility itself. I strongly recommend better hiring and training practices to ensure that staff treat members with basic courtesy and professionalism.

I was in the gym in Alexandria tonight ( at 8pm)with intent to join but stumbled upon very unfriendly guy with long hair, at the front desk. I explained that I just moved from Florida and would be happy to try out the new gym, and potentially sign up. He was extremely rude and would let me in. When I finally turn around, he was so happy to go back to texting and that I apparently interrupted. For the management of this gym:you just lost one potential member for hiring the guy like this, and who knows how many more.. Very sad ! Would not recommend going there. You deserve better gym!

Clean and friendly. Nothing like the gyms of my youth. I'm also giving this place an extra star because of price. My wife is a member but also she pays 250 a month at another gym.
This is not for professional body builders although the equipment is very good there isn't stacks and stacks of 45lbs plates. There is enough but if you want to bench more than 315 you will need to look around for plates. At my age it's perfect. Saw people my age and felt welcomed. Machines have gotten better so I don't even use free weights here and it's actually easier and i like that . Parking is abundant.

I've been a member of this PF for 4 years now. It has been steadily improving over the years. New machines, better layout, more timely restocking of the paper towels, and timely repairs to broken machines. Ever since AJ has come onboard I have noticed a marked improvement! AJ is always cleaning machines, mopping, etc. His dog, Jax, is so sweet and awesome! He should totally be allowed to greet customers at the front desk! So I’m a regular member at this planet fitness, I consider most of people in this gym like a family, but last night was horrible experience for me, last night I wasn’t there to workout and I was using restroom being a black card member,as I’m a regular member when leaving I meet some friends and they chat you up for like a 2 min chat how’s work and everything , and this lady working at the gym cancelled my membership with the reason “ Out of uniform” if I’m out of uniform please share the video of me even touching the equipment as if I’m going to use it ! , I’m having here back issue and I can’t even walk properly, you can see the video of me entering around 11pm or 11.10pm , if my body language says I can workout !, It’s a disgrace and I feel sad while writing this review , but I think regular people like me that create a family environment at the gym need to be treated well and not rudely ! Also the same lady keeps bringing up 12th November issue when I was Harassed by 3 planet fitness members and rather not looking at the issue in details, she brings that topic up every time she can as if she’s doing me a favor letting my membership up “also legal action was taken on the guy that harassed me” so you know who was at fault and so I want to reach out to the manager and the owner that always keep up the board for new people to hire ! Horrible gym. I have been getting charged twice per month. When I ask for help to get it fixed they tell me to call ABC fitness connection and then I call them and they tell me I have to talk to the gym staff. Once I go and try to speak with the manager she is not there or is there and does not want to help. Mia Peterson is the Club manager but I can not ever get a hold of her. The staff do not help at all. I had to cancel my membership because I don’t want to keep getting charged twice. I do not recommend this gym. They like to steal your money.

I am beyond disappointed and shocked by the behavior of a Planet Fitness employee tonight, which led us to cancel my girlfriend's membership immediately. Planet Fitness has already faced controversies, but what happened tonight is truly absurd and unacceptable.

Around 7:40 PM at the Alexandria location, an African American male employee singled out a customer and interrogated her over a skeleton graphic on her t-shirt. What should have been a simple moment at the gym turned into a full-blown confrontation, where the employee not only questioned her attire but demanded she change her shirt to work out. The employee became uncomfortably close to her, pointing and even touching her shirt while questioning her. This level of unprofessionalism is completely out of line and crosses many boundaries.

I personally apologized to this customer on behalf of Planet Fitness, as she should never have had to experience such an ordeal in what is supposed to be a "Judgment-Free Zone." This environment is meant to be welcoming and inclusive, and this employee's behavior was a complete violation of that mission.

I urge corporate management to review the security camera footage around 7:40 PM and witness this incident firsthand. This level of intimidation is unacceptable, and the situation calls for immediate action to ensure such behavior does not repeat itself.

I certainly plan to escalate this problem.

