The Bar Method is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles. Not only does it reshape your entire body, but it allows you to channel your inner strength and leave class feeling strong, confident and poised. 5 Stars for sure. I've taken 100 classes there in the past six months and I have concluded that everything about the place is special. Whether you want to get fit or stay fit this workout will get you there - an all around strength and conditioning routine that will make you stronger, more flexible and improve your balance. The instructors are an awesome group of highly trained, helpful, fun, caring people doing their best to help you get the most out of each workout! The studio environment is friendly and welcoming. The people who work out there are friendly. For me the results have been real - I'm no longer embarrassed to take my shirt off at the beach! Thank you Bar Method!

As a frequent barre go-er and athlete, I have not quite experienced anything like The Bar Method!

Pros: Ample parking (free!) with short walk to front door, clean studio, lockers, upbeat and friendly instructors, relatively low price point for barre.

Depending on your preferences, you may or may not appreciate the carpeted floor, instructors who verbally describe moves versus demonstrate and do them with you, continuous feedback throughout class with your name called out over the mic reminding you what you're doing right or wrong and how to modify, and being touched for corrections (some instructors will ask prior to doing this).

Seems the crowd is ~60-40 mix of dedicated local clients and Groupon customers here.

I love The Bar Method Tysons! Each class is challenging, but fun, and always a little bit different! I really like the hands-on adjustments and constant motivation. Every instructor works with me to modify my positioning in order to support my limitations from previous injury and they make a huge effort to learn everyone’s name, which I really appreciated during my first classes!

I have taken 10 classes here now. The studio is very clean. I was surprised at how quickly the instructors learned my name! I appreciate the corrections on my form made during class, none of the exercises are painful on my old soccer injuries. It’s a low intensity workout that makes for a really nice burn on the muscles. As someone who loves anatomy, I think it’s fun when specific muscle groups are mentioned and targeted. I’m loving it here!

This is not your average studio or gym. This is a REAL community where they know your name and ask how you are. The instructors are truly hands on making sure your form is correct as you go through the workout. They do this with humor, encouragement, celebrating your progress with you, all the while kicking your butt to KEEP GOING. I am getting stronger and my arms and legs have definition for the first time in years (for this middle aged body!).

I found this studio through classpass and decided to buy an unlimited six week pass. I loved it so much after the six weeks that I decided to become a Club Bar Member. I have been a client at The Bar Method Tysons for 3+ years and I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy it. It’s a safe, effective strengthening and toning program in a fun atmosphere. I appreciate the amenities, including showers, towels, and a filtered water fountain. Spa-like environment with an attention to maximizing the value of each individual’s workout similar to what you would expect from a personal trainer. It’s not heavy, big muscle stuff but rather very specifically target parts of muscles. The result? Strength, flexibility, poise/postural improvement, toning, and lean bodies...plus an addiction to how great it feels to discover a new level of control with your body. Bonus: though you get a great workout, a shower immediately afterward isn’t mandatory, so you can sneak a workout in at lunch.

Bar Method Tysons Corner is a great barre studio. I have been a student at this studio for years. The instructors are personable and informative and the studio looks and feels like you’re at a spa. The workout is deceptively challengingly. I never thought an inch of movement while in thigh could burn so much! The best part of the work out for me has always been the focus on good form and the stretching of your muscles. The studio’s owner Shelley and her staff really encourage and challenge their students by offering different class formats, setting up frequent games/competitions, and continually introduces you to new exercises so you are never bored. With all the fitness trends and gyms out there, bar method has been and will continue to be the work out regime constant for me.

I am absolutely in love with everything about The Bar Method Tysons Corner ... from the management, to the instructors, to the classes, to the environment! From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted with a warm smile and someone who knows your name. The class schedule is full and varied, so you always can find a class and mix it up day to day. I have been going to the Bar Method Tysons Corner for a little over a year and a half. It has been the hardest, most challenging but also most inspiring workout I have ever done. I have seen fantastic changes in my body, including some muscles that I never knew I had. Worst Customer Service Ever! Booked a Sunday morning class through Classpass and had difficulty finding the place. It's part of some massive office building and after parking in the garage, I wandered around looking for the entrance. Finally went to the office lobby, where the guard told me to drive over to the other side of the building. I get there about 7 minutes before the start of the class. The reception is full of people waiting to begin and I'm told to fill out the necessary form/waiver, which I do in about a minute. I'm asked if I've done a Barre class before; I tell the girl behind the desk that I've done several. She tells me class will start shortly, then leaves. A minute or so later she comes back and says I'll have to do the class another time. What? She says they want people to be there 15 mins early so they can "tour the studio." But I'm not interested in touring their studio, I'm interested in taking a Barre class. I tell her that it took me 10 minutes to find the entrance; that there are numerous people waiting for the class, which hasn't even started. "It doesn't matter what you say," she says, "you're not gonna be taking a class today." Astounded by her attitude, I tell her I want to speak to a manager. There's no manager available. Will I be "charged" for the class? Yes. But they'll graciously allow me to come back another time. I have never been in a situation like it. The other women go into the class, leaving me standing there arguing with the woman. I want the name of the studio's owner and her email address. Nope, she's not giving me that information. Five minutes later, a woman comes in and begins to walk towards the class. "Sorry," says the girl at the desk, "the class is full." But it's not full...because I'm supposed to be in it! Woman leaves; girl still refuses to give me the owner's info; second woman walks in 5 mins later. It's now 10 past the hour. The woman comes up to the desk and asks the girl to hold her keys and phone, as she's "running so late." "You can just use the lockers," she replies with a smile, sending the woman into the back. So, obviously there are different rules for different people. Never did get the contact info. "You can just call the studio or use the email address on the website." When will the owner be in? She doesn't have a schedule, so it's a guessing game. Absolutely worst customer experience I've had...arguably ever. Just glad Classpass gave me the credits back. So, if you want to do a Barre class, go to Pure Barre. The McLean studio service is fantastic and I can't recommend it enough!!

