The new(ish) studio on Ivy is spectacular! It is a serene place with a lovely sitting area to unwind after class. Shannon is a ray of sunshine and her staff (an army!!!) are uniquely talented. I love the deep blue color of the main studio with its brushed bronze touches. There are 2 nice bathrooms and a water cooler. Shannon has high quality merch and jewelry as well. I always leave walking on air.

This yoga studio is the most welcoming and community-oriented studio I’ve been to! I use Classpass to try different work outs but I keep coming back here because the classes are the perfect amount of challenging and fun. Shannon is the best and engages with every one of her students!

Gorgeous studio, incredible teachers, beautiful community and phenomenal yoga. I have done yoga for almost 20 years and was in search for a new studio in the area - I was craving something different. Something with more depth but also that would challenge me. My first class at Salute the Sun I left sweaty, challenged and deeply nourished on a soul level. Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned yogi Salute the Sun will bring you exactly what you need and then some ❤️

I attended Veronica's Slow Flow class and it was such a beautiful experience! She was a calm and reassuring guide who went slow and helped with positions. The studio is beautiful, clean, and peaceful.

I don't even know where to begin! Salute the Sun is a yoga oasis! A place where you will feel welcome, the instructors will learn your name, treat you with respect, work your body, and play some fresh tunes. I have been doing yoga for 18 years, three times a week , and the instructors still challenge me with new poses. I feel lucky to have this studio and these teachers in Charlottesville!

Salute the Sun is a beautiful yoga studio filled with even more beautiful humans! It’s easy to feel welcomed here with the gregarious teachers and positive atmosphere. I have thoroughly enjoyed every class I’ve taken— from vinyasa to yin. If you’re looking for a yoga home, this is it!

Love this studio! I’ve taken classes with each of the teachers, and every single time I’m amazed by the creativity they bring to their flows. The classes are always engaging and challenging in the best ways.
It’s clear how much care the owner, Shannon, puts into creating a welcoming and inspiring space. She’s deeply invested in both her students and her teachers, which keeps me coming back multiple times a week. Truly the loveliest studio to practice in!

Unfortunately the address on maps isn’t the actual address of the studio and led to a missed reservation as I scrambled to get to class on time…because I arrived to their old location 15 minutes before and got to their new location with 1 minute left before the reservation. Door is locked when you arrive even if it is right on the dot with a sign that says yoga class in session, so they really aren’t flexible when it comes to these things with the customer ultimately paying the price. I’m sure they have a lot to offer but as somebody who was going to try a first class, it really does leave a bad taste in your mouth, even if it was partially your mistake.

This is my home away from home! Shannon, Lavon, MaryAnn, Michael and so many other wonderful teachers keep me coming back. Warm vinyasa is my favorite class— the Goldilocks of yoga: not too hot, not too cold; not too intense, not too easy; not too athletic focused, not overly woowoo — just right. The community spans ages, body types, and abilities. The best!

We dropped in for a class while visiting from out of town. It was an exceptional experience! Shannon was warm and welcoming, and even though we hadn't done a vinyasa class in a while, it was easy to follow along with the great instruction. Highly recommend!

I love this studio so much. It's warm (literally and figuratively) and welcoming. The staff are fantastic and kind and creative. Shannon will meet you once and remember your name; I've never met anyone who is more accurately described as "lighting up a room" - her energy is incredible. Definitely worth checking out !

This is by far my favorite yoga studio I’ve ever been to! It always smells amazing (they sell their own candles!), so clean, and a zen environment. I truly can’t pick my favorite instructor since they’re all so amazing!! It’s conveniently located and has lots of parking! I’d recommend this beautiful yoga studio to anyone looking to stretch their mind and bodies!

The best studio experience I've ever had. I delight in the variety of offerings, and no matter what sort of class I've tried (Yin, Yinyasa, Warm Vinyasa, Gentle Yoga etc.), I always leave better for it. I look forward to the occasional emails as well because there is always some unexpected and spectacular offerings that fall outside the norm (e.g. workshops). Some of the most talented, warm, community-focused instructors I've had. Special kudus to Lavon, Madison, Chet, & Anya!

Amazing yoga studio with excellent instructors. There are a full range of classes to meet all fitness levels, and even the "difficult" classes are very supportive with lots of modifications offered by the instructors. When I need an intense/aerobic workout I go to one of their incredible power classes, and when I need something more restorative I go to a gentle/yin class. So happy I found this place <3

I don’t think I can properly express how much I’ve enjoyed Salute the Sun! I got my start with yoga online during the pandemic and didn’t have much experience with yoga classes when I first started coming here. I found that coming to the studio deepened and strengthened my practice in a way I’d been yearning for. While I love my home practice, coming to the studio, setting up my mat alongside other folks, and practicing together is something incredible. I tried out most of the other spots in Charlottesville for yoga and found salute the sun was the best fit for me - it’s close to the university, has a variety of different people and skill levels in class, and most of all, every teacher I’ve met has been incredible. There are a number of different styles of teachers, but the one thing that brings them all together is their kindness and warmth. The variety of classes is also great - I’ve been challenged and dripped sweat during a Power Vinyasa, and cleared my mind and settled into a Yin yoga class. The studio itself is cozy, bright, and a nice temperature without being too hot, plus there are infrared lamps that you can lay your mat under if you want a little extra heat. All the teachers are wonderful, but I especially love Lavon and Malena’s classes. Shannon, the owner, is super and very on top of it, and also teaches some classes that are just so creative and fun. Overall highly recommend Salute the Sun - and your first class is free if you just want to try it out.

I am new to STSY and am loving it so far. I purchased a two-week unlimited pass in December. The instructors are all skilled and experienced. I've appreciated the variety of classes, styles, and intensity levels. The studio has a large wall of windows, a hard floor for stability, and ample parking. The events, workshops, and retreats all sound wonderful!

There is something for everyone at this studio!! I love the variety of classes and well-trained instructors. Everyone is so accommodating and supportive. It’s a VIBE!! A really good, positive one. I have a lot of personal back/pelvic things going on right now and everyone has been wonderful with helping me modify. Really grateful for this space.

Great yoga studio! I love the hard wood floors for balance and the dark colors of the space which create a relaxing atmosphere. Best thing is the schedule - there are classes at almost every hour of the day so something always works with your calendar.

I love this yoga studio so much. They have a wide range of class offerings in different yoga styles. I also enjoy their pop-up’s - something unique to a yoga studio that I have never experienced before. My favorite locations have been at the Wool Factory and at Veritas Winery. Yoga and a communal drink? Yes, please!

I moved recently from CT and as a regular practitioner, I was looking for a yoga studio in Charlottesville. I had gone to a couple of studios and they were fine. Then a neighbor recommended Salute the Sun Yoga and I was hooked the first time I went: great class, great vibe, nice and cozy studio and the best: great people! Relaxed, friendly and low key. Love the teacher and student community!

I took a power vinyasa class here taught by Caroline and it was fabulous. The environment was inviting, the energy was healing. Much of this probably had to do with Caroline. I usually could not care less for guided meditations, but her narration during the meditation portion of the class was masterful and even moving. I literally felt stress and emotions move through my body (and those of the people around me, it felt like a shared experience). Love this spot, can't wait to go back!!

Best new yoga studio in Cville! Shannon Burns who has a huge following left another studio and during the pandemic, starting with pop up classes in beautiful locations and then landed in this convenient location just outside of town this Spring. Her instructors are friendly, accessible, very knowledgeable. The variety of weekly and pop up classes and levels is amazing, including mornings at local wineries and many specialty classes. We are so lucky to have this group of yogis bringing energy to our community!
