This PF location has really gone downhill. It was nice years ago but standards have not been maintained. Both changing rooms by the showers have broken doors. The showers always feel dirty. Way too many people sit on equipment playing on their phones for long periods of time. Way too many people do not wipe down any machines after using them. Although most are not, it seems to be an increase in the number of lunkers in the gym- loud grunting, slamming weights and other "look at me" behaviors. Although the thought was nice, giving high schoolers free gym memberships all Summer made the gym crowded and tied up a lot of equipment with people playing on phones or just sitting there talking with their friends. Might be time to find a different gym or at least another PF location.

Follow-up edit after Owner's response: It is both telling and ridiculous the "Owner" only refers issues to the staff. It is clear where the problems start.

Clean location but staff is hit or miss.

One set of staff greet every member & actually scans everyone in - this group is also happy to extend massage chair & bed time to 15 minutes.

Another set of staff just chit chat with one another while having members scan their own phones - this group insists massage sessions are automatically set to 10 minutes max.

Otherwise, interactions with other members or lack there of is pleasant.

I was a member at American Family Fitness, Golds Gym then Planet Fitness. All 3 have great incentives to join. At this current time I enjoy knowing that I can bring a guest when I workout, the massage seats / massage beds, knowing my membership is accepted anywhere in the country and the very friendly staff. Favorite gym I’ve been to so far. Super affordable, good equipment. The abductor/adductor machine is in the back so I feel a little less self conscious using it away from everyone. Also the hydro massage machine available for black card members is amazing. David is super knowledgeable and also very easy to work with.

I’m a truck driver and drive all across the US and I always stop in at a Planet Fitness to workout Unwind and shower and this gym and the staff are excellent and Solomon the front desk guy attends to help everyone

The Midlothian location has been poorly taken care of. The bathrooms are always messing. The stalls doors are either broken and the hooks to hang your belongings are missing and not replaced. I wouldn't take a shower there ever as I would be afraid to catch something. Not once can you smell any kind of cleaning solution being used to keep the restroom germ free. The paper towels holder consistently are left not refilled and you need to walk around to find one that has paper. I had join not a year ago and if anything it has gotten worse. Teens/Adults will stand around the machines and you have to them to please move so I can use the equipment. That can cause a problem for the member. Staff do not walk around to check and they don't people from speaking loudly on their phones when on equipment or walking around the gym. I am truly considering to go back to AmFam. They bathrooms are always spotless. You can even smell the cleaning products. Do better Planet Fitness

Planet Fitness – Hull Street Location Review

I don’t visit the Hull Street Planet Fitness often, but every time I do, the same issue jumps out: the bathrooms and showers are consistently dirty. This isn’t just a one-time thing—it’s a pattern I’ve also noticed at the Stoneypoint and Glen Allen locations. The shower curtains are always grimy, and there’s hair all over the floors in the stalls and dressing areas.

I recently watched a staff member during my visit. She wiped the counters near the sinks and lingered around the bathroom stall section. By the time I got out of the shower and dressed, she was already gone—and the area still looked filthy. I ended up using my own towel to sweep hair off the floor so it wouldn’t stick to my shoes, which I had to pack back into my bag.

What makes it worse is that I used to run my own cleaning service, and I could easily do a much better job than what their staff is doing. Honestly, the level of cleaning here would not pass even a basic inspection in any professional setting.

The Hull Street location has three shower stalls and three dressing rooms, including one that’s supposed to be handicap-accessible—but it’s so tight, I don’t see how a wheelchair could even maneuver in there.

For a gym that promotes cleanliness and member satisfaction, this is unacceptable. Planet Fitness needs to do better—not just with broken fixtures, but with actual hygiene standards and customer respect. How are people that actually enjoy what they do or just hire someone just to clean the stalls

I was visiting from California and checked out Planet Fitness here, and honestly, I’m so glad I did.

From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed, and a huge part of that was thanks to Tati. She gave me a tour that didn’t feel like a pitch, even though I was only visiting. It felt like a friend showing me around a place they really believe in. Her energy, positivity, and how genuinely she cared made the whole experience memorable. Even with just getting a day pass. She treated me like a member and I won’t forget that experience.

The gym itself is super clean, has everything you’d need, and has a really motivating vibe. But it’s people like Tati who make the atmosphere feel like more than just a gym, but moreso it feels like a place where growth actually happens.

