In 2019, I was nearly scheduled for spinal fusion surgery because of serious paralysis in my legs. Three different surgeons told me I had no other option.

Then fate stepped in — I wandered into Zweet Sport Hot Yoga (now Rising Sole Yoga) and met Kimberly Sickman. She suggested I see her chiropractor and start doing hot yoga. I figured I had nothing to lose.

Six years later, I’m pain-free — running, golfing, and skiing again like I used to. No surgery. No medication. Just time, patience, and the right people guiding me.

I’ll forever be grateful to Kimberly and everyone at Rising Sole Yoga for giving me my life back. You’ve made a bigger difference than you’ll ever know.

This yoga school is not just a hot yoga studio. It’s a home to many wonderful and skilled teachers from different lineages. They put people and practice of yoga at the forefront of their business and that’s why they are so invested in building a community of like minded people. Definitely check it out, try to get their own membership instead of ClassPass if you could as that would mean you’re supporting the small business directly. Namaste.

This is an extremely welcoming studio! I was visiting from Seattle and I was very impressed by the professionalism and kind atmosphere at Rising Sol. I took the 26-2 class, and I am still using one of the cues I heard during my class in my current practice. I wish I could have taken more classes here during my trip!

I love this yoga studio. I have now been going for over a year, and the Hot Power Flow with Barbara is my favorite class by far. She is so knowledgeable. I learn something new from her in each class. I highly recommend this studio.

Took me a long time to find a studio post Covid that was as accepting and inclusive as Rising Sol. Great instructors. Diverse classes. Fantastic space. Complete acceptance of all levels of yoga. Don’t skip an opportunity to take a class here! I’ve been coming here since 2022 and I have found a sanctuary. The teachers stress practice over perfect. And there are always modifications to meet you where you are that day and in your yoga learning journey. So many different kinds of yoga taught- power, vinyasa, ashtanga, nidra, yin, bishnu gosh. With fun pop up, community and workshop classes. And yes, there’s easy street parking. And blocks to use and mats for rent. Showers. Changing rooms. They have it all. This studio is a MUST for any yogi (or even yogi-curious) passing through Old Town

This place gets packed, gets hot, and you'll be looking at a waiting list if you wait until the last minute. But it's a great way to get your body moving for a workout or recovery.

I have been attending Rising Sol since February 2022, and it's long overdue for me to share my love for this place and, more importantly, the people. The instructors are truly exceptional, each bringing their unique strengths and energy to the classes.

Barbara is amazing, whether it's power flow or hips and hamstrings. Her great playlists are a bonus! Kimberly excels in her workshop-style Bishnu Ghosh classes, where I learned the breakdown of poses and when to progress. Katie is excellent at pacing her Vinyasa class, introducing new movement flows and challenging stability, which has greatly improved my balance. Amy is both encouraging and challenging in her Tone and Stretch and Hip and Hamstrings classes. And Kelynn has recently started Warm Yin, and I absolutely love her vibe and energy with this new style.

And those are just a few of the fantastic instructors at Rising Sol. Every instructor here is extraordinary in their style and impressive at creating a welcoming and accessible class. Pick any class, and you will have an incredible experience. Be prepared to sweat and remember to stay hydrated for 24-48 hours afterward!

A great studio and yoga community to learn and practice. This is a studio where the instructors take time to know and greet everyone by name.

Kimberly (Bishnu Ghosh 90) will challenge you, yet she is patient with all of her students, old and new. She is one of those rare instructors that takes the time to explain the how and the why of the postures.

I also tried the power flow - that is one of the most challenging 60 mins. Of yoga flows I’ve ever tried. Non stop moving!

I started at the studio with the hips, spine and hamstring 60 which is a great practice and good introduction to the hot room.

This is not like other studios so come with an open mind to practice and grow.

I love going to class here and being a part of the community. The owner is very professional and knowledgeable. The teachers are so talented and authentic. Each one of them brings a special energy to the classes they teach. All of the ones I've been to genuinely make you feel seen and want their students to grow and improve their practice. The facilities are clean, parking is accessible on the nearby streets, and I really appreciate their organized and flexible booking process. This place is one of my favorite things about living in Alexandria and I'm so happy I found it. The students that come here also have a very welcoming and helpful vibe.

I started doing Hot Yoga here a year ago and was instantly hooked. They have very flexible schedule and many different types of yoga. All instructors are welcoming from advanced to beginner. I have been to every class and recommend each one. If you are experiencing low back pain, the Bishnu Ghosh and 26 / 2 taught by Kimberly, Christine, and Katie is the best medicine.

