This place has forever changed my life and has given me a sense of community that has been a pillar for me. I am so grateful to Brandon and what he has created here, as well as to the people who show up and perpetuate this positive culture that strives for everyone to do well no matter where they are at. If you’re looking for a gym to help you when you feel down and out or you want to attain a fitness goal or anywhere in between, you’re in the right spot. Brandon definitely programs the right mix of functional fitness and weightlifting.

In 2023, I decided to give CrossFit a try after being bored by going to a regular gym and running occasionally. I had been hesitant because I heard about injuries and how intimidating CrossFit gyms can be. RYSE has none of that. Right from the start I experienced a very welcoming community and for the first couple of weeks, coach Brandon took extra time at the beginning of each class to walk me through the various exercises, including small video analysis. Two years later, I made great progress, found new friends, and did not have a single injury! Every workout is fun and challenging, it never gets boring. Brandon is leading a CrossFit gym with consistent and knowledgeable coaches, focus on good form, individual attention to each athlete's needs and goals, and continuous investments in the facility and equipment. It doesn't get any better than that, I highly recommend giving RYSE CrossFit a try!

I have been apart of this community for multiple years now and it’s been a great part of my life. The community is very welcoming and a joy to suffer with. I have been at RYSE CF for 6 years. Whether you're a seasoned CrossFitter or you want to give CrossFit a try, RYSE will help you reach your goals. There is no "one size fits all" approach to programming; depending on your specific fitness needs, every workout can be scaled or modified for YOU. The RYSE community is there to cheer you along - but also to challenge you to do better than you did yesterday!!!

Walked out of CrossFit North Reston and was greeted by this spectacle in the sky! Can't guarantee you'll get a rainbow with every visit, but I do get a great workout every time I'm in town and drop in here. They have a great coaching staff and positive community. If you're in the area I highly recommend given them a try.

In June 2015, my husband and I showed up for our first-ever Crossfit class. We had no idea what to expect... I had never in my life picked up a barbell. Four years later, I consider myself a pretty experienced Crossfitter and continue to find joy in my workouts. But my journey with CFNR is about so much more than my journey with Crossfit. CFNR, to me, is about community and friendship as much as it is about working out. My husband and I are stronger and happier for the time that we spend at the box with our friends, and I am grateful every day for this wonderful, generous group of people who come together to work out, yes, but also to support one another more generally in their lives. We've attended weddings, celebrated birthdays, welcomed babies, and held each other up through many, many milestones. It's really hard for me to separate the "working out" piece from the larger story of what it means to come to the box every day. I'm proud of how strong I have become, yes, but I am equally proud of how much of my time and myself I have given to this community and how much I have received from it in turn. My life is fuller, richer, happier, and more complete because of CFNR, and I am grateful for its owner, its coaches, and its athletes every single day.

This gym is an excellent place with good equipment, professional and friendly coaches, well done WODs and it’s in a great location. I enjoyed my time there and when I return to the states i will definitely go there to train again.

I was member here for two years after moving to the area with my girlfriend. It's a great community with not only great members but a knowledge and experienced coaching staff. I saw a lot of progress as a CrossFit athlete and was able to reach some of the goals I had for myself.
The facility has the equipment to accommodate an athlete at any level. You consistently have the same coaches which I enjoyed because they got to know you on a personal level(strengths, weaknesses, goals, etc). Highly recommend!

I've been a member since 2016 and it's been wonderful to find my CrossFit family at CFNR. This is a community of people who support one another in their goals, seek to continuously improve themselves, believe in service to their community and genuinely want to have fun while getting fit and maintaining health. This starts with the coaches and is infectious throughout the box. I had taken about 18 months off from CrossFit, and when we moved to Reston I tried a few different places but CFNR felt like home. I continued working out through my pregnancy and the support I received throughout was instrumental in staying healthy while carrying and preparing myself for labor and delivery. In the year since having a baby, CFNR has been there for me through all the ups and downs of recovery and getting fit again. This is the third box I've been a member of since starting CF in 2012 and it's where I've made the most progress, had the best coaching, and it's been the most inclusive. From nutrition support, to social events, CFNR has become an integral part of my life and I'm so grateful for that.

