great facility, the setting was spot on, had to get adjusted to a color based grading system, but it worked nicely with the setting style. accommodating for climbers of all skill levels and a 2016/2024 moon board. Will definitely be coming back/recommending friends!

What a great climbing gym! The pictures donβt do it justince. A good sized main bouldering room, a nice traverse wall in the mezzanine, two sections of weight, cardio, and plyo room, and a more horizontal wall area with some hang boards and a moon board. Craig was awesome and the atmosphere was outstanding. Will definitely be back many more times.

This is a great bouldering gym. They have a lot of variety with the routes, It's bouldering only (which is great if you're like me and only do bouldering). Everyone was friendly, and they had people of all skill levels, which is great for people new to rock climbing. If you're in the area, definitely check it out!

Awesome place to climb. You can get a 10 punch pass to try it out. Employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. There's something called "the bat cave" that's a traverse wall on the second floor, great for kids.

I'm not much of a climber, but I came here with friends a few weeks ago... And I still had a lot of fun here. They do have a lot of options for beginner and intermediate routes (which I appreciated)-- and other types of workout equipment.
So it should be a good time for anybody looking for a workout, regardless of your skill level with rock climbing.

I love this place! This is where I first started bouldering! They change the routes on Wednesdays, and never disappoint, ranging from all levels. The people who work here are awesome and very attentive. 100% recommend if you're into or wanting to start bouldering!

Nice little bouldering gym with varied walls and a lot of overhang. Unfortunately, like many gyms, the grades are tough and a bit random, and the setting doesn't favor smaller people.

I've been to many climbing gyms before this is by far my favorite. It's 17 dollars per person as well as 3 for shoes. 20 dollars for a day pass is fantastic. The climbs never get old as they change them on a regular basis I strongly recommend this climbing gym

Let me start out by saying I am new to bouldering. Very friendly staff. Eager to help and answer questions. Very laid back atmosphere. Everyone is super willing to help and offer tips. It's been a great place to start bouldering! A lot of people are commenting about the size of the gym as a con, but honestly, it's been nice, as I think I would feel more intimidated in a bigger gym.

This is the first place I ever went bouldering, and now climbing is one of my favorite things! People here, both the staff and the other climbers, were very friendly to me as a newcomer and helped me get used to the scary feelings of falling! The climbing problems are always varied and fun challenges.
This is a great place to bring new and experienced climbing friends, just be sure to note the busy hours because it can get kind of hectic when classes are going on in the early evening.
FOR NEWCOMERS TO CLIMBING: bouldering is climbing short (13ft here) walls with no harness or ropes, but with a very safe and thick foam pad at the bottom to catch you when you fall. Rocky Top is a bouldering gym and does not offer top rope or other climbing except in very specific circumstances - they do have a top rope and a silk hanging from the ceiling, but theyβre always pulled to the side and Iβve never seen them in use.

I came here with some friends I was visiting and it was my first bouldering experience, and I had a ton of fun! Iβm not the best at climbing, but there were plenty of beginner climbs that I got to try, and I completed each one! It wasnβt too crowded, but this gym overall had a lot to offer. My friends mainly utilize the climbing walls, but there was also space for workout equipment.
I had such a great time and would definitely go climbing again!

We went here yesterday because my 6 year old daughter has been asking to go rock climbing. After comparing a few places we decided to to here. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. They showed us around and explained how things worked. They make a small space really work well here! No space seems wasted. My daughter had a lot of fun climbing and we will definitely visit again.

Great Rock climbing gym. There are a few roped climbs, but most of the gym is boldering: climbing under 15ft high. There are super thick mats to cushion your fall from the limit. Really fun, kid friendly, (for better or worse) happy to host parties.

A great alternative and trending activity to stay fit. I would not recommend this place for children under the age of 10 due to high heights, older people, and difficulty of the rockwall. I would also not recommend older folks for similar reasons. The place is pretty expensive, with a one time pass, rental shoes, and chalkbag being close to $20, 11 time pass being a little over $100 and a monthly membership being $64. So not cheap, but very thrilling, very fun and exciting, and great music to go along with you climbing experience. I cam here with my cousin Max and every time we would climb a wall we would fist bump. It was our first "bonding moment" since we had never truly spent time with each other before. So definitely a great place to experience more than just climbing up a wall. Very friendly staff, and an even more friendly community. I myself was climbing up a difficult wall, and had Max, and three strangers cheering me on. Sure enough I got that fist bump! The cost is worth is, and the 11 time pass never expires, so although Max is all the way in California, he can still come back and climb with me!

This place has done some serious renovation work in the last 2-3 years. They've added more climbing space and generally increased the niceness level. It's focused on bouldering because it's just not that tall but there is a good mix of skill ratings on the climbs. There are a few top rope climbs but most people boulder. They've also added some nice programming like after school kid's clubs and adult competitive leagues.
It is on the smaller side of climbing gyms I've been to, but it's not the smallest! This gym also has showers and some lockers, some cardio machines and a decent but smallish weight room. I like that they have things like olympic rings and kettle bells and other functional training stuff in addition to more pedestrian weight equipment.
It can be a little crowded on a rainy afternoon/evening but it's kind of fun to hang out with the climbing crowd.

I started climbing here with zero experience, the staff was super helpful and the people that climb here tend to be friendly and offer help and encouragement to new climbers. They also constantly change the routes to keep it fun and interesting; I'm nearing a year of climbing here, and every week I find something new to work on. I wish I knew of this place sooner during my time in cville.

I climb here regularly, but this is no huge gym for anyone looking to top rope or get in some sport route training. But it's an excellent and growing bouldering gym with challenging and creative route setters. Plus they offer weights, cardio equipment, a single racquetball court. Also offers a small selection of climbing shoes and accessories. Great if you love the small hole in the wall kind of gyms. I'd love to see more kid sized routes for my kids though.

Rocky top is rad. The member base is super welcoming and the staff are friendly. The route setting is creative and high quality.