The biggest issues don't have to do with the gym itself. Parking is horrendous, always full even if the gym isn't. Maybe renters of the apartments nearby use it? And gym etiquette - you will not find it here. Maybe I have high standards but I think a bench should be used for a workout, not to place your phone and water bottle

For the most part, I have enjoyed this location because it is closest to my home. There have been some minor annoyances, usually related to no working Wi-Fi and four TVs set on the Home Shopping Network (the parking situation has gotten better, I think the shopping center is towing apartment parkers). However, the reason why I’m giving a three star review is due to the new elliptical machines. When I came in today for a cardio workout, I tried one of them and was instantly disappointed. First of all, it feels like it’s going to fall over, they shake and don’t feel sturdy when you are on them. Second of all, these definitely have more of a vertical movement rather than a horizontal movement. For someone who is overweight, trying to get the best low-impact cardio possible, these were not nearly as comfortable on my knees - it hurt! After about 10 minutes trying to acclimate I gave up, and I drove to the Hayfield PF location. The elliptical machines there are much more comfortable and I had a great workout.

Thanks for your response. I have talked to the front desk several times over the past couple of years regarding the annoyances (parking, no WiFi, TVs on weird channels). In regards to the new elliptical machines, I'm not sure talking to management would make a difference at this point, unless you all are considering buying more machines that operate differently. This is such a disappointing planet fitness. Despite it being very small compared to other planet fitness locations in the area, its main downfall is that their machines are consistently broken. And if they are not broken, they are extremely difficult to work with. Also, a lot of the weight machines have super torn up padded seats. In general this place needs a huge upgrade. The lighting and everything in here is dark and dingy. I probably won’t be coming back until they get new machines. The pentagon mall location is a further drive, but I enjoy working out there so much more.

I have been coming to this location for a little over 2 years now. There was a situation that I encountered today with someone who has been banned from the gym Prior for taking pictures of women. This morning the same person came back in the gym and started taking photos of women including myself. He was reported again but nothing can really be done. This place is tore up from the floor up. I know they did renovations about two years ago, but that was on the locker room. The machines need a serious update. You have a planet fitness that’s literally less than 5 miles away with machines that are not rusted and keep track of your time.

There are literally broken down or ran down machines here that people are using NOT SAFE.

The ceiling is leaking so they have rags placed everywhere to catch the water.

Someone clipped my lock, broke into my locker, and stole my wallet, keys, sunglasses and Jansport backpack. I didn't have any cash so they did not get anything. I have lived all over America and been a member of several gyms. This was my first time at Planet Fitness and I lasted about 3 weeks before I got robbed. Also they don't have barbells which was annoying. I suspect they don't trust their members to have them. Bottom line: you get what you pay for. I tried to save money and got robbed. Worst and most run-down PF location I have seen so far. It's a pity because it's one of the very few that is open 24/7, I came to check it out since the one in Falls Church does ridiculous hours during the weekend, but it really feels nasty to workout here (and I am in the army..) finding a pair of matching dumbells is like a treasure hunt, people leave dirty paper towels on the floor, I saw one guy putting the dumbells on the floor instead of re-racking, maybe it's custom doing that here 🤷‍♂️. Showers are dirty as well.

I travel alot and use various PF, this is the 1st time I've seen 30 minute area actually blocked off. EXCELLENT. This is the area I love and most PF don't do this, and it makes using this room frustrating. This was excellent.

Planet Fitness of Alexandria Kenmore Ave is absolute rubbish. It's very dirty and dark, like a grave. The people managing it are incredibly unprofessional; since I first saw it, I never wanted to go back. For almost a year, they've been deducting money automatically from my account, putting me in a contract without explaining it. When I visited, the staff were very unprofessional, and there was a bad smell around. One guy started behaving unprofessionally towards me. The next day, when I called, they said my membership was in the process of cancellation, yet they've still been deducting money from my account for two months. It's a shame that they misguide their clients.

High volume gym and lots of worn out torn equipment. Also there was a homeless person sleeping on the couch in the black card area and when I asked about it they just told me her name like it was normal.

Planet Fitness has been my go to for awhile and I am not disappointed at all. I recommend everyone to atleast give it a try

Look, as someone who has been a stranger to a gym I'm not looking for someplace with every bell and whistle. I want a comfortable location, easy access, available machines, and to feel like the place is clean and safe. Guess what? Not only does this location pass that test but you get a few bells and whistles included at a reasonable price.

For someone getting into fitness again, this was a great choice.

It’s reliably and consistently clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the equipment is always in pretty good shape (given that there is a lot of equipment). Also, the cost continues to be very affordable which is extremely important to seniors like myself.

I'm here visiting for a week from Colorado. This Planet Fitness is just like the other ones I've been to: there's lots of people, but it's not too busy. It's clean. And it's got decent air conditioning.

People.dont put wts back, stay on machines too long. Lots of geu ting and wt dropping. Pros-big facility with lots of machines.
