Most gyms I've gone to are just a room with weights and you don't have any guidance. This gym membership comes with coaches, occasional fitness challenges, and a welcoming atmosphere. I've seen results - weight loss, muscle definition, and increased confidence. The coaches help keep me accountable to my own goals. Highly recommend this gym.

I completed the 6 weeks challenge and lost 15lbs. 11lbs of fat gone!!! Go me!!! I’m ready to start my summer right and in shape. This place is not just a gym but you are coached through your workouts. I needed the extra push every time I walked through the door. Not to mention the daily check-ins from your coach, weigh-ins and customized meal plan. Someone to hold you accountable every step of the way. I first completed the challenge in 2020 and this year, both times successfully. This place is worth the investment because the results are obtainable. Thank you Lee and Adam for believing in me!!! RARE CrossFit in Fredericksburg, VA has been a huge game changer for me and my husband. We joined for a 28 day challenge after many years of having excuses for not being where we want to be physically. The RARE family (coaches and athletes) have been there all along the way being the best support system for the both of us. We’ve come from dreading working out (pre-RARE) to actually looking forward to our time at RARE each week. Great place to crossfit! I was invited by a coworker and at first was skeptical, never did crossfit before, didn't know crossfit terminology, and was out of shape. However, after the first workout I knew that RARE was the right place. It has a great atmosphere that motivates me to meet my goals to get into shape. After a couple of months I have already seen results and have lost weight. The coaches, who are all great, focus on form, understanding, and on teaching how to build your workout of the day (WOD). The WODs are always challenging and fun! Would recommend this place to anyone new or already used to crossfit.
UPDATE: I have since moved away due to work and have to say there is no gym out there like RARE! The gym had changed my life for the best (over a hundred pounds lost at one point) and taught me so much. I am able to continue my fitness journey with what I learned but will always miss the great coaches and family!!!

My path to wellness... over 30 years with 3 mild stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol l was close to giving up until l saw an ad on Instagram. I spent over 20k on numerous programs that promised results. Less than two months ago l signed with Rare in Fredericksburg, this is an account of my progress so far. My belly has decreased.
I can climb the stairs in my house without holding on to the rail.
I can get up from my bed and my legs are not as heavy in the morning.
I can see features of my shape.
My husband has been complementing my efforts and the fact that he does not have to remind me of portion sizes.
My blood pressure is staying steady.
I am more excited about caring for myself. I am ordering and buying healthy food and actually reading labels.
This program has been a blessing! I am always worried if l can actually achieve a healthy lifestyle. Believe me
with RARE I believe l can. This is due to all the coaches. This is a program that actually provides 1/1 support and motivation.
I am not weight but health focus and l am so happy to have found RARE. I am certain l will gain both with determination and the well planned program/exercises. I am looking forward to many years of growth and learning how to actually do a burpee. Great place if you are looking for results. RARE CrossFit change my life! I was trying to get back to being healthy and active but was having trouble getting started. I had just turned 31, had no energy, and was not enjoying my life the way I wanted to. I was scared to end up like my father who passed away due to a heart attack at 45. RARE Crossfit is the BEST! on every level...The coaching staff, the workouts, the community, the support! If you are reading this, I highly recommend you give them a call.
Maybe you’ve been “trying” things on your own, downloading apps, paying for subscriptions and gym memberships you don’t use, watching videos, food documentaries and reading stuff online “trying” to convince yourself that you’re learning and making forward progress. Yet, you find yourself in the same place, year after year. I know because I did the same thing and my way wasn’t working.
I knew I needed accountability, instruction, support sprinkled with some friendly competition. The owners Adam, Lee and their coaches are absolutely amazing and provided all the support I needed for me to get out of my own way and start seeing the results.
It doesn’t matter how long it’s been or what you’re shape you’re in, what matters is that you decide, and that you show up.
I was able to lose 4% body fat, and gained 5 lbs of muscle with the 6 week challenge and continued on. Whenever I got busy or slipped back into my old ways, miss a week or whatever, someone from RARE always called me or texted with encouragement and got my butt back in. I could make any and every excuse not to go (work, kids, stuff, life, busy), RARE always reminded me my why and that I’m worth it. We make time for the things that are most important to us.
There are a lot of good gyms out there. RARE Crossfit just does it better.
With RARE, there is no more guesswork, they leave no room for you to fail. You will have to put in the work though. Having said all that, RARE CrossFit “IS” the premier workout COMMUNITY. We are all friends that support and root for each other’s personal best.