I found their staff rude. Beware that they close their doors right on time. I was late just 3 mins once and couldn’t get in. I waited for the next class thinking they could just let me switch since I already paid for the class, but instead the instructor wanted me to pay for the next class. Not forgiving at all to people’s schedules. They should either invest in having lockers customers can put their belongings to or message customers a code to get in as some other studios do. Very disappointed since I heard good things about this place.

So glad I can finally post this review now that I've moved away from the area and won't bump into people I know from the studio. It has a culty/cliquey vibe and I didn't want to deal with any drama for talking about this. A few years ago, around the end of 2021 or maybe early 2022, I was struggling with an eating disorder, like really, really going through it. I lost a ton of weight in an unhealthy way and wasn't proud of it. During class one day the owner, Kimberly, called out in the middle of the class in front of everyone: "Hey A A, you lost weight, you look great" and I was just like, "Um, thanks" hoping she would leave it at that. But she kept going, "What are you doing differently? I bet you feel a lot better. Do you feel a lot better?" ...this was in a room full of people in the middle of a yoga class; we were literally moving from a downward dog into a high plank when she said it. It was a truly violating experience and Kimberly either couldn't tell or didn't care that I was uncomfortable. I'm doing a lot better now but I often think about how inappropriate her comments were. Commenting on someone's body? In a yoga class? Yikes.

This is the best yoga studio I have been to in Northern Virginia. The women who run this studio and their instructors have cultivated an amazing community. The classes offered at Rising Sol are challenging and accessible to all levels. I highly recommend this studio to anyone who wants to practice yoga regularly or who just needs to drop in on a class or two while they are in town.

I was deeply immersed in the yoga experience at Sol Rising Hot Yoga! The studio exudes a sense of oneness with the practice and a genuine connection with like-minded individuals. Their diverse classes, from Hot Hamstrings, Hips + Spines to Hot Dharma, from Hot Intermediate Hatha to Hot Power Flow, provided limitless opportunities to explore and expand my practice. The free community class on Saturdays embodied the true essence of seva (selfless service) and added to the sense of yoga unity. Highly recommended for all yogis seeking a harmonious and authentic journey!

I’ve just moved to the area from California and have been on a quest to find my new yoga studio. The 3 instructors I’ve had so far have been wonderful. Amy’s 6:15 pm “Hot Tone and Stretch” class on March 8th, was it for me though. It was pure magic and I slept like baby that night. I’m excited to continue my yoga practice with Rising Sol!

I’ve been coming to Rising Sol ☀️ for about 2 years now. At first, I would buy the 10 class pass and use it over 3 months every few months. Then i started really enjoying the community / teachers so I decided that I wanted to see what would happen if I put my gym membership on hold (you know… cause we on a budget 😉) and tried unlimited for 3 months and never looked back. So glad I did!

The classes are for all levels, the app is so easy (!!) to use/book and all you need is to make it to the studio. 100% recommend and wish to welcome you to this community. My favs during the week are "Hamstrings, Hips and Spines" (great for moving more slowly & recovery), Hot Tone (usually there’s a focus area) and Power at 8am on Sundays or 7:30s with Chris & Barbara during the week.

Update: Feb 2024
I decided to try my hand at teacher training and it was the best decision I made in 2023!

I used to be a devoted CorePower member until I discovered Rising Sol after moving to Old Town. Let me tell you, Rising Sol takes yoga to a whole new level. Their classes never leave you feeling burnt out and they constantly switch things up to keep it interesting. The dharma meditation sessions are so peaceful and rejuvenating. The hot hips and spine classes really bring a spark to my practice. And of course, the Hot Power flow is absolutely incredible. Rising Sol has easily become my favorite yoga studio without a doubt. I decided to go all in and get the unlimited membership back in June, and trust me, it's worth every penny!

I have been coming to this studio for over four years now. This yoga community has become an important part of my life and has helped me improve myself mentally, physically, and spiritually. The teachers emphasize doing your best at whatever you are able to do today and not compare yourself to others or what you *think you should b
e able to do. This principle has helped me in other areas of my life too. Accept yourself and be kind to yourself.
Highly recommend Rising Sol if you're looking for a yoga home!

This studio embodies yoga philosophy is all senses. Not the highest-tech, state-of-the-art facility trying to sell me oils and beads as I walk in. I really like this studio, and I'm considering a membership. But, I went to a class this week for a first time in a while and I was disappointed to learn there were no wipes or mat wash to clean off the blocks/mat. I even inquired with the instructor after class. This is basic hygiene, and at $150+ for a monthly membership, this seems like the very least they could provide.