I usually come in the mornings to workout, but I came at night ti switch up my routine and TATI was SO SO kind and friendly. I can’t lie I wasn’t always a fan of planet fitness in the past, but I’ve been coming here for about 7 months now and I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and the environment. They are constantly cleaning and on top of maintaining cleaning supplies for machines and equipment. Truly, all the staff members are helpful, they always greet you and say goodbye, not all gyms treat members that way. TATI actually went out of her way to say hi to me directly and start a conversation, which you don’t see many people do, and it’s nice to see in such a crazy world.

Love this location in the winter but the minute it gets above 70 outside, it’s a solid 85-90 in the gym and you sweat just walking in the door. Update: In response from Planet Fitness (owner), I have already spoken to two of the managers and all early morning front desk staff. I just keep repeating myself and they have no solutions for me. I believe they report the issues though. Just as an example, I attached a photo of one tanning booths. This is comparable to what the bathrooms look like on a consistent basis. Then add at least 8 machines that are either completely broken or don't work properly.
I have complained so many times over the past year with no results and it's just getting worse. Bathrooms are consistently filthy, equipment is not maintained and doesn't work correctly or just "out of order" forever. Obviously the owner doesn't care.

Not bad. Definitely gets a little busy after regular work hours. Same as any gym. Gotta jockey for bench/squat machines. Wish there were more. Pretty clean. Most members do there part to keep equipment clean for next user. Love the massage chairs and hydra massage beds aren't to shabby. Only 2 and 2 so you may have to wait 10 minutes or less for one. My wife loves the tanning beds. They have a stand up one also. She says they're better then some tanning bed only places and with the gym membership it is beyond worth it.

One of the larger planet fitness locations. I went during peak hours and still managed to get into my routine without having to wait a long time for any equipment. The Black card zone had some fantastic options at this location, the massage chairs and tables as well as the tanning rooms. The facilities looked clean and everything was well organized.

You get what you pay for, and this is the cheapest of all the local gyms. It is so poorly managed, that I just paid a $49 annual renewal fee, plus $25 for this month ,and will have to pay $25 for next month, and I'll be glad to take the $100 loss just to leave. They are so unethical that when I gave the reason for leaving as an issue with managment, they forged the paperwork to show the reason as "moving." They are a perfect fit though, with that neglected dump of a strip mall where they are located. TO OWNER"S RESPONSE: I discussed it with a manager when I cancelled my membership, and that manager forged the reason for my leaving to cover-up my complaint about the other manager.

I love coming to this Planet Fitness (and I've been to a few gyms!) The staff are always super welcoming and nice - any questions I've had are handled attentively and quickly. The whole atmosphere of this gym is awesome too - there are a lot of regulars that make this their gym (so that says a lot!) I've met a lot of friendly faces here.

The facility is large and well stocked with an assortment of work-out equipment. It can get busy during certain times of the day, but I rarely have ever had to wait long for a machine during peak hours.

The employees work hard to keep everything clean and running smoothly. & it shows! I feel safe and happy to make this my gym. :)

This gym is GREAT!🥰 Especially love the staff — specifically the really cute GINGER! He’s a little young for me, but that never stopped anybody. Definitely deserves a raise and more recognition! Way too devoted to his job, I think his name was Brady? Brandon? Braylon? Brock? Bronson? Brody? Looks especially cool when he enters the backrooms. Like, wow! Not many people can do that. I started attending planet fitness because my previous gym closed which was you fit. I normally work out 3-4 days/week for 1-1/2hours. The gym is normally too crowded and I have been noticing that people mostly the men are tying up 2 machines at a time, which is super selfish and inconvenient. Please stop leaving your belongings at a machine and then go off and work on another machine, let’s do better people!!!!!!!!

False advertising on the front of each of these stores. They’re not 24/5, they’re 24/4.

I originally went with Planet Fitness due to their many locations across the country and their (original) 24/7 service. But since I prefer working out at night, and they have changed their hours, I have already missed a couple workout due to their reduced hours.

Great place, great price. The setup is more toward beginner fitness enthusiasts but advance gym-aholic can get a great workout to if you put tour mind to it. No free weight barbells only smith machine.

The same staff seems to be there pretty regularly and they’re always nice. Gym equipment is always clean and the one time I saw the chest fly machine out of order, it was fixed the next day. The massage beds and chairs are my favorite if my back hurts which it usually does lol. The people you work out with mostly mind their business other than if they want your machine, never had anyone be rude to me. Overall my favorite planet fitness in the area

Just joined a week ago but great gym so far. Very clean and equipment is in excellent condition. Not terribly busy even in the after work hours. Looking forward to more workouts here.
Only request/improvement would be installing wall mounted hand sanitizers throughout the facility please. Many high touch surfaces in a gym so a little hand sanitizer would be appreciated!