I responded to a ad and was ready to join. The owner (Adam) sent several messages then connected me with a “transformation specialist “ which is another term for salesperson. After taking time from my schedule, it resulted in a 20 minute sales pitch. I don’t need to be sold. I know what I am looking for. I regret blocking time to listen to this person. First, they have no idea to present a program nor know how ask qualifying questions. Finally, I messaged the owner with absolutely no response. BLUF avoid this gym!

This gym is something special. When I moved to the area about five years ago I was interested in getting into CrossFit. Most of the gyms will let you try them out for free before joining. This was the third gym I tried and I knew half way through my workout that I wanted to be part of Rare. They truly are a family. The owners, coaches, and even the other members are all so nice. Another thing I love is how diverse it is there. There are people of all ages, people with different exercise experience, and with different goals. I definitely look forward to my group classes. It makes my day that much better!

I was previously a member of another local gym (Burn Bootcamp). Once my required contract membership was over, I joined RARE. Best choice I've ever made! Class sizes are small, training is safe and focused, a lot of support from coaches and staff. The team focuses on proper technique and safety. All fitness levels welcomed! I made more progress at RARE in 30 days than I did 6 months with Burn. That should tell you something...LOVE RARE!

I'm writing this review not only as someone who has worked out at RARE CrossFit, but also as someone who has rented office space from the facility. Adam and Lee are excellent gym owners and human beings. I rented office space for my business (Prestige Chiropractic) for one year, and I can tell you that these people are COMMITTED to helping everyone become as fit as possible. I have personally seen Adam, Lee, and Dee putting in countless hours at their facility to help out every individual they possibly can. Whether it be their CrossFit members or their boot camp members, they bring their A-game to their clients to help them achieve fitness and lifestyle goals. Rare CrossFit has a strong, helpful, kind, motivating community. They are so welcoming to anyone at any stage in their fitness journey. They will take the time to help you! Especially if you are like me and you’re competitive and want to get in shape, but don’t know how to do it, this place is perfect. They helped me fall in love with exercise when I thought it was more of a chore.
I wasn’t able to run a quarter-mile without stopping. I wasn’t able to do a single push-up. This environment pushed and encouraged me to be the person I’ve been wanting to be for a long time.
Now I can run a half-marathon, do push-ups, and even pull an F-150 BY MYSELF (yes, they have a Strongman class)! They cater to you and your goals, you just have to take the first step.

As a massage therapist who specializes in sports and medical massage, I get to hear all the dirty details about every workout place around town! I can honestly say not a single client I have ever seen has had anything negative to say about RARE! Their reputation for a friendly, non-judgmental, and inviting environment has always followed them. As a matter of fact their enthusiasm and desire to help is what initially drew me to them! When I choose to workout I've got to go all in or nothing and RARE was the perfect place to do that. They provided me not only nutritional support and supplements to get me on the track I needed to succeed in their 28 day challenge but they also gave me the emotional and mental support to tackle this challenge. I am an over thinker and when it come to being in a gym and trying to workout I am very judgemental of myself, often times talking myself down in my own mind. It's been one of my bigger struggles, but because of RAREs stellar environment and constant encouragement from every member and trainer I quickly felt settled in and found myself not struggling against my own mind. Over the course of this 28 day challenge I have managed to stay accountable over the holidays and still enjoy myself. It was very much needed and thanks to RARE I can see myself beginning to get on a healthier path and a better start into the new year. Looking forward to continuing my journey at their facility!

