GREAT neighborhood gym. Have been a member here since it opened, and the different classes and intensity workouts thoughtfully cater to people at different phases of their fitness journey - and you learn a ton and workout smaller muscle groups and balance stabilization that you likely wouldn't on your own. Small enough to get pretty personalized feedback and attention, big enough to feed off others energy and build community.

I can’t recommend Progress Fitness Studio enough! The functional fitness programming is fantastic and keeps workouts interesting, challenging, and fun.
The community here is incredibly welcoming and supportive, making it such a joy to show up every day. On top of that, the space itself is beautiful, well laid out, and it has all the equipment you could ever need.
After being in a rut of working out at home and feeling uninspired, this place has completely renewed my interest and excitement to get to the gym!
Progress is definitely a place to check out

I was looking to supplement working out in my basement to get some more interaction with people and also some accountability in my workouts. Progress Studio was the perfect find. It's not frenetic or gimmicky. Just a really good, and never boring, workout in a supportive environment. As a work-from-home digital nomad, I'm always looking for small community-based gyms. Progress studio did not disappoint during my time in Charlottesville! As a heavy lifter in the past, the workouts have been a welcome change to my routine, focused on functional movements and mobility with a healthy mix of cardio and strength training mixed in. Love the flexibility in membership options which can be hard to find. Katie has fostered a lovely community at Progress Studio. Progress Studio is an excellent place to for a workout. They provide individual professional training of the highest caliber.
My wife and I went to a Sat. exercise class.
We really enjoyed the class. The instructors workout was a 45 min routine that worked every major muscle group to failure. She provided excellent feedback, making sure people were performing the exercises correctly. It was challenging and one of the best workouts I've had in a while. Looking forward to the next class.

I highly encourage anyone and everyone to try a class at Progress. It is the most inclusive gym and fitness community I have ever attended. I joined about a year postpartum and felt welcome from day one. I've seen my functional strength improve dramatically, yet never feel energized rather than drained after a class. Progress studio is a one-of-a-kind gym! Each trainer has a unique style and personality which gives the challenging workouts a nice flare. I’m always sore after a progress class but in a way that makes me feel like I left it all out on the mat! All of the trainers are great at offering adaptions to circuits and helping you learn the proper way to complete exercises. The gym community is also the most welcoming and friendly group of individuals in Charlottesville! I highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to sweat and make some new friends :)

Progress Studio started during Covid when we would meet in parks and workout together. We had no equipment except our own bands and mats. Matt and Katie were creative to make sure we had a nice workout. They developed a style that not necessarily you find in other gyms, and I personally enjoy very much.
Now that they have a place with TRX, medicine balls, weights, and other workout equipments, we are able to have amazing workouts every day. They are great in exposing us to different equipments while having a fun workout.💪♥️

This is the only gym that actually makes me want to go to the gym. I’ve always struggled with creating a workout regimen for myself, but the structure Progress provides solves that issue & I know when I walk through the door there is going to be a workout on the other side that will be varied, fun, and as challenging as I want it to be. The first session is free and their introductory package is so good (unlimited sessions for your first 3 weeks for $39), you will surely be hooked.

I always get a great workout no matter who is running the class. It’s a great environment for beginners to the more advanced exerciser as you can push yourself with the workouts based on your comfort level. They demo “scaled” versions of each exercise to fit your needs.

As a physical therapist myself, I especially am impressed with how each trainer is able to recommend modifications to the workouts to keep you moving even while dealing an injury/pain.

Highly recommend as a place for anyone looking to improve their fitness and feel more connected to the community!

I’ve always loved the idea of fitness, but could never really get into the actual fitness part. I would work out for a few months then develop some kind of overuse injury and stop working out completely. This cycle continued until I found Progress, a gym that is inclusive, accepting, and supportive of everyone who is willing to give it a try. There are no mirrors so all focus goes into the way our bodies feel as we move through each exercise and activate targeted muscle groups. Progress has helped me feel more confident in my body and stronger both physically and mentally.

Historically I've been opposed to spending any of my extra money on workout classes when I can do videos at home for free or use the machines at a cheap gym, but after doing my free trial with Progress Studio I was compelled to buy a membership. Every class is the perfect mix of cardio and strength training and there are plenty of modifications to every single move. I struggle with knee injuries and I've always felt 100% supported any time I need to make an adjustment. It's really inclusive for all fitness levels/ages/etc. Katie and Matt are both super knowledgeable and friendly and really make each session not only a great full-body workout but also SO FUN. I usually am counting down the minutes when I workout on my own but I never find myself doing that at Progress. Can't wait to keep coming back!

P.S. They also have great showers that are big enough to change in and they provide soap/shampoo/etc. AND towels!

I’ve gone to a variety of workout studios and gyms in Charlottesville and this is by far the best! The trainers are injury-conscious and happy to provide equally challenging modifications if there’s an exercise that doesn’t work for you, which is so hard to find. The workouts are so thorough and really focus on muscles that are important for full physical fitness instead of just glamour muscles. They are also great at making sure that you are performing exercises correctly and I love that I can tell how much they value overall wellness. I can’t say enough about how great my experience at Progress has been. I would give them 6 stars if I could!
