My college age daughter and I took the Mon 7a class w Wendy and we loved her teaching.
I have a fair amount of yoga experience but my daughter is more of a newbie. We both found W easy to follow and enjoyed the options she used w blocks and variations of challenge.
She took the time to welcome us when we arrived and to check in w us at the end.
She clearly knew her regulars by name but did not favor them with her attention.
Enjoyed the hands on adjustments - not too much - sporadic and gentle.
The studio space is inviting, though I do recommend layers bc I was chilly from an air vent.
And I thought parking would be an issue, but I’ve been to the studio three times now and found free street parking easily at 7a, at 9a and at noon.
Thanks for a wonderful experience!

A wonderful yoga and martial arts studio located on beautiful King Street in Alexandria. The yoga and jiu jitsu instruction are excellent and best part is, when class is done, you're in the heart of King Street and can head right to your favorite coffee spot, restaurant, or down to the water!

Got a gift certificate I could never use. Their website was confusing and hours were always inconvenient. Every time I stopped by it was closed. I basically go Nothing for my birthday. Worst birthday gift ever. I should have just thrown $200 in the trash.

Refresh is such a welcoming, inviting space! I got a ClassPass and ended up using all my credits to attend because from my first class to my fourth class, I was enthralled by the studio's environment. The instructors have varying practices, but I love that the common theme is a focus on breath work. Each class I've joined has been intuitive enough for complete beginners like myself but adaptable enough that more experienced folks can feel stretched and challenged as well. Refresh, thanks for getting me back into fitness and helping me connect with my body!

I absolutely love this studio! The instructors are so thorough in their explanations of the movements, every instructor offers modifications to take what fits in your practice, and the space is gorgeous! This studio does not overbook classes, so you aren't too close to your neighbor. Every instructor I have learned from at this studio has so much knowledge to share, and encourages learning more about the practice outside of the movement aspect. I cannot recommend this studio enough!!!

This is a welcoming yoga and martial arts studio in a great location—I was worried about parking but it’s actually never been an issue ! They have pretty sky lights and so far all the yoga instructors I’ve taken classes from have been excellent. My friends husband goes to martial arts here too. I’m trying to get back into my yoga practice and this is the place to do it! I live 20 minutes away and still find old town delightful—especially this end of King Street has some great quirky shops and restaurants and galleries to see after. refreshing yoga here!

They moved locations to 1011 King St, Alexandria. Updating my review because they seemed open to updating their information and were nice about letting me join the class late (I walked from the old location to the new location). I kept one star off because they don’t have any updated signage at their old location stating that they’ve moved and they didn’t update their voicemail message or answer their phone when I tried calling them, but hopefully they update their signage at their old location soon! They moved the first week of September 2022. When I was walking around their old location trying to figure out how to get in, the ice cream store associate next to the old location explained that another person had gotten lost as well, so this is a problem affecting multiple people.
Edit: Updating review to 5 stars because they changed their information on google and because their yoga classes are really great.

This yoga studio is always inviting. I recommend Refresh Yoga to anyone who is new or advanced. The instructors offer lots of alternatives to make poses either easier or more challenging… I love that there are multiple fitness levels in each class. There are some things that my body just can’t do and I appreciate this safe space.

I’ve been grateful to be coming to yoga classes here for a couple of months now. It’s about a 15 minute drive for me and definitely worth it. I’ve had no trouble with traffic, it’s easily ancces off 495, and I’ve found parking easily (I’ve primarily come to Sat am class). Paula is awesome and teaches seamlessly to all levels, even within the same class. Everyone I’ve come across here has been so nice, and welcoming. Really fun shirts and other shop items, too.

I’ve been attending the prenatal class pretty regularly and am enjoying the monthly themes the studio focuses on and how the instructor melds that theme with our pregnancies each time. I searched high an low for a yoga studio closer to my home and am very happy to have found Refresh Yoga Center! I have taken classes with several different instructors and each has been taken to the time to introduce themselves and make me feel welcomed prior to class. They also inquire about injuries and offer modifications, as needed, which is very helpful to me. The overall vibe at the studio is laid back, and allows me to take my mind off my to-do list and just be present in the moment. Refresh Yoga Center has reminded me why I began practicing yoga a few years ago and has reignited my desire to continue practicing! I always feel centered and balanced after each class. I highly encourage anyone who is thinking of checking out Refresh Yoga Center to do so! You will not be disappointed!

