I just rejoined as a member of this location and wow, what a difference with all the improvements they have made over the past year. I used to frequently wait on equipment to become available, and it’s just felt like there were some things missing. Not anymore. It’s a “real” gym now. They added what seems like double the weight training equipment, and added some actual free weight racks for deadlift, squat etc; much more leg equipment now overall and the layout is much more intuitive. Great experience coming back

The staff was wonderful. The place is so so clean. There has been this annoying gum spot on the floor for awhile now. Old management was very inviting , creating an environment to workout in but the new manager makes me fear for my personal safety. Spastic when confronted about paper and soap in bathroom outages. I GOT BANNED FOR 30 DAYS FOR COMPLAINING ABOUT THESE OUTAGES. I gave up on trying to get the ellipticals made safer with leveling them. Dont need to get banned permanently for speaking truths. I miss Rick and Allie.

What a changed in less than one month!

We have a new manager! Another little blonde but amazing! Dani is kind and caring and sweet and cares more about this location and her employees and members than herself.

If there is any issue it is dealt with swiftly and quietly.

There are no more enforced weird rules used to bully and push members out. There is no more bullying members by staff at any level. The entire atmosphere here changed day 1 of Dani and not even 30 days in this place is peaceful and restful and a healthy place to workout.

Thank you, Dani, for all the steps and things you have done to fix this place! I never want to leave. I was getting ready to, but I’m staying because of you! Planet Fitness, give Dani a raise! ♥️

Oh wow! How I love this place! Planet Fitness by Wegmans, is wonderful. In the past about 3 weeks I have LOVED coming here! Dani the new manager is so kind and empathetic and the whole atmosphere has changed!

I actually enjoy working out now and look forward to coming in!

The whole staff is kind and learns your name and asks questions about your life and remembers important things about your life.

This place is like Cheers, everybody knows your name and they are happy to see you.

You could workout anywhere, but why would you, when you could workout in a place that is kind and loving and peaceful‽ Choose PF Wegmans and be cared about by the staff and members.

I regularly come here to work out and there have been two separate times where they have evacuated every single person out of the gym with police at the door and offered no explanation why. Not only is it super annoying that you have to leave mid-workout but also is it safe to be there??

Update: I left this original review several months ago but feel the need to give another update. This planet fitness’ water fountains have literally been broken for 4 days. No water bottle filling station, no drinking fountain, no water even in the sinks in the bathroom. Having water at a gym is not too much to ask, this is truly ridiculous. Taking another star away

Want to start with that i love the staff. They are welcoming and always pleasant. Also love the upgrades!
But..come on, the conditions in the men's restroom is so unacceptable 😑 weekends the showers are so bad! They are not cleaned at all. The same crap is there from Friday till Monday. Hair every where. Very unsanitary! Maybe it's time to start taking pictures and posting them online. If you can't get someone to clean them regularly, then hire a cleaning crew!

One of my friends was harrassed by a staff member, I spoke with the gm allie and she blew my friend off like it wasnt even a big deal. Pretty disappointing that a Gm wouldnt take something like that seriously. Like a bone head I accidentally joined the Charlottesville location when I live in waynesboro. I called the Charlottesville location for assistance in transferring to the correct location and was met by the brightest personality I’ve come across in quite awhile! Allie was able to help over the phone and put the biggest smile on my face with her positivity alone! I want to give this place 5 stars because the staff is nice and the place is generally clean. And, of course, the price is low. But there are a couple things that detract from the experience. They let groups of teens wearing jeans, crocs, flip flops, etc in. And those groups hog rooms and machines to socialize, but barely work out. If they would just enforce the dress code that already exists, that would solve half this place’s problem. There’s always broken machines that go weeks without being fixed. And they need to stop gym bros from claiming 2/3 different machines at the same time by leaving their stuff on them.

We've been black card members for nearly 2 years and visit nearly every single day. I'm VERY disappointed in the new set-up. There's no flow/logic to the machine positions. Change is difficult, but can be a positive. This is not!

The recent changes at the gym are amazing all the new equipment looks great!

I was actually considering canceling my membership because of the lack of certain training equipment, especially for leg day. But now, the new squat rack is a game changer I love it!

However, the only issue is that people are using the squat rack for bench pressing, even though we already have enough Smith machines for chest exercises.

I hope the management can address this, maybe by adding a sign to encourage using the squat rack primarily for leg workouts.

I LOVED this location before the "renovation ". It's now a gym catering to weight lifters. The appeal of PF WAS its non intimidating environment. They removed the 30 minute circuit room and all of the basic equipment. The setup up is cluttered and offers plenty of places to trip/fall or run into someone. Very disappointed in the "improvements". I will likely cancel my membership and find another gym.

I went to the gym to cancel my membership in January, processed it with a team member. My adult daughter belongs to this gym as of recently. Went to visit her from out of town on March 25 and 26th, while I was there, she asked me to join her for her workoutat this planet fitness, in the afternoon both days. I did not personally work out, just stood around with her so that we could visit while she did her usual workouts. But I wanted to note that my experience both visits was extremely impressive! The staff were amazing, friendly, helpful, professional, everything you could want at a gym. The entire place was neat, tidy, clean as a whistle! The equipment was also incredible, everything was in perfect working order, clean, smooth, and there were plenty of offerings, and several of each particular machines so that there was no waiting around for others to finish up. I belong to a gym that I go to regularly in my hometown, and it doesn't hold a candle to how great this planet fitness is! Rubbing salt in the wound, my gym costs more than twice as much per month 😩 So, bottom line, just wanted to give a big shout out to this amazing facility and its wonderful staff!