I’ve been attending classes for just over a year now and absolutely love it. The instructors are knowledgeable and help make adjustments so you don’t hurt yourself and to get the most out of a move. Classes are super fun with motivation and encouragement from instructors, great music, daily themes for what body parts you will be working. I love the variety of classes for level 1 learning about the loves to express for a quick 45 min session to the mixed class where you work out next to people of all levels. Everyone is so nice and I love that it’s totally a judgement free zone - everyone has different flexibility so you just do as much or as little as you can. After a year of classes I’m so impressed with how far I’ve come! I’m always looking forward to my next class and love that class times are all day long so you can fit them into your own schedule.

The Bar Method workout is the best thing that could happen to my body, particularly my legs and overall core strength! After years of doing step, Zumba, HIIT and other high intensity workouts, I never thought I would love a fitness routine where I would have to do a lot of little movements and do them repetitively. Before getting started, I completely underestimated this workout. But once I started I was surprised at how fast it changed my body. I have never worked every muscle in my body in such a unique way. I was shaking throughout the whole class as it was not easy, but now, three years later, I SWEAR by it! I also love the instructors, particularly at this studio, as they always keep a close eye on you to make sure you are in the right position and getting the most out of your workout. There is always room for improvement and they are always by my side helping me constantly push myself. Lastly, I love the community of strong, wonderful women that take classes with me and make my morning so much more fun.

As a working mom of two little girls, I have very little time to myself and the workout times at the studio give me plenty of flexibility to get 4-5 workout in a week! I strongly recommend it! Don't just do a class, sign up for a month before you decide if this is for you!

As a pear -shaped curvy woman and avid runner, I was a bit apprehensive about taking a barre class and used my ClassPass. How good could I work out be if I'm not drenched in sweat? I'm typically not a fan of group fitness, generally instructors go to fast and I feel overwhelmed and an unproductive work out.

To my surprise and delight, the barre workout was solid and literally kicked my butt! I was impressed by all the challenging strength training poses. I really appreciated all of the auto corrections from Lynne (lots of them!) and encouraging warm demeanor that kept me moving and stay motivated.

This class is exactly as it sounds: a combination of yoga, light weights, and barre. This class keeps you on your toes with lots of fast-paced quick movements, (can't zone out!). I also enjoy the upbeat music as well. Although the facility is cozy and compact (doesn't have showers), it's clean and has nice lockers.

As other Yelpers have noted, the studio is quite expensive at $250/month. There are Groupon and 1st time customer discounts. If you plan on coming here a handful of times a month, ClassPass might be the cheaper route.

Thanks to Lynne, my plump butt was whipped into shape and feeling great the next day. Although I'm not big into barre and floor exercises, I'm considering coming back and would recommend it to a friend. Saw result the next day!

I was never a dancer and always shied away from bar classes because the movements don't at all come naturally to me. I was even more hesitant to participate after taking other bar classes and feeling completely lost. I came across Bar Method on a recommendation from a friend (and only agreed after the promise of dinner and a drink after our evening class). Immediately, you're able to see the atmosphere at Bar Method was warm and welcoming. The studio is bright and open and the instructors are genuine and friendly. I received lots of guidance and additional instruction in my first lesson that didn't at all make me feel singled out, but instead appreciative of the instructors time and energy. For the first time, I was actually executing the movements correctly and getting a good (really good!) workout. I've been back (several times) since and I can feel/see the changes in my body. In addition to building my strength (I now feel it may actually be possible to get my flat(ter) tummy back after 3 babies!), I have a better focus on my posture (which has always been an issue for me) and I can finish the plank exercises without moving to my knees (although I really, really want to drop to my knees in those last 20 seconds!) Overall, it's been a fun and empowering experience at Bar Method. Instead of meeting friends for lunch or coffee, I now want them to meet me at Bar!

I started going to the Bar Method Tysons Corner in May of 2017 and I fell in love. The studio is always clean and the staff is friendly. I appreciate the instructors making sure I am in the best form. After the first month of going at least four days a week, I was hooked. The barre workout is the only workout I have ever stuck with and I think it’s because of how I feel after each class. The workout looks easy, but you get on the balls of your feet, bend your knees, come down a third of the way and a pulse up an inch for a couple minutes then talk me.

My schedule allows for me to workout only during the workday. The Bar Method's 45-minute express is perfect. As a former instructor, I am never ashamed at the corrections or attention paid to me during class. The studio is impossible to find. The guard at the front desk doesn't know where the office is so I spent 15 minutes looking for the studio only to arrive when class started and told by the receptionist Kate that I can pay a cancellation fee for missing class. She wouldn't allow me to spend 2 minutes filling out a standard waiver form that would have taken one minute.
I will never come back to a studio like this that doesn't have compassion for being lost my first time here. There are so many other better run barre studios. Don't waste your money.

Bar Method Tyson's Corner is hands down top notch! From the second you walk into the beautiful spa like studio, you will feel at ease. The front desk welcomes you by name and with a smile! If you are new to the studio, the staff will pay special attention to you by giving you a tour and providing an overview of the fun that is ahead for the next 60 minutes. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. What I love about this studio is the sense of community. Clients and staff support each other and cheer each other on, I have never experienced anything like it at any other studio or gym. The full body work out is for all body types and will get you in great shape. I have been coming for over a year and I cant get enough. The change in my flexibility and tone in my muscles is awesome. Be prepared to become addicted! But don't worry you will be smiling and shaking the whole way!