One of my closest friends is a crossfit coach and has been encouraging me for years to give it a try. I always had a plethora of excuses: “I'm too old | out of shape | injured | overweight | not enough time ... “ You name it, I had reasons why it wasn't for me.
After realizing that my knees were at risk for replacements, I decided to give it a try. My friend researched the boxes in my area and suggested that I check out CrossFit North Reston based on their extensive onboarding program and the quality of the coaching team.
As nervous as I was, I was immediately put at ease by the warmth and encouragement of the members and the coaches. As you've probably guessed, I'm far from an athlete, but I felt right at home from the start.
The coaching staff is superb! And I cannot speak highly enough of head coach Carolyn Davis. She is consistently professional, knowledgeable, and encouraging. She's quite skilled at scaling the WODs to meet me where I am. Because of her ability to individualize and tailor the workouts as I've needed, I've had the time and space to learn each movement, still do a ton of work, make progress, and do it safely.
Not only has Carolyn been an incredible crossfit coach, she's an amazing nutritionist! She's creative in her approach and incorporates challenges, community, and health in a fun and accessible way.
I've had the great good fortune to work with all the coaches at CFNR, and I can assure you that you can't go wrong with any of them. They're passionate about health, offer excellent coaching tips, and are each inspiring and encouraging.
Lastly, I'm delighted to report that I'm stronger, am no longer at risk for knee replacements for at least a decade, and have lost 2 1/2 clothing sizes. I feel better than I have in years and look forward to continuing my progress. Thank you all, Tommy, Carolyn, Jen, Brandon, David, Heather, and the entire community.

I’ve been a member of CrossFit North Reston for around 6 months now and enjoyed every minute of it. The coaches have tons of knowledge and are willing to give guidance and help out no matter the skill level of the athlete. I highly recommend whether you are looking for a new gym, wanting to change your workout routine, looking for guidance in nutrition/fitness or even dropping in from out of town!

I spent years working out at Gold’s Gym, Planet Fitness, Crunch, etc but eventually plateaued and got bored with doing the same workouts every week. I tried the P90X/Insanity series and Orange Theory but felt I was losing the strength I had worked so hard to build up. I decided to try CrossFit and joined CFNR in 2015. I can honestly say it’s been one of the best decisions of my life. I found at CFNR what I was missing in all my years working out – variety, competition, and community. The owner (Tommy) and coaches (Carolyn, David, Brandon, Jen, Joe, Heather, and Kevin) have built an amazing athlete community and are extremely knowledgeable. They truly take the time to get to know all of their athletes. The programming is fresh and different every day. The members make the workouts competitive and fun. The gym is reasonably priced and Tommy has taken great care to make sound investments to improve the gym experience. All in all, it is a very welcoming and supportive environment for athletes of all skill levels. For anyone looking to break from the monotony of doing the same workout every day and join a great community of athletes, I highly recommend you try CFNR!

I stepped into this gym by accident 18 months ago thinking it was another gym and from the very first moment, the coaches, owner, and other members were inviting and enthusiastic. The owner, Tommy, immediately adjusted his schedule to give me a trial class and from that first class I've been hooked. The coaches are experienced and knowledgeable and always willing to take an extra moment to give pointers and suggestions and even take video so you can see what they are evaluating. In the 18 months I've been a member, I attribute my success and excitement about CrossFit to the coaching staff and the community. My progress is undoubtedly in part b/c of the great mindset of the entire group of people that step foot in that place every day. Can't say enough good things about this gym, the ownership, and the coaching staff. It's been a game changer for me.

CFNR - Strongly recommended for anyone new to CrossFit or seasoned vets. I started CrossFit here a year & half ago with no idea what to expect. I was out of shape and only used to do isolation type lifts at your local Globo-gym. CrossFit in general but this gym in particular allowed me to start from the basics and focus on full body movements, building my strength, and establishing metabolic conditioning that was never there before. During my travels I have dropped in other CrossFit gyms. What I appreciate about this box over the rest is the constant focus on the fundamentals, emphasis on strength training, and overall community feel.

