Tried joining online and it requires a checking account. Called the number on their site which matches the Google.com number to inquire about it and was only given a pre-recorded message about new memberships and then hung up on with no option to talk to a real person. Drove in so I could see how I could get a membership set up and was told that without using a checking account I won't be able to sign up.

I used to work at a gym and I do know that the checking account is standard practice as it protects the gym more than the member but I do know that using a credit card is usually an option so I'm a bit disappointed that they are inflexible.

i always go to this gym with my son around 6-8pm. theres a group of males that hog the cables and whatever machine they are on for hours at a time. i subscribed the planet fitness for the judgement free zone and equal rights. hogging a machine wherever your friends go is not fair and they make obnoxious remarks in spanish disturbing the peace of the gym.

This location is clean, friendly and accommodating. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I actually joined this location rather than the one closer to my home because of the staff. They are constantly keeping the place clean, emptying garbage pails, cleaning equipment, bathrooms and doors. They all greet you as soon as you enter and the same when you leave for the day. I felt welcome from day one.

Worst customer service for a "no judgement zone" gym. Workers constantly having side conversations, eating and on their phones at the front desk. Never a smiling face or seemingly happy to be there. Not very motivating for customers with anxiety or struggle to get into the gym. Today's trip no one said hello or goodbye. Very thankful the new Crunch location just opened in Central Park. No matter what time of the day I go. There is one gentleman who constantly has a smiling face, and is very welcoming. Sometimes it's hard to just walk into the gym on a hard day after work, and I feel like an inconvenience to them every time I walk in. Please do better!

For the price, planet fitness is unbeatable. And for the crew and employees? Unbeatable aswell. I often many planet fitness gyms but this one i enjoy the most. Last time i was here i was checked in by chris and even stayed to continue conversations with the employees, all were very nice and a great way to end my workout. Not often do i hold conversations with strangers but Chris was one of the most kind and welcoming employees i have ever met anywhere and very helpful. 1.Check in was long.
2.They closed down the area where the massage chairs and Relaxation zone are. Totally black and turned off. Machines and lights. The person said they would need to turn on the machines first to warm up so let them know if we want to use them.
Im paying for black card membership (higher price)to use these.
3.super loud. All the tvs were running. I read that we could use bluetooth to listen so under rhe impression we wouldn't have this noise pollution. Its awful all tvs going off at once. How are you suppose to isolate a TV and listen to instructions etc or enjoy! You cant.
4. Crowd meter doesnt work. It showed 1 mark. That means minimal people. There were 25 to 30 people working out. 6-8 checking in including us. It was and was getting quite crowded. Certainly shouldn't be a 1 on the crowd meter.
5. Machines weren't being wiped down. I saw someone clothes/butt print on one of the seats.
These things have to be addressed or we are quiting our membership. These things are very remedied amd totally unnecessary.

6-27-25 update: wife & I Hlhaven't been back since last year, they've updated the equipment but unfortunately cleanliness in the bathrooms & both locker rooms has gone down dramatically. We were there for a few days working out and each day was very dirty, they don't clean the showers. Showers bathrooms, should be going in there at least every half hour since it's being used continuously by hundreds of people. People. They need to stiff up their game

They can't control the outside of the building but they definitely can the inside and they do a phenomenal job. It was a great first experience. My daughter and I came in to this gym for the first time and didn't feel pressured or self conscious. It was her first ever gym experience and she loved it so much she didn't want to leave. Can't wait to come back. Update** still enjoy but not worth the money, and they need to re-educate customers, in here today alone, I came across 3 separate customers that don't clean the machines after they used them and even with the staff making their rounds, they were too busy talking to each other about anything but gym stuff to even notice. I think I'm going to change my membership from black to another gym anywhere else, it's not worth the money anymore.

this planet fitness is my absolute favorite location! the machines are significaly newer (and nicer) than the other planet fitness locations in the Fredericksburg area. I started my membership here and even though I've visited other locations, this one is my absolute favorite, and the nicest one BY FAR! shout-out to my main man Rich!! awesome guy, super friendly, love chatting with him every time I come here! WARNING DO NOT SIGN UP HERE

This is a warning to anyone thinking about signing up here. Don't do it. If Planet Fitness is the only gym in your area and you have no other options, please make sure you get your home gym changed to not this location.