I just started my yoga practice and was looking for a beginners series to begin and build a solid foundation for my practice. After researching the many yoga studios in the area, I decided to register for the four-week beginners series at Refresh Yoga Center, and I am glad that I did. The class is taught by Cynthia Anderson who through her teaching demonstrates her commitment to introducing new students to yoga. I'm learning the fundamentals of poses and linking them together in a continuous flow. In addition to learning about the poses physically, I'm learning about yoga as a discipline and the meaning behind the poses, as well as the importance of conscious breathing. As a part of the beginner series, I've taken full advantage of have unlimited access to classes and have enjoyed trying out different classes. I look forward to growing my practice and learning from the instructors at Refresh Yoga Center.

I love Refresh Yoga! I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, and my rheumatologist recommended I try yoga. I found Refresh Yoga online, and signed up initially for their 2 weeks for $25 offer for new clients. I booked a couple of the “gentler” kind of classes, and fell in love immediately. The studio is cozy and warm, and I was greeted warmly the first time I stepped in. The instructors are all terrific–and I’m especially impressed with Cynthia, who is teaching the 4-week beginner’s workshop that I signed up for. She’s kind and encouraging of every student, regardless of physical abilities (or lack thereof!) and is so knowledgeable about the body, mind, and spirit aspects of yoga practice and philosophy. But again, ALL the instructors are fantastic, and all of them that I’ve met give individual attention to each student, to help him or her get maximum benefit from the practice, without injury(!) which is especially important to me. And as a bonus: they are located on one of the most charming blocks in Old Town. I take a lot of evening classes, and it’s such a lovely walk getting there from the Metro or bus routes—or easy to take the free trolley from King Street Station. I look forward to learning and growing stronger and more “centered” as a yoga student at Refresh Yoga over the coming months and years. If you’re looking for a place to learn and practice that provides expert instruction in a warm, supportive environment, you couldn’t find a better place to do it.

TL;DR, If you are looking for a yoga studio in Old Town, and don't know where to start, start here.

Before I came to Refresh, I hadn't practiced yoga in years, not since I moved back to the States. I was incredibly hesitant--it seemed like a skinny-woman's sport/lifestyle and as a plus size woman I was nervous. Would I be judged for not being flexible enough, for taking up too much space? For not being able to wear the expensive, tight, fashionable clothes that don't come in my size but would show all my rolls?

With the encouragement of a friend, together we joined the beginners series. Let me be utterly honest here -- every pre-conceived notion I had about Yoga was broken. I love this studio so much I have not been able to bring myself to practice anywhere else.

This studio is fantastic. Set in downtown Old Town just a block back from the water you practice in rooms that over look king street. In the winter with the windows open and the lights on the trees, it's so beautiful. Class sizes are capped so you never have to worry about feeling squished like sardines in a tin as you forward fold into your neighbor.

They have rental mats for those in needs and great packages for new members. There are series that cater towards beginners, advanced practitioners, muscle group training, prenatal, and they are even a Yoga Teacher Training site. They sell locally made products by women owned businesses as well as yoga supplies.

The staff and teachers are amazing. Incredibly communicative and can help you find where you need to be in your practice, they know a modification for everything so no matter your physical issue you can still practice where you need to be at.

Lastly, the thing that truly sold me on this studio, and had me stay for over a year are the other clients and practitioners. People of all shapes, ages, and fitness levels are here. My fellow classmates have been welcoming and warm when not concentrating on their own practices during class. I have never once felt out of place because of my size, and lack of fitness. I love it here.

I immediately felt comfortable here - the teachers, fellow students, the atmosphere - it’s a place of peace and practice, not perfection. A place where it’s okay if you don’t know the names of all the poses by heart or if your sports bra doesn’t match your yoga pants. And although it’s a relatively new studio you can 100% feel that a community is beginning to take shape there. I highly recommend the Sunday night “Restorative” Class with Chelsea-it’s become part of my ritual to prepare my mind and body for the week ahead.