RARE and the 28 day challenge were exactly what I needed. I’ve been unmotivated to workout for months. Joining this challenge has pulled me out of my slump. The coaches and members are all supportive and encouraging. As other reviewers have said, it is a positive environment with great workouts and great people and I loved that they meet you where you are. I never felt judged for scaling down a workout if I felt I needed to or pressured to do more than I felt I could handle. I’ve been with Rare since July and had hit a plateau with my weight loss. I decided to try the 28 Day Holiday Challenge to jumpstart my exercise and weight loss and I am not disappointed! I’m 28 days, I’ve lost 5 pounds and 2 pants sizes! The non-scale victories are awesome too! For the first time in forever, I’m wearing a size small sweatshirt! I tried it on and was shocked and so happy when it zipped with room to spare! I’ve achieved so many personal goals with Rare like double under jump rope skills, hand stand push-ups and pull up bar work. These are all things I never thought I could do in a million years. Rare changed my entire outlook on fitness and healthy eating with the workouts and the challenge! The supplements are wonderful too. The Burn AM and Test Storm give me tons of energy and power me through my busy work days and workouts! The Intra powder has virtually erased my muscle soreness after workouts and the pre-workout powder is delicious and makes my workouts smooth and full of energy! If you need to jumpstart your fitness goals in a fun, fit, family environment, I definitely recommend a challenge and subsequent membership to Rare CrossFit. It’s not like any other gym because when I walk in, I feel like family. The coaches and fellow members are the most supportive exercise community I’ve ever been a part of and I used to hate working out. I've struggled with diet and exercise my whole life. I've tried diets and exercise before with varying results. I'll lose the weight only to gain it all back. However, the Challenge at Rare and subsequent membership and workout plan have helped me to lose 13 pounds and 3 percent body fat and gain a confidence that I've never seen before. The program at Rare isn't a "diet" plan but more a way of life. The sense of community that they have created motivates me to work out and be successful. The coaches at Rare truly care about their clients and this is a breath of fresh air in the gym/fitness industry. I've learned how to eat healthy instead of crash dieting and I've learned to love exercise and how to push myself past the limits of anywhere I thought I could ever go! The gym and workouts are for users of all fitness levels. I love my Rare family and the things they've helped me achieve and maintain. Today, I'm down a total of 45 pounds and so happy! My wife wanted me to join her go through the Rare Crossfit challenge. To be completely honest I was doubtful. I've been a member of a few different crossfit boxes before. At the end of the 6 week challenge I stood corrected. I lost 18 lbs and 7.7% of body fat.
I was given a nutrition plan that included enough recipes that I didn't get bored eating the same thing over and over for six weeks. The challenge classes are well taught and the coaches spend time to make sure that everyone is using the right form and not doing anything that would hurt themselves or others.
I was pleased to find out that the one on one health consultation does not stop when the challenge is over. I sat down with a coach and went over my new fitness goals. We also scheduled a follow up meeting to make sure that I am moving toward meeting these goals.
I've tried alot of different gyms, nutrition plans, exercise plans, and diets. Some of them work but no were long lasting. Rare crossfit provides an inviting atmosphere and also prioritizes accountability. Everyone there, from the staff to the other patrons, make sure that everyone feels included and welcome. There doesn't seem to be any cliques. The strongest and most experienced athletes are often seen coaching the newest members.
I've had three times in my life when I felt the fittest. The first being when I graduated from Army basic training. The second was when I spent thousands of dollars on a personal trainer. The third is now after I've completed Rare crossfit's 6 week challenge.

I started off my journey at rare not even thinking I could do crossfit I'd heard bad things about it and I decided to try it out anyway. I couldn't have been more wrong they are really nice there and they really take time to explain the movements and encourage you each step of the way. They even will modify the exercises if you have any issues like knee, back problems, etc. I just did the 6 week challenge and now I'm a member so that says alot in itself!