We signed up about 2 years ago for a membership and have been fighting to cancel it as of recently. See we have since moved out of state and signed up to another gym that is much closer than our local Planet Fitness. When we call to cancel, they tell us we need to come in. When we come in (to our local one, keep in mind we are no longer in VA), they tell us they cannot cancel it since this is not our home gym. Fair enough.

So we call our home gym (this exact one here dear reader that you are considering) and they tell us EVERY SINGLE TIME, they are unable to change our home gym because "the wi-fi is not working" and to call back later. I'm understanding, I get it. The problem is, this is the same excuse they give us every single time (4 times now). We just got hit with another charge because they refuse to change our home gym location and they refuse to assist us in cancelling.

For the employees working here who may read this, yes we have called our bank and reported fraud as well as opened up a police report. We are seriously considering legal action as well.

In the middle of my workout I was told by a worker that the manger said that my crocs weren’t allowed because of no straps. Then when I walk up to the manger and she says it was because my toes aren’t covered. The Manger was just trying to cover her ass because she hasn’t notice I have worn the same shoes for 2 months to the same gym. I honestly feel like the manger just wanted a reason. The manger wouldn’t even allow me to finish my workout with a warning. Why would the straps of my crocs matter if I’m doing back & arms. I wasn’t running or using my legs for that to matter. Thankfully I am moving, I had to cancel my membership anyway but I’m very disappointed that’s the way it went about.

I have never been treated the way I was treated tonight by an employee. My husband and I have been members for 4 years and we have used all the amenities at planet fitness has to offer with no problem. I just join this gym a few weeks ago they charged me 15 dollers and I have a bank statement that confirms this I went to the gym scanned my bar code and they told me I owed money I ask why wasn’t I stop before if this was the case they had no explanation cause no one at this place know what they are doing I asked I’ll come back tomorrow to pay for the 15 they said I owe I called the next day to pay, the planet fitness employee answered the phone and asked them I’m called so I can pay a balance she goes on to tell me that the balance is 30 dollars???? If this gym is having problems collecting gym fees from members with delinquent accounts, management should address this problem with those members. Instead they want all members to provide a credit card in addition to the debit card that was provided for payment at the time of enrollment. With so many companies being hacked and the customer credit information being exposed on the dark web for sale, you should be extremely cautious in unnecessarily providing your credit card information. I feel this is one of those situations where credit information is unnecessarily being requested and could result in potential compromise. The gym at one time until recently provided a "one pay" membership option which they canceled.

It’s not a bad gym, the employees are super nice. It is however super small and some of the machines are broken often. It would be nice if there were paper towels in the bathrooms as well as toilet lids for sanitary purposes though.

The 3 star review isn't for this particular location but for what appears to be very questionable practices regarding how charges are made. I had gotten in and started my new contract with a very low monthly rate. I was made aware of the annual fee and eventually paid it

I had been working out at this planet fitness for a while. I walked in one morning and checked in and as I walked toward the lockers, the 2 young ladies behind the counter called me back. She told me I needed to give her another payment type. I’m not sure why all of a sudden I need to give 2 forms of payment. I told her I was just going to keep my bank account as the form of payment. She told me if I refused, she wouldn’t allow me to use the gym. Mind you, planet fitness already billed me for that month. I asked to speak with her manager and the other young lady told me she was the shift lead and that was the policy and nothing could be done about it. I said if this was a stipulation to use the gym, then it should have been addressed when I signed up, not a year later. I told them if they weren’t going to allow me to use the gym after I had already paid, then cancel my membership. After they canceled my membership they told me I was free to go workout. So I can use the gym when I’m canceled but not when I’m paying?