Awesome all the way around! I highly recommend Refresh whether you are just beginning to practice or are a full-fledged yogi. I understand that walking into a new studio can be anxiety provoking especially if you are new to yoga. Please do not let that hold you back from achieving health and wellness. Everyone at Refresh, from the staff, the teachers and the students are incredibly accommodating and compassionate. It is made clear from the onset that there are no expectations and that you practice within your own limitations. To that point, Refresh offers several different types of classes which includes everything from "restorative" yoga which is a more meditative focused class to flow yoga which is a strength building, sweat dripping class (Yogi tip: Restorative yoga directly after a vinyasa class is quite nice!)

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, having been a student for several months, I have taken at least one class with every teacher and can honestly say that I love them all. They are incredibly accommodating and helpful and not the least bit intimidating despite their truly amazing yoga skills. Every teacher at Refresh is genuinely interested in helping you further your practice. This level of compassion and dedication is why I believe you owe it to yourself to at least stop in and take a class or two. Hope you see you there sometime! Namaste.

Two years ago, I decided to get back into yoga after sporadically attending classes and truly learn yogic poses and mindfulness. I took the 4-week Beginner Workshop with Rebekah and *loved* my experience and introduction to the studio. Rather than viewing you as just another customer or treating you differently based on your experience level, every staff member and teacher I have interacted with has treated me with a genuine kindness and personalized attention I have found to be rare at other studios. I regularly take classes with Pia, Rebekah, and Chelsea, and I have built relationships with each of them. The owners of the studio are around often, as they know their members by name and welcome those who are new with open arms. All of this, combined with the location of the studio on King Street and the vast number of events they host, makes Refresh a perfect choice for any yogi. Refresh is truly a community, of which it has been such a joy to be a part!

After buying ClassPass, I have been a regular here at Refresh Yoga Center. I tried out the Stretch and Refresh class with Cynthia and then the Restorative/Yin Yoga with Chelsea before branching into both Gentle Yoga and Slow Flow Vinyasa with Pia and finally, regular Vinyasa Yoga with Chelsea. Nowadays, I usually book Vinyasa with Chelsea or Gentle Yoga with Pia.

The studio, while small, is very inviting and cozy. Due to its size, the classes are fairly small so you don't feel too cramped and can get individual, personalized support from your teachers. There are open cubbies to put your belongings, two bathrooms where you can change, coat racks, and benches for shoes. The studio is very clean and bright.

I really like the regular flow class. The Slow Flow Vinyasa is also great, a bit slower paced so that you can concentrate on your movements and breaths. Restorative/Yin and Stretch & Refresh are both fantastic options for gentle stretches and muscle and mind relaxation - I highly recommend taking these just before the work week starts! The teachers always offer modifications if you need them, which is very much appreciated.

In addition, they have Mindful Movement, which is an all-levels class designed for those with injuries, mobility issues, or going through recovery. There is a Sweat & Refresh, which is a HIIT class, and a Core Strength & Length, which helps you build your core with focus on abs, hips, glutes, and the back. They even have a prenatal yoga class. For beginners, they do offer a 4-week beginner series ($75).

New students get unlimited classes for two weeks at $30. Great opportunity to check out the studio and the classes. Otherwise, a single class is $20 and 5-class pack is $95. There are other membership options for monthly members.

I have been on and off yoga for years, but I feel that I will be on for much longer this time around due to Refresh Yoga Center. I love taking classes with Chelsea and Pia - they are both great at giving instructions both verbally and with hands-on assistance, and their voices evoke instant calmness. Since trying out Refresh, I have been at least twice a week (unless I'm on travel) and I always look forward to going back!

I took the Beginners Series in January/February 2018. While I've dabbled in yoga for many years, this was a great class to refine my feet, arms, and other positions. Vinyasa classes feel a little fast for me right now, so this class shed light on areas to continue to improve upon. Rebekah does a fantastic job helping you understand the modifications that work for each student.

Low key studio with really strong instructors. A favorite of mine in the area for it's ability to welcome all. There are many studios closer to me but I go out of my way for classes here.