Planet Fitness changed my life. Lynette inspired me to put down the bagels, and pick up the dumbbells.

I was insecure when I first had to bench press with the women’s bar, but Lynette encouraged me to push through. Her coaching inspired me. I can proudly say that I can now bench 135lbs for 4 reps. I’ve also managed to get my single mile PR down to 9:30 through the use of their immaculately clean cardiovascular machinery.

By far one of the best Planet Fitness I’ve ever visited. I come in during my lunch hour Every day and am greeted by name with a big smile everytime. Jack, Lynette and Ellie are always hard at work to make sure the gym and all the machines are clean and ready to go for the members.

Not to mention they deliver Top-notch customer service I always feel like family whenever I come in they know me and always have my tanning readily available Before I even walk through the door.

They also recently added new Weight training machines, which I love. And they have four laydown and two stand up tanning machines at all times ready to go. I have been meaning to post this for a while now About my visit I had a little over a month ago at the Charlottesville Planet Fitness. I travel a lot and have been to a lot of gyms, And this location was by far the cleanest and most organized gym I’ve ever seen. Not only was the gym clean, but my first impression of the staff immediately made me feel that this was a happy place. There were 3 or 4 staff at the desk and they were all doing one big group hug, laughing and smiling. This of course made me smile because this is something that you don’t see a lot of anymore in workplace, HAPPY EMPLOYEES! I first spoke with Kim, who was very sweet and registered me and pointed me in the direction I needed to go. When I couldn’t find a piece of equipment another young gentleman with sandy blonde hair helped me locate the piece of equipment I needed. The environment was so upbeat, and I could see that the members all had their own type of bond/friendship with the staff. There was one staff member, who I believe was the manager of the place, Loretta or Lynn, and she was more than kind. Not only did she help answer my questions, but she also told me about some places to visit while I was in town. I talked to her for some time, and somehow we got on the topic of how my husband had been struggling with his health. The empathy she showed me still bring tears to my eyes. I hope this Planet Fitness realizes and appreciates what an amazing manager and leader they have, you can’t replicate someone like that nor the other employees I met.

Okay if you want a cheap place to workout and are not looking for a legit Bodybuilder or strong lifter style gym. At times it is very over crowded especially when teens workout free during summer (A good concept, but it should only be certain times and days to allow paying members to utilize freely what they pay for). Lots of people use the equipment as recliners to text on. Lunk alarm is a weird concept dont believe they do not use it anymore but, we should encourage good workouts and fitness not discourage it this way. Heaven forbid you grunt and actually pump weight instead of texting out a pump. I think the new owner may be a lot better then the previous on these things. We regularly use the gym because of the lower cost and location but, at times just leave because of the crowds that text on the equipment. Again I think the new owner may be doing better, we will see. My advice for them would be, put up signs about actually working out on equipment vs texting on it, also if we enforce a dress code make women follow it also not just the guys, have a real trainer or 2 employed at the gym so they actually know gym things and can assist and maybe even repair things.

Wow! I can't say I've ever walked into a planet fitness and seen it looking like the way I have when I walked into this one, I've seen clean Planet fitness locations, but this one is definitely top notch, My first stop was the stair masters and Man those were just sticking out because of how clean they were! Then I went too look over the treadmills, and other cardio equipment because as an employee it's just a natural instinct of line to compare cleanliness and what not to how my gym looks and I can't say I've ever seen a gym look this spotless before because wow! Even after we deep clean at my Gym in Illinois it still looks dusty no matter how many times we clean it! So, props to this gyms staff and keep up the excellent work thank you, this is what I want Members to come in and see at the gym I work at! GREAT JOB STAFF MEMBERS AND THANK YOU! I GUESS Even though there is no way a gym will ever be perfect this definitely looks pretty damn close to it!

I accidentally left my necklace in my locker. This is one of my most prized possessions. After I realized I wasn’t wearing it, I called the front desk. I spoke to McKenneth, explained my situation, and asked that he checked the locker I used. HE FOUND IT!! !McKenneth assured me he would leave it at lost & found with my name on it and it would be there waiting for me the next time I came to work out. He’s my hero. Excellent customer service. PROMOTE IMMEDIATELY!!! Thanks McKenneth, and thanks Planet Fitness Charlottesville!!!

$50 annual and $10 per month every 17th.
Cool. Can I work out with no complaints tho?
I need a gym that ain't so double standard. Woman walk in with sports bras and stomachs out. Men can't. Men can't show their stomach tho... People should mind their business. 90% of people keep headphones on.... If you minded yourself then you'll never notice what others are doing to enjoy themselves. After all I've done fo zr this country along with my father's, we still get looked at like aliens. I've been had enough of liberty and freedom going down hill. I'll be looking for another gym now. It's wrong to allow one thing for others and not all who support the business. I never complain on others either. Double standards are ruining my workouts. I use to like being here. Now I'm seeing people don't like my personality as usual. Oh well. I'm enjoying myself too much to even notice all the hatred in the room. This why I don't do crowds unless it's an event I host. Be nice if I can get the $50 back. I'll put it towards finding a more equal gym with less complaing. Just a warning to those who wanna join but don't see what they are getting into before they even start. Gotta be silent or hide in the corners before you get complained on. Never dropped weights on purpose. Didn't think I make more noise than anyone else doing the same things also.
It's like being in school again.
About as bad as jail.
Let people enjoy themselves or lose another customer.

Clean, and plenty of options. I’m a black card member so I also used the tanning bed today. All the machines worked and it felt like a great atmosphere.