Truly a fantastic organization. Did the 6 week challenge with my daughter. I lost 8 pounds of body fat and gained back my confidence as an athlete. My clothes fit better and I am excited about how strong and limber I feel. Spent the last 3 years recovering from an illness and an injury that had me thinking I would never be fit again. Rare Crossfit helped me change that. I had a buddy to go with but if you dont you'll certainly find one there, whether it be one of the coaches or someone else just like you. I’ve struggled a long time with my weight and I was getting to the point where I was feeling like I never would be able to loose weight. I started the 6 week challenge anxious thinking that I wouldn’t be able to stick to the meal plan and keep up with the exercises. With the support of the coaches and the other gym members I was able to complete the program loosing 11 pounds (2.5%) of pure fat along with gaining muscle. The coaches are amazing and very knowledgeable, they were always willing to explain things, answer questions, and demonstrate proper techniques. After the six weeks was over I couldn’t stand leaving this new family I have acquired over the six weeks. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in losing weight. It’s real people helping real people. A lot of other CrossFit gyms (I feel like) are very intimidating with very muscular and externally young athletes able to do any and every exercise. Rare CrossFit has all types of people from very young to very old and people of all abilities. It’s a great place to acquire new family.

I just finished the challenge and can't say enough positive things about RARE CrossFit, the coaches, or the supportive environment that is fostered and encouraged here. It was a motivating, positive, and encouraging adventure! I lost a bunch of weight and I am so much fitter and motivated! This isn't like a normal gym. Every Single Person there welcomed and helped me out while I was learning how to do these moves. That awkward gym feeling doesn't exist here. I was very intimidated by the idea of Crossfit, but I gave their 6-week challenge a chance and I’m glad I did! 42 days ago I started a crossfit challenge by Rare Crossfit. Along my journey I met some amazing people that helped motivate me to continue the challenge. The coaches at Rare are very helpful and will kick your butt during workout sessions. The meal plan was cool, I was still able to “EAT” a “DECENT” amount of food and still make gains. I can say before this challenge I never knew what Ezekiel bread was but it is pretty good. I went on a 5.8 mile hike while in ATL last week to stay active. Worked out on my own 😳 for extra workout 🏋️♀️. Man I just wanna give a big shoutout to Adam and all the coaches at @rarecrossfit . Thank you for helping me find the motivation to continue this journey to achieve a healthy lifestyle!

Let me first start by saying RARE is one of the most amazing, supportive, positive places to workout. I started at RARE a few years ago, left because I was pregnant, had two children within the past few years, and returned to RARE a month ago to start my fitness journey again. I was nervous to basically restart my fitness journey after a few years but coming back to RARE felt as if I was coming back home. The coaches motivated me every single day and encouraged me to keep moving forward. I am 130lbs, about 6 months post-partum from my second child, and just lost a lot of my muscle capacity from not working out over the past few years. As a result of their program and motivation, within 6 weeks, I lost a good amount of body fat, 3 inches on my waist, AND gained muscle!!!
If you are nervous about working out, not sure how to work out, or even the slightest bit nervous because this is a ‘CrossFit gym’... DON’T BE! The coaches will COACH you and the members will SUPPORT you! If you aren’t sure about something ask! I highly recommend RARE because of its people and what they do for ALL members, no matter where you are in your fitness journey or in your walk in life. They’ve got your back!

Just finished the first ever nutrition challenge. I've been wanting to try Rare for a couple years, but was scared, because I am not athletic.
Once they added the nutrition part. I knew it was finally time to do it. What an amazing experience! The team is outstanding! The movement is tailored to your level. I always had a tough time finding both people and motivation to go work out. When I was introduced to Rare, it was two birds with one stone. After going here for about a month or two, I was able to do one successful rope climb for the first time ever.