I went into CFNR with some hesitation I had checked out other Crossfit boxes and heard many different stories from friends. Needless to say I was not only skeptical but slightly intimidated due to my past experiences and hearsay.
I was pleasantly not only surprised but excited. The coaches there are terrific! They not only are very skilled and motivating but they actually showed me that my fitness goals are actually obtainable.
I have drank the koolaid and joined the cult of Crossfit and I am physically and mentally better for it in every way!
Crossfit North Reston is the super duper bestest!!!!

Safety first. So many CrossFit workout groups focus on speed and not on safety. I have seen so many injuries from participants in CrossFit. This place is safety oriented. Thier clients are EXTREMELY competitive -- yet injury free. It is a wonderful small community within this CrossFit. Don't be surprised if there are birthday cupcakes or a CONGRADUTLATIONS banner in the lobby. It is a very nice place to get your best body. I had to learn to lift from the beginning. I had acquired dangerous habits from another program a mile away. Nice swimming pools don't make up for injuries. I use to lift too heavy and completely incorrectly. I had been using energy poorly - doing more work and less progression. I now lift lighter weights in a safer logical fashion. I have lost 4 inches in my waist in 6 months. My enthusiasm is contagious because I look fit and happy and motivated and younger. I thank all my coaches for providing me a safe work out that is competitive.

I started attending Crossfit North Reston (CFNR) the day it opened. I previously attended Hammer Down Crossfit, the "sister box," to CFNR. The majority of the coaches instruct at both boxes. As a result, I have almost two years of experience learning and working with them. They are all knowledgeable, supportive and welcoming.
I travel frequently and have visited boxes all over the country and overseas. I would never drop-in into another box without previously contacting them and making prior arrangements. Not only is it policy for most boxes, it is common courtesy.
CFNR is an excellent option for newbies, experience Crossfitters and visitors.

I've been to a couple of Crossfit boxes around the area and I joined up with North Reston because of how much attention the coaches pay attention to form and safety. I've only been doing Crossfit for about a year and I feel everyone here is genuinely invested in my continuing to improve. It's a friendly place but I also appreciate the professionalism when it comes to safety and fairness to the athletes.

I've dropped in a few times at Crossfit North Reston, and always had a great experience. The box is clean and well maintained, and the community is extremely warm and welcoming. Most importantly the coaching is top quality, focusing on form and proper technique to avoid injuries, always paying attention to the athletes. I've been to a few boxes around the country and would highly recommend this one to anyone in the area!

This will serve as a reply to George Bekmezian’s untoward comment. This is Todd Katz, co-owner of CrossFit North Reston and owner of Hammer Down CrossFit, responding. First, while we welcome “drop-ins” (visiting folks from out of town) our website clearly states our policy about requesting that you contact us first, so we know when to expect you, and coming early to class to sign our waiver. In George’s case, he didn’t bother to comply with any of our policies and just showed up right as class was starting. One of the reasons we ask people to show up early is so we can have more than a 15 second conversation before class starts. We want to know people's history with CrossFit. We like to ask a lot of questions about their health and physical condition, where they CrossFit, and what issues they may have doing certain exercises. Now while George may not have had any issues, as an owner I can't make that assumption. Our policy is also designed to respect our members’ time so that class isn’t unnecessarily held up for folks who have little consideration for others. Second, while CrossFit North Reston is a new location, it is far from a start up. I have been owning and operating a sister affiliate for over five years and am dedicated to providing a good CrossFit experience to my members as well as “drop ins”. However, in order to ensure that this occurs, we simply ask that our “drop-in” visitors comply with our policy. Since this appears to have been too much to ask of George, then all I can do is wish him the best elsewhere.

This is clearly a startup box and I feel bad leaving this review, but I feel like I have to do it for the sake of others. I have been doing CrossFit for a few years now and have visited boxes in cities all over the country. It is unfortunate that I have to report this was the most unwelcoming experience I have ever had. So, if you are from out of town I recommend finding another box in the area (there is another one with a very similar name not too far away which I attended previously and I had a VERY different experience there).