I love Refresh! It's the best yoga studio I've found in the DC area since moving down a year and a half ago. I tried quite a few with ClassPass and wound up forgoing my CP membership in favor of attending more Refresh classes. I'm pretty new to yoga, and I've never felt anything but welcomed by all the instructors. Kathryn and Pia are so friendly and their classes are very dynamic and encouraging. They always offer modifications so you can really tailor your practice to your own comfort level. I always leave feeling both challenged and relaxed! The vinyasa classes always have a mix of people of all skill levels and ages.

The studio is very simple and pretty and always clean. It does get a bit hot depending on the weather but the instructors are always quick to adjust the temperature. Really it's just a delightful studio and I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often!

First class at Refresh and I was welcomed and made to feel at home. It was nice to gaze out the windows at the trees and hear the birds singing during class!

I LOVE attending classes at Refresh! I've enjoyed every class I've taken! All of the teachers are great :) The 6:15 AM classes on Tues/Thurs mornings are my favorite. The class is challenging but fun! It is the perfect way to start the day!

Refresh yoga center has become a second home for me. I truly love the community this studio has cultivated and the professionalism, nonjudgement, and variety refresh brings to the table. Training there as a student and attending their 200 RYT was and continues to be a wonderfully enriching experience!

I had not done any yoga for almost 7 years when I decided to get back into it as a way to combat stress, deal with increasing joint pain and get back into shape. I wanted to find a place that felt homey and comfortable. This is that place! All the staff I have had experience with are warm, encouraging and supportive. There is always an emphasis on only doing what you can do, listening to your own body and not worrying about what others around you may or may not be doing. They seem to go out of their way to make sure there is an inclusiveness to the classes and the instructors are very sensitive to each individual's needs. I would highly recommend Refresh Yoga Center!

Best studio in town! I've been coming to this studio for years now and they offer a wide range of fantastic classes. The teachers are kind, knowledgeable, and caring. The studio is super clean (no dirt in all the corners!) and located in a super fun area of Old Town Alexandria. I highly recommend giving them a try. They offer a great new student deal and lots of workshops. Namaste!

Refresh is a nice change of pace from the other old town studios. I'm pretty shy and not very sporty I don't feel out of place or out of my league everyone all shapes and sizes and levels are welcome so I enjoy the atmosphere here more .

Refresh Yoga and Kathryn were Awesome to work with in setting up an offsite experience for our OTA Annual Meeting at National Harbor Convention Center! Very easy to work with. Great customer service.

Aida did an outstanding job working with our group ranging from beginners to experienced yogis. Everyone in my group was appreciative of the yoga and Tai Chi classes and were very impressed with the Aida.

I could go on and on, but the 5 stars pretty much says it all.

I have been to classes with a few teachers. I have to say hands down though that Andre is one of the best instructors around. If you're into expanding your yoga practice then this is the spot. I went from not be able to do a shoulder stand to being able to do one and push from crow into a handstand with the intro pass and a few more classes on my own. Great atmosphere, and I absolutely love the little chilling towels. Essential.

Refresh Yoga Center, located in historic heart of Old Town has become my favorite place for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. All teachers are very personable and professional. It' s been a pleasure to attend "Heated Vinyasa" with Emily. Emily is A+ Instructor and her playlist fits the class perfectly.
"Restorative Yoga for runners and athletes" with Pia is absolutely rockin session, which reminds me to sign up for next her class on Saturday :-)

Great studio, nice location, awesome instructors, positive environment. I always find free parking a block or two away from King Street, however I'd highly recommend taking even a longer walk in Old Town Alexandria. Heated Vinyasa classes are a blast! Now they even have Restorative Yoga for Runners and Athletes - exactly what I need. Highly recommend this studio to new yogis and experienced ones.

I recently tried out Refresh Yoga because they offer heated yoga classes in Old Town. The studio has a great feeling to it and was very clean. I know they offer a lot of non heated classes, but I took Alison's heated Vinyasa class on Tuesday nights. They heat the room to 85 degrees which was perfect for me. It was hot enough to get me sweating, but not too hot to overheat. A great workout. The class had a good flow to it and I would certainly come back.

Refresh Yoga offers a great location right on King Street, and is a beautiful place to practice yoga. Most of their classes are Vinyasa Flow classes which is great because you know you will get a great workout, and you know what to expect when you are there! I also thought the teachers were really good at adjusting appropriately to the level of the class.