Because I travel a lot, I’ve dropped in at many, many CrossFit gyms over the years. Rare is without a doubt among the best I’ve visited. I worked out at Rare three times while spending Thanksgiving week with family in Fredericksburg. The workouts were challenging and fun, the coaches were knowledgeable and helpful, and the members were extremely friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend making Rare your gym home if you live in Fredericksburg or the surrounding area or dropping in with them if you’re visiting the area and looking for a place to workout.

RARE is a clean, friendly, state of the art facility. There are various programs to fit anyone’s needs and/or fitness level. The coaches, owners, and atheletes are inviting and motivating. I was recently in town, with a friend, visiting family and went to RARE Crossfit. Adam was incredibly responsive with my emails and beyond welcoming when we arrived at the gym! Me and my friend went on a Thursday when it was open gym and had plenty of WODs to choose from on their boards. The gym was so organized and well put together, finding the proper equipment for the WOD was no issue at all. When we were finished Adam even stayed with us for a bit helping us with our Double Unders! I come to the area once or twice a year and can definitely see myself coming to RARE again when I'm in town! Highly recommend visiting this facility if you are in town looking for a drop in spot or if you live in town and you're interested in starting Crossfit!

Dropped in and couldn't have asked for a better box. Wish I lived here - this would be my gym! Some say it's the coaches that make a gym great. Some argue it's the people. Some may even say it's the best equipment that sets a gym above the others. Crossfit Rare has it all! Coaches, Adam, Josh and Hud to name a few, are top-notch. The people who work out there were very welcoming and happy. The gym is large with all the best equipment and more. You can feel the positive vibe when you walk in - supportive, encouraging and motivating. If you are looking for the best place to work out - stop in and see for yourself - you'll love it!!

A year ago, I was bored of home workout routines, and didn't want to spend money on traditional gym ... And the "cross-fit" thing seemed a little strange and intimidating. Fast forward a year and I can't recommend Rare enough. I've never been stronger or more consistent with working out. And it's all thanks to the great coaching and community at Rare. If you're on the fence about cross fit like I was, I highly recommend you check it out.

I'm an experienced crossfitter, and dropped into RCF while traveling through the area for work. The gym has a great sense of community and the coaching staff is both well-educated and supportive. The gym is smaller than some of the new-style mega-boxes, but I love how the coaches push form over intensity. The programming is also excellent, with an emphasis on fundamental elements that many cf gyms have started to ignore - mobility, correct movement patterns, and endurance. I would recommend this box to locals and visitors alike.

I have lost 49lbs!! RARE Crossfit feels like home. I felt very welcomed since day 1. I use to be the one to shy to go inside a gym. I have never felt that way here. Everyone is very friendly and I feel like a part of a TEAM! Staff are eager to help and they pay attention to each one of us showing lots of attention to our form. We stretch as a group before each workout. I have attended other workout groups in the past and felt just like I was another face in the crowd but not here. Staff knows us all on a first name basis . They explain importance of form amongst other things. I also know that majority of members have been going here for number of years. To me that shouts RESULTS, SUCCESS, FUN! The workouts fly by and everyone cheers each member on . I truelly love it here and loosing 49lbs is amazing to me cuz I tried everything before . I was spending hours on cardio and only thing changing was my lbs going up!! i use to have thyroid disorder and high blood pressure. Now that I have lost 49lbs and workout I no longer need medicine for either . THANKS TO RARE CROSSFIT!! U GUYS ARE THE BEST!!! 😉🏋🏋

I can't say enough about the RARE CrossFit family. I wasn't sure crossfit was for me, but a friend told me to just try it. Every coach at RARE is fantastic! They really take the time to train you on every movement and technic of lifts. I feel good about myself after leaving class. It's not just the coaches that help motivate you, it is everyone else working their hardest that goes too. I love RARE and I look forward to growing and getting stronger with their leadership!
